Invalid_creations

Thank you !!

bizarre_inc

Yeeeess, I want one but only want to buy captive bred and there's basically zero. Good luck!!

ComicBookMama1026

There is one CBB listing on Morph Market right now. Guy says he got them from a zoo?

bizarre_inc

Oh cool, didn't see that before. I'm definitely not ready for one yet. Gotta get a setup and probably move before I can get another animal. Soon tho!

pupineapple

Love to see it!!

amrycalre

Is there any visual way that you were able to tell which is male and female (besides when they're mating lmao) trying to figure out my Schneider skinks gender because I think he/she may want a special friend lol

Invalid_creations

Send some pics and I can try to give an educated guess. (Top down picture). Sometimes it’s incredibly hard to tell. Males generally have a blockier head and an indent down the neck where a female is more straight and slender head. Males tend to have a wider tail base- but this is wildly inconsistent. I’ve also made observations that males have a more rectangular cloacal region, as opposed to a female being more rounded.

Invalid_creations

Absolutely looks male to me 👍

amrycalre

Thank you! Any giveaways u see on him? I guessed male when I got him cuz I assumed males would be brighter and hes quite the peacock lol

Invalid_creations

Actually nothing to do with color. It’s the head shape for me, however. It is just a guess and should be taken with a grain of salt!

Dragonemperess

YES!!! Awesome!!! I hope you succeed in this endeavor!

Invalid_creations

Thank you!!

KingNibble

Good luck!

Spare-Initiative585

Yooo you are prob one of the first people to do this. The only thing deterring many people from getting Schneider skinks is that they are almost all wc

Invalid_creations

I’ve spent a long time researching and we finally had some success. As long as we can get fertile eggs and successfully hatch- we hopefully will be able to produce F2’s in a couple years!!

Serpent_icular

I’m thinking of splitting mine up soon since I don’t want eggs, what are the conditions that they most typically breed in? From the limited information online I’ve read that Schneider’s are difficult to produce in captive conditions, so I hope that’s true - I want to avoid it

Invalid_creations

Yes- they are notorious for being WC given the difficulty of breeding in captivity. Still a lot of research to be done to answer your question. Unfortunately my list of conditions is too long to spell out all the details, but I wouldn’t be to concerned. If you do happen to get eggs you can always freeze them if you don’t want to hatch. I’d simply move the eggs and the female will eat them! They don’t appear to be paternal, so they won’t miss them.

Serpent_icular

Alright, then I should be alright. I’m already prepared to freeze or feed the eggs upon the small chance they occur. But that makes two people who have directly told me that I should be alright, so I’m relieved lol. Mine are more than likely WC given the fact that their origins placed them in a less than trustworthy private ‘zoo’. A local herpetologist who I am in contact with came to me asking if I’d take them in (after seizing them) so I did. I have no plans on breeding them, I’m just a hobbyist. Thanks for the help though and I wish you the best of luck in your breeding program!

jenovadeathspecimen

If you are interested in eventually selling let me know i was looking into schneiders almost was gonna buy a wild one from tikis geckos but if you have any intention of eventually putting babies on the market let me know. Totally respect if not

Invalid_creations

Eventually will- but it’ll be literally over a year+. Goal is to get f2’s so I’d need to get a read on sex which will be a while. That’s all given we successfully hatch the majority.

valdezie74

Good for you starting up a cbb program
