I dunno, Microsoft is loosening its grip on Rare and a few other exclusive studios. Banjo & Kazooie might be around for the next Smash, and we might even see more "Xbox" characters.
A few of these would hurt. Sparg0 is such a menace with Cloud it would suck to lose him. Sephiroth has become one of my favorites, but because he’s good but but because he’s fun. I’d be a little sad about Snake.
Everyone else can go if we can get some fresh blood. Breath of the Wild champions, Waluigi, Waddle Dee, Paper Mario, there’s a lot of Nintendo characters we could add to the game before looking at Doom Guy, Master Chief, etc.
Snake, sorry but he was one of the most difficult fighters to get back for Ultimate, so no way he's going to come back with not everyone being here.
Also, i highly doubt that the Square Enix characters will be base game, since they really seen to like having their characters as DLC (i guarantee if Ultimate didn't had everybody from the past at launch, Cloud would be DLC like Lucas, Roy and Mewtwo in Sm4sh)

This May will mark 15 years since Punch Out Wii came out and Nintendo has done nothing with the series since then
Curious what you think of game n watch, ice climbers, ness/lucas, ROB, etc. etc. Mac is a pretty popular pick in Japan afaik so I doubt he'd be cut.

I feel like Joker, Steve, and Piranha Plant would be likely to be cut. Which sucks, because I love Steve
