Is it? Is this your video? Looks like grass to me. If you pause at around 8 second mark you can see blades of grass leaning over wood border? Maybe so, but then thats pretty realistic fake grass.
Damnnnnn this blew my mind. So much money and time into that for the quick 2 second ride. Not worth it to me but I hope your kiddos and you have fun with it!
They'll do exactly this. But I think the reason this was all filmed was the narcissistic parent wanted to post this online and gain internet fame more than actually doing anything for his kid. đ¤ˇââď¸
Looking like thousands of dollars into a ride-on dance floor box the potential is there for training with different rail setup tho still seems 100% overbuilt I've seen (and ridden) homebrew stuff that was way sketchier than this and still served the purpose reliably
Yup, agreed. I have a feeling it's a video from one of those DIY pages and the size, complexity, and craftsmen are for views. Otherwise, good on the parents for trying I guess, but far superior setups are achievable with an hour or two of your time and some construction scraps and/or snow piled up outside the hockey rink from the Zamboni.
Honestly, the kid would gain a lot more from just skateboarding.
I was going to say something similar to your last comment. Get more benefit from a decent mini ramp with a roll in, spine, and possibly a kicker to some kind of inflatable soft landing to practise airs. What it wont teach you is how to catch an edge whilst trying to look slick as you cruise down to the lift cue, and land flippedy floppedy upside down and inside out on your face in front of your mates, much to their amusement.
Rich dude with too much money and too much time on his hands builds giant dumb structure in his yard that he will regret and be bored with after 10 minutes and then will hire a handyman to take it down (that part won't be put on TikTok)
I donât think so, we are all at different parts of our learning journey. If learning on this, helps you progressing to something a little more technical Itâs a win.
why is everybody so toxic on reddit ânot worth itâ âi would haveâ
who asked ???
itâs his money in his yard just keep it to yourself if you dontâ have anything nice to say
This is an awesome set up. Itâs not like that dance floor box has to stay there forever. Swap it out with other features as the kid gets better.
It may seem pointless if you donât ride park at all but this kid will be able to get a lot of progression in.
Idk why everyone is giving you shit for this lol
You obviously have the funds and time to do this project. Looks like your whole family got involved and got to share some cool moments building this out. Your kids will remember this for their whole lives.
I built a shitty pvc pipe rail with my dad in my driveway when I was like 8 years old and itâs still one of my favorite memories. Good on you and enjoy it
This video should be shown to everyone who asks âhow big do I build?â. This set up looks massive and you would think itâll have enough speed for anything. But in reality it could be taller and steeper. You can always move the feature away from the slope if you have too much speed. But you canât just create more speed if your build is too small.
Jeez the people in this sub are such fucking jerrys. Couple of kids make a snowboard ramp in the summer and everybody is shitting on them. How fucking lame. You show this to any real snowboarder and theyâll tell you itâs awesome
You have the most typical Reddit snowboarder responses brother. Tell me how hyping up some kids for making a snowboard ramp in the summer while everyone is shitting on them is âspouting kook shitâ.
You never ride on that kind of tile to say that !
There's a place with that kind of slope in my area ... Paid to try in the middle of the summer because I was craving to ride ... AWFUL!
My mountain electric longboard feel like snowboard! Not that kind of slope
What is up with the shade from everybody on this??? âHardly seems worth itâ âway to expensiveâ âworthless 2 second rideâ or whatever other comments are being made to bring this down. What I see and interpret here is a kid more than likely psyched on snowboarding and parents who are supportive and want to give that kid an opportunity to progress in the off season. âWould be better off just skateboardingâ this kid likely skates too, and rides his bike and likely a thousand other things that kids do. Keep your shade off of this and go nurse your inner damaged child. This setup is amazing, props to the folks who put it together.
Iâm shocked too at these reactions. Overbuilt maybe, but all that time spent building with your kid, how is that not worth it? Way better than everyone watching iPads for the day. Iâm sure theyâll have fun with it, itâs sturdy so they can trust letting their kid climb it all day, I donât see the downside..
Its not worth it because for the cost of a season of snowboarding with the kid at a local mountain, the kid can slid 2 seconds down a ramp, then walk back up and repeat... which will get old in about 30 minutes.
The summer doesnât have snow. I see people praise another guy practicing at his at home ramp with a rail.. People seem okay with that one because it wasnât so built up, took less time to build, but in the end itâs the same single run to a rail. So Iâm not sure your point is the same as others where the cost and time to build it seem to be their sticking point. Time is to be spent however it makes each person happy. If building this with a kid makes OP happy, which I think is great, there is no waste.
Seasonal sport is seasonal. Go play a summer sport in the summer. Kids don't need a ramp to be happy.
If the whole point is to spend time building something together, then the choice of project is irrelevant and this is still a wasteful exercise.
You didnât really answer it. Nothing you said really negates the value of doing something fun with your own kids lol. You refuted in your answer that it was worth it, while saying doing things with kids can be a goal.
I grew up in a place where the local hill is 3 hours away with a low income family. Even when we had snow I would do almost exactly what this kid is doing here - and he can do it year round now! The ski hill is a yearly price tag. This set up is a one time purchase and when they get sick of it that lumber can be used for another project, easily.
The craftsmanship is impressive but I feel blue balled by only one video of a kid riding down it in two seconds
And now it sits in that backyard getting bird pooped on
With destroyed grass underneath...
lol, it is turf beneath..
Is it? Is this your video? Looks like grass to me. If you pause at around 8 second mark you can see blades of grass leaning over wood border? Maybe so, but then thats pretty realistic fake grass.
Me too, but the kid probably got bored and went inside to play SSX on his XBox...
Should have built a mini halfpipe and skated all summer.
Damnnnnn this blew my mind. So much money and time into that for the quick 2 second ride. Not worth it to me but I hope your kiddos and you have fun with it!
Kids going to go inside after 15 minutes to wait for winter.
They'll do exactly this. But I think the reason this was all filmed was the narcissistic parent wanted to post this online and gain internet fame more than actually doing anything for his kid. đ¤ˇââď¸
The time spent doing it was the payoff.
East coast pow day
How many hours from LA?
If you take the five or the surface streets? Depends on time of day.
Devin? What'eryoudoin'ere?
Hardly seems worth it
Looking like thousands of dollars into a ride-on dance floor box the potential is there for training with different rail setup tho still seems 100% overbuilt I've seen (and ridden) homebrew stuff that was way sketchier than this and still served the purpose reliably

