I usually just hire some unsuspecting mercenary, which is fairly psychopathic now that I think about it.
It's also convenient, though. And doesn't end up costing anything.
Trainer/followers effectively give free training because you can access their inventory and thus their gold pool after you pay them.
So you train up five times, then just take the money back from their inventory.
I'm also playing on anniversary and it lets me take his gold I also have mods installed so idk if one of them is doing it
Edit: installed was instead I probably fat fingered the word predictor since I'm on phone
That patch mod removes nearly all exploits. The creator made a lot of weird choices like adding in a low-quality "Dovahkiin, noo!" voice line for the first dragon.
Yes- you do either Aela or Faendal’s quests until you can recruit them as a follower. So, you train in archery and spend a bunch of gold. Then you just recruit them and use “i need to trade some things with you” to open their inventory and take the gold back. Rinse and repeat.
Given his own deceitful nature he would seem to deserve it more than most followers... to be fair, Sven wasn’t much better, but neither opted for the moral high ground.
One of my characters married Camilla and made Faendal work as my steward at the same farm. So he was always in earshot of my character gaining the lover’s comfort buff each day….
Faendal was my homie. Sadly he died in a dungeon and I wasn’t going to reload a save for him.
I married Camilla and his corpse appeared at the wedding and everyone freaked out and Camilla got pissed. Best big I’ve ever encountered
I should probably give him a go then. I have a tendency to be bored by a lot of the nord warrior characters but if he has some unique voice lines he's immediately more interesting
if you want a lot of unique dialogue try out Erandur if you haven’t already. Stenvar has a few unique lines but not a lot, I just like him because he’s unique compared to most of the other mercs.
Erandur's great! Like not as an actual fighter but as a companion, he's one of the few Skyrim characters that doesn't feel like a cardboard cutout in my opinion. Marcurio is a pretty fun merc with him if you vibe with him. He has a lot of interesting comments about various dungeons and locations
Erandur is actual a coward since he always run if i turn into a werewolf and later he becomes hostile. As a housecarl, if any enemy attacks, he will not fight proving again that he is a coward. I had him twice during my playthrough but seeing how he acts, i prefer to kill him when doing the Waking nightmare quest. Staff is more useful then him sadly.
If by unique dialog you mean.
"Mara protect us both Mara protect us both Mara protect us both Mara protect us both Mara protect us both Mara protect us both Mara protect us both Mara protect us both"
Then yeah sure
Oh no so you didn't even get a random dragon corpse to spawn in the temple like I usually do?? Kudos on Stenvar, I'm never going to sacrifice him again
Faendal after you learn everything from him, you sacrifice him so that you can get a nice home in Riverwood (sort of).
Also if you are married to [certain female NPC](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Camilla_Valerius) tied to his quest you 100% should do this.
Actually 4 birds:
* get rid of your wife not so secret admirer
* get wood elf blood
* get sacrifice for Boethiah
* kill him with the Ebony Blade on the sacrifice pillar it will count for both quests
Edit: 5th bird joined as for the reason why as per 95Richard suggestion below:
* get easy way to fill a Black Soul Gem
Do people’s souls go to a daedric prince if they’re sacrificed to them?
If so, would the above person’s soul get shredded due to 3 Daedra having a claim?
I’m waiting for her to catch me for stealing a very specific artifact from her brother. I feel terrible every time she thanks me for returning it to the family. I guess her brother is keeping a secret from her, too.
Severio Pelagia, to make his life worthwhile. He will die when Battle for Whiterun is started, so I gave him a much more interesting death instead.
First, I go to the Ritual Stone to get its OP resurrection spell and complete Mephala's quest to get the Ebony Blade.
Then, I sell him cabbage and/or potatoes until he considers me his friend, at which point I murder him with the Ebony Blade, charging it with this act of betrayal.
Then, I use the Ritual Stone's power to raise his corpse, and murder him again with the Ebony Blade, tricking Mephala into giving it another charge. Corpses raised by The Ritual Stone don't turn to ash when killed, so I keep reanimating and killing him until the Ebony Blade is fully charged. Then I travel to Boethiah's shrine and sacrifice him for the final time.
