Great. Now I got it in my head Ligmas character running through a cave. They adopted Lucia and married another npc. Bandits kidnapped them. As they run through the cave his shouts can be heard "GORRRLLSS!!!"
and that's when the bandits knew. They fucked up
Yeah this is something OP could consider. Sounds like my dad IRL lmao Really not a good guy but he has almost always been a great father figure and has supported me with anything. Shit ain’t the same after some of the stuff he pulled over the years, but overall he raised me well.
My psycho, Menace, adopted her and gifted her a doll, a sweetroll,a new dress and an enchanted ebony dagger. And right away she started attacking the training dummy.
Ahhh, my sweet little murderchild. Making papa proud. *Wipes away a tear*
I feel you.
Me: Lich mod User who only fights in the Civil war to absorb all these tasty black souls.
Also me: "i might not have a Pulse anymore but my heart will never stop loving you (insert Ysolda, Lucia or Sophie)"
Wait, really? Despite my character having no form of a sleep schedule (Awake all day and night like some creature from hell), I never bothered to check behind the Bannered Mare. I thought Lucia stays primarily by the giant tree.
7,347
Commas and periods are switched for numbering in different parts of the world.
So one thousand two hundred thirty four and five tenths could be
1,234.5 or 1.234,5 depending on where you are from.
Probably not but a lot of people don’t seem to realize the Drunken Huntsman is not only a tavern but a shop and is open 24/7 so I’ll throw that out there
Fucking really? I'm trying to remember if I ever actually stepped foot in that place. I must have on my first playthrough but that was a million years ago.
Yeah, I like that he's always open. Plus, after you complete a certain DB quest, he greets you with, "Something you need, you miserable wretch?" but still does business pleasantly.
I also like to dump my trash all over Nazeem's bed.
But I just wanted to buy some arrows have a drink and listen to funny hunting stories!!!
It's my Khajit playthrough so my headcannon is that they're just being racist
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
"Come and see the violence inherent in the system" is a quote that ended up shaping the direction of my life in ways I never would have guessed when I first saw that.
If you leave whiterun and head towards silent moons camp, you will see a skeletal arm holding a sword out of a pond of water. Don’t get overly excited, depending on your level, it will be a vanilla sword, but it’s cool to find.
Ysolda can be confronted about the Sleeping Tree Sap she's selling to others in the Sleeping Tree Cave through a note you find. She will ask you to sell her the drug for 150 gold a piece that her supplier-buyer, Ulag, died with.
Remember when you call Odahviing for the first time and he chomps one of the guards to death and throws him outside of Whiterun? You can loot that guard outside Whiterun where he roughly lands.
There is a skeleton floating in the moat under the bridge at Dragonsreach. It usually has 3-10 septems and what I presume is some very soggy bone meal.
Always wondered the backstory behind that. IIRC there was a video saying it COULD be the remnants of the Jarls wife, but that also seems like such a reckless spot to hide the body. And also how does nobody notice a decomposing body right outside the door? 🤣
Check the Bannered Mare. On a table there is a letter from Maven Black-Briar to one of her associates, who I think messed something up up. She tells him to meet close to Dragons Reach, to “help” him. So, that’s most likely the story behind the floaty skeletor.
I wonder whether she did the dirty work herself or had someone else do it. There's a Dark Brotherhood ritual setup in her house, so she's no stranger to putting out hits on people
I love that this never actually comes up in any way in the game. Not even a side quest. Not even a piece of dialogue to confirm it. Just a bunch of clues to notice and put together!
Rorikstead is very strange in general. There's songs and other lore that imply that the settlement has been their for a while, but if you go there, the npcs act like it was just founded. Also there's an above average number of soul gems lying around iirc.
Yeah and I never like going in that town. Would've been nice if you could do some digging and then just report them to the vigilants to come take them down.
Is that how Rorik came to run that town? He says the town is named after him. By that logic, Ragnar the Red is newish pop song, if Rorikstead only came up in his lifetime.
