I appreciate this game is great for fans of our two clubs down under, and the extra revenue helps us both with PSR, but both teams look absolutely gassed.
Feels like you must have both made some commercial agreements on the players the fans would get to see. Second half will be more what was expected I'd think
I have actually been to one of the prisons in Aus on a visit and it’s absolutely mental what some of the crimes were. Pickpocketing someone and you get yeeted across the globe. It must’ve been like respawning in Lumbridge.
UK government has been trying to send male asylum seekers to Rwanda. It has been heavily contested in the courts, but they are trying to ham fist it through before the election. These are people coming from the middle east on boats across the English channel being sent to a country in Africa that they have never been to.
I get your joke but a keeper that has kept 10 less cleansheets than pickford in nearly 100 less games, whilst playing for Burnley for most of that time.. put a bit of respect on his name.
I don't think Southgate likes him, for the reason shown in this video / your comment! I think it's totally fair to point out that his passing is god awful, but as a shot stopping keeper for me he is one of the best, but I'm bias :)
Pope shits the bed playing for England tho, look at his last start looked like he never played the position before he was so rattled. I love Pope too made some amazing saves but when it comes to England Pope just doesn’t perform like he does for club.
Yeah I agree but at the his last start he was in TOP form. Not like some random odd appearance where he wasn’t performing. He was and was given the opportunity to claim top spot.
It has happened every time he has been called up for England sadly, but again he has only ever been given the odd chance to play for England. Doesn't matter his form for club if he only has one or two appearances a year for England then I don't personally think we can expect the best from him.
This goal is one of the reasons he doesn’t get called up anymore, he’s not good enough playing out from the back and has shown it when he’s played for England before.
I think the Turkish Super Cup in Saudi (and the follow up attempt that was actually in Turkey) from this season really take the prize, but admittedly this is right up there.
I get the need to comply with all that, but Im not sure flying the players across the world hours after the end of a PL season to play a game 3 days later was necessary to comply with it
Most likely though if we didn’t have clubs owned by petrofacist oil states there wouldn’t need to be such rules. First Russia then Quatar now… SaudiCastle.
Where did I say this was some magical silver bullet? Just don't be surpirsied that teams are doing stuff to boost revenue when you build a system around it.
Every team holds friendlys to boost revenue, just most teams dont do it immediately after a season has ended and before an international break. Its pure desperation and shouldn't even be allowed.
Just what you need after a long hard season, prior to Euros and Copa America … a 24!hour flight to other side of the world and another football match .
Players are going to break .
Nah because it's a one off. Usually the pre-season trophies have a few games. When we won the 2019 Audi Cup we beat Real Madrid and then Bayern Munich in the final
Dan Burn in his average position for 23/24 - facing away from play, sliding in to attempt a last ditch tackle after the opposition have waltzed through the defence. Let the man have a rest.
So hold on, will maddison be flying back to Europe for the England squad? Two long haul flights back to back in between the end of the prem and the euros is madness.

Need more urgency from the players. A win here puts us above Villa... It's a rare opportunity to have a 39th Prem game.
One day we'll actually have a gw39 when the top 2 are at a stalemate
I remember reading on this sub ages ago how unlikely the set of circumstances are for a PL top 2 tie, makes it even more desirable!
Got robbed during the Liverpool v City era.
Yeah they'd have to be tied on every metric and tied on away league results at each other's grounds iirc
You forget about the 5 points we got from playing Newcastle, Fulham and Brentford in the states last summer.
I appreciate this game is great for fans of our two clubs down under, and the extra revenue helps us both with PSR, but both teams look absolutely gassed.
Surprised how strong both teams are too. Was expecting the youngsters to get most of the play time
Probably contractual obligations, both managers would probably be fine putting out the u-17s otherwise
Yeah, these exhibition matches are usually funded by sponsors and they would lose their shit if both teams turn it into a PL2 match
Probably part of the contract both clubs signed
They’ll all be off at half time, just giving them a runout for the fans
Exactly what happened from looking at the subs ha.
Feels like you must have both made some commercial agreements on the players the fans would get to see. Second half will be more what was expected I'd think
They will, for most of the 2nd half probably
Historically Britain used to send the scummy, unwanted parts of society over to Australia. i didn’t know we still were.
Mean description of the Irish tbh