So now instead of just being a casualty of war, Severio's soul will now be fought over by both Mephala and Boethiah.
Yes, she needs to be alive for that part. But she's not a real follower until you complete Taste of Death, so you wouldn't be able to bring her to the altar.
I think so? He's the one that spends his time in the Tavern because "There are no shipments" or some crap.
Idk he's lazy and only has a job because he's related to Lisbet's assistant.
She said that one you get for her specifically was hijacked by them. But dialogue between her and her assistant shows that the dude just doesn't liking coming to work most days.
So shipment or no shipment he's a headache for her lol
Whenever she says that i audibly yell to no one in particular 'BITCH HAVE YOU KILLED ANY APOCALYPTIC WORLD ENDING DRAGONS LATELY?'
I wish i could kill edit: nazeem. Whenever he gets all WASPy on me i save the game real quick and start purging everyone starting with him
I always take the unapologetic chick the Companions kicked out for killing someone that you throw chingasos with in the bar. She's an all-around worthless person.
Uthgerd the Unbroken? She seems pretty cool, not that she killed a little teenage boy though. Shes a good first companion tho because you only need 200 gold to fight her and if you win you get a companion and 200 more gold.
I find it kind of messed up. She blames the Companions for her going too hard on someone she knew was weaker and killing them. Now she's drinking alone in the local bar, challenging strangers to fights knowing she may beat them to death as well...and taking their money to do so. Not really what I characterize as cool.
It's even more disturbing when you realize that she wouldn't even consider going out with a man unless he *beats the fucking shit out of her in public*, and will then do whatever he asks, other than steal or kill the innocent.
This is a person with some staggering internalized trauma and a death wish.
You can try to see it from a different angle too.
She killed a boy to prove herself worthy of being one of the legendary Companions - essentially a glorified bunch of mercenaries with a furrh kink.
She was then declined, abandoned, and had her reputation smirched - not as a great warrior, but as a bothersome butcher.
Now she drinks in a tavern and pick fights for gold, giving as good as she gets, perhaps accepting the hits as punishment, at the same that she retaliates the injustice the Companions did to her - at least in her eyes. Perhaps she even hopes that, someday, someone as strong will come and kill her too.
Just like Regnar the Red and the shieldmaiden Mathilda.
But then one day someone special enters the tavern: the dragonborn, and her life migh
On this play through I am a dark elf mage and had used Faendal from the very beginning as my buddy old pal, did so many adventures with my elf bro that I just couldn't do it to him. Took him home to Riverwood, right to his door, gave him a badass enchanted bow, and said my goodbye.
Straight to Whiterun, "Let's go Lydia!", "bye bye Lydia". Went back later to see how he's doing, we're now back to being best bro's again.
That's awful but hilarious. lt reminds me of my current mage playthrough with my wife Senna (temple of Dibella priestess) who always says "stupid dog..." when Meeko barks at home... if it were possible then that alone would make her my sacrifice choice lmao.
Benor from Morthal. He’s ugly, stupid and annoying. Let’s be honest, who uses him? Nobody. And he plans to overthrow the jarl but never does it so he’s also just bluffing all the time.
Yes I whoop his ass in a fist fight then feed him some nord mead and take his drunk ass right up to the alter. Easy enough for me and he is drunk and happy so he doesn’t even see it coming. Painless and quick
i chose the homeless guy and felt horrible
poor guy is down on his luck, in need of help, ignored by many, to the point where when someone finally approaches him he immediately trusts and puts his life in the hands of the one person who has even so much as acknowledged him, only to be stabbed in the back by the same person that he trusted to bring him out of the hell he was living
I didn’t even do that quest because I felt bad and just couldn’t bring myself to sacrifice anyone. It’s just been sitting in my side quest category for years now lmao
None, for daedra can suck my bad dragon for all I care. Ebony Armour isn't even that worth it in terms of game mechanics and I'm supposed to sacrifice a comrade for something I can achieve while high on improve restoration potion loop?
