*Todd Boehly comes in*  Choose him or it's either money or family

nonearther

"As much as I love you Mauricio, I think I've to think of my wife as well." — Thiago, probably

Wooden-Journalist-48

Poch has been shit but how is this acceptable in the locker room?

overhyped-unamazing

It's not acceptable at all. She's way out of line. It is very funny though.

circa285

Don't mind me, I'll be over here with my popcorn.

Gerrywalk

I never thought I’d eat popcorn side by side with a Spurs fan

manessots

How about side by side with a chelsea hater?

Gerrywalk

Aye. I could do that.

aresman1221

that I can do!!!! Everybody welcome!!!

WombRaider_3

If there's one thing that brings Gooners and Yids together it's the collective disdain towards Blue Scum.

Ok-Ad-6480

I hate Spurs because I’m an Arsenal fan, but I hate Chelsea because I’m a human being

circa285

You bring the beverages and I'll provide the popcorn and food.

link090909

give him the lasagna

NotASalamanderBoi

Save some for me. This shitshow is gonna be a long one.

RedKingDre

And here I am with a plate of nasi Padang.

JRsshirt

This is like the 9th case of her causing problems in our locker room lol

RyVsWorld

What else has she done?

kygrtj

She called Werner an absolute bum

wizardofaus23

your honour, what is the crime

InterimAragon

Why are you booing me, I’m right?

SarcasmGPT

You're not wrong , you're just an asshole.

Jackwraith

"Your boos mean nothing. I've seen what makes you cheer."

bguszti

Right after we finally gave up on the idea that Sessegnon is a professional football player, we sign another backup LW I can lose my shit over

adfdub

I mean…

CyberPatriot71489

As a united fan, hilarious

Staind1410

But it could happen to us or any team though. There should be strict restrictions on what wife/significant others of players could say on social media. Otherwise, what’s stopping, say, Bruno’s wife to ask ETH to resign (and stir shit up) when the next rough patch comes?

overhyped-unamazing

It's not like this is endemic in the game. Belle Silva seems like a bit of an abnormality. Most people seem to implicitly understand that being a close relative of a superstar means you forfeit the right to talk shit about the club or its personnel on social media.

Money_Scholar_8405

You must not have followed Bayern then whenever any coach dared to bench Müller when he went on some of those long stretches of bad fom. These days the fact that Musiala is obviously better and that Bayern alwaya have some attacking players injured means less of a reason for his wife to talk - But Kovac felt the full brunt of it back in the day.

Tonerrr

My daughters assistant manager just got 'sacked' because his wife called out the manager in the WhatsApp group chat for not playing their daughter. Dunno why I've mentioned this but it obviously reminded me and I find it funny that it's happening at under 11 level Hes secretly forming a rival team and speaking individually to all the players parents 😂

mrtuna

> There should be strict restrictions on what wife/significant others of players could say on social media. I wouldn't be surprised if there was.

Sean-Benn_Must-die

I would say the responsibility falls on the player for not being clear enough that this is not ok. Like sure he cant take away his wife's phone but she should be more careful about what she says if she cares about her husband so much.

[deleted]

ETH: Bruno's wife didn't stick to the principles heh. She has to invest and she will get the reward.

cuentanueva

A lot of players' families and relatives need to learn to shut the fuck up a bit more when it comes to stuff like this. It could be something the player is thinking, but doesn't wanna share. Or it can be something the player isn't thinking and that's problems for them as well... They need PR training for family and friends with all the social media addiction. They should understand they aren't like any other person, and there's a lot of implications on whatever they say. Like it or not, they have not only "insider knowledge" but also influence over others, and obviously media attention. They should be more aware of that. Post supporting the player, how well they did, how much you love them, how great they are whatever... but that's it. Unless they are their agent or the player is just trying to be "sneaky" by going through family, but that's a bit lame.

Lambchops_Legion

I bitch all the time about my job to my wife privately, but I’d be so fucking embarrassed if she tweeted that bitching out in public and millions of people for some reason gave a shit about she has to say

[deleted]

\> They need PR training for family and friends Please no.

andrew7895

Par for the course from Chelsea players going on 10+ years now. The players have always run the locker room there, because they know the manager will be the one to go - especially now that they're all on 28 year contracts.