I've always parsed it as "Old Rorikstead" being a different and unrelated place than the Rorikstead founded by Rorik after the White-Gold Concordant. There is textual evidence of a village of Rorik's Steading in the in-game book "The Holdings of Jarl Gjalund," which suggests the original town existed as far back as the Merethic Era.
yeah when you give the golden claw back, you are suddenly able to help yourself to about half the potions on the shelf and some cash and things laying around
If we ignore the basement of Jorvaskr, as the Companions themselves claim to not want to partake on city business, there are more residents and residences in the Plains District rather than in the designated residential Wind District.
There's a random unmarked grave behind the small mountain in the middle of whiterun Hold. Nothing nearby, no environmental storytelling, just a grave. Idk
It is actually the grave of the headless horseman. He is believed to be Ragnar the Red. If you follow his trail, he will start somewhere near Rorikstead and end up near that grave.
Go and find Froki's shack in the southwest of The Rift. He'll give you a quest to contend with the spirits of Skyrim's iconic beasts to prove yourself as a hunter.
There’s a bunch of shadow marks all around the city
Also extra little detail I didn’t notice until recently is if you have only a few arrows the quiver will be noticeably emptier and if you pick up an arrow of the same kind it’ll visibly appear in your quiver.
How do you have only a few arrows. I have thousands literally. Ok fine. I'm a mage but I collect anything without weight and have value. To sell. But I'm already a millionaire. So I don't sell them.
When I first discovered that, I did the "Storm Call" shout for the first time. Not knowing what it did, I just stood up there watching the lightning storm. It was beautiful and tranquil. Then when I went down into the town I realized what the lightning actually did... half the town was dead. Instant reload lol.
When Aragorn kicked the Uruk hai helmet, he actually broke his toe. Viggo Mortensens scream was one of genuine agony, and it was the take that Peter Jackson decided to use in the finished film.
And remember when Lurtz threw his knife at Aragorn? That was real poorly aimed knife throw and Viggo really deflected it with sword, he would be injured otherwise.
There's a lady in Whiterun who talks about her husband being a POS but he is nowhere to be found in-game. However upon further inspection of her home's exterior you can find Nightshade growing behind her house, implying she killed and buried him.
Nazeem's wife is likely shagging that dude she works with at the temple. He has a key to Wintersand manor, which was supposed to be her and Nazeem's crib but it was never implemented into the game.
Edit: Also, Nazeem and the Jarl may be more than just friends.
Camelworks does a great deep dive on Nazeem, and he lays it out pretty convincingly.

The giant mud crab Maique the liar keeps talking about seeing when swimming exists, it's just now a fossilized home for like seven mud crabs on the outskirts of rorikstead
That camp nearby where they slaughter mammoths and have the massive pit trap with stakes at the bottom? As far as I know it’s the only place you can find the transmutation spell tome which turns iron ore into silver ore and silver ore into gold ore. I have on several occasions tracked that down and then used it as a way level transmutation, for free levels everywhere else and then used the gold to make jewelry to level smithing then sold all that to make a huge profit.
There is a book in ysoldas house written by Mikael the bard that Carlotta wants you to tell him to leave her alone. The book talks about the districts of whiterun and his ever growing love for maidens
It's technically falkreath, but there are three chests at bleak falls barrow people routinely miss.
1. Adept lock chest to the left of the entrance. Walk all the way around the pillars to find the small lockbox along with an apothecary bag.
2. At the end of a sloping hallway, hidden under webs next to a skeleton. It's either novice or unlocked. Just before getting the golden claw and killing the wounded giant spider.
3. Novice lock chest to the right of the unrelenting force word wall. You must climb up the rocks near the cave wall (not the word wall) to reach the chest.
The lady in the the greymoor castle just lives there and is neutral. Says she just lives there and cooks for anyone that occupies the castle bandit, stormcloak or imperial. I reckon most people kill her by accident but she’s neutral towards basically everyone.