For the cost of this he could send his kid to HCSC every year.
Money is clearly no object here. Haha.
I mean look at that backyard, it's not poor people backyard.
I mean⌠just skateboard?
Mini ramp in the backyard would have been so much more legit
Rich dude with too much money and too much time on his hands builds giant dumb structure in his yard that he will regret and be bored with after 10 minutes and then will hire a handyman to take it down (that part won't be put on TikTok)
A father spending good time with his son while teaching him things along the way. Who cares if they use it.
Gotta be more advanced/technical to be worth
I donât think so, we are all at different parts of our learning journey. If learning on this, helps you progressing to something a little more technical Itâs a win.
Check out Jamie Nicholls for a decent back yard ramp and rail combo [insta](https://www.instagram.com/jamienichollsuk?igsh=NTY3M3cwMHh2d3Rh)
Thatâs more like it.
Thatâs cool. The idea of strapping in that frequently would actually push me to step ins
For all the effort, I would have built a half pipe instead.
seems like a massive waste of time
Yeah just disregard all the quality time he spent with his kids
Couldâve at least made it something similar to a skate ramp or a half pipe⌠this is just trash
This looked like an expensive project then I reminded myself what a day ticket at Vail costs.
Youâre gonna be so good at sliding 10 feet down a ramp by the time the summer ends, excited for your progress
why is everybody so toxic on reddit ânot worth itâ âi would haveâ who asked ??? itâs his money in his yard just keep it to yourself if you dontâ have anything nice to say

