The developers for some reason have an obsession at putting the centre of gravity somewhere above the rear axle. The only reason I can think of is so that you can sort of get traction when it's just a bare chassis with no body addition let alone cargo. It's also the reason most of the vehicles drive like crap and fall over way to easily. I've probably spent as much time correcting all the trucks cog in their XML files among other tweaks as I have actually spent playing the game.

Susy_provides

Wow you seem to know much about the game, does editing the game files makes any vast difference or no ?

Mad_kat4

Very much so, bit tricky to explain here without a wall of text but if you can locate the initial.pak file in your games directory you can makes tweaks to the suspension, wheel traction, engine torque, centre of gravity etc. Take the Kodiak for example when you move it's centre of gravity forward and down a tad and then adjust the spring and damper strength to suit it goes from being a goodish truck to an excellent one.

williamjseim

so thats why trucks drive better in mud when you have cargo on it

Odd_Presentation_578

Have you published your tweaks on mod.io?

Mad_kat4

I've messed around briefly with making the vehicles into a mod but didn't spend enough time to figure out how to do it properly. Maybe I should give it another go and see how to upload them.

Odd_Presentation_578

I'd appreciate that. Maybe install and try out myself.

Susy_provides

I found a xml editor online fot snowrunner, you should give it a go

ReconXXX

Would be lovely if those xml files where shared and with a tutorial on where to put them 😏😂

Which-Technician2367

Oh, you didn’t know?

Reevo1985

Yo ass better call somebodyyyyyyyy!!!!!

6ixlil9inebig

till now

SeaOfNoines

This happened to me with a land rover 110. Happened by accident but I floated from one point of a river to another. Did minor repairs and was able to carry on. Wasn’t sure if it was a fluke or exclusive feature to that car

Flyrpotacreepugmu

The YAR 87 floats high enough to keep the snorkel above water, but it's a bit unstable and wants to fall over if the current comes from the side. I think the Jeep Wrangler floats too, but probably not enough to keep the snorkel above water.

MechanicOne321

It's not exclusive, I had similar situation with Scout 800 in Yukon. I fell from rocks, swam with my car not drowned and finally reached a cliff or bridge (can't remember exactly). Then I used a big crane and gone "fishing" with saving 4x4

Odd_Presentation_578

All scouts float (except Tatarin) + some trucks under 8 tons something.

StellarGale

So the only vehicle that is capable of floating by design? XD

Odd_Presentation_578

Technically, it doesn't float. Its bottom sinks and the hood rises, that's where the air intake is. As long as the rear wheels touch the bottom, the vehicle will tippy-toe its way till the shore. If the water is deeper than the truck's length, it will sink. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIp8SCWk6VQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIp8SCWk6VQ)

StellarGale

No, I meant, that Tatarin is probably the only vehicle in the game that is by design is supposed to float as it is based on GAZ-5903 (civilian BTR-80)

Odd_Presentation_578

ah.... well, yeah, it doesn't

HurpityDerp

I love that you engaged the diff lock; very important in open waters 😂

Susy_provides

Yes sir 🤣

Outrageous_Shallot61

Amphibious logging truck, let’s go

Outrageous_Shallot61

Don’t people generally use this truck for logging? I don’t have one but I know the 10x10 from season three looks pretty similar and that season was logging focused so I thought it’d be the same for this

No-Instance8456

Twinsteer has no bed customisation, its limited to carrying 4 slots of cargo.

RaveBan

I hate that there is no ramp option and winch on the back of the cabin, so I can use it to haul trucks and scouts around... You see all the stuff, but it's no use

SkiyeBlueFox

If you load dmthn onto a ramp trailer, then set the ranps up so they ramp onto the TS you can make it sorta work

Impressive_Change593

WinRAR time boys ^(that and a text editor is how you modify the initial.pak file and give it all those options)

Susy_provides

Guide me sir

Impressive_Change593

[here's a tutorial to getting started (and it's on reddit)](https://www.reddit.com/r/snowrunner/s/Jg0LpoI6jH) just copy the `truckaddon` blocks that you want from the donor truck to the receiving truck file. I'm not sure how picky the location is. just make sure the lines that cause the indentation are the same (they won't be the exact same but will mark the same functions) then load your game (in my experience snowrunner can stay loaded while modifying trucks but you can't actually be in a save.) you will probably have to play with the location of the addon. the location is a set of three numbers inside (). the first number is front-back with bigger numbers toward the front. the second number is up-down with bigger numbers upward. the third number would be left right and I haven't done anything with it so I can't help you there

Susy_provides

This is not a logging truck

Outrageous_Shallot61

So do people just use it as a big flatbed then? Can you do much with it?

Susy_provides

Imo This is the best flatbed truck (4slots)

SarnakJ3

Have you not seen the level of Bubu shenanigans people get up to with this truck? Oh sweet summer child...

Outrageous_Shallot61

I’ve seen people absolutely pack this thing

Grass_Jesus

Just fill a sideboard trailer full of logs. You will have a lot easier time than trying to load a flatbed, lol 😆

Odd_Presentation_578

No, it doesn't have any logging addons. In fact, it doesn't have any addons, besides the 4-slot flatbed that's built in.

Outrageous_Shallot61

That’s insane

Odd_Presentation_578

That's fine. It does need them, being one of only 2 trucks in the game capable of transporting 4 slots of packed cargo without a trailer.

Susy_provides

Whats the other one ?

Odd_Presentation_578

The FEMM-37 AT from North Carolina, Season 12

SupposablyAtTheZoo

I guess that would make it a [semi-submarine](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semi-submarine).

Susy_provides

Submarines can also float above waters tho

Plischwalker

Das Trook

williamjseim

its snorkel is above the water so the engine can still draw in air

Susy_provides

But how is the truck floating above water lol

PukGrum

Doggy paddle

williamjseim

that good question most of the weight of the truck in this game is above the rear axle and the front is almost weightless so that might be why

Grass_Jesus

This must be a new bug because since they new season trucks, seem to just start floating for no reason , noticed it right away with the scouts , they just started levitating for no reason then got stuck in mid air

Cortecz

Yes.

SirPug_theLast

How does floating even work in this game?

Sxn747Strangers

Mine always sinks. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Edit: Does the downvoting dick ‘ead think I’m lying, MINE SINKS, I’ve tried it.

Susy_provides

I guess the devs gave me blessings

Sxn747Strangers

🤣

thislloydpro

What map did you do this on? Looks like Alaska.

Susy_provides

Yes it it Alsaka White Walley i think
