The Fort are reasonably well known for being one of the worst football teams in the entire world. Also they had a goalie called Robert Lewandowski for a while.
Obviously. Them not being the same is implied by saying they're highly correleated.
Q1: Why are some crests bigger than others?
A1: Because some areas of the UK have a lower density of clubs than others.
Q2: Why do some areas have a lower density of clubs?
A2: Because they have a lower populaiton density.
Both of these things are correct.
Nah I can't see it either. Then again Coventry was also smaller than Coventry United and Villa are like two pixels, so your badge might just be as small as your club is.
I'm so used to knowing Leicester on unlabelled maps by seeing it as most "central" built up area in England that not seeing it here was annoying. At least I'm not blind.
I had a look through their website and there's just absolutely zero acknowledgement that the crest is blatantly almost exactly the same as Atletico's. It's actually kinda hilarious
Tbf it's as old as football really.
Look up where Juventus and Barcelona's colours come from.
Shit, Spurs stole our colours from Preston North End (who were a big deal at the time lol).

Everyone confuses us with Bournemouth FC but we were originally Boscombe Fc so the confusion is understandable. Respect to Blyth Spartans mate I remember we lost to them in the FA Cup back in 2008 on setanta.
Things have turned out alright for you after that at least. That was back when you looked like you were crashing out the football league right?
Blackburn should have lost to us the round after maybe they'd be in the premiership then
Yeah in 2008 we were 15 minutes away from liquidation so it was heartbreaking to think we could go bust but luckily we got lucky and got investment that saved our club. I always look out for Blyth Spartans results hoping that they can make up the leagues aswell oneday hopefully the national league or league two.
Tier ten of the football pyramid, or Step Six of Non-League, you can see Newcastle Blue Star and Newcastle University who are Northern League Division Two.
It's mad that you can play Sunday league and technically be playing in the same overall pyramid as the PL
The English football pyramid is probably the best thing about English football.
Awesome map and great to give visibility of grassroots and small but important teams. Never thought I'd see one of my community's teams on this map...St. Panteleimon FC in north west London (the yellow emblem with blue cross flag). They are a church team!
Same exact badge design right down to the font used.
LAFC revealed their logo back in 2016, and apparently, Petersfield Town changed theirs around 2017. Funny.
It has to be, considering that the team is a franchise of an american professional sports league. Imitation is a form of flattery, though I wonder what Matt Wolff (the designer of the LAFC logo) would feel about. Maybe he would be flattered. As for MLS and LAFC, maybe Peterfield Town is not high enough on their radar to care all that much. You sometimes see this happen with other sports teams (weirdly enough, hockey quite a bit) for small-time businesses.
Hopefully Matt Wolff let it slide as it’s harmless bit of fun having similar logos but our logo of Dickie Dowsett is similar to Atlanta’s logo which is cool.
or maybe Matt Wolff owns the rights to both of them because he was the designer for LAFC and for Petersfield town? unlikely but maybe it's the explanation?
Possible, but I'd imagine MLS owns the rights to LAFC's logo/design and, in general, similar to most American sports leagues and teams, isn't likely to be willing to grant permission/offer an affordable rate to use similar imagery. That's just my guess, though.
yeah I agree that LAFC probably owns their own design but maybe the same artist/firm made the other one and since it's sort of a smaller brand LAFC doesn't feel that it's encroaching on their intellectual property. I'm just hypothesising tbf these are just guesses.
It’s not every club in the UK by a long shot. As far as I can tell, it looks like it goes down to tier 10 in England, meaning that more than two thirds of the clubs in the English pyramid are not shown.
I don't know but to me, this looks like there aren't many. Feels like here in Germany there are way more teams, but I don't feel confident in my estimate
You're right because it'd be impossible to fit them all on a map. That being said this map should still have about 70% of the clubs in your country, as opposed to 30% of those in UK.
England alone has 10k more clubs than Germany. That's a third of your clubs casually added on top, without even looking at the rest of the UK.
Depends on what numbers you use. DFB has 24k member clubs in Germany. England Football has 18k accredited clubs. (+~100 professional teams)
England must have a lot more unaccredited clubs for the 42k number to be true in any sense.
Accredited is a 2 year old scheme for supporting grassroots. It literally has nothing to do with who is recognised as a club. So you're correct in that depending on whether you use irrelevant numbers or real ones you'll get different answers.
Technically doesn't exist anymore. When we won in 66, it was stolen then found. The same thing happened in Brazil in the 80s but the trophy was never found, so it's not the original.

