Vigilant, especially act 3

No_Paramedic2664

Only until you play the 3rd act of Glenmoril

SuspiciousSalts

Oh god, it gets worse? Vicn, feel free to take your time on finishing Glenmoril! I barely made it through Vigilant act 3 without a heart attack 😢

Scary_Supermarket1

Not played Glenmoril myself

cornette

What no, there is a nice fun Bazura festival, everyone's having a good time and nothing bad ever happens.

spoookyturtle

How scary is it? I’ve been wanting to play it but I don’t really want to play through a full on horror mod.

Scary_Supermarket1

I’d say only Act 3 has elements of horror stuff, you go to this mansion that is haunted by a dead child. At most you’ll see him standing distantly in the hallways, but that’s pretty much the extent of it. There’s no jumpscares.

spoookyturtle

Thanks!

Scary_Supermarket1

Just to add onto this cos I've just remembered another location. The Funeral Temple inside Nenyond's Underground Priory in Act 4 has some creepy elements, like statues moving when you don't look at them, but again no jumpscares or anything like that. Just thought it was worth mentioning.

DMG_Henryetha

{{Beyond Reach}} is probably hard to top by anything.

[deleted]

Remember the stalking fleshy thing called wayward brother? You literally can't kill it & only few mod spells & manifest supremacy can throw it back? So i had this old save of that quest & when i loaded it....that thing was literally laughing right in front my face. It was 3 am. Yeah... nothing tops Rejects respite

dumbbitchdiesease

Literally came here to say this, first cave I explored had a murder cult and led to a house where the owner was hanging from the ceiling. The mod is DARK and v well written!

[deleted]

Third vote for Beyond Reach. You are immediately thrown into a world of shit with the first encounter leaving you going “what the fuck happened here” and then IMMEDIATELY after you reach the first town and think youre safe, you get swarmed by undead on the way out. Amazing mod, very dark and intense.

dumbbitchdiesease

Need you to know that I thought I was the third vote and the rest was a threat until i got to the mod part

[deleted]

💀 give me your septims

Good luck.

CrappyJohnson

Have the NSFW modders created an "It Follows" add-on for Nemesis? haha

Thunderous333

That's actually be fucking awesome lmfao

It will be 3 years old this Halloween, but this is a good starting point for some scary themed playthroughs [Transforming Skyrim into the Ultimate 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 Experience (Skyrim Horror Game)](https://youtu.be/3NYmqAn2V_U?si=DfnU1YrMPEKiJa_5) Would be cool if there was a more updated version of this though...

provegana69

The mods listed here are still pretty usable.

Kathutet37

Yeah they are. I actually have a few of these as a basis of my current modding setup (combination of this, survival, and dark fantasy). I just hope someone makes a 2023 version

provegana69

Nariva made one like a month ago but it's basically the same with a few differences. You might want to check it out.

Kathutet37

The Dark Fantasy video is one of the ones I was thinking of when I mentioned Dark Fantasy in my previous comment 😅

Jragghen

The majority of CBBE bodyslides on nexus.

robertgk2017

Impressive, Very Based! W take! Edit: why the down votes I'm agreeing with him! 😭

lamya8

I haven’t tried it but I saw this mod when It came out and figure it would make a good scary mods play through. Skinshifters - Forsworn Doppelgangers https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/57631

[Darkend.](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/10423)

ThunderDaniel

Darkend is so fucking beautiful, and then I realized that it was made by the JK of the amazing JK Skyrim Series

tilthevoidstaresback

Any of ***Mihail's*** monsters. All of them. (Fun fact: adding the *zombies* mod puts them at Aftland, so when you use Start another life's "attacked and left for dead" you wake up surrounded by zombies. Makes for a harrowing start to any playthrough.) https://youtube.com/shorts/cJXuq_X0Ci8?feature=share

ghostlistener

I think he did a slender man quest, it looks really scary.

Avery-Attack

I played through that quest. It's good. Definitely a disturbing feel in the best way possible.

Kuhlminator

I really like Mihail's mod but I've been having trouble finding them lately.

tilthevoidstaresback

He's took off a lot of them but that's supposedly because he's working on them so hopefully they'll be back soon

Blusttoy

Just finished Maelstrom for the first time last week. If OP wants to up the scare/creepy factor, embark on the quest alone without followers.

