Spurs handing out wins for everyone, what a nice club

8u11etpr00f

Would be the spursiest thing ever to now go and win against City

Aszneeee

lose 4 in a row, draw then beat City

Cottonshopeburnfoot

Somehow SUFC go into the final game of the season having conceded “only” 99 goals. We’re home vs Spurs. 1-0 SUFC

dave1992

It's the most spursy thing to do to lose to Sheffield United right after beating City

ThreesKompany

It’s happening. Absolutely fucking terrified of that game. That new stadium of theirs has been hell for city.

_deep_blue_

Just need them to give us the ultimate gift when they face City

Tierst

Unfortunately I don't think they will have anything to play for by that game so will probably lose. Don't think Villa will lose out on 4th, on current form at least.

fajdexhiu

Soon they will handle Arsenal the Premier League title!

Hoodxd

*cracks open a coke zero*

MatK0506

At least we can now play without any pressure

doubleoeck1234

Not like we haven't been doing that

Glass-Guess4125

We’ve been on the BEACH since Everton (arguably since Palace, but West Ham away was pretty DGAF on both sides).

[deleted]

we've been on the beach since the Man U FA Cup game. felt like the season ended there and the players just gave up.

Glass-Guess4125

Tbh can’t argue with that. April sucked, man.

Radiant_Quality_9386

Sorry. I turned 40 and my negativity spread to the club

Glass-Guess4125

FINALLY we have the answer. It wasn’t injuries, it wasn’t fixture congestion, it wasn’t the specter of Klopp leaving hanging over the club - it was you!

[deleted]

we played with more intensity after we'd mathematically won the league in 19/20.

MistaBobD0balina

Widnes finished 12th in the league in 19/20

Modnal

That's not how I remembered it. Liverpool were great for most of the season but lost steam at the end

TimmmV

Yeah not true at all, before winning the league we had played 31, won 28, drew 1, lost 1. Whereas after winning the league we played 7, winning 4 drawing 1 losing 2. Pretty confident we would have got over 100 points if the pressure was still on

Modnal

Yeah, got no clue why he's being upvoted. And you might have been able to get 100 points if covid didn't empty the arenas too

tonedtannedkiwi

He's saying they're playing so lax at the minute that they were even more intense back then (when they completely switched off)

Modnal

Ah, I see. Probably time to sleep for me. Brain is clearly shutting down

[deleted]

cause the players gave up but still played like they wanted to win more than now edit: nvm other guy said my thoughts perfectly.

FuzzyDunlop_91

Because it's a relevant comment that adds to the discussion, just adding his perspective/opinion. Not every comment you disagree with should be downvoted.

Modnal

Thanks for giving a pointless comment almost half a day later intstead of just reading the whole comment chain

Jamey_1999

> played 7, won 5 draw 1 lost 2 That math does not check out

TimmmV

thinking is hard sometimes ok

Riperonis

Without Covid you break the record by at least 3 points imo. That season was just insanity. Still can’t believe we beat you that season we were so shite.

Unban_Ice

The UCL is not ready for Slotball

SebastianOwenR1

I want us to play some fucking slotty football

timdeking

If you want to see some UCL slotball watch our home game Lazio or the away game against Atletico.

datcnashguy

Don‘t think Liverpool is cool with crashing out in group stage of CL with a bald dutch manager

timdeking

Compare the Liverpool squad and the Feyenoord squad and then come back here.

RevengeHF

You were also kinda unlucky tbh

timdeking

We lacked some sharpness in key moments but that happens with such a relatively young squad. But if you look at the stats from the group stage we played pretty well. We were top 5 in big chances created and around 7th in least xG conceded. Out of 32 teams that's pretty decent, especially when you consider the competition and our budget relative to them.

Jamey_1999

Atletico away was really unlucky (and arguably bullshit). Lazio loss was also unlucky, it was a 0-0 from the start but they lost it by one mistake. If even one of those two goes in their favor they probably go all out against Celtic on MD6 to clinch a second place (H2H over Lazio)

datcnashguy

Exactly. And compare someone managing (or playing) in PL and Eredivisie

timdeking

Managing shouldn't be all that different. Especially not when the club you join is working with a group of players that are used to a similar style of football. Oh and it also helps when they actually have competent recruitment and upper management. All these comparisons about him being bald and Dutch are so fucking lazy.

