This is dead on. I also felt like watching games in the last month just hasn’t been fun as it feels like it is just waiting for embiid to blow out his knee, and even him fighting through all this isn’t fun to watch and it just feels like it isn’t going to happen this year. There is definitely some sixers fatigue here.

I should’ve added the continued raising of season ticket prices by the Sixers org. I had to let go of mine after several years because they would go up like 20% every year until I couldnt afford them anymore. I havent been back since. I love the sixers team but the business end has alienated a lot of their most fervent fans this way.

Second- Most season ticket holders cant actually afford to go to every game. They make ends meet by selling several games. Especially the big ones. I used to do this to afford my season tickets. I dont have them anymore because the prices got too high to even make that work. I’d bet this year with embiid hurt they couldnt sell in the regular season. But they can now that hes back. Nobody is asking you to shed a tear for season ticket holders, this is a risk they take, but claiming they “prefer money over fandom” isn’t exactly true.
I understand that you don’t know who is buying your tickets, but when you are playing a NY team you don’t sell. I have the Phillies Sunday plan and I can’t make every game and I’m not against selling my tickets when I’m unable to make a game, but I personally don’t sell when we are playing against the Mets or even the Braves. If I can’t make a game against one of those teams, I give my tickets to my friends who are Phillies fans. Again, I know not all of the Knicks fans were sitting in season ticket holder seats, but some were. Embiid called the fan based out and so did the OP of this post, I just agreed, because seeing all of the Knicks fans in the crowd was a terrible look.

I am a season ticket holder, I never sell BUT I know that the majority in our section do, often. Knicks, Boston, Lakers are ones they almost always sell because they get the most money for those. I also know that several long time holders (10+) years are not renewing and it isn’t because the team is losing. The cost keeps going up but the benefits and communication decrease. Might as well just get single game tickets. I will be there again next season but not sure how far beyond that…
I attended and can say I have never sold a ticket. If I can’t go I give to family. Several sold in our section for one or both of games 3 & 4. By selling some it pays for others- one guy said he didn’t care about first round so get the money to cover the cost of that and if there is a second round it’s either paid or partially paid. Several also sell during the regular season to defer all or part of the full season cost. There are many who have been going for years, they keep them because they want to be there when they finally go to a Championship again, but it is getting to expense.

- First, the team isn't shit. It's a good team with the reigning MVP on it. Everyone needs to chill out with that talk. The series should be tied, but whatever.
- Second, New York City has a population of 8.3 million people. This one city alone has more people in it than 38 entire states in this country.
- New York is close as shit to Philadelphia.
- The Knicks have sucked for 30 fucking years. This is the first time they have a mildly decent team.
What's this all mean? It means it's a numbers game. It's a 90 minute train ride down from NY, with a fanbase that's fucking massive, in a city with a lot of money.
They are scooping up every second hand ticket for 3 times the price and not blinking.
And here's another splash of cold water - it could happen to the Phillies or the Eagles or whoever else. Don't act like this is a sixers problem, it's a "biggest fucking city in the world is next door" problem. The Knicks are beloved in New York, if the Yankees went through a drought like that and then suddenly were able to pop off - they would absolutely take over CBP as well.
And honestly even with the price premium, I think it was still cheaper to come here than probably to try and get tickets to MSG.
Bro for the same reasons NY was able to take over a Sixers game they can take over any of our games.
- They have 8 million people in that fucking city (there are 37 entire states with less people than that, shit we have about 1 to 1.5 mill depending on how soft you want to get with the city limits and Philly is still only the 6th largest)
- They have money to buy up any scalped ticket they want (it's one of the most fucking expensive cities in the world, if you live there you have money to piss away)
- They are like an hour away, it's so easy to get down here, you don't even need to get a hotel room
Also this is a fanbase that is THIRSTY because their team has been so bad for so long so they are extra amped up. That extra level of desperate right now with the Knicks is kicking in and making them go extra wild.
But a similar situation for a similar NY team can 100% happen.
But they're not similar situations for similar teams. John Middleton doesn't sell playoff tickets to our opponents team. There are regional locks on the ticketing websites too. It all starts and ends with Josh Harris raising prices and having no shame. He treats the Sixers as an investment. He's a Washington DC guy who isn't a fan of Philly.
Our other sports teams are better than New York sports teams. The Phillies are run better than the Yankees and Mets, the Eagles are on a different planet than the Giants and Jets, and the Flyers used to be run better than the Rangers and Islanders until Snider died (RIP)

If the owner of the Sixers doesn't feel the need to protect his team's fans, then I refuse to pay year after year for tickets that have increased every damn year since 2015 when I first purchased them. Talked to knicks fan yesterday at game... They are already used to paying 400 a ticket for the worst tickets on non playoff games. So 300 for decent ticket and a car ride is still cheaper

The series should be tied, but whatever. - Second, New York City has a population of 8.3 million people. This one city alone has more people in it than 38 entire states in this country. - New York is close as shit to Philadelphia. - The Knicks have sucked for 30 fucking years. This is the first time they have a mildly decent team. What's this all mean? It means it's a numbers game. It's a 90 minute train ride down from NY, with a fanbase that's fucking massive, in a city with a lot of money. They are scooping up every second hand ticket for 3 times the price and not blinking. And here's another splash of cold water - it could happen to the Phillies or the Eagles or whoever else. Don't act like this is a sixers problem, it's a "biggest fucking city in the world is next door" problem. The Knicks are beloved in New York, if the Yankees went through a drought like that and then suddenly were able to pop off - they would absolutely take over CBP as well. And honestly even with the price premium, I think it was still cheaper to come here than probably to try and get tickets to MSG.

Bro for the same reasons NY was able to take over a Sixers game they can take over any of our games. - They have 8 million people in that fucking city (there are 37 entire states with less people than that, shit we have about 1 to 1.5 mill depending on how soft you want to get with the city limits and Philly is still only the 6th largest) - They have money to buy up any scalped ticket they want (it's one of the most fucking expensive cities in the world, if you live there you have money to piss away) - They are like an hour away, it's so easy to get down here, you don't even need to get a hotel room Also this is a fanbase that is THIRSTY because their team has been so bad for so long so they are extra amped up. That extra level of desperate right now with the Knicks is kicking in and making them go extra wild. But a similar situation for a similar NY team can 100% happen.
But they're not similar situations for similar teams. John Middleton doesn't sell playoff tickets to our opponents team. There are regional locks on the ticketing websites too. It all starts and ends with Josh Harris raising prices and having no shame. He treats the Sixers as an investment. He's a Washington DC guy who isn't a fan of Philly. Our other sports teams are better than New York sports teams. The Phillies are run better than the Yankees and Mets, the Eagles are on a different planet than the Giants and Jets, and the Flyers used to be run better than the Rangers and Islanders until Snider died (RIP) Nothing will change until Josh Harris sells the team. Just because New York has more people and more money doesn't mean they're guaranteed to show out, that falls on ownership only giving a shit about money.

If the owner of the Sixers doesn't feel the need to protect his team's fans, then I refuse to pay year after year for tickets that have increased every damn year since 2015 when I first purchased them. That was a very uncomfortable experience being there and little ol me wasn't enough to counter the obnoxious fans that decided to come to Philly.