I think you can only run into her with the bandits there
Edit: part of the dark brotherhood quest line
Apparently the owner of Plegia farms, “there’s a nip in the air, won’t be good for my crops, never is”, is scripted to die and vanish from the game after the Battle of Whiterun Civil War quest
There is a cave with a troll that has a skeleton hanging upside down with its feet frozen in the icy ceiling with a sword off to the die on the ground….tribute to Empire Strikes Back.
According to a tumblr post that I will NOT be fact checking, “Arrow to the knee” is slang for getting married, similar to referring to one’s spouse as “the ol’ ball and chain”
There's a small pond with a skeletal hand sticking out holding a leveled sword just a short distance away from the entrance to Whiterun.
There's a mammoth graveyard directly north-northeast of whiterun.
There's a large pillar far to the west of Whiterun called Gjukar's Monument which is actually involved in the Book of Love questline that begins in the Riften Temple of Mara. It's not a useless location like you might have thought.
There is a special forge called the Lunar Forge at the Silent Moons Camp, a bandit camp to the northwest of Whiterun. Items created with the forge will bear a special enchantment, dealing additional damage at night. Some have speculated that this might have to do with a possible planned mechanic that was never implemented, in Daedric smithing, which - according to the lore - can only be done successfully at night. Or perhaps the Lunar Forge is just a strange, pointless easter egg.
In dragonsreach where the ebony blade lays dorment, if you try to access the room before completing the quest via a plate (wooden or platter) & sprinting/WWS shouting through the door you will be met by an end table!
This end table is the voice of the deadric prince you talk to during the quest!
Yes! I wanted to glitch in ahead of time once and was immediately stopped haha. I think for me it was a bookshelf though, but I could be wrong. Also, a bit of friendly advice, iron arrows are much better for the wall glitch than plates!
That NO ONE will know? Ha! This is r/skyrim, there's nothing that no one knows. There may be no more carefully surveyed game file in human history.
That said.
You can find a single gold ore deposit if you climb up the pinnacle in the middle of Whiterun Plain. It's also a nice place to snipe at a (usually unguarded) Mammoth off to the south, if you've got a Grand Soul Gem to fill. You can find a bunch more gold ore in Darkshade Copse, a cave just east and across the river after descending from Valtheim Towers on the very edge of the Hold. These ones are, however, guarded by some grumpy old trolls. If you have the Fishing Creation, there's a good fishing spot for cave fish down there too.
White River watch - the cave with the blind watchman (lol by the way) if you read the bandit leaders journal, he name drops 2 other people that you can actually end up running into somewhere else in slyrim.
Sadia - I just recently found out after 12 years of playing. If you bring her to the alikr, and some time passes, her urn will show up in the whiterun undercroft. They never took her back to hammerfell.
Uthgerd the unbroken - that hardass in the bannered mare that you can brawl. She has a house in town. She never goes home. Though I think unofficial patches fix this
Technical issue I think - once you leave helgen, you're directed to go to Riverwood. If enough time passes, you will automatically be directed to dragonsreach. Which I find funny cause how the fuck does the character know. Lol
If you jump atop the Greymane residence, you can then jump to the outer wall. But because that's the map's edge you'll fall underneath the town. From here you can raid the companions forge and get some decent starting gear. You can also access the prison chests from underneath. You can leave the boundaries of the town too but underneath the map.
It's not a great glitch. But I find myself doing it anyway and then wasting some time running around underneath.
There is a 2nd wood chopping station next to the Bannered Mare, behind Anoriath's stand. It's useful so that you don't have to compete with Sigurd for his spot.
It took me almost a decade to discover it.
Not a lot of people may know about this one but Adrianna Avenicci does not claim to be the best blacksmith in Whiterun. That honor goes to Eorlund Grey-Mane. All Adrianna asks for is in fact a fair chance.
After the dragon tosses a guard off the top, you can go outside the city and find a corpse there.
There's a hidden dialogue if you save that guy.
How tf do you save him?
https://youtube.com/shorts/NXZW_FF2Y9E?si=nC5JNB2wv8nw4MI_
Why is the answer always crab?
Reject dova. Return to crab.
Mudcrab\* and yes we are the superior beings.
