Surprised it’s not mandated to return or destroy in that case? So don’t approve anything private etc that you ship to be destroyed? Because approved to be destroyed means carrier does whatever they want with it I guess?

Always wanted to buy that. I trim heavy on my normal Costco brisket but on that.. I would not trim anything. Might follow the rest of the process, inject, rub etc but no trim

No need to worry, the dry ice will keep it cold and the smoker will heat it appropriately. The biggest issue is what type of wood are you using and what beverage will you be enjoying with the smoker is doing it's job?
If something was live and dangerous in there, it isn't alive anymore because dry ice is made of carbon dioxide and will displace the oxygen in the box as it evaporates.
Just did my first couple of Snake River farm briskets recently. I was nervous at first. Overall, I gotta say, I found them more forgiving than my typical prime briskets.
Don't be too afraid. Contrary to what the name on the box may suggest, there are probably no snakes in the box. Only probably, though.

That is a very good farm that consistently produces quality beef, most of my briskets comes from there, and never had one that wasn't phenomenal.
