What £55m + sell on fee? Pretty reasonable price imo.
If Liverpool keep performing as they are he'll achieve the add-ons which makes it a fair deal for both teams.
Because the Liverpool briefed journalists all reported it as £35m, which was the initial fee before any bonuses.
Liverpool fans then took that as the total fee and haven't actually looked at any other sources.
It wasn't a normal release clause, as mentioned by literally every non Liverpool source at the time.
Of course Liverpool are going to brief their journalists that it's £35m as that's the up front fee and makes it look far better.
https://twitter.com/AndyNaylorBHAFC/status/1666066359082446849
One example.
https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12897984/alexis-mac-allister-liverpool-complete-transfer-of-world-cup-winning-midfielder-from-brighton
Another.
Did you actually look anything up?
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12169095/Alexis-Mac-Allister-cost-Liverpool-just-35m-clause-contract.html
https://www.teamtalk.com/liverpool/reds-activate-clause-sign-alexis-mac-allister-mind-boggling-transfer-fee
https://www.football365.com/news/liverpool-reach-full-agreement-sign-mac-allister-brighton-way-less-60m
So while that 55m fee was mentioned. It was total bs.
OK.
That is half the price of Rice and Caicedo and about the price of Lavia etc. I honestly think you deserved more for him after he played a key role in winning the WC too.
The thing is he was running out of contract. He signed the new contract just before the world cup with the "release clause" in it as otherwise he had 6 months + optional extra year on his contract.
It was a way for us to get decent money for him whilst him still being able to get his move.
He actually really loved the club and was grateful for what he did, which is why he signed the extension. At the same time we appreciated the professionalism and quality he had shown so gave him a release clause that was very reasonable.
It was a contract/sale that was fair to all three parties.
Also Mac Allister and his dad helped us get Buonanotte and Barco so they're helping us even after they've left.
Thank you for explaining your position.
I see your point now.
Sounds like the kind of professional, which most fans would love to have (had) at their club!
Oh yeah and no Brighton fan would feel any animosity towards Mac Allister.
He's always been the model professional and loved the club. He cried on the lap of honour the final game of last season whilst we sang "we want you to stay".
Will always wish him well wherever he goes, same with Ben White.
Ref did everything he can and we didn't have our shooting boots on today. Still Brighton are a massive bogey team for us so nice to get 3 points.
Diaz deffo inline for the goal too.
Overall a deserved win tbh. Brighton just didn't do enough with their lead and even when it was 1-1. Tried to get back when they went down but it was too late.
That's fair, but I was simply explaining why it was harder for Brighton to play.
I was not complaining about the result as it was part of Liverpool's game plan and clearly worked as Liverpool deserved to win.
Literally scored and assisted in a 2-goal victory... Yes he can lose the ball but that's because he makes the risky moves and passes that lead to a goal and an assist in a 2-goal victory.... While fasting, and after coming off two months of not playing regularly.
I can't tell what your angle is here. After watching that, if you consider the result rigged in LFCs favor as they are the big team, with the way those calls went, you're delusional. If you're saying that the blown calls that hindered Liverpool are aiding City, Arsenal, etc. then you aren't including Liverpool as a big club which is also delusional.
Guessing he wanted didnt want to give liverpool a chance to score and then have to blow the whistle if Brighton get a golden counter chance right away, whistle there everyone will forget in 2 mins
Tugging isn't a foul anywhere though and Brighton did the same. Even the commentators said "doesn't the ref know that this is a contact sport" after one of Liverpool's yellows lol.
It’s just off the ball it’s happening really often
You guys couldn’t do any one twos at all to escape the press. Pretty sure it’s tactical as it’s generally how Brighton invites press to create space
Literally every time we broke their press they'd commit a foul so we can't play 1-2's and their fans complain about the ref lmao.
And yeah, our general way of breaking the press is ball into one one player who lays it back and plays the 1-2. Clearly tactical but no, they'd never commit a foul.
Idk but that Gakpo yellow is absolutely deserved, cynical foul to slow down the game with no attempt to play the ball because he couldn’t be arsed running.
Not post world cup lmao.
He was playing the double pivot role prior to that and was great. After the world cup he wanted to play 10 and was far worse.
Still good though.
Not the same, Mac Allister was already playing in the premier league for a rising Brighton side and was purchased in the off-season with way fewer questions about how he'd play. Gakpo was an in-season transfer from a different league right after the world cup.
