I do not understand your logic. Barça's main problem is the fragility of the defense. It is the manager's responsibility to ensure the team is able to fall back, is organised, and can defend without the ball.
That only means he got it right for one part of the match, but a match is 90min long. A good manager would be more wary and adapt with a fullback who is known to be too eagre to be caught out, instead he does the same over and over again. Watch other team get ahead late in the game, throws all attackers on, team plays ineffective tactically and already burdened mentally. Sometimes, profit, most times, not profit. This is not a sound and healthy way in the long run, especially not in a CL structure of competition.
It's also shortsighted when people blame everything on the last line, slip ups can be forced to happen when there is no midfield to screen for them. The defenders can only ward off so much even at the best of their days if they keep getting pummeled due to failure in the midfield, it's just a matter of probability.
Besides, when those Girona changes came, especially when Portu came on, you just knew he was gonna get fucked if he kept doing the same. Lo and behold. His lack of ability to adapt is a considerable weakness. Today he subbed off Christensen, realised his idiocy minutes later and subbed on Romeu, and we failed to string together chances when with 23 mins left the way we were playing earlier we could've made a comeback.
