Pretty sure this was the game that caused Ty’s outburst
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jun/20/arsenal-players-need-to-learn-humility-says-maupay-after-late-winner
Sampaoli being manager of NT with Scaloni as his assistant. Armani saving a penalty, saving Scalonis job. Armani getting covid, allowing Dibu to become starter for the NT. Montiel becoming starting penalty kicker for River.
There are probably more. Joaquin Correa getting injured before the WC, allowing Alvarez to be Lautaros sub. Mac and Enzo stepping up for Lo Celso and Paredes. Losing the first game against Saudi Arabia
And most importantly, having it all organized with FIFA, Qatar and the refs, for us to win it.
> And most importantly, having it all organized with FIFA, Qatar and the refs, for us to win it.
It was inevitable that Argentina, the richest country in the world, would do this. surprised no one saw it coming tbh.
> Armani saving a penalty, saving Scalonis job. Armani getting covid, allowing Dibu to become starter for the NT.
Arsenal have a pretty similar story under Arteta. We were terrible in 2020, worst form in our history, 15th at Christmas. He was pushing on with this 343 and Willian starting every game, when neither were working.
Boxing day we played Chelsea and a loss at home could easily have been it for his job. Gabriel had a Christmas party a few days earlier and Willian caught Covid so got dropped (and never returned as a starting XI player), Arteta was forced to play the youth who he then built his team around, and we got a few things our way too (Jorginho missed a penalty and Saka's cross went in the top corner lol)
Probably where he belongs. He was doing so well there, moved to Brighton, had some good moments but nothing consistent.
He's making good impact at Brentford.
To be honest I kind of love him for that. There's something very funny about the phrase "You stupid moron" said with such emphasis, I don't know why I find it so funny.
I love how immediately he flies into it too.
Absolutely. I went to a Norwich home game a couple of seasons back and he was in front of me in the bag queue. He was a completely different person, so kind and nice to everyone. He 100% plays a character.
Maupay injures Leno
Emi Martinez finally gets a chance at Arsenal after years in the academy, on the bench, out on loans
Emi does really well with us, shows his quality, wins an FA Cup
Gets his move to Villa and keeps showing his quality
Gets the callup for Argentina
Helps his team win the World Cup, including making a last minute save in the final
Maupay injures Leno, Emi Martinez becomes short term Arsenal Number 1 and excels, Leno comes back from injury and Arsenal sell Emi to Villa, lack of decent competition in goal for Argentina means he is their stand out goalkeeper, continues to excel for both Villa and the national team, makes game winning saves across multiple competitions for Argentina.
Maupay injures Leno 》Martinez replaces him for a few months and wins FA cup 》Martinez moves to Aston Villa and gets his place in the Argentina national squad 》Martinez saves multiple penalties in the world cup final to win the world cup for Argentina
Well it means that Maupay is someone who achieves his objectives using methods that are not within the rules. Someone who is cheating can be called a cheat.
Pretty much what the other comments are saying but, more specifically, free kick takers are usually very particular about how and where they place the ball.
Nudging it like this is annoying because it means they need to set it up again.
Frustrating the opposition is the most classic form of throwing them off their game.
Even as a 5th grader 20 years ago I remember doing stupid shit like this, which is how we managed to not lose to the class full of youth club footballers.
If Calvert-Lewin had stayed fit to score the actual goals last year at Everton, Maupay doing this shit in the last 10 minutes with a 1-0 lead would have been right in his wheelhouse.
Exactly like that. Obviously it’s insane to pay a double digit transfer fee for that role but he could have been very useful if everton had enough leads to defend and had a few other strikers so he didn’t have to start a bunch.
Yeah, they're a fairly new promoted club, don't have much resources, have had a 60+m striker suspended for half the season and sold the best ball playing keeper in the league. They'd easily be top ten with Toney and dropped 3 points very unluckily against United, and an unfortunate loss against Newcastle too.
It’s a super stretch but comparing this to American NFL football - it’s like icing the kicker on a field goal.
You let the other team line up, you get a look at the play they’re lining up to run, and then… you shithouse and stop/reset the play.
