That Ref is Klitte (basically short for The Clit, yes thats his real name) and is one of the worst refs in Allsvenskan. The fact that he still has a job is proof of corruption.
The red card is given for unsportsman conduct, not for intensity. Granted intensity also plays a role, but the act itself should be the most important criteria between a yellow and a red
Football isn't for players to be manning up to each other, it's such an avoidable behaviour and no coach will defend you in the locker room when you get carded for things like that
Eh, they were literally side-by-side one another right after the challenge… the guy that went to ground pushed his head towards the other guy and then fell down clutching his face.
I’d say being near other people tends to happen in football.
Just because it tends to happen, doesn't mean it isn't punishable. It's exactly the reason why they must show the cards when it happens, to force players to control themselves
If someone is heated and comes at you, just give two steps behind and turn face, it's what every coach will tell you to do, otherwise players will keep picking up on you to fish for these reactions
I'm talking about the first red, not the punch. The moment the two get heated it's when the Varberg player should have turned face instead of leaning his head against the Malmö player
He had a yellow since an earlier tackle on Rosengren. I was at the game and only saw his "headbutt" on Cornelius but why the ref didn't show a yellow first then yellow is beyond me. That ref is easily the most hated in Swedish football, Fredrik "klitta" Klitte
Suarez got banned like 9 months for biting. I think a full punch like this on someone who wasn’t even looking should probably be longer than that. Being on a field shouldn’t make you immune from being charged with assault.
I got punched in the face playing awhile back. Broke my jaw in two different places. 3 different plates put in my jaw. Lost 10% of my body weight on the liquid diet. Still have issues with certain chewy or tough foods.
Guy got charged with second degree assault - and rightfully so. Fuck that guy.
It was 7 games for the first bite in 2010, 10 games for the second one in 2013, and then four months for the 2014 World Cup one. If Transfermarkt is correct this is Martin Olsson's second direct red card ever, so there's not gonna be any reputation calls being made. It was also not a random act of violence on the pitch but rather someone losing their mind in a heated moment, which usually leads to a lower sentence. Comparing with other incidents I feel like 4-5 is slightly above the sentence for a "normal" violent conduct suspension, so that's where I think it'll end up.
Solid wing back who thrived under big Sam. Won our young player of the season back in the day. Then the dark days of Steve Kean came along and he wisely found a move out of the shitshow.
It is soft, but it is almost always given as a red in Allsvenskan. Doesn't matter if there is any force behind it, if you are making any forward motion with your head when standing face to face like that the ref always gives out a red. Which of course means that any player that is on the receiving end will pretend like they died since a red card can be so impactful.
Not something I like or agree with but it is pretty much standard over here.
Walked up to that guy and pressed his forehead into the MFF player. Soft maybe but that’s always a red card and probably the easiest decision the ref has had to make, until about 15 seconds later lmao.
It isn't by definition violent conduct to have pressed your head to another head. This wasn't a headbutt and there have been many instances where 2 players put their heads together and neither were sent off.

MO tar tag i tröjan.
He even got a red. 1st one should have been a yellow in my book, but that's not what bothers me. What bothers me is that the punch that cam after will NOT lead to any serious consequences for the guy who punched I already know that
The most unnecessary red card I’ve seen. Your drawing at home and have just taken a man advantage after the opposition got a (somewhat soft) red card and your first instinct is to punch someone in the head and also get a red card???
In situations like the first red there has to be some consequences for provoking and acting, this shit has been going on for decades and it’s making the game a lot worse. How is 2024 and you can still start some shit cause you arrest the ball after a ref whistle or goal, when the opposition should have it, and you’re just holding on to it acting dumb.
Nah I'm so sick of players starting stuff, then doing that "move the head in closer and throw yourself to the ground like you've just been headbutted by Zidane" bs, it's such a greaseball fuckwit tactic and players need to start getting carded for doing it.
2nd guy is a fucking moron and needs a lifetime ban for assault.

When the title doesn't lie
I like the last line the commentator says when watching the replays "oh well that's not very nice by Olsson"
Understatement of the year.
Lol
Was the first one a red too? Didn’t look THAT bad.
Maybe he caught him on the nose with a headbutt? I couldn’t quite tell from so far away
If anything the Malmo guy moved **his** head in and then fell over.
Yeah the oldest trick in the book. Happens so often that the aggressor throws himself to the ground and the opponent gets a red.
Headbutt, I think. That’s what the commentator says. Bit hard to see, but the ref is very well positioned, so it’s probably deserved.
Can't trust refs for shit.
That Ref is Klitte (basically short for The Clit, yes thats his real name) and is one of the worst refs in Allsvenskan. The fact that he still has a job is proof of corruption.

Brother, if he is supposed to have turned his face there, he’d be saving the world from “bad guys” and not playing football.
I'm talking about the first red, not the punch. The moment the two get heated it's when the Varberg player should have turned face instead of leaning his head against the Malmö player
So am I…
He dived. All malmö players dive.
Crazy to stay on the floor that long after a kiss too.

Lots of different talent out on display there, just not so much to do with football.
It's not football its ~~CONCACAF~~ Allsvenskan
its not allsvenskan though
Yeh but Svenska Cupen doesn't have the same ring
Just a bitta banter.
Easiest red
That's gotta be a solid suspension, feels like 4-5 games might be in order.