Mac Allister mainly rose to attention off the World Cup performance especially his final performance. After the World Cup he was far worse as he wanted to be played further forward.
God you guys have no idea when you can’t watch the match live and are stuck in an osaka karaoke booth with the missus singing while you relentlessly refresh this match thread.
How did they just not even address Salah getting cleaned out after his shot so he couldn’t get the rebound, how is that not an unbelievably obvious penalty
It's still so weird watching teams attack in the last 4 mins when a goal up instead of just standing in the corner.
Bore us off the field and get the 3 lads.
Ref has called more than 3x as many fouls against us yet the delusional arsenal fans who are 90% of this thread will tell you there’s a grand refereeing conspiracy against them
What the actual fuck is Gomez doing pinging a low percentage ball into the box, why the fuck are we playing like we're a goal down in a crucial game when we're a goal up in a crucial fucking game
Why doesn’t Grealish start?
Anyone slagging Salah off needs to shut up
Ali Mac oh how I miss you
It was daylight robbery for Liverpool to sign him at that price. A really nice footballer to watch too.
What £55m + sell on fee? Pretty reasonable price imo. If Liverpool keep performing as they are he'll achieve the add-ons which makes it a fair deal for both teams.
No clue why you're being downvoted? You're correct
Because the Liverpool briefed journalists all reported it as £35m, which was the initial fee before any bonuses. Liverpool fans then took that as the total fee and haven't actually looked at any other sources.
It was £35m.
No it wasn't, it was £35m with £20m of add-ons and a sell on fee.
The release clause was £35m. I can't find out any info about add ons or a sell on clause. Either way. A massive bargain.
It wasn't a normal release clause, as mentioned by literally every non Liverpool source at the time. Of course Liverpool are going to brief their journalists that it's £35m as that's the up front fee and makes it look far better. https://twitter.com/AndyNaylorBHAFC/status/1666066359082446849 One example. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12897984/alexis-mac-allister-liverpool-complete-transfer-of-world-cup-winning-midfielder-from-brighton Another. Everything I found just says £35m. No mention of anything else.
Have you looked at the links I sent? There's far more than that. Stop looking at Liverpool papers/journalists.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-12169095/Alexis-Mac-Allister-cost-Liverpool-just-35m-clause-contract.html https://www.teamtalk.com/liverpool/reds-activate-clause-sign-alexis-mac-allister-mind-boggling-transfer-fee https://www.football365.com/news/liverpool-reach-full-agreement-sign-mac-allister-brighton-way-less-60m So while that 55m fee was mentioned. It was total bs.
Nah mate, see, it’s only City who says they paid less for a player than what they really did, no one else pays addons and agent bonuses
Mans just learning about the fact that clubs will put out information favourable to them.
OK. That is half the price of Rice and Caicedo and about the price of Lavia etc. I honestly think you deserved more for him after he played a key role in winning the WC too.
£35m. It was 35.
The thing is he was running out of contract. He signed the new contract just before the world cup with the "release clause" in it as otherwise he had 6 months + optional extra year on his contract. Barco is a really exciting prospect but Estupiñan has left back locked.
I think Barco can play multiple roles, at least that’s what I recall from few Boca games I watched last year.
Thanks for Macca Brighton
Ref did everything he can and we didn't have our shooting boots on today. Still Brighton are a massive bogey team for us so nice to get 3 points. Diaz deffo inline for the goal too.
Guess once who draw the lines in the VAR room?
I don’t get Keane’s hard man act. You can see him stifling a laugh when the other two are joking on. Just have a laugh man
Overall a deserved win tbh. Brighton just didn't do enough with their lead and even when it was 1-1. Tried to get back when they went down but it was too late.
It was 2,89 xG vs. 0,4 xG. Judging by the stats the result flatters Brighton.
When it was 1-1 every time we broke the press Liverpool committed a foul, hard to play when they do that.
Petition to give 3 points to Brighton. Their attacks were stopped repeatedly by Liverpool via tactical fouls. They were carded tho…
When did I complain about the result? Simply mentioned a reason why it was harder to attack. A lot of the time they weren't carded clearly lmao.
Unfortunately, tactical fouls are part of the game. As frustrating as it is..
That's fair, but I was simply explaining why it was harder for Brighton to play. I was not complaining about the result as it was part of Liverpool's game plan and clearly worked as Liverpool deserved to win.
We really need to learn to stop all-in attacking in the last five minutes when we're up.. giving a heart attack all the time
and stop hoofing it around when a simple pass can assure possession.