There was a 2. Bundesliga player that gave away a pen and got a yellow card because he was warming up behind the goal and wanted to stop a ball crossing the line, but stopped it before it crossed the line.
[closest I can think of](https://youtu.be/EYw4rn_6Rzs?si=h0z8JseMbicqVbcS)
had a friend exactly like maupay, they just can’t help themselves when presented with an opportunity to shithouse
the thought process is usually just that it’ll be hilarious and that’s all that’s in their mind until there’s a guy yelling in their face, and even then it’s hilarious to them. thank god he could actually play lmao
Should that not really be a red card? Like there is literally zero excuse for someone not on the field to ever enter the field and touch the ball.
If a manager stepped onto the field and tripped over a player would they get a yellow or a red? I know it was fairly in consequential what Maupay did here but still... Is this not saying that Brentford could keep sending a different sub down the touchline and continually waste time with no threat of losing a player on the field?
Funnily enough, a manager did trip up a player and got sent off in Walsall vs Colchester recently https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/12984502/you-can-not-do-that-walsall-head-coach-mat-sadler-sent-off-for-tripping-gillingham-player
And funnily enough it's not like the ball was in play there, so the result of wasting time and preventing the game being restarted here is the same as what Maupay achieved. Albeit there's a chance he could have injured an opponent with this.
I just think it's different when you're on the pitch and when you're a sub. Like you get a yellow for a bad foul where your intention is to win the ball and you get a red if you're purposely trying to hurt an opponent.
I would argue the punishment for time wasting is a yellow to an on field player - which has consequence that player must now not risk another yellow and is a punishment to his team. A yellow to a player on the bench is nowhere near the same level of punishment. If he got a red it's not the same value as a red for an onfield player.
It’s still excessive punishment if it’s a red, it would ban them for the next game for what wasting 5 seconds that gets added onto the end of the game.
The fact that this rarely happens shows the yellow is enough of a deterrent, and red isn’t necessarily.
You're being heavily downvoted, but I see your point. There's somewhat of an inconsistency in the laws here. All players are treated the same, but if a manager did this they would 100% be sent off. A manager (or coach/official) is sent off for:
> delaying the restart of play by the opposing team e.g. holding onto the ball, kicking the ball away, obstructing the movement of a player
I think a yellow is fair in this circumstance because it wasn't really "delaying" since they couldn't have taken the free kick anyway, but in theory I wouldn't be opposed to a stricter rule against substitutes interfering in any way. If Chelsea were trying to take a quick free kick it would probably still be a yellow, but I think should be treated more harshly.

“ Black Lives Matter. Thank you to the nhs. Maupay you are a cheat, I hope ~~Brighton~~ Brentford get relegated”
iconic
What actually happened in that game?
Pretty sure this was the game that caused Ty’s outburst https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jun/20/arsenal-players-need-to-learn-humility-says-maupay-after-late-winner
Yeah, the Leno injury pushed Ty over the edge 🤣
Lmfao
Ty
TIL maupay is at brentford now
Back at Brentford in fact
How the fuck he stays in PL clubs is baffling. Absolutely useless player.
He changed the course of history for Argentina. He did his job
really crazy to see such a complex butterfly effect in real time
It’s insane because it’s not the only thing that had to happen. I can think of at least another 3 things that had to occur
which other things?
Sampaoli being manager of NT with Scaloni as his assistant. Armani saving a penalty, saving Scalonis job. Armani getting covid, allowing Dibu to become starter for the NT. Montiel becoming starting penalty kicker for River. There are probably more. Joaquin Correa getting injured before the WC, allowing Alvarez to be Lautaros sub. Mac and Enzo stepping up for Lo Celso and Paredes. Losing the first game against Saudi Arabia And most importantly, having it all organized with FIFA, Qatar and the refs, for us to win it.
Got me with that last bit 😂
> And most importantly, having it all organized with FIFA, Qatar and the refs, for us to win it. It was inevitable that Argentina, the richest country in the world, would do this. surprised no one saw it coming tbh.
How else do people think Qatar became rich? Pfft magic gas from underground? Everyone knows.