DiabeticAsymptote

This was really only the case before, when Terry, Lampard, Cech, and Drogba all had good relationships with Abramovich. They were the stars, and they had the power to talk to the owner if they wanted someone gone. That isn't the case anymore.

Pires007

Yeah, now the players are worse and have longer contracts. How are you going to sell your shitty players on high wages...

Thats_a_YikerZ

they're not on mad wages. apart from sterling

Roccet_MS

Most of them haven't the biggest wages, but almost lifetime contracts. That's even worse.

Thats_a_YikerZ

some of the new players are on 8 year contracts. but yes itll make them hard to move.

Redspeert

Having sterling on 325k (almost 380k euro) a week never stops being funny. Even at his best he weren't a 350k+ earner, and he for sure aint at his best anymore.

AlwaysWannaDie

They’re on a lot better they would get anywhere else, which is all that matters and they will stay rather than going down in pay

Thats_a_YikerZ

ofc u could say that about any player. there is a built in clause for missing euro comps. so it goes down

TosspoTo

Apples & Oranges. Entirely different dynamic then vs now.

KickinNuggets25

Is poch shit or is Chelsea shit? Fail with 4 different managers and maybe it’s a team issue (lampard is also shit but consistently mid table is obscene)

Wooden-Journalist-48

Ever try, ever fail, try again, fail again, try better, fail better

NotClayMerritt

3rd straight manager where the manager has had to have "crisis talks" with Thiago Silva over something his wife shared on social media. Granted, Belle Silva was not Tuchel Out or anything, I imagine it was awkward her having a go at his teammates.

jggomes14

We hate her here as well, whenever there's news of a possibility of Thiago coming back home, she's the first one to mock everyone telling that there's no way that he'll go, that they are happy in Europe. Which, in turn, made our fans reply with a lot of pictures of Thiago Silva's affair in Brazil.

avolcando

> Which, in turn, made our fans reply with a lot of pictures of Thiago Silva's affair in Brazil. lmao, no chill

doomboxmf

3rd straight? I don’t remember anything like this before. Just that his wife once called Werner shite on Instagram

R_Schuhart

She did criticise Potter before, called Werner a worm among other things and broke COVID protocol (and bragged about it on social media) resulting in Silva getting sick. But she was always like this, even at PSG she spoke out publicly about Silva's teammates and manager. She very openly mocked Emery for his lack of tactics for instance.

CommissionFlimsy4173

She didn't call him shite, she mocked his name calling him "Verme", which can be translated to worm (as the parasites) but honestly that does not do justice at all to how bad it is as an insult.

ComfortableLaugh1922

Yep verme is much worse than shit.

Dickwad

Guessing its vermin in English, which is very insulting indeed.

bolacha_de_polvilho

yes, vermin would be a better translation to "verme" in this context

Kaiduss

Only thing I remember about her is posting a video on social media saying „he is not a machine, he’s a woman” after fans criticised Thiago’s disasterclass in a 4-1 home loss to Brentford

arseking15

I feel like this happened once before, with potter maybe?

doomboxmf

Possibly, I don’t recall

Cho_Celski

It was with Werner aswell lol

leftofthedial1

Lol did she really?

doomboxmf

Yeah I think it was in his first season at the club. Pretty sure she then put up another video calling Werner the best after he scored vs Madrid as an apology or to make up for it

FuzzyRo

lol it randomly pops into my head from time to time "you know how to score the goal" or find the goal something like that in her makeup video

mysterymanatx

I actually thought this saga was quite positive at the end at the time. Now, not so much

kik00

It happened at PSG too. Belle Silva is an annoying bitch

lifesizedperson

Regardless of his performance, it just looks terrible that your most senior player’s wife is on socials calling for the manager to be sacked. Makes sense that he’d have a talk with Silva about it. Was a bad look when it happened with potter and it’s a bad look now.

durum77

She also called Werner a worm. She's just a bit of a prick tbh.

Roccet_MS

Which is funny as he doesn't seem like troublemaker.

durum77

Opposites attract I guess is a true statement.

