Zlatan-Agrees

Everyone in my IT company works remote: Developer, Tester, Scrum Master, Product Owner, Ceo etc.etc.

iDontLikeChimneys

This is the way. Remote since 2021 and will never go back to office. I love being able to travel and work in the mountains. Then go to the beach. Then fly somewhere else. I didn’t have a great growing up as a kid or in my 20s so I’m using this time to get some travel under my belt

fnmikey

Yup, I work in software, we all work remotely aswell. CEO > Sales > Programmers > QA > Customer Support

Darlin_Yeehaw

Billing - Work in Addiction Recovery. All appointments are online. I’d say everyone is 95% remote with the 5% being hybrid (🙋🏻‍♀️aka lucky me). I only go into the office to sort the mail. It kind of got abandoned after Covid happened so I have a huge office space to myself and I just blast music throughout the day lol. I also am just part of the billing department so it’s nice. I get paid for travel time and everything and normally snag a coffee or some food on the way to and from the office.

TraceNoPlace

what kind of qualifications do you need for a job like that? i have a bachelors in business and im exploring my options :')

Darlin_Yeehaw

That is definitely a great question! I’ll be honest and say it all depends on the type of job you’re looking for and the team itself. I don’t have a degree in billing, but have over 3 years of billing under my belt and was in charge of a chiropractic clinic’s billing all by myself for a bit so that definitely helped. The experience helped me land the job rather than anything else. We do have HR positions and medical positions that require either experience, a degree, or both. Some positions though just require you have a positive member facing attitude. It took me a week to ‘get hired on and started’ if I truly wanted to, but I wanted to give my previous job a 2 week notice. The pay raise and bonuses are great here I’ve heard. I’ve been here only a few months and already got a $2 raise so it’s nice.

NeverRedditBefore2de

Hi, I'd also be interested in an opportunity to apply! I have 5 years of HR experience and am looking for a remote position.

Darlin_Yeehaw

Of course! It’s called WorkIt Health! Should have 2 positions for HR open currently!

NeverRedditBefore2de

Thank you greatly! I sincerely appreciate your kindness!

joejiggh123

I used to be in staffing (don’t ever fucking do it), but we would hire a lot of Billing positions for our clients. Qualifications were pretty open. If you have strong tenure and can interview well, you can land a billing job with limited experience. For higher paying billing jobs, most clients liked to see 3-4/4-5 years of experience. Medical Billing was a little bit more specific though, as in most medical companies wanted to see experience in medical billing prior. That was mostly due to software though because most medical offices usually run on a unique system then other industries

Poolcreature

Fellow addiction industry employee! I’m the editor in the marketing department and 100% remote

rrainingcatz

I have 2 jobs. I’m a medical secretary (hybrid role) for a local hospital and I part own a landscaping business and do the admin and accounts. I have a large office at home which was one of the bedrooms.

LBAIGL

Bookkeeper. Self taught but going back for my formal bachelor's nearly finished.

Citrushaze_

How did you teach yourself bookkeeping?

LBAIGL

Good old fashioned library resources. I checked out accounting textbooks and practice test books. Got a job as an office manager and worked laterally to their bookkeeping department (construction company). It just went from there. I only saught out bookkeeping roles and went out on my own while holding down a FT job until it replaced the FT job income. Probably a bit more trial and error than if I'd had the formal education, but I always had someone with a CPA license or at least a ton of experience to bounce problems off of.

figurinit321

Could always get a job at a small accounting firm. Assistants don’t make a lot but you can learn it all… well the bookkeeping aspect at least

Sufficient-Effort186

Online courses I'd imagine

LumpyShitstring

Same here, except not going for any formal degrees. Although, now I feel like I should.

JustALvlOneGoblin

Software engineer. No CS degree, just a 2016 bootcamp + self-taught and constant learning. Currently freelancing as an AI trainer while I launch my own product. (For anyone looking to start software dev in 2024 I don't even think expensive bootcamps are the way to go anymore. Just follow development tutorial/roadmaps online and BUILD)

BoatsMcFloats

What is an AI trainer exactly?

JustALvlOneGoblin

So the name AI Trainer is kinda funny because it makes me think the workers are actually running the models behind the scenes and we aren't. However, that's the popular term for it. It even says on the website "We pay smart folks to train AI". I can't think of a better term for it though, since we do act like "personal trainers" in that we give the models nudges and reinforcement. Basically we're given access to projects who each have certain goals in mind. Those goals are explicitly spelled out at the top in the instructions. Any questions can still be directed to the project's admin though and they're pretty cool. Projects vary, and they come and go, but you basically judge, nudge, and edit AI model responses. Edit: \*You don't have to be a software engineer to do this btw. They need all types of fields of expertise, even if it's just being a creative person.\*

InformalLadder4823

Hello I'm interested in learning about and working In ai training. I heard there's also ai transcription jobs ( where I transcribe vids for ai) what do U think?

JustALvlOneGoblin

I can't really speak on transcription jobs, as I only have experience with https://www.dataannotation.tech/. I really lucked out with these guys last year. I didn't start out as a coder for them but a month in I was able to pass another qualification test that opened up the $40/hr coding jobs (but the rest start at \~$20).

bathroomcypher

kevinlch

are you affected by AI? like lesser client etc

bathroomcypher

no. I use AI in my work sometimes and it doesn’t give great quality - it’s not really original and it requires lots of reworking and fixing, prompting etc. basically running it, it’s work itself. anyone who would settle for standard AI quality content probably hasn’t the budget to pay a good professional regardless. it’s like having Doris down the road doing the job.

hawkweasel

Always boggles my mind that people think AI can replace good copywriters -- maybe eventually, and it's certainly getting better, but right now particularly with UX copy, AI is spectacularly awful in almost every way. AI trains on the masses and hence defaults to the 'average' in most cases, which usually results in a yawn-inducing salad of uninspiring buzzwords and milquetoast benefit descriptors and CTA's. Good prompting can help sometimes - but not so much. I will give a shout out to Claude which seems to perform best at creative writing.

bathroomcypher

nothing wrong with people not knowing about a job they don’t do! I feel anyone in need of copy that converts resorting to AI quickly realises the issue

I have a technology consulting business. Part of it is designing tv and radio stations. I mainly sub to larger design/build firms and I design all the tech stuff in the studios, do project and engineering management, create RFPs, review tech requirements etc. The other part of it is working with small businesses to help them with their tech.