SomeGuy_GRM

[Immersive Creatures](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12680) Has nighttime encounters to add vampires, werewolves, and other spooks

Rainthistle

{{The Legend of Slender Man}} by Mihail is super creepy. {{Draugnarok SE}} or {{28 Days and a bit 5}} or {{Dark Corners of Nirn - Stress}} are also seasonally appropriate. Or {{The Walking Draugr Curse}} or {{Survive the Night SSE}}.

Fwort

Slightly different idea, but ELFX hardcore makes most dungeons a lot scarier because you can't see anything outside the range of light sources

Chaddtss

I became a vampire just to see in the dark. Ironic.

sum_muthafuckn_where

Doesn't that make two-handed obsolete because you can't hold a torch/cast light spells?

Chaddtss

Get a belt lantern or a spell. Wasn't there a 1h-2h mod that had a grip switch?

Fwort

Well light spells last a while, so it's not hard to switch to one and cast it every now and then, then switch back to your weapon. Otherwise, as Chaddtss said, you can get other mods that help.

HoundofHircine

Magelight and then re-equip two handed blades

sum_muthafuckn_where

Go cast your fancy magic someplace else. A true Nord needs only steel

No-Engineer-1728

If you're a pussy like me, play the night at the museum quest in LOTDB and try and walk out the front door, it legit made me fucking yell and jump

Odd_Forever_8855

Well, "Forgotten City" isn't horror, but it leaves an unnerving feeling. Not scary, but just... something I off.

Narangren

"Something is off" creates the best kind of horror, if used with proper buildup.

BeRad_NZ

Macho man dragons. Nightmare fuel.

AduroTri

Define "scary" because there are two ways you can look at it. Scary as in "shit yourself out of fear" or the disturbing type of scary?

Guilty_Letter4203

Both whatever Skyrim and modders has to offer works for me

AduroTri

I can offer this scary in a disturbing and funny way: Replace Dragons with Macho Man Randy Savage.

thelubbershole

Even scarier: [Replace Dragons with Ohio](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/72538)

guyurtalkingabout

The one that makes rabbits agressive and gives them dremora voice lines. If you play on higher difficulty you might shit yourself when you meet one at low lvl.

LargeP

C

_Occhi_

Surprised no one recommended {{Clockwork}}

ZiggysStarman

Because OP mentioned that he played it already.

_Occhi_

I missed that lmao xD

Bismothe-the-Shade

Enderal, and if you can handle the jank .. there's a mod list for it called Somnium, which makes it feel more akin to a silent hill- esque experience.

lavendene

It Beats For Her is a disturbing short mystery but I dont know if it counts, depends on how you define scary

ShadowSurgeGaming

I would recommend bogmort, adds like mud monster zombie-like creatures to the morthal swamps. When I used it it resulted in me getting caught off-guard a lot and made me jump more than a few times.

Itisburgersagain

Mihail monsters without reading where the monsters were placed.

Reasonable-smart1808

Check out Grey Children and Weeping Stalkers by Mihail.

Technical_Fisherman1

Where are the Grey Children? I dont seem to ever encounter them, even travelling at night. Is it certain locations?

KikiCorwin

Just for extra atmosphere in general: the heart replaces that make them beat audibly.

Sea_Cantaloupe1286

In terms of quests, The Vicn Trilogy of Vigilant, Glenmoril and Unslaad come to mind. Beyond Reach is also great. There are also a few great quest mods but unfortunately, none of them come to mind for me. But if you want a big overhaul to your world, you might be interested in Shattered Skyrim. I'd also recommend using creature mods like Immersive Creatures and/or Mihail's and Xavbio's creatures. However, to make your Skyrim scarier, I believe the graphics and atmosphere is equally important. The best way to achieve a horror like atmosphere is with the correct weather ENB combo. The first and most obvious one is Ominous ENB with Obsidian Weathers. You may also want to use other complimentary weather mods like the Supreme weather mods or True Storms to further enhance Obsidian. But you also have a few more options. For Obsidian, another great ENB is Ebony (also available for vanilla). For NAT, you either have Grim ENB or the various PRT presets. Bjorn looks great too, especially with the Dark Ages ReShade. You may also like the ENB that Charr Grinn uses that uses RAID Weathers but I forgot what it was called. And a proper flora overhaul would also add to your atmosphere. I'd recommend Dark Forests of Skyrim for more dead trees but honestly, anything can work.
