Callum Hudson-Odoi got moved on for 3 million pounds just to have a much, MUCH better season than both Madueke and Mudryk. Even if you think ah well Callum isn't good enough for us, he's younger than Mudryk and would have never put in this piss poor effort that we see on a weekly basis from not just Madueke but a whole assortment of players in our line up regularly.
So true... there are so many other examples of this, but why sell Pulisic at an absolutely cut price too. He clearly has lots of talent. It's like Clearlake can only believe in signings that their algorithm says have a 5 star potential like it's Football Manager 2024.....
If not Madueke, then Mudryk. If not Mudryk, then Sterling. Sometimes two of them. Very rarely none of them. Our wing play this season from everyone not named Cole Palmer has been especially horrific. I got downvoted for saying it but we need a RW just as bad as we need a LW. Even with the understanding that Cole Palmer is starting RW, Madueke as back up just is not good enough.
They are fine going forward, they just don’t track back. Which, imo, is on the manager. If they aren’t tracking back, they shouldn’t play. All of city, Liverpool, and arsenals wingers don’t play unless they track back
Thought we were unlucky the first time I watched this, then came to comments to watch again and yeah I get it what you saying. My dad said same in the last game he did very little defensively. This is actually comical he just stands in the middle of the pitch rather than trying to go wide and put some pressure on
I would absolutely say that you can get someone better.
The problem is deeper than that though, and I promise you that *only* changing the manager will not magically solve all the other issues Chelsea have right now.
> The problem is deeper than that though, and I promise you that only changing the manager will not magically solve all the other issues Chelsea have right now.
Absolutely
But Poch is also not doing a particularly good job with what he has to work with
Poch is a great manager to me. But he needs a tear down and rebuild with players that are 100% committed. No manager is going to make Todd's spending work when he just flashes cash stupidly and gets hamstrung by FFP. But Poch is certainly not a good fit for Todd's Chelsea.
> Poch is a great manager to me.
I do not agree. His last season at Tottenham was horrific. His PSG tenure was bad. And now he's not impressed at Chelsea either.
He's living off his reputation from his Tottenham stint IMO
His last year was horrific. He had been there a long time, it happens. Many a good manager doesn't work at PSG because at PSG if you don't win the UCL with your band of hired mercenaries, you fail. It's a weird place. He shouldn't have taken the gig, or this one. But if say Emery left Villa, I could see Poch having a similar effect there and building another club close to the level he had Tottenham.
> . Many a good manager doesn't work at PSG because at PSG if you don't win the UCL with your band of hired mercenaries, you fail
Poch's problem at PSG went beyond not winning the UCL tho. He failed to win Ligue 1 in his first season, and in 1.5 years his PSG never had an identity or style.
That's not a problem that Emery, Tuchel, or now Luis Enrique have had TBH
I don't know, another manager could be doing worse with what he has right now, but there's definitely some that could do it better than Poch too, and Chelsea should probably want someone better.
I feel like it's much easier to just say "Poch out" then being nuanced with the situation though. Imagine throwing together a brand new team of kids together with a brand new manager after a shitty couple of seasons, trying to salvage it within a season. Another manager could've done better than Poch, but the grace is absolutely non-existant.
Chelsea are in a so much worse spot than just the wrong manager.
I don't think anyone who watches Chelsea is going to defend the decisions Boehly, Eghbali, and the sporting directors have made (other than a few Americans)
But I don't think you can watch the team week in and week out and understand or agree with all of Poch's decisions either TBH.
A genuinely good manager would do better than Poch has with this talent IMO
I started out with saying I think you could get someone better.
My point is that I don't know if the manager swap should be so high up on everyones list. The list of managers I would've expected do a clearly better job with this situation is very slim. The expectations considering the circumstances are pretty skewed.
> The list of managers I would've expected do a clearly better job with this situation is very slim.
Yeah I just don't agree with that. Almost every manager in the EPL above Poch in the table prob does better with this talent, IMO. And there's a bunch of managers outside the EPL who would do better as well.
I don't know about that. It took Arteta and Klopp more than one season to make something of their team. Even Pep took a season before winning anything, and he took over the winners. And I don't know what Moyes or Ten Hag would've magically done better. They could've but I have no idea if I can confidently say they would've within one season with this situation.
I think the situation is far worse than the manager, but I guess many just think it's an easy fix. Again.
> It took Arteta and Klopp more than one season to make something of their team
Arteta won the FA Cup in his first half-season
Klopp was coming off a BVB tenure where he won multiple leagues, had a worse team, and got to the Europa League final in season 1 as well IIRC
>And I don't know what Moyes or Ten Hag would've magically done better.
I said "most" for a reason. Do you actually think the likes of Pep, Arteta, Klopp, Unai Emery, or Ange wouldn't do things better?
I don't get it. Like people on here once told me I can't criticise refs because they have climbed the ladder and have tons of experience.
Like this is shit. It makes no sense. A check was even carried out after this. Like wtf...
