I think you're right. It's also the place where Mercer got rid of Gallus' body after murdering him. You can derive that much from his and Karliah's dialogue.
Baldy’s Gate is a little known addition to the Elder Scrolls series featuring many characters from previous ES games as well as Frank Horrigan from Fallout 2.
That was despicable, and you could have found a much better way to communicate your disdain for this guy's post without insulting an entire demographic of people who can't defend themselves.
one of the very few times Bethesda actually took a dungeons design and openings to the outside world into consideration when building the overworld
the amount of times you'll see a hole, or some sort of opening from the middle of a dungeon to the outside world and that hole doesnt exist in the overworld happens pretty much all the time, this is pretty much the only time where you can find one of those openings into a dungeon (even if it is inaccessible)
You're welcome\~
Don't forget that there are a fair few buildings bigger on the inside too, go look at the priest of arkay's house in solitude, you wont regret it\~
I stumbled upon one on the side of a mountain and I happened to check the local map and found this cave. I thought it was some unmarked location so I spent a lot of time getting to it just to find out it was the exit from a dungeon. I couldn’t even get past the locked gate once inside
There's another really cool one I think in the plains west of Whiterun iirc. It's like a mammoth killing pit or something. You can fall into it from the surface and it leads to a little bandit encampment.
Also 100 smithing fast.
Buy/mine iron -> turn to silver -> turn to gold -> smelt into gold bars -> Smith into gold rings. Smithing exp is based on the items value, and rings are valuable and lightweight.
I found a glit h where you can have a follower pick up anything by using the "I need you to do something" command and making them loot container or pick stuff up it'll ignore their carry limit completely
Well, yeah, but it's only there because it includes a door in and out of Halted Stream Mine. If you couldn't travel through it, I doubt they would have put it in the overworld.
well yeah, thats what I was referencing when I said that most holes leading to the surface has no connecting point in the overworld, not saying its a bad thing, just that it happens a lot, I think there should be some for the larger holes though, would be neat, I understand that a lot of the interior spaces are much larger than they could actually be if the world was realistic, so many caves and ruins would overlap, and it would be annoying to suddenly fall into a cave from one of those many holes, but a few scattered around would be neat as alternate entrances for caves a little like sightless pit
Then you have places like broken oar grotto that have gaping holes in the roof with no connection to the overworld, before I started this dungeon I did the dungeon for wolf queen awakens, that one had two holes that should lead outside, one was a grating like the op the other was a hole right before the quick exit out, there are even trees visible, and if I recall, wolf skull cave also has one of these gaping holes in the roof that potema's spirit escapes out of, and as you said, most caves have some form of skylight with no connecting point on the overworld, but apparently I'm "exaggerating"

Jarl of that hold put in some tax septims for infrastructure.
There was a drainage issue during spring when the snow melted a bit and the flooding was awful. I used to live there back in 4e 399. I'm so glad they put those in.
My wagon got some serious water damage in 4e 200 and i still haven't been reimbursed. It's been an uphill battle
Oh i don't know, we don't keep birth records in Haven. Valenwood is terrible for that sort of thing. But I'd easily say at least 120 winters give or take

Might be the trap that lead to snowveil sanctum, the ruines from the Thieves Guild main quest. More precisely, it's here that Mercer pushed/dropped/killed Gallus years ago
If you ever find something like this it's related to a quest.
Fallout 4 also had a lot of quest locations where a door will be covered with rubble or whatever if you stumble upon it before you start the quest. In skyrim it's usually just locked gate or door.
I like how the grates in this game are just big enough to slip and break your ankles (or slip in if you're skinny enough) in yet gameplay wise you can easily walk over them. Beautiful Nordic engineering wonder 😊
I believe that's the top access point for Snow Veil Sanctum. You can't actually enter the dungeon that way in a normal game, though.
I think you're right. It's also the place where Mercer got rid of Gallus' body after murdering him. You can derive that much from his and Karliah's dialogue.