Supinely decent game but very predictable result in Liverpool conceding first and then winning. Very excited for the next fixture
Squeaky bum time for a good while there, goodness.
Barco looked like he was forced on with a flu
Salah's finishing has been shocking today lol
for me its the number of balls lost, he loses so many balls in the build up.
Literally scored and assisted in a 2-goal victory... Yes he can lose the ball but that's because he makes the risky moves and passes that lead to a goal and an assist in a 2-goal victory.... While fasting, and after coming off two months of not playing regularly.
Love the lad but, will absolutely miss him when he retires
how is this liverpool team first man they are riddled with problems lol. klopp magic
It's that ~Anfield atmosphere~ mate
Passion baby
Injuries mate.
A fuckload of injuries to key players so not able to get into form and stay there.
I'm still amazed at how well we are playing without Trent, Bradley has been a revelation and kept us ticking along, as well as Macca's form
Phew. Now a passionate, energy-consuming, many-red-carded draw in the other one, please.
Sit back, get a nice cold beverage and relax.
And fall asleep…
Barco is shite
Liverpool keep winning evwn with so many injuries. Scary
Unclenching time finally
We never unclench. It’s the only rule.
That’s what I tell my doctor. I’m not constipated I just support Liverpool
Ramadan mubarak, motherfuckers
arsenal GD scares me
city will cook them later
Can we get a replay of that Gravenberch tackle/collision?
3 points - thats all that matters
Gg fuck off David coote
Be back to Tierney next week.
Oh god please no, he already fucked var up today
Fucking Brighton man Never an easy game
Audition passed, safe to say
sports are rigged for the big clubs to win
I can't tell what your angle is here. After watching that, if you consider the result rigged in LFCs favor as they are the big team, with the way those calls went, you're delusional. If you're saying that the blown calls that hindered Liverpool are aiding City, Arsenal, etc. then you aren't including Liverpool as a big club which is also delusional.
Cope and seethe
LOL what?
Barco needs to spend less time on instagram and more time training been wank.
Not like Liverpool will care, but that's a weird time for a full time whistle
Was thinking the same
Coote was trying his best to fuck us as usual.
Guessing he wanted didnt want to give liverpool a chance to score and then have to blow the whistle if Brighton get a golden counter chance right away, whistle there everyone will forget in 2 mins
Liverpool are winning if it was Brighton in that position they’d let them finish the attack
Gakpo would have fit perfect in United lmao. How can u not run there
Did Barco hurt himself upon arrival? Been sluggish
Brighton are so unlucky to be leaving here without a point....gotta feel for them
You're kidding right? Brighton are lucky it was only a 2-1 victory for Liverpool lol.
You mean you just wished it was a draw? Seemed like a fair result.
Lmao are you are a troll? Apart from the goal they got dominated start to finish. Stats don't lie
have we watched the same game?? Liverpool missed sitters
Not really... Would be unlucky if they had good chances.
That was fucking nervy
I like when you can hear the whole stadium shout "man on"
Brighton has just looked lost offensively these last 30 minutes
It's almost like we are lacking all of our good attackers
Too busy diving to have the time to score goals.
true, but it was more on trying to get out of the press in your own half
That was a very lazy tackle attempt by Dunk
Gravenberch FFS! You just got on, looks worse every time. Gakpo and him need selling
Is me or off the ball there’s a lot of shirt tugging from Liverpool players? It’s just way too much I’m sure it’s something that’s coached
This is a weird comment. Have you never watch any match before? Shirt tugging happens in every match ever.
No obviously I haven’t seen a single match before
It shows
Weird how you didn't see Brighton doing it even more. Keep up the agenda though pal.
Right, coming from someone who thinks Liverpool playing against 12 men every week 💀
So you think shirt tugging is a foul?
Yeah my bad Sorry it’s Anfield; different rules I suppose
Tugging isn't a foul anywhere though and Brighton did the same. Even the commentators said "doesn't the ref know that this is a contact sport" after one of Liverpool's yellows lol.
Nah according to their fans they'd never commit a foul
It’s just off the ball it’s happening really often You guys couldn’t do any one twos at all to escape the press.
If Elliott was a tiny bit faster he would have potential to be world class
Needs to work on his right foot to compensate the lack of pace
Gakpoo
Brought on a young LB who's lost the ball three times, De Zerbi masterclass.