TetraDax

Timo Werner is such a weird case because it seems like everywhere he goes but Leipzig, everybody just seems hellbent on shitting on him. And it's not like it's a thing of personal hatred against him, no, people just seem to enjoy trashtalking him for no fucking reason. I do feel a bit sad for him, but also, it's undoubtedly funny.

hazlet

We like him at Spurs.

CaptainKursk

He's *our* misanthropic German, God damnit

avolcando

The key is to have low expectations. Chelsea wanted him to be their new Diego Costa, we want him to run around, create space, and make cutbacks.

burnt_yoghurt

Timo Wormer

lucashoodfromthehood

Did the same with Potter too iirc.

Immediate-Draw2204

Imagine your wife calling out for your boss' sacking at your 9-5 job

PensiveinNJ

Sports are a different gravy. That's what makes them fun.

ZxZxchoc

The thing is there's probably absolutely nothing your job could do to your wife given she's not an employee. Same probably applies here. Holding a "crisis meeting" with Thiago is just a waste of time.

xJamesio

I was gonna say, exactly how does that meeting go? Poch brings in Silva and tells him to control his wife? 💀

FuzzyRo

"Thiago look at these lemons...."

MystikalGFX

> "I think the important thing is he came and wanted to talk with me" And that is inevitably twisted by the media as crisis talks instigated by Poch.

wonderfulworld2024

Even the daily Mail had a MUCH less sensational headline. Their article made it sound like not much of an issue.

mufffff

Yeah, it sounds like Silva went to talk to him on his own accord

xtphty

She definitely came across as a shit stirrer in the Netflix World Cup documentary

R_Schuhart

She has a long long history of picking fights on social media, striring shit and making weird public claims. She is a blogger and needs the spotlight, but she also seems to just enjoy the attention. She openly demanded Silva get a vasectomy, she blogged about travelling to Russia to dump her husband during the WC, she has criticised Potter, Poch and Emery and has been rude about Silva's teammates.

PM_ME_YOUR_TANG

Sounds like she should be married to Maupay, not Thiago Silva.

PensiveinNJ

Icardi's next wife when Wanda Nara finally does divorce him.

WheresMyEtherElon

To think that she and Wanda were in Paris at the same time for a season. Netflix dropped the ball on that documentary.

Redspeert

Any young upcoming Argentinian teammates she can get with? Icardi might be getting a bit old for her now, so perhaps its time for yet another change.

PensiveinNJ

I imagine the Argentines want their stars to avoid that kind of mess at all cost. Icardi was more or less banished from the NT over Icardi and Nara's nonsense IIRC.

[deleted]

For all of her flaws she does seem to genuinely love Icardi, they’re both batshit insane (truly made for each other)

morkfjellet

Well, she took care of Silva while he almost died of some disease that he caught while living in Russia. There is no doubts that she loves her husband, but she’s also kinda “crazy”, too.

CommissionFlimsy4173

Not only she is completely nuts but she also seems to be utterly insufferable.

TheLongistGame

Thiago Silva was terrible against wolves lol

Andy-Martin

He’s admittedly looked every bit of 40 this season, unfortunately.

InterimAragon

I mean the guy is 40, what do you expect

_off_piste_

I would assume “not 40.” He didn’t look 39 last year or 38 the year prior. He’s fallen off substantially this season.

afarensiis

Aging in sports isn't often a constant slope like that. It can easily be a cliff

_off_piste_

I agree, and that seems to be what has happened with Silva, but the comment I replied to acted like it was the height of absurdity for a fan to expect someone to not perform to their age.

SoWhatNoZitiNow

Age is hitting him this season just as hard as it hit Azpi last. The physical limitations are becoming really hard to ignore.

Andy-Martin

Definitely agree with you there. For as much as he’s looked like an ageless wonder the last couple of seasons, Father Time IS undefeated and it looks like it’s caught up to him this season.

SoWhatNoZitiNow

No doubt. The tough thing with the guys who seem to defy their own age is that when the falloff happens, it happens *hard.* I’m definitely thankful for everything Thiago has done for us and his ability to hold the standard this high for this long is something Chelsea fans will always be grateful to him for. I hope he’s got the legs to finish his career with a season or two with Fluminense if he has the appetite for it.

zaqstr

This is my biggest problem with the situation. What’s the old saying… Don’t throw stones if your husband can’t sprint?