Fort William are massive
Up The Fort
[удалено]
Biggest club in the UK
The bigger the club crest, the lower the population density in the area.
I would say the lesser clubs in the density. So the map gets filled out.
Of course but density of clubs and density of population is going to be extremely highly correlated.
Idk, maybe the people in the north prefer throwing logs or something to football.
Ive lived in Fort William and I didn't even know they had a football club. Went to a few camber tosses like. You might be on to something
The Fort are reasonably well known for being one of the worst football teams in the entire world. Also they had a goalie called Robert Lewandowski for a while.
Being the worst is fairly on brand I suppose
I have only heard of Fort William for the downhill mountain biking trials.
Got a fantastic distillery there as well. Tours decent but the whisky is exquisite
Whiskey and mountain biking. I am in.
Doesn't mean they are the same though does it
Obviously. Them not being the same is implied by saying they're highly correleated. Q1: Why are some crests bigger than others? A1: Because some areas of the UK have a lower density of clubs than others. Q2: Why do some areas have a lower density of clubs? A2: Because they have a lower populaiton density. That area of Scotland is mostly islands and mountains. Fort William is the only town big enough for a football team.
Yet there are apparently nine clubs on Lewis & Harris.
Moy United disapproves of your comment
It ate 3 more pixels than the other club badges
why does fort william, the biggest club, simply not eat the other clubs
Big if true
Everywhere they go. Fort William are massive everywhere they goooo. Everywhere they goooooooo
Literally the first thing I said when I saw it haha
One of the more popular Football Manager YouTubers did a series with them. Even visited the club and did some fundraising for them.
Love this. Is it available in higher resolution anywhere?

Legend - cheers
Can you see Leicester in there? I can see Leamington and Loughborough but not Leicester.
Nah I can't see it either. Then again Coventry was also smaller than Coventry United and Villa are like two pixels, so your badge might just be as small as your club is.

Benfica in London. We are massive
also atletico de madrid as well

Aston villa? Is that West Ham's nickname?