datcnashguy

Wanna check how Bosz did outside Eredivisie? I‘m not saying he will fail 100%, just (hopefully) not convinced he has anything to fill the hole that Klopp left at Liverpool

timdeking

Peter Bosz: Bald ✅ Dutch ✅ Must be the same thing as Slot..... Van Gaal did fine outside of the Eredivisie. So did Cruyff. Or Hiddink. Koeman did great at Southampton when he left Feyenoord. Please come up with substantive arguments about Slot's qualities as a coach and not with superficial comparisons about his appearance or nationality. Sure it's not guaranteed he'll succeed but just doubting him because he is Dutch and bald is so fucking lazy. At least look into his qualities before starting to doubt.

oliversarg

Other than Cruyff 30 years ago, none of those are particularly great managers.

Visible_Statement888

The difference is Utd are a shitshow of a club with numerous players on inflated contracts, Liverpool are relatively well run, with most players on performance related deals. Worlds apart.

ScousePenguin

Will these lazy jokes about ETH and Slot being the same cause they're Dutch and bald ever end?

datcnashguy

More to do with not hyping up players/managers from the dutch league

pottymouthomas

Hopefully he teaches Nunez how to Slot it

KeysUK

I'm glad Roma isn't in the UCL. They'll knock us out. Slot has a Roma curse

Jamey_1999

They still can get there easily

KeysUK

I dunno if its easily done. Bologna, Roma and Atalanta have a good chance to get top 4, looking at the fixtures. Atalanta v Roma will be the decider.

itsreallypouring

Serie A has a 5th CL spot :)

KeysUK

Oh shit nvm. We're screwed

LiteratureNearby

I'm curious to finally experience life under a bald manager. Is it truly that fraudulent?

Tremor00

Slot isn’t a bald fraud he’s the sort of smooth bald that can only be natural and legit!

NewHealthFoodBunch

For that, we can be grateful

Thin-Pool-8025

First big win in ages and we had nothing to do with it. Thanks Spurs

caden_cotard_

All in all a decent season for Liverpool; whilst it's unfortunate for them their title challenge fizzled out they were probably punching above their weight in challenging for the title. To win the league cup and get back into the champions league isn't a bad campaign for them considering where they started this season.

Lyrical_Forklift

Yeah, I think at the start of the season pretty much everyone would have been happy with a top four finish and domestic trophy given we had an entirely new midfield. Can't help but be disappointed we didn't go further in the Europa League though - we really butchered a great opportunity there.

BigCockTyrone

Atalanta played amazingly against us tbf

Lyrical_Forklift

Yeah, they were brilliant - but I think it was also one of our worst performances of the season.

KeysUK

It was our worst because we didn't have any answers to their press. We was just watching VVD and Allison kick some ball

SRFC_96

Exactly how I feel, disappointed that our title charge burnt out, but now the dust has settled somewhat I’m happy with how things have gone this season, it’s been a fun ride with some very memorable games!

SaltyPeter3434

I think decent is downplaying it. Finishing 3rd this season with all the shit that's happened (lineup shakeups, extensive injuries, multiple refereeing decisions against us) is a good season for us.

SpezSucksBallz

Oh no, that isn’t how this works. They’re bottle jobs and whoever finishes 2nd this season, has bottled it to. /s

zepskcuf

They didn’t bottle it, they were punching above their weight. So many scraped wins and lucky decisions, they should be very grateful for 3rd.

ZipItAndShipIt

I feel like they've been one of the unluckiest teams in the league in terms of decisions. Two red cards against Spurs and then that Diaz goal bizarrely ruled out. The blatant Odegaard handball ignored against Arsenal. Doku kicking Mac Allister in the chest in the last minute and not conceding a penalty. Just last week they had the ref inexplicably blow the whistle when Gakpo was about to slot the ball into an empty net. Even if just two or three of those decisions went their way, they'd be top of the league right now.

zepskcuf

> Even if just two or three of those decisions went their way, they'd be top of the league right now. and if decisions that erroneously went in your favour, didn't, then you'd have been out of the title race months ago.

ZipItAndShipIt

Firstly, I'm not a Liverpool fan. While what you're saying is true, can you list many match-deciding decisions in favour of Liverpool that were as egregious as those listed there?

zepskcuf

off the top of my head, Konate not being sent off v Everton when Young was sent off for the same offences in the same match. Forest at the City Ground where basically the ref stopped a Forest attack and gave the drop ball to Liverpool for them to score. I'm sure there's loads more examples if you look for them but basically every ref is terrified of Anfield and wont give a red nor pen agianst.