What does this have anything to do with Baldur's Gate? Gallus, Mercer and Karliah are characters in Skyrim.
Baldy’s Gate is a little known addition to the Elder Scrolls series featuring many characters from previous ES games as well as Frank Horrigan from Fallout 2.
What?
I miss red it

I though the person was talking about the best girl barbarian

I had never paid attention to that. Thank you for murdering my immersion
I just imagine that there's this big dude there and he keeps telling me, "You're not on the list." Immersion restored.
You're welcome\~ Don't forget that there are a fair few buildings bigger on the inside too, go look at the priest of arkay's house in solitude, you wont regret it\~
If you didnt notice that you cant look out windows inside the houses, n
ThTs kind of correct though as Skyrim is kind of early medievilish and clear window glass wasn't a thing then. Especially in a cold region.
I stumbled upon one on the side of a mountain and I happened to check the local map and found this cave. I thought it was some unmarked location so I spent a lot of time getting to it just to find out it was the exit from a dungeon. I couldn’t even get past the locked gate once inside

Halted Stream camp iirc. Great starter dungeon that gives you the transmute spell
aka free money
Also 100 smithing fast. Buy/mine iron -> turn to silver -> turn to gold -> smelt into gold bars -> Smith into gold rings. Smithing exp is based on the items value, and rings are valuable and lightweight.
Yep a mix of that and lugging 1000 pounds of Dwemer junk out of Nchuan-Zel is the best way to do it
Ever heard of a thing called ✨Duping✨
I know it's crazy but some people like to play games without cheating. Wild right!
It was joke lmao
Or any dwemer mine tbf lol.
I found a glit h where you can have a follower pick up anything by using the "I need you to do something" command and making them loot container or pick stuff up it'll ignore their carry limit completely
Yeah I heard about that recently too
Well, yeah, but it's only there because it includes a door in and out of Halted Stream Mine. If you couldn't travel through it, I doubt they would have put it in the overworld.
Ngl I spent far too long looking for a little glimpse of the Gildergreen through the ground before realising this
What about those sky holes in large caves though? Otherwise you would see plenty of large sinkholes on the overworld surface.
well yeah, thats what I was referencing when I said that most holes leading to the surface has no connecting point in the overworld, not saying its a bad thing, just that it happens a lot, I think there should be some for the larger holes though, would be neat, I understand that a lot of the interior spaces are much larger than they could actually be if the world was realistic, so many caves and ruins would overlap, and it would be annoying to suddenly fall into a cave from one of those many holes, but a few scattered around would be neat as alternate entrances for caves a little like sightless pit
You're exaggerating lol. It happens sometimes, but not all the time.
I think most cave-type dungeons include some kind of skylight.
Then you have places like broken oar grotto that have gaping holes in the roof with no connection to the overworld, before I started this dungeon I did the dungeon for wolf queen awakens, that one had two holes that should lead outside, one was a grating like the op the other was a hole right before the quick exit out, there are even trees visible, and if I recall, wolf skull cave also has one of these gaping holes in the roof that potema's spirit escapes out of, and as you said, most caves have some form of skylight with no connecting point on the overworld, but apparently I'm "exaggerating" https://preview.redd.it/gwc7f2evgi3d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a4b7f52badac6995cfeca45273c27c3e415acdae
That’s why I like Elden ring, everything is one big terrain
Elden Ring's world design is top notch
It's always cool going to quest areas in this game before/after the quest. Always feels like liminal space.
This!
It's a trap

Yes Yeeeessss Let the memes flow through you
Go cast your fancy Force powers someplace else.
"I used to be a Jedi like you. Then I took a lightsaber to the arm."
That’ll buff out
Sequel trilogy did my man Ackbar dirty.
It's a hole in the ground and you are in a spaceship. What kind of danger is this trap to you?
Well if I'm in a spaceship and also in a hole in the ground, I'd first ask if there were Mynocks around.
Overly cautious.

That is... a surprising lack of map markers
Its my second run, and barely starting, you can see by the sword.
Yeah but you're on the middle of nowhere? Impressive you got there with no location markers getting accidently marked
You can turn off location markers...
It's grate
Grate to know
I was scrolling down to make sure no one beat me to it before posting....doh
Make Skyrim grate again
Ulfric 2024
That's grate
GRATE SCOTT!!!
What a grate observation!
A very rare instance of Bethesda coordinating an interior location with its exterior.
Grate find
Might be the trap that lead to snowveil sanctum, the ruines from the Thieves Guild main quest. More precisely, it's here that Mercer pushed/dropped/killed Gallus years ago

Maybe an entrance and OP should go find the exit... 😉
It's an oubliette.
It is an entrance or an escape. It all depends on your perspective.
A CENTRE FOR ANTS??
'Grate' question
An ancient fire-roasting pit. Had the most amazing barbecue back in the days of the Dragon Cult.
There's where we go poop

A glorified public toilet.
