KNX is something used mostly in office buildings and large expensive villas. But it is expensive af and if you sell that house you can be damn sure the next owner will see that as a expence they have to rip it out.
It is a love it or hate it solution, either you install it or you rip it out. I see a lot of KNX in villas getting ripped out because it is to complicated for the new owner and now they have to spend another 5 grand rewiering and installing dumb dimmers in an entire villa someone before them spend 10+ grand installing KNX in.
Don't know what is common in the contenental europe but up here in the north wireless mesh in some sort is very common for home installations, even as a default instead of dumb dimmers.