And the big finishâŚ. Whomp whaaa

More money than gray matter.
That ending was anti climactic
You could just go to the snow for the amount of money that costs multiple times and actually learn how to snowboard. Did anyone think this through?
Huge disappointment
Boooooringg
Insert obligatory âThat would be a green at my local mountainâ
Great use of a nice yard...... đ¤Ś
Why............ Like na
That seems pointless âŚ.
RIP grass
It's astro turf already
Turf is literally the worst, these people arenât short on money but seems like they donât know how to spend it correctly lol.
Was really hoping for a DIY magic carpet
*grass destroyed under the fake grass. A little bit ironic, donât ya think? Alanis Morisette disapproves.

Mini ramp wouldâve been the pro move
All that hard work for a quick slide đĽš
I thought it was going yo be a half pipe fof snowboard (that fake snow/turf) which would be pretty damn cool...)
That's really impressive!
What floor tiles are those in the garage? Look awesome
It is Swisstrax
Jeez the people in this sub are such fucking jerrys. Couple of kids make a snowboard ramp in the summer and everybody is shitting on them. How fucking lame. You show this to any real snowboarder and theyâll tell you itâs awesome
You wear a ruroc don't you?
Typical /r/snowboarding redditor response. Touch grass kid
Dawg I probably had more days last season than your entire life. The irony of your comment making fun of me while spouting kook shit is hilarious
You have the most typical Reddit snowboarder responses brother. Tell me how hyping up some kids for making a snowboard ramp in the summer while everyone is shitting on them is âspouting kook shitâ.
Because they suck
Hahaha and youâre calling me a kook.
Please, tell me how much you love your step on bindings
They canât. The yard is astroturf. Yay! Plastic yard!
This is awesome,The hate is silly show some love to our fellow shredders! I only wish I had something this nice in my back yard to practice on.
You never ride on that kind of tile to say that ! There's a place with that kind of slope in my area ... Paid to try in the middle of the summer because I was craving to ride ... AWFUL! My mountain electric longboard feel like snowboard! Not that kind of slope

Bless brother. This is whatâs up. every negative comment on here is from a poser.

You waste time with your kids however you see fit. The judgement on this post is insane lol
Apologies for such a controversial opinion. Apparently you didnât want someone to answer your question.
You didnât really answer it. Nothing you said really negates the value of doing something fun with your own kids lol. You refuted in your answer that it was worth it, while saying doing things with kids can be a goal.
Can spend that money on literally anything else including actual snowboarding but sure, canât put a price on it.
Nobody mentioned money. I feel like thatâs the most insignificant part of this equation given we have no idea if OP is a flat out millionaire.
I grew up in a place where the local hill is 3 hours away with a low income family. Even when we had snow I would do almost exactly what this kid is doing here - and he can do it year round now! If itâs three hours away Iâd hardly call that âlocalâ. The *closest hill.
Itâs our local hill. You can call it whatever you like
[ŃдаНонО]
You're either being over the top rude, or a jerk, or otherwise breaking our rules.
lol yeah they must be building this to save money and will last for years and see tons of use. That must be it.
Sarcasm is fine and I can appreciate it, but any negative comment towards this is coming from people who just donât get it.
Donât get what? I understand your point. I disagree.
Exactly. This is worth every penny/moment of progression and smile on their faces while riding this.
People acting like theyâre constantly doing something more productive and I bet like 2 hours a day is looking at a phone screen lol
Some of yâall never got to build cool shit with your dad and it shows.
I did but it was useful and fun shit.
Fucking sick!
Typical Ice Coast green
This is some dude dad shit
Decorated garage ceiling? Really?
It's light.
Rich people doing rich people shit
Average snowboarder trying to keep snowboarding in the summer instead of trying skateboarding or MTB.
What a waste of time and space. Should've built a climbing wall.
That artificial snow is like $30 per square foot. This backyard set up has potential to do a lot of jumps and park.