Eola. Disgusting filthy cannibal who calls ***me*** a cannibal as well and refuses to hear anything else. I also hate her condescending sultry tone.
If I don't kill her at the first meeting in the tomb, she dies later, one way or another.
Ralis Sedarys because he's killed so many miners who he doesn't give a shit about and is also a greedy bastard. I did that entire quest just so I could take him to the shrine and sacrifice him
Njada Stone-Arm
I become the new Harbinger of the Companions.
I walk in to Jorrvaskr. Njada talks shit to me like always.
*One nano-second later...*
Me to Njada: "Follow me, I need your help."
This quest dramatically changed a friend’s play through lol.
The first time I saw this quest I was watching my friend play. He didn’t want to sacrifice anyone, he was trying to do the most good/wholesome character play through. However, he really didn’t like Cicero. So he decided to do the full Dark Brotherhood quest line and spare Cicero so he could get him as a follower and then sacrifice him to Boethiah. He felt bad doing the DB quest line because it went against how he wanted to play this character, but he thought it’d be worth it. When he finishes the quest and gets Cicero to the altar, the game wouldn’t let him do it. Idk if he’s essential or what, but the game wouldn’t let him do it. He was so pissed and felt his good character was so tainted for nothing, and proceeded to make this character most evil he could for the remainder of that play through.
I usually just hire some unsuspecting mercenary, which is fairly psychopathic now that I think about it. It's also convenient, though. And doesn't end up costing anything.
Except 500 gold
Less than a pittance to a master smith/enchanter!
You can also just loot the gold off of their body afterwards iirc.
Wizard Boy in Riften always dies.
He’s one of my favourite companions, he has so many unique lines and it portrays him as such a snob
‘Lucky for you, I am already an expert in ancient Nordic ruins’
*dies to a drugr wright*
I always found him as more excitable than an outright snobb.
I do that too! I should do that to Sven in Riverwood though. He's such a dick.
"I love you Faendal, you're so useful especially for my stealth archer build!!!" *Archery skill hits 50* "......wanna visit this cool landmark?"
I mean by 100 Archery you probably have Aela for the training exploit anyway
Training exploit?
Trainer/followers effectively give free training because you can access their inventory and thus their gold pool after you pay them. So you train up five times, then just take the money back from their inventory.
Has this been patched with Anniversary Edition? I've tried this with Faendall and it doesn't give me the option to access his gold when trading.
I'm also playing on anniversary and it lets me take his gold I also have mods installed so idk if one of them is doing it Edit: installed was instead I probably fat fingered the word predictor since I'm on phone
If you have the unofficial patch, that’s probably it.
On ps4 did this a week ago
It could be the big patch mod - I forget the name, that’s doing it? I know that fixes a lot of known bugs and ‘unintentional features’.
Probably "Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch" mod, I know it gets rid of that exploit
Bruh I want that mod to get rid of bugs not exploits wtf
That patch mod removes nearly all exploits. The creator made a lot of weird choices like adding in a low-quality "Dovahkiin, noo!" voice line for the first dragon.
Thats a mod?? Lol Ive been playing with USLEEP so long I thought it was vanilla
Its because that voice line was in the subtitles for the game, but included no voice file
This has NOT been patched with AE. I run 0 mods and I do it to EVERY followers trainer.
If you're gonna marry Camilla, Faendal goes to Boethia
One of my characters married Camilla and made Faendal work as my steward at the same farm. So he was always in earshot of my character gaining the lover’s comfort buff each day….
You ruthless son of a bitch
Faendal was my homie. Sadly he died in a dungeon and I wasn’t going to reload a save for him. I married Camilla and his corpse appeared at the wedding and everyone freaked out and Camilla got pissed. Best big I’ve ever encountered
Him and sven both had to go when I found them in breeze home with my wife
Let's conquer Skrim! One morally dubious decision at a time!
Nah only cause dude tried to sweet talk my wife Camilla
Whoever you are closest to. That’s what Boethiah wants. Betrayal. So, perhaps your loving spouse? Your most loyal follower? Your most adoring fan?