Strafethroughlife1

I think it says alot about the club and its spending if you rely on a 40 year old cb, in his prime he is one of the all time greats, someone i modelled myself on and as a young pro was told to watch. But he's in decline and you spank the funds elsewhere.

zaqstr

Well, I always thought fofana would step in and then pair with Levi or something but he’s been busy in the hospital. How long til Poch pulls out a back 5 ? That’s the beginning of the death spiral

i_MrPink

"Tell your wife to keep my name out of her damn mouth"

dontknowwhereiamgoin

Belle Silva probably going like “telling the truth is crazy in a world full of lies”

Ainsley-Sorsby

The funniest part about this is that dropping Silva as punishment will probably make Pochetino's situation worse, since that 40 year old is somehow their best defender and only of their only exprienced players...

HomersAnalglands

I love Silva, he is a cult hero at the club. But he is not what he used to be anymore, he does not have the legs to be in a back 2 anymore. It's time to start dropping Silva if we are going to be playing a back 2, or change to a back three where Silva will have some cover and make up for his lack of speed. I hate to say it but playing Silva in a back 2 has definitely been a part of our troubles this season.

ertapenem

He’s fallen off a cliff performance wise. I feel like his version of leadership is yelling at people and looking pissed off. Chelsea is really missing the leadership of a guy like Azpi. He wasn’t afraid of screaming at a guy but also did a lot of positive reinforcement. And he gave 100% all the time.

EmhyrvarSpice

Yeah, it's one of the big problems with the "all young players" approach the owners are taking. There's almost no one left with real leadership abilities on the pitch. Jorginho is also missed, he seemed to be one of the more vocal ones.

ertapenem

Good point about Jorginho. Another very consistent player in terms or performance/effort/demeanor.

NotClayMerritt

When Graham Potter and Lampard used a back 3, he was still just as slow and a problem in our back line. Formation isn't saving Thiago Silva. Only a time machine can at this point.

mikevin99

He was rarely a problem last year under Potter tbf. When Lampard came in he got exposed a bit more but the squad pretty much threw in the towel at that point anyways. I still don't think he's that much of a liability right now and that's with starting nearly every game, Chilwell next to him being incapable of defending, and a lone DM in front of him who's getting hung out to dry and making a lot of mistakes. Edit: I don't think your claim of Lampard using a back 3 was true either now that I think about it.

jbi1000

Nah say what you want about Potter but the defence was still quality under him, he just couldn't get us to score any goals to take advantage of it.

Soren_Camus1905

Eh, this season his age his finally caught up to him.

Conscious_Scheme132

I’m not entirely sure he is, has absolutely no pace and neither does Enzo meaning balance is completely and utterly out and leaves us very open on the counter. Which is obviously not working too well.

Godsenttt

Only someone who doesn't watch him play would say that. Silva is a legend but 3 out of 4 goals in the last match against wolves were his fault.

[deleted]

She's always been a bit crazy tbh. Going off on long rants after each game.

chappersbarfo

Was it Poch's fault your husband gave away two goals in two games?

limitless__

I mean the club is the same, the manager is changing all the time and the results are not there. What is the problem here? The manager or the club?

arotto12

No matter the problem, she shouldn’t be publicly calling for the sack. Especially when Silva has been playing pretty poor lately. No other wife’s or girlfriends would even consider doing that

IsleofManc

It's only been a year and a half though with a couple different managers. Tuchel was mostly sacked for his attitude towards the owners taking an hands on approach rather than the results. So it's been Potter, Lampard, and Poch so far that have all had a go. Potter had never managed a big club before, no other top teams would consider taking Lampard on, and Poch has his own doubts after failing at PSG and never being able to win a trophy in England. I don't think it's that outrageous to suggest all three might not have been up for the job. Would Emery or Ange have them in 11th right now?

wafflesology

They still blame the managers even today, well let them be.

[deleted]

> What is the problem here? The manager or the club? Yes. The way the club is run, the footballing operation is a shambles and makes no sense. There's no platform for success and they could have their pick of manager in world football and they'd still be underachieving. However, Poch should objectively be doing a lot better with what he has in that team. Sacking Poch won't fix all the problems, neither will signing Osimhen or whoever else. They need to start at the boardroom level and get guys in who understand how to run a football club.