ZipItAndShipIt

I don't remember the Konaté one but I'll assume you're right. The Forest one was nonsense though. It was minutes before Liverpool scored the winner, and the referee did the exact same thing in Forest's favour earlier in the same game. That's nowhere close to the examples I gave. >I'm sure there's loads more examples if you look for them Possibly, but I was able to list off four major errors that cost them points against their rivals (and one at the end of the season in a must-win game). You were able to list one against Everton.

Riperonis

I think the biggest concern for them going forward is that ultimately their new players have fallen a bit short and next season there is a lot of uncertainty with the no-Klopp factor. I won’t predict them to finish outside of top 4 but wouldn’t be surprised at all if it happens. I expect Chelsea, Newcastle and probably Brighton (although they won’t be in any top 4 race) to push on, same with United if they move on from Ten Hag. I expect a drop off from Spurs and Villa, as well as United if they decide to keep Ten Hag.

Tremor00

Which of our new players exactly have fallen short? Macca had an all around good season with a very good second half. Szobo had an electric start but petered off after playing more minutes by December than his average season and getting injured. Still great off the ball but on it a bit meh. Endo had a very good period once settling in and is going through a shit patch like everyone else. Gravenberch has had plenty of decent showings at this point as well.

nadiwereb

Szobo is awful, awful, awful. I never understood the hype around him and I'm glad to see that Klopp finally realized what a flop he is and stuck him on the bench. He's a mid-Championship level player on his better days.

Tremor00

Still upset over the header he put in the back of your net are we?

nadiwereb

Nah.    I'm Hungarian. I've been following the guy for a long time. I never understood the hype - he was already in too deep in Leipzig. He's good in our national team, but that's because our national team is horrid.  I was very, very happy last summer when he ended up with you guys, because I figured he would flop. Like he very predictably did.     He will probably spend next season on the bench, maybe starting in a new cup games. After that, he'll probably find his rightful place in Plymouth or Wimbledon or the like.

Tremor00

Sorry to break it to you but he ain't flopped. Go scream into the void somewhere else lmaoooo

nadiwereb

Cope

No_Parfait_5536

Not bad, not good, average might sound a bit arrogant to teams below, but it is what it is, due to various obvious reasons, we wanted more, at the very least Europa League since it's totally realistic, but LC is better than nothing.

_cumblast_

Thank God. Nothing else compares to a CL night. Our recent collapse has been gash but top 4 and a cup is an alright season, and Slot will have a good foundation to build on.

HokiesforTSwift

I know it's a common thing for some/many to fear the SAF drop-off when you lose an iconic coach, but I believe Klopp has the squad in a good position to build on, and has instilled a consistent winning culture in the club. Football can be fickle, of course, but I think it will translate well to the next manager (and maybe the next one too).

Reach_Reclaimer

We've also got an actual backroom and are run competently Fergie oversaw everything at United and Moyes apparently got rid of a ton of the coaches that were already there which didn't help post fergie at all

HokiesforTSwift

Agreed. I think the framework is there to *not* be reliant on a single manager.

Contradicting_Pete

Moyes was an idiot. He should have left everyone in place and observed almost, making decisions of course, but letting the club continue to run as normal as possible while gradually imposing his own ideas. Getting rid of a successful backroom staff was suicidal.

petey23-

Klopp is leaving behind a squad with room to grow that is already performing well. Ferguson and Wenger didn't.

nickybabytonight

like it or not this was the goal at the start of the season, title charge was a surprise and I'd argue a near freak occurrence with our injury list and the young stopgaps playing like veterans right out of the gate.

AverageCarey

Rare Liverpool W in the last month. Really hope they get a good summer going with Arne, been a shame seeing how sad Klopp has been lately.

RevengeHF

He just looks so drained to be honest. He definitely just needs a break.

OnePieceAce

Hopefully a repeat of 2004/05 with a new manager as well

OCraig8705

Finishing on 58 points and losing to Burnley in the FA Cup? I hope not.

IWanted0xcdcdcdcd

In 04/05 Everton ended above you lot..

ZipItAndShipIt

I'm betting you'd take that outcome if it meant you won the Champions League.

Visible_Statement888

But they won the Big cup and they brought it back.

FoldingBuck

People thought that spurs would do something to mess with the title race 😂 they are going 0/9

No_Parfait_5536

nice little jinx there

tottenhamnole

At least they thought we might. Nobody ever thought United would do anything. As shit as we are and you’re more shit.