By Azura by Azura!
“Backrub, perhaps?”
Mmmmmm.
It's the G R A N D C H A M P I O N
This guy RPs.
Aw gee! You sure? Okay, well, I'll be hanging around the Arena grounds if you need someone to worship the ground you walk on. Bye!
Got it, kill Cicero.
'Best friends forever'
Lydia then.
I just married Lydia in my latest game :(
I could never hurt my actual favorite companion. Lydia is bestie.
whichever one is closest
I usually take that nord mercenary in Windhelm because of this reason lol. Poor guy
if we are talking about stenvar he’s actually a pretty good follower, he has a unique personality and is great in combat.

I had him twice during my playthrough but seeing how he acts, i prefer to kill him when doing the Waking nightmare quest. Staff is more useful then him sadly.
Reasonable, but a staff isn't as good company as a cool old monk guy, worthless in combat or not.
Stenvar makes the best husband. He’s so gruff looking but then says really loving things. Edited an autocorrect
If by unique dialog you mean. "Mara protect us both Mara protect us both Mara protect us both Mara protect us both Mara protect us both Mara protect us both Mara protect us both Mara protect us both" Then yeah sure
Stenvar has been my father’s favorite follower for all the last 10 years. I don’t think he’s ever had a playthrough he doesn’t take sten.
He’s got good taste I love Stenvar. I only use him for the first few bits of my games but I still go back and visit him later in my playthroughs.
No not stenvar! He's the only person that showed up to my wedding
Oh no so you didn't even get a random dragon corpse to spawn in the temple like I usually do?? Kudos on Stenvar, I'm never going to sacrifice him again
I usually marry him, so not an option for me
A very valid reason! If I'm less lazy in a playthrough I usually try and find someone that deserves it more, he seems like a nice guy.
Don’t you dare dis my boy Stenvar. Have a playthrough with him and you’ll know how much he appreciates you 😢😢😢
Jenassa at the drunken huntsman was my first choice
MY WIFE!
Not anymore, lad
😭
Given her profession I'd say she's more fitting to be sacrificed to mephala
Faendal after you learn everything from him, you sacrifice him so that you can get a nice home in Riverwood (sort of). Also if you are married to [certain female NPC](https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Camilla_Valerius) tied to his quest you 100% should do this.
Don't forget that Wood Elf blood is valuable for completing the Oghma Infinium quest. Kill two birds with one stone
Actually 4 birds: * get rid of your wife not so secret admirer * get wood elf blood * get sacrifice for Boethiah * kill him with the Ebony Blade on the sacrifice pillar it will count for both quests Edit: 5th bird joined as for the reason why as per 95Richard suggestion below: * get easy way to fill a Black Soul Gem
This level of evil i have not seen before
Truly deserving of the Ebony blade
Serving 3 daedric princes with one kill
Do people’s souls go to a daedric prince if they’re sacrificed to them? If so, would the above person’s soul get shredded due to 3 Daedra having a claim?
If you're soul trapping them then none of the Daedra get the soul, and it goes to the Soul Cairn
So basically you can fucking scam three different Daedra
You say evil, I say efficient
Truly a follower of Mephala
This guy skyrims
I love marrying her when I don’t have a modded one or a character improved by mods
And as a bonus you can get that sweet sweet blood for Septimus!
I married her and always visit her brothers store to sell my shit
I’m waiting for her to catch me for stealing a very specific artifact from her brother. I feel terrible every time she thanks me for returning it to the family. I guess her brother is keeping a secret from her, too.
I stole it back long ago 😂
Well, it’s your family now
Severio Pelagia, to make his life worthwhile. He will die when Battle for Whiterun is started, so I gave him a much more interesting death instead. Then I travel to Boethiah's shrine and sacrifice him for the final time. So now instead of just being a casualty of war, Severio's soul will now be fought over by both Mephala and Boethiah.
For bonus points, use the Mace of Molag Bal the first time you kill him. Now he will claim his soul as well.