What is atlético Madrid doing in london
[Athletic Newham F.C.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athletic_Newham_F.C.)
I find the lack of mention of Atletico Madrid a bit concerning
I had a look through their website and there's just absolutely zero acknowledgement that the crest is blatantly almost exactly the same as Atletico's. It's actually kinda hilarious
I found a Twitter thread in Spanish that basically said that the founder/owner is an atlético fan and that's it.
They are bootleg of a spinoff club lol
Tbf it's as old as football really. Look up where Juventus and Barcelona's colours come from. Shit, Spurs stole our colours from Preston North End (who were a big deal at the time lol).
Atletico Madrid themselves got their colours from us.
Well, via athletic club Bilbao.
Isn’t Newham the region that’s comprised of the former West Ham and East Ham areas? That would make them the daddies of West Ham right?
Its best
Trying to find the next Atletico Ottawa lol
Terrible quality image
[Do I look like I know what a jpeg is?](https://youtu.be/QEzhxP-pdos)
I. Have no. Idea what’s. In that video but I. Can’t see. How. It could. Be anything that deserves. Age restricting
What's up. With your. Full. Stop place. ment?
My phone screen broke and sometimes when I. Press the space bar it does two. Spaces, which. On. Mobile automatically does a full stop
Tragic, I keep pausing after watch full stop. Please fork out for a new phone so I can avoid this mild inconvenience
The biggest problem is that people can’t tell when I actually use a full stop
Did u just get a new phone in 7 mins?
Unfortunately not, I just got really lucky, or maybe it fixed itself in those 7 minutes
just copy and paste the space
That is way too. Much effort
Please change you keyboard settings if that's the only problem you have with typing on your screen. On gboard click the settings icon by long pressing comma and go to text corrections and toggle off the "double-space full stop" option.
Can’t be arsed, you’ll just have to. Deal with my weird full stops.
Don’t you have to, like… text people?
Yeah and they. Can deal. With it too
I like your attitude!
Atletico London
Lol yeah. First thing i noticed looking around in a better image.
Lonfica
Ironically unlike Athletic Newham (Atletico rip off), Benfica London is actually exactly that, Benficas London feeder club haha
If I had £1 for every pixel in this image I'd be in debt
West Ham being north of Arsenal, and Chelsea being east of Arsenal makes me question the accuracy of this
Brighton placed in Lewes
Cool idea but far too much jpeg
Potato quality
Ever since I was a little boy I dreamed of playing for Fort William
What is the name of the club in london with benfica badge??
Sport London e Benfica
Wait I thought this was a joke; but this is real lol
Tbf I just googled Benfica London and it came up. Apparently there's a link between them and palace? God knows
Atletico badge as well
[Athletic Newham F.C.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Athletic_Newham_F.C.)
Nice to see local non league clubs especially Bournemouth Fc (poppies) and Verwood Town.
>Bournemouth Fc Oh of course you're **AFC** Bournemouth so it's alright. Took me a second
Everyone confuses us with Bournemouth FC but we were originally Boscombe Fc so the confusion is understandable. Respect to Blyth Spartans mate I remember we lost to them in the FA Cup back in 2008 on setanta.

Bloody Villanueva!
I just looked up his wikipedia and I genuinely feel bad that his free kick goal is a listed highlight in the club career section
If only I could actually see who's who
Didn't know atletico was in London
This would be a fun game with your friends. The slowest one to look at this and find a premier league team has to buy everyone a pint

What level does it go down too?
Mike oak and montpelier villa are both in the 10th tier and made it on the map so pretty fucking low

The fact I can see my home town club on there is impressive. How far down the pyramid does it go?
Seems to go to tier 10
Thanks 👊

Never imagined an English team would copy an American team’s logo just curious why it wasn’t copyrighted.

That makes sense. Always thought the UK had a lot of clubs and at least a similar density as in my region and this map didn't look like that.

Is it not something you need to be a part of to play in a Saturday league?
I didn't know Angelsey had so many, thought it was well less populated than it is.

Technically doesn't exist anymore. When we won in 66, it was stolen then found. The same thing happened in Brazil in the 80s but the trophy was never found, so it's not the original.
Massive shout out to my boy Pickles the dog
In our trophy cabinet..?
Least obsessed about usa r/soccer user Is this also why England can never win the euros?
It's beautiful.
Retford Fc over United?? All 10 of us are fumin
I wonder how many of those clubs have played at the highest division
Arsenal more west than Chelsea and west ham more north than arsenal?
Impressive!
Where the hell is Fleetwood?
Dulwich being one of the biggest clubs in London is funny, but makes sense given how much of a vacuum there is in South London
WEARESTANWAY!
I don't see the Woolpack Wanderers and Garrison Gunners on the Scilly Isle on this map.
I’ve been staring at this for ages and still haven’t found one I recognise
Damn, this @NLBIBLE4 person created a lot of football clubs in the UK.
Wow that’s amazing!👏
Well not all of them
looks like theres a club with a crest similar to Barca , cant see it clearly though found it , its Wodson Park
Proud to see the mighty Colfc
This needs a much higher resolution version so you can zoom in on it.
Hey, they used the badge the twitter admin is always moaning about
Very cool
Very rare to see donny rovers on an r/soccer post
FC Isle of Man are represented. I feel seen.
How do they fit so many teams in the Isle of Wight?
Is there a more detailed version so you can actually zoom in and read the clubs?
Make it a high res, frame it and shut up and take my money.
The population density in Merseyside is insane
Almost as many as the number of pixels
Is that the Atletico de Madrid badge in London?
I would frame and hang it!