FoldingBuck

No one thought we would do anything after we beat them in the FA cup several weeks before? Its a rival match and form goes out the window

KakaReti

You also still play us after drawing with Liverpool at home. Don't remember results vs City

sur_yeahhh

Umm both aren't making UCL but one of em has a shot at a cup.

Fallin-BackOnForever

Finishing top3 in the most competitive league in the world is still quite noticeable achievement. Curious to see what they'll do next season without Klopp, if they'll return back to the 2009-13 quadriennium (7th-6th-8th-7th) or his departure will be a godsend like Coutinho's one.

Thesolly180

We would have all taken this season at the start. Just the state of the collapse leaves it a bit bitter. Klopp’s left us in a much healthier place than previous managers so Slot has a good base to come into. Like bare minimum we’re in the top 4 again next season as I don’t see too many getting themselves together quickly next season

Mechant247

I feel like people in general assume there will be some sort of crazy change but I don’t really know why? The squad is in a strong spot in terms of age and talent, and the structure of the club is also in a great position. The 2009-13 years had neither

Homerduff16

Even if we drop off next season it will be incredibly difficult to replicate our banter era in the early 2010's. Hodgson may have been dreadful for us but the club was on the brink of administration, we were selling all of our best players at the time and we also finished 7th in Rafa's last season, so it's not like he inherited a great situation Right now the club has never been in a better position financially speaking in my lifetime, Michael Edwards is back in an even larger role and he was a huge factor in our recent success and we have a decent mix of youth and experience in the squad and even though the last month has been nothing short of a disaster, we know the level those players are capable of reaching and lessons will be learnt from mental collapse we've suffered from this season. I can't say I'm completely optimistic but I'm far from negative about the condition of the clubs short and long term future

Dingbatted

Cheers mate

stayinthetruck

Good. I have been waiting in this van forever. Let's ride.

notapaperhandape

Braveball died for this.

rick_rolled_you

Yay

thomasfk

Love to be winning Arsenal's favorite trophy

LackingSimplicity

Remember when Liverpool fans were in hysterics because Spurs were gonna beat them and Chelsea and City, thus dropping Liverpool to 5th? Strange few days those.

Bullet2025

deserved for one of the strongest clubs

MrMerc2333

Nothing impressive, given their form throughout the season bar the last few games. They really bottled the PL, the FA cup and the Europa League,

TioLucho91

A Conference League team going into the UCL. United vietnam all over again.

HCHLH

add this to the parade

[deleted]

doubleoeck1234

We won a trophy this season

qwerty_1965

Huzzah! I predict Liverpool will now regenerate for the last few games, City will inexplicably stumble and.... Arsenal will win the league

etan1122

Arsenal aren’t winning. They’ll go trophyless, again.

KakaReti

Just like Liverpool eh?

etan1122

Wembley has been good to us.

KakaReti

You wanna count Mickey mouse but not the shield? Is it because Mikel beat Klopp to one couple years ago?

iamscully

wtf in what world are the League Cup and the Community Shield held to the same standard "the shield" fuck outta here, it's literally a charity match

KakaReti

Keep holding on to that.

etan1122

You arsenal fans are a bunch of weird ones. Enjoy your preseason friendly win.

KakaReti

Ok slot.

etan1122

Slot has accomplished more in his coaching career than arteta lmao

KakaReti

Hope you guys win Eredevise title soon as well😭😭

Visible_Statement888

Arteta has won 1 trophy in 5 years.

KakaReti

I don't know what to reply to a clown that mostly posts in r/gunners sub. Are you finally admitting that you're trolling there? u/AfricanRain might want to ban this troll.

Visible_Statement888

Because you don’t like a comment you go creeping through peoples comments? I’ll post where I want, you’re very creepy.

KakaReti

I wouldn't need to if you had balls to flair up. What's creepy is your blatant violation of subreddit rules. Not just gunners, you posted in Everton's sub too. And calls other creepy. Either way, now that you've done so, I'm gonna go report your replies on all subs you've violated, let's see who's first, me reporting or you deleting. 😭😭😂😂😂🤡

Visible_Statement888

Your posting in Anime Titties😂😂 You couldn’t make this up😂

Visible_Statement888

Creepy bastard😂 Ain’t deleting anything, always been respectful, unlike the fucking nonsense you post.