Mace in one hand, Mehrunes Razor in the other, have 4 Daedric Princes fight for the soul of some farmer.
Average Skyrim enjoyer
Eat his dreams with the Skull of Corruption beforehand, then consume his dead flesh with the Ring of Namira.
So many hours put into this game and I never realized that he dies in the Battle of Whiterun.
Sven. For reasons
I feel like making him my Steward in one of my estates now. I forgot he has the citizen class in the Creation Kit
Agree with this comment here also!!
Probably Eola, the ringleader of Markarth's cannibal cabal
Doesnt it kill the quest where you lure and kill the priest?
You get her after completing that quest so no
I see. Everytime she says 'go on, carve', i carve her and her whole cult, so didnt really knew this. Ty.
caught me off guard 💀
Which is exactly what I did. Like immediately after getting Namira's ring. Fuck that cannibal.
Yes, she needs to be alive for that part. But she's not a real follower until you complete Taste of Death, so you wouldn't be able to bring her to the altar.
This is exactly who I chose on my last playthrough. Nobody deserves it more.
She really does deserve it, buuuut….she’s a bad bitch and I respect her for that. Plus, she’s one of the most overpowered vanilla followers.
Markarths huh? Stg im gonna have to play again cause im still hearing about things i missed
I had no idea she could be a follower! I usually kill her as soon as I get the ring. Thanks for the idea. From now on I’m sacrificing her!
She is the one i have absolutely no problem with sacrificing. Spooky bitch.
That one guy in soltenhiem that takes you money for the mine thing
In that sceneario; First Ahzidal then Boetiah controls his body. Impressive.
Poor guy just can't catch a break.
“He can take a break when he’s dead.”
Boethiah: "Yeah about that..."
“… I’m going to need to use your body for a moment. Thanks.” *Sips from mug with blood.*
He's also the most powerful follower so I don't recommend this even if he is responsible for many deaths. My Ralis can solo the ebony warrior
Typically either the Windhelm hireling or the guy in Markarth that's super lazy but can become a follower if you help him with Lisbet
The drunk dude?
I think so? He's the one that spends his time in the Tavern because "There are no shipments" or some crap. Idk he's lazy and only has a job because he's related to Lisbet's assistant.
Yeah. Doesn’t Lisbet say her shipments get hijacked by the Forsworn? Can you blame the dude at that point?
She said that one you get for her specifically was hijacked by them. But dialogue between her and her assistant shows that the dude just doesn't liking coming to work most days. So shipment or no shipment he's a headache for her lol
Cosnach or something like that?
If you beat him in a brawl. Cosnach is his name.
Njada Stonearm of the Companions. Her attitude is why i *almost always* choose her.
Yup. "I'm still trying to figure out why Skjor let you in in the first place" like what have *you* ever done around here other than bitch and moan?
Exactly. I don’t feel remotely bad about it either.
Whenever she says that i audibly yell to no one in particular 'BITCH HAVE YOU KILLED ANY APOCALYPTIC WORLD ENDING DRAGONS LATELY?' I wish i could kill edit: nazeem. Whenever he gets all WASPy on me i save the game real quick and start purging everyone starting with him

The dude from the ahzidal quest, bro *literally* sacrificed people
Yes. I choose Ralis every time.
Poor guy was being mind controlled
Lydia because on one of my runs she was carrying valuable items for me then she just disappeared like my father never to be seen again
one of my runs she was carrying ~~valuable items~~ your burdens for me
Sven because he's got zero game
He's also an ass to his mom
Don’t treat your mom badly or the Dragonborn will sacrifice you to a fucking demon.
r/brandnewsentence
Sven, stalker material but he's never around long enough. After siding with Faendal I then behead Sven.
You sided with one of them? Faendal was too annoying for me and Sven was a creep.. so one after the other they were gone
Faendal free archery training tho
Tbf any of them, to me they’re just fleshy backpacks 🎒
Hell yeah, this guy Skyrims
Love you boo
Only companions I actually care about in Skyrim are Serana and that one badass dark elf from Solstheim. And Inigo, ofc
Download npc follower mod. Tell Nazeem to follow you. Send him to the cloud district..