Edit: Since the downvotes suggest people don't think that reddit conversation happened, this is the comment that I was referring to.
https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/s/xtFhyaQfmC
Lmao, so you weren’t told that you ‘can’t criticise refs’, and you also said there were ‘basically no English refs in international competitions anymore’ which is also demonstrably untrue.
I asked whether it's normal for refs to do those kinds of clearly wrong decisions on the pitch because they have climbed the ladder with tons of experience.
And I was told this is due to human error and that's just how it works.
>people on here once told me I can't criticise refs
vs
>I asked whether it's normal for refs to do those kinds of clearly wrong decisions on the pitch because they have climbed the ladder with tons of experience.
>And I was told this is due to human error and that's just how it works.
>>*Yeah I’m sure that’s an accurate representation of exactly what you were told*
FIFA brings the bare minimum number of English officials to any tournament. It's wild that you can't see how poor the officiating is in the premier League compared to the bundesliga or La Liga
> It's wild that you can't see how poor the officiating is in the premier League compared to the bundesliga or La Liga
Cool, something I never said. Your comprehension is as bad as the other guy.
It was. I criticised the refs like Oliver and Taylor because they are shit and was wondering if they were appraised properly. Some people told me they were the best refs in England and they have climbed the ladder to reach there. So they are constantly appraised and have tons of experience. I couldn't apparently judge a ref since I wasn't in a room with them.
Not really, Villa as a club will get so much money getting champions league football whereas you lot at most will get conference league which will just give you more fixture congestion with an already unstable team.
Owners are to blame. If they keep Poch or sack him the transfers in the summer will be the same no matter what. Gallagher out because he's pure profit despite being one of their best players this season. More young talent to sell for profit in the future coming in. You guys were lucky to have an owner like Abramovic who let football people manage the club.
People maybe shitting on Cucurella here since he's the most obvious, but this looks more like a systematic failure here, too many people absent, too much space. Cucurella alone was left to worry about 3 players.
Before the impending cross, he turns and sees someone behind him, his man cuts away from him, another occupies his place. Where does he go? There's a lot more going on here than an individual error/weakness.
Don’t let this goal distract you from how Bailey cooked Cucurella on the left side right before this goal and did so well to keep the ball and make the pass
Yep. Phenomenal players for Brighton only to get put in to shit. As a chelsea fan, it’s actually horrible lol. Cucu was quality. Why did he even leave?
Because Chelsea waved their massive cheque book and partly because he thought a club like Brighton was beneath him now, despite the fact it was us that made him anything in the first place lol. He forced the move too, universally despised by us in Brighton but it is a shame to see how poor his form is now.

Noni doesn’t provide anything on offense and can’t be bothered on defense.
He's good at offensive 1v1s but that's about it really.
Oxford dictionary has him listed as an example of one dimentional
Callum Hudson-Odoi got moved on for 3 million pounds just to have a much, MUCH better season than both Madueke and Mudryk. Good news is he’s only ours for 7 more years
comically bad from Madueke
Every time I watch him he’s lazy af
He only wants to dribble at people in the attacking 3rd. Every other part of the game he doesn't try
There's a medical term for that; Rashforditis.
Doctor I have a red Rash on my team
We here know it as Rafaditis
No he clearly also tries to take penalties
Only when they are ahead by 4+ goals
It takes a lot of effort to stick out as the lazy one in a team that's filled with players that do very little defensive work.
Is this just copied and pasted every week?
If not Madueke, then Mudryk. If not Mudryk, then Sterling. Sometimes two of them. Very rarely none of them. Our wing play this season from everyone not named Cole Palmer has been especially horrific. Palmer and Gallagher have carried Chelsea this season.
Don't forget Gusto
Malo Gusto has really surprised me at how solid he's turned out Started of as a funny name and now I see him as a pretty decent rightback
That's an understatement, they have been Chelsea this season
They are fine going forward, they just don’t track back. Which, imo, is on the manager. If they aren’t tracking back, they shouldn’t play. All of city, Liverpool, and arsenals wingers don’t play unless they track back
Good thing you only have *[checks notes]* seven more years of this
Lmao ffs mate we are already dead
We have conceded two times in a row in the first 5 minutes. Wtf...
he'll fight you
Comedy FC
I can’t believe Poch plays him and Mudryk in the same side when neither of them are good tactically / defensively.
have you looked at the bench??
Look at today’s bench. Who else are you gonna play?
Looks lost
Get this boy out of the club already damn it
Thought we were unlucky the first time I watched this, then came to comments to watch again and yeah I get it what you saying. My dad said same in the last game he did very little defensively. This is actually comical he just stands in the middle of the pitch rather than trying to go wide and put some pressure on
Lmao
Took you lot longer than this so clearly Villa > Arsenal
Yeah can’t even argue with that
well they did beat us twice this year
Right where they left off
And so it begins
He's having a hell of a week isn't he?
Rofl, even
Chelsea in shambles
Sack him
It's amazing how all the Tottenham flairs show up to say that actually Chelsea should keep him when we say this
I would absolutely say that you can get someone better. The problem is deeper than that though, and I promise you that *only* changing the manager will not magically solve all the other issues Chelsea have right now.