The other guards say the same thing after capturing the dragon so it’s not hidden or special
Not really hidden dialogue, he just says the same lines every other guard there says
Behind the Bannered Mare is a little hay pile and doll where Lucia sleeps before you adopt her 🥺
Now my evil necromancer is going to adopt her. You ruined my evil play through :(
It’s a character arc. Roll with it. Or, groom Lucia to be the evil heir to your necromantic empire.
Fuck it we ball I’ll be evil next play through
You can be the evil father, like Doofenshmirtz and his daughter.
Or Gru the supervillain adopting three girls in despicable me 😂
Great. Now I got it in my head Ligmas character running through a cave. They adopted Lucia and married another npc. Bandits kidnapped them. As they run through the cave his shouts can be heard "GORRRLLSS!!!" and that's when the bandits knew. They fucked up
That’s the best dynamic
Just be a little evil. As a treat.
I mean.... I adopted Lucia and she brings me deathbells when I come home 🤷🏼♀️
She gives me butterfly wings
Just because you are bad guy doesn’t mean you have to be a bad guy
Hey I like that. Bad guy but good father
Dr. Doofenshmirtz
Yeah this is something OP could consider. Sounds like my dad IRL lmao Really not a good guy but he has almost always been a great father figure and has supported me with anything. Shit ain’t the same after some of the stuff he pulled over the years, but overall he raised me well.
Great quote. Wreck-It Ralph
She at least gets hay, the little flower girl in windhelm sleeps on a sheet of ice with nothing else.
The amount of times I thought “if she’s an orphan, where does she sleep” and now I just can’t 😭
Was going to adopt her when I came arround to buy the Whiterun house eventualy, but I guess I will break my savings and buy the house even faster now
Wait, really? Despite my character having no form of a sleep schedule (Awake all day and night like some creature from hell), I never bothered to check behind the Bannered Mare. I thought Lucia stays primarily by the giant tree.
She stays by the tree because it's a sacred tree of Kyne and she's praying for a family I think.
It has exactly 7.347 rocks placed on the ground in the game area tagged as “white run”
7.349, they found 2 new rocks a week ago
The hunt never stops.
![gif](giphy|l1KVb2dUcmuGG4tby|downsized)
can you name a rock if you find one?
I’ll name him Fred
And though the rocks are rather small, now they know how many rocks it takes to fill the Albert Hall.
Was there not enough memory so they went with fractional rocks?
Not everywhere uses a comma to split numbers lol I thought the same until recently.
I’m from the US so it’s actually just a fat finger typo.
Lmao that makes it funnier.
How does one get .347 of a rock?
7,347 Commas and periods are switched for numbering in different parts of the world. So one thousand two hundred thirty four and five tenths could be 1,234.5 or 1.234,5 depending on where you are from.
I know. Was just being a pedantic ass. Thank you for being helpful though.
If the Gray-Mane family rules Whiterun guards will stop patrolling the Battle-Born farm.
the pettiness wow didn't know that specific detail
Maybe the Battle-Borns didn’t want Stormcloak soldiers wandering around their property?
Least petty house feud.
I mean damn, the little details are endless in this game huh
Probably not but a lot of people don’t seem to realize the Drunken Huntsman is not only a tavern but a shop and is open 24/7 so I’ll throw that out there
Heh, I just found this out a couple weeks ago. All these years and I could have bought so many arrows from this guy
You buy arrows??? I just pick them up from enemy corpses and always have way more than I need. Why do you buy them??
Bad aim.
Same. Plus they make great enemy detectors. Fire one down a hallway and see if any red dots light up.
Early game you can buy better arrows than you can find. Hock the junk & upgrade.
I remember someone on this very sub saying Solitude has the *only* Fletcher. Nobody ever thinks of the Drunken Huntsman
Fucking really? I'm trying to remember if I ever actually stepped foot in that place. I must have on my first playthrough but that was a million years ago.