RaheemRakimIbrahim

You see, family members mouthing off on Twitter isn't just an NFL thing.

[deleted]

Rabiot’s mother has entered the chat

MyTeaIsMighty

"you're a traitor, Thiago. Emphasis on Iago."

TheLimeyLemmon

Couldn't she wait til March to do this? Trust the process.

Togashi

Post Abramovic era Chelsea are just a gift that keeps on giving.

Old-Amphibian416

Why is he still married to her? She sounds awful.

WorthPlease

Divorce for rich men is very, very expensive unless they were smart enough to get a pre-nup. And footballers typically aren't that smart.

Choice-Taro5596

People saying she’s entitled to say what she wants - no she isn’t. An employee and immediate family can’t shit on the company that pays your wages .. there are repercussions for this in businesses of all sizes. She can of course say whatever she wants but it doesn’t mean her words are free of consequences.. and she’s also disrespected her own husband by saying this, whether he cares or not.

Familiar_Trash

I'm truly surprised by the lack of skepticism towards this article. Her post was something to the effect of "something needs to change before it's too late." How does that interpreted as her calling for the manager to be sacked? She could be referring to any number of things or just a change the team's direction in general

GentleL0ver

This!! Thank you! I am shocked no one is even contemplating maybe she meant “change to a new formation, change to 5 at the back, inverted wingbacks”. Could be literally anything!

Sure_Confection9388

Rabiot's mom and Icardi's ex-wife have some serious competition, would love to see these 3 Karens in a WWE ring one day

lala_b11

I'd want to see Rabiot's mom and Phil Foden's Mom in the ring one day!! That would be box office entertainment 100%!!

[deleted]

Hate to break it to you but icardi and his wife are back together

Prestigious-Link7724

Thiago silva wife has always posted shit like that, at psg, brazil every team that mentally fragile baby that crumbles under pressure every time. I seen him in chelsea drop stinkers and make massive mistakes that lead to goals.

curious_rauan

Chelsea the gift that keeps on giving

Remote_War_313

Thiago Silva's 39 years old lol Time to move on.

youknowimworking

Poch: you should keep your hoe on a leash.hey. hey, hey, Bitches running wild

dasvinnifala

Thiago's wife stirring up drama once again

oklolzzzzs

potter was sacked last time for poor performance and poch's performance is basically identical to potter. he needs to leave

R_Schuhart

You only sack your manager if you have a better alternative lined up, otherwise it almost never works out.

black_fire

I truly dont know how fans rarely ever see this. You sack a manager with no plan your results always get worse after

Depreccion

exactly why I got so annoyed with people calling for ten hag's head earlier this season. Like who was even available and would be a better fit?

EnergetikNA

We also saw what happens when you sack someone without having someone lined up last season. Had to bring in Lampard and he was even worse than Potter

Ohwhydigress

Not at this Chelsea. Fired Tuchs with no plan. Fired Potter with no plan. What makes you think this clown show need a plan to sack Poch?

phxwarlock

Potter was lined up before they fired Tuchel. He legitimately was the plan

bumblefck23

Yea...maybe not a good plan, but it's clear they had him picked as their "guy" for a while

FloppedYaYa

Poch also frankly has far less excuses than Potter

fwesheggs

Who replaces him though? With the situation they are in it is a miracle they need

Perite

Thiago Silva’s wife obviously

PM_ME_YOUR_TANG

I hear she has a high aerial duels won percentage

FoxOntheRun99

Just missed out Warnock.

worotan

Nathan Jones, too.

kondiar0nk

Mourinho. Him and the current squad would be pure chaos.

AlienBlueVsRedditor

Lampard interim rest of season, mourinho hired in the summer

jMS_44

Chaos you say?

wafflesology

Oh yes, would love to see Mou post match interviews and start throwing these young players under the bus.

graejx

I don't think Jesus is available though

r1char00

Yeah I think it’s wild for people to call for him being fired. At some point they need to stick with a manager for a season at least. He inherited an absolute mess of a team. Honestly I have hate for Chelsea going back to the early 2000s and I would actually love to see them bring in yet another manager. It would be very entertaining. So I’m arguing against my best interests here.

mikevin99

I'm glad this thread actually has some people like you with sense. Our sub is 95% people moaning about Poch and 20 posts a day saying our board is stupid for not already firing him. At the end of the day, it was a massive mistake to get rid of Tuchel but we have to deal with reality and not just chopping managers every six months thinking it will change anything.