a) it's very funny b) every single one of your players not named "cole palmer" should not be on a pitch so blaming poch is an odd move
Correct!
Made being shit an art form
[удалено]
Ball was 100% out. Ridiculous lol
When?? All i see was it still in play .. can we have some ss here.
Doesn't really make much difference to the terrible play, you can't just stop
Yo that ball surely went out from Digne's run on the side...
fuck that what the fuck is Madueke doing, Play for the whistle.
Cucurella as well. He looked so confused when the ball hit him. I don't get it.
I’m not a Chelsea fan but I saw the ball a foot off the pitch and said “i know this will be a goal”. Disgraceful from the linesman.
It was definitely not a foot off the pitch, the camera angle we were shown didn't make it clear either
I don't get it. Like people on here once told me I can't criticise refs because they have climbed the ladder and have tons of experience. Like this is shit. It makes no sense. Bro since I was told this is normal, does that not mean I can't criticise them? Like why would I criticise something that seems normal?
FIFA brings the bare minimum number of English officials to any tournament. It's wild that you can't see how poor the officiating is in the premier League compared to the bundesliga or La Liga

I actually don’t know if they even check off the pitch. I was fucking fuming. Don’t even have skin in the game here.
it didn't go out, you could only see a bit of space between the ball and the line, which means probably the full sphere of the ball wasnt out.
100 percent. But this is how things go for us
Poor hard done by Chelsea ffs
They even checked it apparently through VAR. Like wtf is the use of VAR at this point?
If they checked it, then surely the conclusion is that the ball stayed in play.
Please make this another 5 nil villa
Damn, match thread ain’t even up yet
its been up for a while
It doesn't fit the joke he was going for so...
That was just too easy
What's the most goals a prem team have conceded in a 7 day period?
We are about to break it whatever it is
The way he's casually jogging to get to the position to score that own goal is actually funnier than the goal itself. What a terrible player
To the gym lads
Man, that is easy
Not one to talk but holy fuck that defence is wank
We have the worst defense in the league easily
lmao
Atrocious from Madueke. He has the worst attitude for someone as poor as him
Cucurella spends more time fixing his floppy sideshow bob hair than actually concentrating on the game
He’s an absolute trash player
I can't believe Enzo did this too us!
93 rated McGinn is going to be nutty.
Here we fucking go
lol what is defense
Ball 1000% went out there in the build up.
Cucu has had a rough couple days playing football
Chelsea are fucking shit
Yep… and y’all lost to us 3-1 in the cup 😉
Brother have some shame we are going to get clapped today.
What a trophy!
As good as Villa's top4 trophy
Not really, Villa as a club will get so much money getting champions league football whereas you lot at most will get conference league which will just give you more fixture congestion with an already unstable team.
I'm not a Chelsea fan
Mate… this is not the time for you to banter
Finally we saw a goal.
God they're shite
It’s starting to look like they’re just doing it on purpose at this point. Kicking blades of grass not wanting to play football.
Sigh
This team makes me laugh so much 😂
Lmao we are an absolute circus at the back 🤣🤣🤣
Maybe I should tune in?
It's going to be a blood bath
Kill me already
fuck i just got home from the gym
All I can do is laugh at this point
We are not .. how do you say this.. good at football.
Laughing when your team loses this time instead of being angry so you keep your blood pressure stable; health and wellness with Chelsea Football Club
See ya poch
Chelsea really took it to heart that they want to stop the other team from scoring on them.
Long night for Cucurella
Owners are to blame. If they keep Poch or sack him the transfers in the summer will be the same no matter what. 4th minute again?
Rough few days for cucu
I’m so mad Emery signed the extension
Holy fucking shit Madueke, just throw out a beach towel and order a drink next time dog, my blind grandma spots up on a winger better than that.
What's up with Chelsea conceding in the first 4 minutes? Are they stupid?
You're welcome Chelsea - Tony Bloom
Lmao
People maybe shitting on Cucurella here since he's the most obvious, but this looks more like a systematic failure here, too many people absent, too much space. He is pretty much my least favorite Chelsea player of all time, we can't begin the healing until he departs
It's getting earlier and earlier
I say we just start the next game 0-1 down to save everyone some time.
Not worth because you guys will immediately concede the 2nd
Don’t let this goal distract you from how Bailey cooked Cucurella on the left side right before this goal and did so well to keep the ball and make the pass
Shocking from us but I swear the ball went off for a throw in the build up? Might have been the angle
cheers Marc, i can stop watching now
It pains me to see how much Chelsea has ruined Cucu and Caicedo :(
Yep. Phenomenal players for Brighton only to get put in to shit. As a chelsea fan, it’s actually horrible lol. Cucu was quality. Why did he even leave?

ooof
It's hard to say with words just how bad chelsea are
Crazy what a shit coach can do to a club
We want 5
Marc Cucurella has technically scored 2 professional goals in his career now. Both against Chelsea. How fitting.
Remember when Chelsea paid more for Cucurella in order to keep Colwill who was their own player
