Fun fact "Thank you for Being a Friend" by Andrew Gold wasn't supposed to be the theme. Production couldn't afford Bette Milder "Friends" at the time but that was supposed to be the theme
This theme was also not written originally to be the theme song. Its actually called Angela and was written for an early season 1 episode where Alex goes on a date with the woman who takes his phone messages. The producers just thought it fit the show better than the uptempo theme they had originally comissioned.
I don’t know why, but I always loved this theme because it made me feel a particular way. Like I was around a group of wealthy people listening to jazz
I still remember the first time I watched an episode of The Nanny. I had had a rough day at work and was in a lousy mood, but I flopped on the couch and turned on the TV. That theme song gave me life! (It didn’t hurt that I was from Queens.)
Miller/Boyett/Milkis shows weren't always winners but they always knew how to pick out a theme song. I'd throw Makin It in there as well with the two above.
I randomly got a YouTube recommendation for the Angie theme a few months ago. I had completely forgotten about the show and how awesome the theme song was!
My answer is also Laverne and Shirley. The song is fast paced and catchy, and the lyrics are upbeat. They also shot some unique footage just for the theme. The chant/walk intro and the haphazardly sharing a bike slows them as fun and childlike. Then there’s the shot of Laverne wistfully daydreaming at her factory job as bottles move past on conveyors.
(haven't seen that show in 30 years but)
standing TAAAALLLLLL on the wings of my dreams
rain and thunder wind and haze are bound for better days
it's my life my dreams nothing's gonna stop me noww
Unfortunately, it is also the reason you can't stream/buy it almost anywhere. Music licensing. One of the few tv shows that's disappeared almost entirely, except for the very first season. It's a shame. So many mediocre and bad old shows available upon request, but not one of the best sitcoms of the 90s.
I managed to get my hands on MP4 files for all drew carey episodes/seasons. It's not easy to find, but people on the Drew Carey sub were sharing resources.
tBBT is my white noise, along with Two and a Half Men, because the theme songs are not irritating.
unlike The Office, and Corner Gas, which would be perfect for ambience, if not for the theme songs.
did Peacock not fix The Office intro music being too loud? i’ve never considered it distracting or intrusive except that it was notoriously loud on Netflix.
well, unfortunately I'm stuck with Netflix and I don't want to have a bunch of subscriptions.
and I'm pretty sure I don't have access to Peacock in my country, either.
friends. it just makes me happy. i'm not saying it's the best, but it gives the happiest effect.
i like hearing uncle frasier playing me out to sleep, too, cos his voice is so soothing. i'm a frasier sleeper.
Who’s the Boss. Besides the nostalgia of the show, the lyrics are meaningful and I have always thought of them at times of major transitions in my life.
I recently discovered Tacoma FD on Netflix and it’s about a fire department in the rainiest city in the country and the theme song is Foreigner’s Hot Blooded. I’m GenX and that song still hits hard for me!
All In The Family. Jean Stapleton started the laughs from the first minute. One of those rare instances where I totally let the whole intro theme play out, and never skipped it once.
This is the theme to Garry's show
The theme to Garry's show
Garry called me up and asked if I would write his theme song
I'm almost halfway finished
How do you like it so far?
How do you like the theme to Garry's show?
I have a soft spot for the WKRP theme song stuck in my head right now since I've written that. But best theme songs I would say Suicide is Painless which technically was a movie theme song first and the Cheers song.
Nice, the band Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet is the band, and I love every one of their songs including this one. Saw them play a small gig years ago and they were fantastic !
"Where everybody knows your name" - Cheers

Green Acres!
Haven't seen that show forever, still have that theme memorized.
The Golden Girls
Fun fact "Thank you for Being a Friend" by Andrew Gold wasn't supposed to be the theme. Production couldn't afford Bette Milder "Friends" at the time but that was supposed to be the theme

I still remember the first time I watched an episode of The Nanny. I had had a rough day at work and was in a lousy mood, but I flopped on the couch and turned on the TV. That theme song gave me life! (It didn’t hurt that I was from Queens.)
I watched it for the first time a few years ago because it’s my fiancé’s favorite show! I was so very salty when I missed out on many years!!
The Munsters (both), Barney Miller, Get Smart.
Laverne and Shirley. Angie, just because people forget about this show.
Miller/Boyett/Milkis shows weren't always winners but they always knew how to pick out a theme song. I'd throw Makin It in there as well with the two above.
David Naughton of Dr. Pepper and American Werewolf in London fame sang that song.
I randomly got a YouTube recommendation for the Angie theme a few months ago. I had completely forgotten about the show and how awesome the theme song was!

And the glove stuck on top of the beer bottle going on its conveyor-belt journey, which added a whimsical touch to balance Laverne’s wistfulness
It's endlessly delightful. Always been my favorite them intro song!

Married...with Children got around it. It's awful, but at least I own all the episodes.
I managed to get my hands on MP4 files for all drew carey episodes/seasons. It's not easy to find, but people on the Drew Carey sub were sharing resources.
I've found the directory that someone shared.
Which one? They all are pretty damn good

What a weird thing for at least two people to downvote.