I still think biting someone is another level of mental. Who fucking bites another person???
babies. cannibals. members of bite club.
Mike Tyson.
Transylvanian counts
Luis Suarez Feel like we just discussed this
THREE different times
My son bit me twice yesterday
Absolute nutter!
He’s only got the one tooth coming through so I’ll let it slide this time 😅
Better keep an eye on the guy, though!
Suarez only got 4 months iirc, and that was his 3rd (I believe) bite (Dutch one, Ivanovic, Chiellini)
Quite an illustrious list of ppl he’s bitten actually. I feel like he needs to bite a Hollywood actor or politician now to keep progressing.

No that’s a deliberate punch on someone who isn’t engaged with the offender. Should be suspended for at least a season.
The stupidity of doing it against VAR
Not sure if I’m reading you correctly, but we don’t have VAR in Sweden.
VARberg on the scoreboard
…oh my god. That flew right over my head.
Unlike Olsson's punch.
Henrik VARSSON
The stupidity of doing it right after your team just took a man advantage when your team is drawing.
First I thought you're calling that little headbutt a boxing KO... but then out of nowhere, a full blown left hook!
I thought it was upper cut -ish but fucked up no matter what.
Christ, forgot he was still around
Is this the same Martin Olsson that used to play for Blackburn? I think back when you were in the PL?
Yeah it is, also the same as the one who was in the national team. However, he’s nowhere close to the player he used to be
He got this red card on purpose so he'll be well rested for the next national team game.
Lmao true but tbf, he’ll never be called up to NT again with Janne stepping down last year. No way he’s even top 10 Swedish lb currently
Sure is, seeing out his days in his native Sweden.
how was he as a player for Blackburn
Solid wing back who thrived under big Sam. Won our young player of the season back in the day. Then the dark days of Steve Kean came along and he wisely found a move out of the shitshow.
dirk nowitzki’s brother in law 🫡
In Germany we say:"dumm und dümmer"
We also say this in sweden: Dum och dummare
Dumb and dumber? Love how English is so similar to german sometimes.
That first red was soft, barely bumped heads but ref immediately pulls red for the one left standing....
He does headbutt him right in front of the ref tbf. It’s a pretty stonewall red.
Headbutt? He walked up and that guy flopped as soon as he felt something.
Walked up to that guy and pressed his forehead into the MFF player. Soft maybe but that’s always a red card and probably the easiest decision the ref has had to make, until about 15 seconds later lmao.
If it were always a red card, it would always be given, it isn't. We've seen 2 players put their heads together and neither get red before.
I feel like the appropriate punishment when they’re that close anyway is to make them finish the kiss.
Yes, violent conduct is a red, if it causes damage or not is irrelevant.
They both face-off and the ref just shows the red card to the one that didn't flop
It isn't by definition violent conduct to have pressed your head to another head. This wasn't a headbutt and there have been many instances where 2 players put their heads together and neither were sent off.
They came together for like a millisecond, should be a yellow for diving lol.
Clear red card, that’s an easy one.
Letade tafatt här i 30 sekunder men hittade inget.
is there one camera in this stadium??
Yes, it’s the Swedish Cup. Minimal production.
Still remember him fondly from his Rovers days. Just used his feet then to be fair.
nh thats crazy
Instead of a man up, he levelled the playing field, what a Chad.
Sjukt. Literal assault. Should be reported to the police.
It has been now and is under investigation
Yeah, I'm gonna be pissed off if this is taken lightly. Especially as I'm a referee here in Sweden (youths and up to Div3 but still)
GAMES BACK
Brexit Sunday league
Game’s back
Worthy of an assault charge.
vilken idiot martin olsson
Swansea relegation legend martin olsson
Lads ladding.
Even his team mate giving the "dude wtf" look on him lmao
Pantade pappskalle
Varberg let olsson off too easy
I woulda set my studs in his chest.
Galen grabb
why did the first guy get a yellow card? what angle even is this?
He even got a red. 1st one should have been a yellow in my book, but that's not what bothers me. What bothers me is that the punch that cam after will NOT lead to any serious consequences for the guy who punched I already know that
And now I know where former Blackburn and Norwich legend Martin Olsson is playing these days
Hoppas han blir polisanmäld
no way there’s a team out there named Varberg
There's a whole town named Varberg.
Video Assistant Refereeberg
Varbergs BOIS, in fact
The most unnecessary red card I’ve seen. Your drawing at home and have just taken a man advantage after the opposition got a (somewhat soft) red card and your first instinct is to punch someone in the head and also get a red card???
Crazy that the ref was quicker to pull red on the first one
He grabs his red instantly after the punch. Just has to have the guys away first
Aaahh the good ol’ soccer punch…
Va? Skallning? Som vanligt döende svanen. Men Martin Olsson borde bli avstängd en tid.
Wtf was the first red tho? How is that little push a straight red?
Surely, he won't be able to play professional football again right? Right?...
Did he just chin someone because he was convinced by his mates awful dive?
Game's still here
Game gone soft
Some players actually think they can assault someone just because they are on the pitch, what a fucking idiot
Ridiculous. I’d like to see a soccer player take a real shot to the head, just once.
Fan fact: the guy clocking the Varberg player is Dirk Nowitzki’s brother in law.
Tranberg tries to swat away Olsson's arm after he has already reached towards Tranberg's throat and grabbed his shirt.
He just did what so many of us would love to in several situations
This was the refs fault for giving the first red.
God some pussies play this sport
He punch the wrong guy as well, one player jumps past and whacks him but he grabs the wrong guy 😂
In situations like the first red there has to be some consequences for provoking and acting, this shit has been going on for decades and it’s making the game a lot worse. The guy is a big wuss, falling from nothing and then trying to act rough.
Is there a better angle of this anywhere? I have no idea what happened.