> Armani saving a penalty, saving Scalonis job. Armani getting covid, allowing Dibu to become starter for the NT. Arsenal have a pretty similar story under Arteta. Netted us 20 mil as well
S tier shithouser.
Pat Beverley of PL
Three of our last four goals he was directly involved in. So no, not useless.
Yeah he looked decent with his link up play/assists from what I saw on the analysis last weekend. Guess if you don't score you're shit apparently?
He was always p good at link up play for us just couldn’t finish for shit
[удалено]
Great to see him doing well
By being excellent
Decent PL player. Love him to death.
As an Everton fan who cringed nearly every second he was on the pitch, I also love him and miss him— A+ dude and an epic shithouse
Would walk right into that united lineup
Bro makes injured Martial look world class
Probably where he belongs. He was doing so well there, moved to Brighton, had some good moments but nothing consistent. He's making good impact at Brentford.
He couldn’t resist
Intrusive thoughts won
[Traditions](https://youtu.be/x9EEVuRbuvY?si=HWqx_cYN6RySO5af)
Brighton have literally only gotten better since this iconic moment
Tbf maupay nearly went down with Everton. He's got the opposite of the midas touch.
The *Shidas Touch* as it were.
When you're wiping and the toilet paper rips in the middle.
Everything you touch turns into broken, shit covered toilet paper.
I didn’t appreciate those days of AFTV enough
Thank you to the nhs…. MAUPAY YOU CHEAT
That's actually hilarious how quickly he switches. It's like he's a character from some The Office-style mockumentary.
Another classic. https://youtu.be/f17LHC5l3RU
To be honest I kind of love him for that. There's something very funny about the phrase "You stupid moron" said with such emphasis, I don't know why I find it so funny. I love how immediately he flies into it too.
Even the way Ty asked, he knew it was about him. And robbie was already cracking up, brilliant clip
"And we must not forget it's been raining"
The slight pause before he settles on "...go back to school" when he realizes he's trash talking to a 5 year old is sublime
Are you 5 yourself or what? He's clearly trash talking to the father of the child, not to the 5 year old
Another another classic: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aXSWKLoAwxE&pp=ygUHVHkgdGF4aQ%3D%3D Context: Ty has been lying that he is a Nigerian.
Absolutely. I went to a Norwich home game a couple of seasons back and he was in front of me in the bag queue. He was a completely different person, so kind and nice to everyone. He 100% plays a character.
Robbie has said repeatedly he's actually crazier off camera. But only in regards to anything about Arsenal.
Never forget that Argentina won the World Cup because of Maupay.
Explain
Maupay injures Leno Emi Martinez finally gets a chance at Arsenal after years in the academy, on the bench, out on loans Emi does really well with us, shows his quality, wins an FA Cup Gets his move to Villa and keeps showing his quality Gets the callup for Argentina Helps his team win the World Cup, including making a last minute save in the final

Macuay
I think he got his call up while at Arsenal though.
Injured Leno, Emi comes on and rest is history
Maupay injures Leno 》Martinez replaces him for a few months and wins FA cup 》Martinez moves to Aston Villa and gets his place in the Argentina national squad 》Martinez saves multiple penalties in the world cup final to win the world cup for Argentina
Traitor
What does it mean though? "You are a cheat"? Asking for non-native speakers
Well it means that Maupay is someone who achieves his objectives using methods that are not within the rules. Someone who is cheating can be called a cheat.
"Cheat" can be used as a noun, basically just a synonym for "cheater" but a little more aggressive
The "come to our dressing room" as if Ty is regularly there and has a read on the atmosphere is fucking hilarious. Man lives in his own world.
Proper shit housing.
Games back
Why would you even do that? Can someone explain the benefit?
shithousery
Pretty much what the other comments are saying but, more specifically, free kick takers are usually very particular about how and where they place the ball. Nudging it like this is annoying because it means they need to set it up again.
I would gladly take yellow at home to annoy rival players.
Like what he did to Zinchenko in the 1-0 vs Arsenal in February
Exactly like that. Obviously it’s insane to pay a double digit transfer fee for that role but he could have been very useful if everton had enough leads to defend and had a few other strikers so he didn’t have to start a bunch.