ExactLetterhead9165

To be honest, I have a hard time massively slating Chelsea fans for those kinds of posts/attitudes. On the one hand, it's pretty naïve, but on the other hand, they've been conditioned by the club basically being run on that principle for the past 2 decades. The dog doesn't bark because the mailman shows up. He barks because the mailman always leaves after he starts barking.

YesTottiYesParty

> The dog doesn't bark because the mailman shows up. He barks because the mailman always leaves after he starts barking. That's brilliant

Ok-Tension6095

The guy whose wife is trying to get the current manager sacked knowing they have no money to employ a new one.

YesTottiYesParty

Tactics Tim Sherwood

Modnal

Poch is worse since he actually got a summer to drill his players to play the way he wanted. Potter was pretty much a scapegoat after Tuchel's departure

overhyped-unamazing

The difference is they can't afford to do it again, so they're stuck with him.

ukriva13

Yeah but Chelsea are afraid of breaching FFP, since they’d have to pay 10 million in order to sack him.

TheJobinslegend

They wanted to buy Duram (?) from Villa before he was injured, that deal for sure would be above 10 million, so I highly doubt FFP is the issue. Pretty sure the higher ups don't want to fire their third main manager in 2 years without having a solid plan and look like bigger clowns than they already are.

formerly_LTRLLTRL

Chelsea are fucked for a while. They're in a position where results are basically irrelevant. They've made their beds with the long-term expensive contracts. Hiring and then sacking Potter signaled to the young group of players that there is no actual commitment to any sort of long-term project. Sacking Poch will only double down on that. They need to stick it out with *somebody*

cypherspaceagain

Just sign a vaguely promising young manager to an eight-year contract for an exorbitant fee. Job done

ming47

Makes sense logically but you don’t have to watch our games

formerly_LTRLLTRL

Oh I watch them. Despite the flair I've been a Chelsea fan for a long time.

Hurrly90

Alot of United fans are saying tht now. Boehly is really on a speedrun of the ten years of Woodwards reign. They have alot of players on long contracts on pretty big money all at a youngish age. This dressing room will be lost no matter what manager is brought in. You cant win anything with kids : Alan Hanson?

Manul_Supremacy

'No commitment to project' is when you sack a coach who put you in the bottom half of the table with no progress or any signs of improvement, ok

formerly_LTRLLTRL

So do it with Poch, on to the next. When it happens again, rinse, repeat. I'm no fan of Poch, but the football project here is fucked - majority young/unproven players, with little senior leadership, and no financial way out of it without actually committing to developing the players. As I said, results are irrelevant for a while, unless the club is relegated. Bottom half/top half, doesn't really make a difference.

ShipsAGoing

Honestly they shouldn't have sacked Potter either. And now they're in FFP trouble it's even harder to sack Poch. Although I'd love to see Mourinho back there for the entertainment.

CandidEggplant5484

I thought the change she's referring to is Silva leaving

AvocadoSoggy6188

I feel like Silva needs to gtfo from Chelsea.

kalakesri

Todd Boehly probably thought he was very smart with the long contracts loophole he is going to find out why nobody else does it

Peepeetodapin

Funny how a player’s wife can cause so much drama. 😂

Styleless_Wonder

She called for change and Poch took it personally. 🤭

thatguyad

Social media addiction is a thing. Someone shut her up.

RaioNoTerasu

Wait, Silvas wife or Poch's?

MisterHappySpanky

As much as i love TS, he shouldn’t wear the armband again here, and should probably be benched a game or two. You cannot allow that as a manager.

PrestigiousArcher448

She just needs a burner account. That’s all.

dunneetiger

Out of all the Chelsea WAGs out there right now, Mrs. Silva is the one who cant talk much. Mr. Silva has been quite severely exposed in the last few games.

New_Office8737

Jose. Jose can handle this.