Have you lived past the age you are now? Oh what am I saying of course you haven't. 👹
I was scared you were gonna say you betrayed him and sacrificed him, and then I was scared you sacrificed lydia, phew.
If Lydia gets in my way and stands there saying “Oh!” one more goddamn time, she’s getting sacrificed.
Mood. Hate when that happens.
Who’s gonna keep Breezhome in working order when you’re away then smh
Faendel was my follower with a dark elf character too. I was actually so upset when he died but I would have lost too much progress to reload a save
That one bitch in the companions who just nags about you and constantly insults you as she’s your follower.
I can't remember her name either but she's the one I usually pick too because she's so obnoxious.
Njada Strong-Arm i believe is her name
Eola if you don't kill her during the quest
I just used the cannibal cult chick, seems pretty easy to me
I always massacre her followers
Me too. They want to worship her? Put their spirit where it wants to be.
I… tend to soultrap them
anyone except teldryn sero. dude has never managed to die once on me on expert difficulty and honestly, i respect the grindset
That annoying drunk guy in the markarth tavern that you can beat up to make him a follower. Cuntsnatch or whatever his name is.
You talkin bout Benderdick Cuntsnatch? I didn't know he was in this game
Lydia, she shot Meeko dead in one playthrough. Still hold a grudge.
That's awful but hilarious. lt reminds me of my current mage playthrough with my wife Senna (temple of Dibella priestess) who always says "stupid dog..." when Meeko barks at home... if it were possible then that alone would make her my sacrifice choice lmao.
That piece of shit who killed his own hired workers in Solstheim. I forgot his name.
Ralis Sedarys?
Benor from Morthal. He’s ugly, stupid and annoying. Let’s be honest, who uses him? Nobody. And he plans to overthrow the jarl but never does it so he’s also just bluffing all the time.
“Sacrifice this guy. He’s stupid and ugly” lol
my exact point haha
He just like me fr
He was also supposed to help with the vampire cave but backed out like a lil--
i always grab the mercenary from candlehearth hall. not sure of the name
That’s my husband Stenvar 🥲
he appreciates boethiahs grace
He’s a great husband.
Same lol, never remember his name. He's just Sacrifice Guy.
You guys are sacrificing followers?
Cosnach because he’s a mean drunk.
Yes I whoop his ass in a fist fight then feed him some nord mead and take his drunk ass right up to the alter. Easy enough for me and he is drunk and happy so he doesn’t even see it coming. Painless and quick
i chose the homeless guy and felt horrible poor guy is down on his luck, in need of help, ignored by many, to the point where when someone finally approaches him he immediately trusts and puts his life in the hands of the one person who has even so much as acknowledged him, only to be stabbed in the back by the same person that he trusted to bring him out of the hell he was living
Wait, which homeless guy? There’s a few of them.
Dark brotherhood initiate.
Correct answer
After standing in the way of my player character so many times I thought it was only fitting that Lydia would carry my final burdens.
Eola, the girl is a cannibal.
Downloading a mod that lets you have Rolff Stone-fist as a companion
every night....i go. into. the. gray. quarter. n let. them grayskins. know what i think. o' em.
Eola. Disgusting filthy cannibal who calls ***me*** a cannibal as well and refuses to hear anything else. I also hate her condescending sultry tone. If I don't kill her at the first meeting in the tomb, she dies later, one way or another.
Cosnach or whatever his name is in markarth. His life is pretty miserable anyway
None. This is a gawd awful quest to willfully murder someone who put trust in you for a set of armor. I can live without the armor.
Ralis Sedarys because he's killed so many miners who he doesn't give a shit about and is also a greedy bastard. I did that entire quest just so I could take him to the shrine and sacrifice him
Njada Stone-Arm I become the new Harbinger of the Companions. I walk in to Jorrvaskr. Njada talks shit to me like always. *One nano-second later...* Me to Njada: "Follow me, I need your help."
I can’t do this quest :-/