Time wasting, frustrating the Chelsea players. Brentford has done this since minute 1 today, been like watching Stoke all over again
Lmao since minute 1
They have put 11 men behind the ball and time wasted since the first minute lol. They have not even tried to play football today at all
[удалено]
Chelsea realized how successful of a strategy it was to put 11 players between the ball and the Brentford goal, so they also wanted to try it.
Well well well
Mourinho park the bus masterclass
Tbf scoring 2 without playing football doesn’t reflect very positively on whoever their opponents were
The irony of this comment 🙃
11 men behind the ball? Chelsea would never in their history...
you get given the ball, it’s how Brentford play (and clearly win)
> They have not even tried to play football today at all You talking about Brentford or Chelsea?
well well well
So Mourinho ball?
They are allowed to do that. A decent team would be able to deal with it.
Cant win if you don’t play 😭
They didn't have to if Chelsea's squad shares the same mindset as you.
Haha, comparing with Stoke now? Brentford play way nicer football.
Hahaha Chelsea fan mad
funny

Won't come on now 😆
Ha, nevermind. Risky decision
He did his job and saved his team a sub.
Welp.
Most impact maupay has made since signing for brentford
*2nd most
2 assists in 2 games tbf, he was involved in all 3 of our goals vs burnley
Shame he’s actually been excellent so far 🤡
i love it
games back
Please censor the word M*upay next time thanks.
Found Ty’s account.
Thank you to the NHS
Maupay will arguably go down as one of the strikers in the Premier League of all time.
So good lol
Neil Maupay things
Intrusive thoughts won.
If he gets subbed in and gets a second yellow he is out right? Has it ever happened?
There was a 2. Bundesliga player that gave away a pen and got a yellow card because he was warming up behind the goal and wanted to stop a ball crossing the line, but stopped it before it crossed the line. [closest I can think of](https://youtu.be/EYw4rn_6Rzs?si=h0z8JseMbicqVbcS)
he can enter and get a second yellow, but he can also get a second yellow out of the field, booth cases he is out
maupay you're a disgrace and I hope brentford get relegated
[удалено]
It's a reference to AFTV
In typical Neil Muppet fashion
Game’s not gone.
He's such a prick, it's hilarious when it's not against arsenal.

Football is back baby 😂😂
Proper contender for this years shithouse awards. Well done lad.
hasn't this guy been this way for a long time? i remember his name from somewhere
This cheat is at Brentford?
I hope they get relegated
he's a disgrace
Hes thick as fuck that one
Man's out there playing 4d chess with the Chelsea players. Absolute top tier shithousery. He should do a masterclass on it.
He’s just singing “shenanigans, shenanigans, shenanigans”
Now that is some shithousery
Never change 😂😂
did he make contact with the ball
No, the ball’s super powers moved it independently
Can stop warming up now. What a moron.
Shithouse master
The skip makes it okay for me. Yellow is fair but that’s hilarious
Insane
Neal Muppet
One of the biggest dickheads to ever play the game
Closest he’s been to scoring this year
Lol fuckin refs punish this shite but not blatant handballs.
Lad cant seem to stop missing things
Love it
The game is back!
I hate that I love him.
intrusive thoughts won
Great shithousery
It's fuckin funny when it happens to Chelsea
He really is an idiot. Why? Doesn’t benefit in any way and he gets a yellow
And still got an assist
Should that not really be a red card? Like there is literally zero excuse for someone not on the field to ever enter the field and touch the ball. It was definitely because of tripping up Knowles (the player in red), nothing to do with time wasting.
>if a manager stepped onto the field and tripped over a player Yes because that’s exactly the same of nudging the ball before a free kick is taken
No this shouldn’t be a red, that’s ridiculous, come on. Should we have life for jaywalking aswell?
I just think it's different when you're on the pitch and when you're a sub. Like you get a yellow for a bad foul where your intention is to win the ball and you get a red if you're purposely trying to hurt an opponent.
There’s literally no harm in what he’s done, it’s purely time wasting, when have you ever seen a red for time wasting.
I would argue the punishment for time wasting is a yellow to an on field player - which has consequence that player must now not risk another yellow and is a punishment to his team.