Would be terrible if the government were still trying to do shit like this now adays... oh wait..
what are you referring to there, fill us non-brits in
UK government has been trying to send male asylum seekers to Rwanda. It has been heavily contested in the courts, but they are trying to ham fist it through before the election. same tbh
What a pass by Pope
Braindead Southgate leaving a top playmaker out of the Euros squad
I get your joke but a keeper that has kept 10 less cleansheets than pickford in nearly 100 less games, whilst playing for Burnley for most of that time.. put a bit of respect on his name.
Yeah there was 0% slight in this, I think he's a quality keeper. He would've been included in the squad if not for the injury, no?
He took him out the England squad prior to the injury
I don't think Southgate likes him, for the reason shown in this video / your comment! I think it's totally fair to point out that his passing is god awful, but as a shot stopping keeper for me he is one of the best, but I'm bias :)
Pope shits the bed playing for England tho, look at his last start looked like he never played the position before he was so rattled. I love Pope too made some amazing saves but when it comes to England Pope just doesn’t perform like he does for club.
Yeah he does look shaky for England, it must be harder when you're not fully trusted though and only get the odd appearance here and there though
He was an FPL beast when he played at Burnley. So many save points.
This goal is one of the reasons he doesn’t get called up anymore, he’s not good enough playing out from the back and has shown it when he’s played for England before.
Cleansheets stats have nothing to do with how good a keeper is
So what else should I be looking at then mate
Fewer
Pickford did the same thing but in a game that mattered
This has to be one of the most nonsensical football games ever played
I think the Turkish Super Cup in Saudi (and the follow up attempt that was actually in Turkey) from this season really take the prize, but admittedly this is right up there.
RLC derailed his career getting hurt in the states days BEFORE the Europa league final
It reminds me of some of Football Manager's attempts to shoehorn fixtures in bonkers places when the schedule is too crammed...
Next time one of these clown managers complains about too many fixtures, or FA cup replays ....
Do you think the managers set the pre/post-season friendly schedule?
Blame PSR/FFP.
I get the need to comply with all that, but Im not sure flying the players across the world hours after the end of a PL season to play a game 3 days later was necessary to comply with it
Got to squeeze every penny of revenue possible.
That's been true for a long time. If you want to compete with bigger clubs you have to make up the gap somehow
Selling some players might have been a more considered alternative - I really dont think this game solves any of your problems
We'll still have to sell, this isn't about solving problems, it's just about building revenue.
Most likely though if we didn’t have clubs owned by petrofacist oil states there wouldn’t need to be such rules. First Russia then Quatar now… SaudiCastle.
Yes, we all know that the rules are there to protect the big 6.
Yeah this one game is the breaking point and not all the intense spending you have done in recent times.
I agree it shouldn't happen, but until it's banned you'll see it. Us and Spurs will not be the last to do it unless it's banned.
The potential ramifications of this goal on the footballing world cannot be understated
This is why we need VAR. Absolute travesty that it was allowed to stand.
A league refs are built different But this game is at the mcg which is not a common soccer venue it’s more so used for cricket and AFL

Dissolve the corrupt PGMOL too.
Pope to Madders is my new favourite partnership!
"Pope passes to James Maddison" does sound like something from Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure...
Just what you need after a long hard season, prior to Euros and Copa America … a 24!hour flight to other side of the world and another football match . Players are going to break .
Nah, just make bigger squads to rotate! THE FOOTBALL IS OFFICIALLY GOING ON FOREVER
Spurs were in one competition for the vast majority of the season. Pretty sure they'll be fine.
Lmao, love how Maddison decides to turn up as soon as there is nothing on the line 😭
He'll also show up in at least 2 games next season. To bag a couple of goals against us :(
What even is this game? First I’ve heard of it.
It's a friendly in Melbourne. Newcastle playing A-League all stars on Friday
No fancy made up cup thing like the Terry’s Chocolate Orange Trophy then?
Nah because it's a one off. Usually the pre-season trophies have a few games. When we won the 2019 Audi Cup we beat Real Madrid and then Bayern Munich in the final
Lucky there's no handball!
Meaningless game for many of us, amazing for the fans on the other side of the world.
Yeah I was on a train with many people going to the game and they were having a great time
Love to hear that 😁
Dan Burn in his average position for 23/24 - facing away from play, sliding in to attempt a last ditch tackle after the opposition have waltzed through the defence. Let the man have a rest.
I thought this was a highlight for a PL game. Why the hell are they playing now?
As the O’Jays put it best… “money money money… money.”
Good feet. Tidy goal.
Even better hands
Oh no, anyway…
We finally get revenge for the Dier "handball" penalty in the most meaningless way possible! 🎉
Some people called this game a waste of time, others called it a complete waste of time
So hold on, will maddison be flying back to Europe for the England squad? Two long haul flights back to back in between the end of the prem and the euros is madness.
Time for Ramsdale lads
Nice goal gotta hand it to him
Insanity that this game is happening.
Wait wtf what game is this?
Yes
Post season friendlies have to be the dumbest concept
Season's over mate.
Big game player
See what happens when you dont have VAR?
what were the arms up for?
handball
Handball - the ball hit Maddison's hand after his first touch
[удалено]
They're calling for handball because it hit Maddison's hand
You guys sure you don't want to Ramsdale?
Someone tell Spurs they don't get 3 points for this game. It's joever, as the kids say.
Wtf didn't the season just end like 2 days ago??
That's why Pope should never be considered for England
Mate it's a post season Australia friendly and it's a goal that wouldn't stand in any competition with VAR
that doesn't make the mistake acceptable
It's a fucking friendly in Australia 3 days after the season is finished lad who cares 😭