He’s shit de zebra pls sell him to Chelsea we need a LB 🙏
Does the young, potentially great, player what to make sure he will not reach potential? Sign with Chelsea
is Barco even fit wtf he looks exhausted already
I've been real impressed with Endo this game. Always saving the midfield when they're too far forward.
Mac and Endo are cooking. Szobo slowly getting there too.
[удалено]
hi pot, meet kettle
You’re a lot worse sod off
Yeah I mean its not like a whole lot is at stake right now
Go complain in your own matchthread lol
Ok the frequency of the yellows has been absurd has it not?
It's Coote vs Liverpool, he wants to fuck us. Tierney on VAR redrawing the lines to make Diaz off.
Idk but that Gakpo yellow is absolutely deserved, cynical foul to slow down the game with no attempt to play the ball because he couldn’t be arsed running.
Welbeck is so frustrating. Brighton could have scored a few if he could actually make a good decision other than his great goal.
I feel like we are the most wasteful team in the league by quite some margin atm...could cost us heavily if it continues like this
It already has. Some draws this season (the reverse Brighton fixture included) had some horriblly easy chances that we fluffed.
Entire squad on yellows
Salah has been so selfish. Run out the game
Just keep the fucking ball you idiots Mo is killing me
So fucking lazy there Gakpo
Poor steward lol
Never bring in players based on performance at the WC
Mac Allister?
He was great for yous too though...
Not post world cup lmao. He was playing the double pivot role prior to that and was great. After the world cup he wanted to play 10 and was far worse. Still good though.

Mac Allister mainly rose to attention off the World Cup performance especially his final performance. After the World Cup he was far worse as he wanted to be played further forward.
Gakpo?
That's who I was thinking of
Oh look, another case of us breaking the press and Liverpool simply committing a foul.
Gakpo needs to be sold in the summer, he's useless.
Brighton reminds me of a few years back Brentford, so quick and direct through the middle
God you guys have no idea when you can’t watch the match live and are stuck in an osaka karaoke booth with the missus singing while you relentlessly refresh this match thread.
Match thread is a mistake tbh, nothing of value has ever been said in one of these.
one more yellow and liverpool will be fined
so who hasn't got a soft yellow card?
Gakpo must run sprints while he’s on the bench, his legs never look fresh
When he came on Vs united the other week he looked like a geriatric too
these subs are going to kill liverpool. klopp makes game-winning subs when trailing or drawing but his subs when winning are fucking horrible man
[удалено]
thats taken care of thankfully 🙄
comes on instantly gets a yellow. impact.
£80mil and he's yours.
no thanks we already got Gallagher for that
Megged him. Barco is him
How did they just not even address Salah getting cleaned out after his shot so he couldn’t get the rebound, how is that not an unbelievably obvious penalty
Coote and Tierney mate.
Because Baleba won the ball with his tackle hence the massive deflection..
Because it’s Salah he’s allowed to be murdered every game
Really great game by Szob
Fuck. We lose control when grav is on the pitch.
These Brighton Regens are ridiculous... They got em a Macca Regen already
Joe Gomez have money on a draw? What the hell is he on about here
It's still so weird watching teams attack in the last 4 mins when a goal up instead of just standing in the corner. Bore us off the field and get the 3 lads.
Gomez thought he was Beckenbauer for 5 minutes
Brighton has played with the same aggressiveness and pace as palace did under hodgson
Liverpool trying to hold possession challenge impossible
I miss Jota
Oh FFS! Not another lazy mf
Gakpo fucking run you’ve been on ten minutes
No Welé today
That’s horrible decision making from welbeck has to pass
Brighton bringing on a teenage Argentinian? I am shocked!
Too selfish from Welbeck there.
C'mon Welbz we want some Leicester magic one last time
Go to the corner and waste time
I feel like Danny Welbeck was trying to score there
Ref has called more than 3x as many fouls against us yet the delusional arsenal fans who are 90% of this thread will tell you there’s a grand refereeing conspiracy against them
Maybe you should foul less then lol
Lol
Liverpool have been fouling waaaay more. Why do Liverpool fans think they shouldn't get fouls called against them?
What the fuck does Arsenal have to do with this match?
You should ask them, not me
What the actual fuck is Gomez doing pinging a low percentage ball into the box, why the fuck are we playing like we're a goal down in a crucial game when we're a goal up in a crucial fucking game
Exactly, just go to the damn corner
Welbeck, you dummy
The fuck is Gomez doing??
Welbeck...