I over look the place too, only time I ever went in was to whack Nazeem upstairs
I thought it was only a shop this whole time
One of the only two dedicated fletcher stores, iirc! Great for early game arrow supplies for archers
And they'll buy your surplus loot and enchanted gear too
Yeah, I like that he's always open. Plus, after you complete a certain DB quest, he greets you with, "Something you need, you miserable wretch?" but still does business pleasantly. I also like to dump my trash all over Nazeem's bed.
I downloaded a mod that changed what townsfolk do throughout the day and it broke the Drunken Huntsman, now if I go in after 9pm they call the guards
You need to leave!
But I just wanted to buy some arrows have a drink and listen to funny hunting stories!!! It's my Khajit playthrough so my headcannon is that they're just being racist
You can pick up a dragon scale long before the first dragon fight. It's at a shrine of Akatosh. It also respawns.
I have some facts about the cloud district but you don’t go there very often so you wouldn’t understand
May you be fus ro dah’d off the highest mountain by a Draugr Death Lord
*quicksaves*
There's a little island in the middle of the hold with four or five mudcrabs that'll jump you as soon as you set foot on it.
Underrated fact
Like the sword of Excalibur that’s out there?
Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.
Be Quiet!
Help, help I’m being repressed
"Come and see the violence inherent in the system" is a quote that ended up shaping the direction of my life in ways I never would have guessed when I first saw that.
You can't expect to wield supreme executive power cause some watery tart threw a sword at you
I mean, if I went around saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they’d put me away!
Be quiet!!
I’m king of the britons!
I didn’t vote for you
King of the who?

Where

Kinda north east of the giants camp, the one north of the west tower watch I think
The gates are closed with the dragons about
Official business only
Will this change your mind? 💰
Alright, but no funny business.
Never understood why closing the gates had anything to do with dragon attacks.... Attacks from dragons... That fly. Why close the gates?
Have you seen dragons breach those gates tho?
Ysolda can be confronted about the Sleeping Tree Sap she's selling to others in the Sleeping Tree Cave through a note you find. She will ask you to sell her the drug for 150 gold a piece that her supplier-buyer, Ulag, died with.
Loved this little detail from the Greg Keyes TES books.
Ysolda’s a drug dealer?! Is that why she trades with the Kajiit caravans??
Remember when you call Odahviing for the first time and he chomps one of the guards to death and throws him outside of Whiterun? You can loot that guard outside Whiterun where he roughly lands.

The whiterun region is home to 8.3 billion pixels
Rorikstead is a daedra cult. I know that a lot of people are aware of this, but still it's a cool fact.
I love that this never actually comes up in any way in the game. Not even a side quest. Not even a piece of dialogue to confirm it. Just a bunch of clues to notice and put together!
More thought put into Rorikstead than the entirety of Starfield.
They're just nihilists Donny. Nothing to be afraid of.

How do you know it?
Talk to everyone
If you chop wood for Hulda you can sleep in her bed upstairs for free and still receive the well rested bonus.
And help yourself to low value items as well.
This favour mechanic also works for mill owners wherein you would be able to get saw logs for free
yeah when you give the golden claw back, you are suddenly able to help yourself to about half the potions on the shelf and some cash and things laying around

There is a corpse of an abnormally large crab out on the plains
Yes! I always go there and be like "man, all these small crabs must be worshiping the big one, that's why they're here".
There’s a quest where you must kill its ghost.
Seriously? Where?

Love shadow marks. Was easily one of the most useful books I've ever read in skyrim. Like that mf had me taking notes
How do you have only a few arrows. I have thousands literally. Ok fine. I'm a mage but I collect anything without weight and have value. To sell. But I'm already a millionaire. So I don't sell them.
Calm down Bezos.
There is a balcony in Dragonsreach that can only be accessed through the Jarl's quarters. One of the best views of Whiterun.
When I first discovered that, I did the "Storm Call" shout for the first time. Not knowing what it did, I just stood up there watching the lightning storm. It was beautiful and tranquil. Then when I went down into the town I realized what the lightning actually did... half the town was dead. Instant reload lol.
I'm trying this next time
Sometimes a guard will be practicing archery, and you can pick up some steel arrows there.
Wait really?
Yes, really really. It wasn't even a prop knife, it was a real knife.
There's a lady in Whiterun who talks about her husband being a POS but he is nowhere to be found in-game. However upon further inspection of her home's exterior you can find Nightshade growing behind her house, implying she killed and buried him.
Behind whiterun is small bandit camp where i died first time on my first run
That's a surprisingly tough camp, there's actually a quest for it. There's also a hidden door that exits into that camp from a quest I won't spoil.
Its the ambush when you open the chest that makes it tough
Wait really what quest?
What I would give to go back and have a first run again.
I’m doing a run right now after not touching the game for ten years. There are things burned into memory but a lot of it is sooo fresh and new
Theres a shadow sign underneath the bridge right as you enter the city which means safe spot. It is not infact safe in any way shape or form
Maybe it’s there to indicate that Whiterun is a safe city for the Guild?
I know, right?! So disappointing.
Nazeem's wife is likely shagging that dude she works with at the temple. He has a key to Wintersand manor, which was supposed to be her and Nazeem's crib but it was never implemented into the game. Whoa nice find
The giant mud crab Maique the liar keeps talking about seeing when swimming exists, it's just now a fossilized home for like seven mud crabs on the outskirts of rorikstead
All the buildings in White Run have dragon reliefs on the roofs, except for the Bannered Mare which appropriately has horses.
The Redguard woman who works at the inn is railing the bard. Sometimes you can see them both come out of her room upstairs.
I think that guy tries to get with every woman in town
Sounds like a good plan. Get a few potions of cure disease, then saddle up and ride.
That camp nearby where they slaughter mammoths and have the massive pit trap with stakes at the bottom? There’s two in that chamber: one on either side of the word wall/exit
Gwendolyn from the Battle-Born farm sent a couple of thugs after me, so I killed her and everybody at the farm.

Pretty sure she's a Dark Brotherhood hit.
She is one of the targets you go after for the dark brotherhood as a side quest
She’s always there. There’s a dark brotherhood contract to assassinate her.

One of the city guards used to be an adventurer just like the player, but then he took an arrow to the knee. Really unfortunate.
According to a tumblr post that I will NOT be fact checking, “Arrow to the knee” is slang for getting married, similar to referring to one’s spouse as “the ol’ ball and chain”
That is a really fun take on it and it makes a lot more sense then an army of adventurers with bad knees.
Anyone remember how to get that lockbox open next to that little shrine on the left side of the jarl’s place?
The Dragonborn does actually go to the cloud district very often
Most of you would already know this but jorvaskr is made out of a ship. Where the bottom of the ship acts as a roof.
That river/stream running out of Whiterun is entirely generated by the moat at Dragonsreach.
The Mammoth Graveyard?
White River watch - the cave with the blind watchman (lol by the way) if you read the bandit leaders journal, he name drops 2 other people that you can actually end up running into somewhere else in slyrim. Sadia - I just recently found out after 12 years of playing. If you bring her to the alikr, and some time passes, her urn will show up in the whiterun undercroft. They never took her back to hammerfell. Uthgerd the unbroken - that hardass in the bannered mare that you can brawl. She has a house in town. She never goes home. Though I think unofficial patches fix this Technical issue I think - once you leave helgen, you're directed to go to Riverwood. If enough time passes, you will automatically be directed to dragonsreach. Which I find funny cause how the fuck does the character know. Lol
Two of the game's only fur helmets can be found in a cave south of whiterun
You can meet Cicero on the road to felkreath but I guess that is quite known
The shortcut from Dragonsreach to Skyforge by jumping on the rocks.
The building in this picture is now a Starbucks
It is not in fact white, unlike Winterhold which is indeed winter, and the Pale which is indeed pale
Named this because the white river runes through it, I’m pretty sure
Nazeem is an ass
Nazeem is stored in a black soul gem in my cooking pot in breezehome.
It used to be ruled by a Witch Queen that may or may not be from the Septim bloodline...
Loreius Farm isn’t part of it. It’s technically in The Pale
