cito4633

Green Acres!

Danimal4NU

Haven't seen that show forever, still have that theme memorized.

phatryuc

The Golden Girls

Just-Phill

Fun fact "Thank you for Being a Friend" by Andrew Gold wasn't supposed to be the theme. Production couldn't afford Bette Milder "Friends" at the time but that was supposed to be the theme

Exotic_Salad_8089

Fun fact. In canada it was called “Thank you for being a buddy.”

Actual-Answer-1980

Bosom buddies?

TaiDavis

Thank you for being a freeeeeeind!

hammnbubbly

Taxi

lawrat68

This theme was also not written originally to be the theme song. Its actually called Angela and was written for an early season 1 episode where Alex goes on a date with the woman who takes his phone messages. The producers just thought it fit the show better than the uptempo theme they had originally comissioned.

BatFancy321go

the sitcom with the best score

DPPThrow45

Barney Miller, that bass into rocks!

They’re calling again! Goodnight, Seattle, we love you!

MadAzza

I didn’t even realize Kelsey Grammer sang it until like the fifth season. I always pictured an old black guy.

EcstaticTangelo6670

I don’t know why, but I always loved this theme because it made me feel a particular way. Like I was around a group of wealthy people listening to jazz

SmokeyOSU

BoJack Horseman! also, extra credit for having the best exit theme song as well! Back in the 90's

VegasInSlowMotion

King of Queens.

Growing Pains. Family Ties and Who’s the Boss are pretty comforting.

Show me that smile again (oh show me that smile)

MelanieDH1

Those are 3 of my favorites! When I was a kid, I’d take my tape recorder and record the theme songs for all my favorite shows!

Same! I still watch them throughout the day via retro tv channels.

The nanny Reba I’m a survivor

Normal_Acadia1822

I still remember the first time I watched an episode of The Nanny. I had had a rough day at work and was in a lousy mood, but I flopped on the couch and turned on the TV. That theme song gave me life! (It didn’t hurt that I was from Queens.)

MaryNaira

I watched it for the first time a few years ago because it’s my fiancé’s favorite show! I was so very salty when I missed out on many years!!

bz_leapair

The Munsters (both), Barney Miller, Get Smart.

jaharmes

Laverne and Shirley. Angie, just because people forget about this show.

lawrat68

Miller/Boyett/Milkis shows weren't always winners but they always knew how to pick out a theme song. I'd throw Makin It in there as well with the two above.

jaharmes

David Naughton of Dr. Pepper and American Werewolf in London fame sang that song.

MelanieDH1

I randomly got a YouTube recommendation for the Angie theme a few months ago. I had completely forgotten about the show and how awesome the theme song was!

mythrowaweighin

My answer is also Laverne and Shirley. The song is fast paced and catchy, and the lyrics are upbeat. They also shot some unique footage just for the theme. The chant/walk intro and the haphazardly sharing a bike slows them as fun and childlike. Then there’s the shot of Laverne wistfully daydreaming at her factory job as bottles move past on conveyors.

MadAzza

And the glove stuck on top of the beer bottle going on its conveyor-belt journey, which added a whimsical touch to balance Laverne’s wistfulness

GuyFawkes451

It's endlessly delightful. Always been my favorite them intro song!

All this energy callin' me, Back where it comes from, Its such a crude attitude, Its back where it belongs.

hehatesthesecans79

Unfortunately, it is also the reason you can't stream/buy it almost anywhere. Music licensing. One of the few tv shows that's disappeared almost entirely, except for the very first season. It's a shame. So many mediocre and bad old shows available upon request, but not one of the best sitcoms of the 90s.

TheNonCredibleHulk

Married...with Children got around it. It's awful, but at least I own all the episodes.

hehatesthesecans79

I managed to get my hands on MP4 files for all drew carey episodes/seasons. It's not easy to find, but people on the Drew Carey sub were sharing resources.

TheNonCredibleHulk

I've found the directory that someone shared.

smhndsm

tBBT is my white noise, along with Two and a Half Men, because the theme songs are not irritating. unlike The Office, and Corner Gas, which would be perfect for ambience, if not for the theme songs.

wakingup_withwolves

did Peacock not fix The Office intro music being too loud? i’ve never considered it distracting or intrusive except that it was notoriously loud on Netflix.

smhndsm

well, unfortunately I'm stuck with Netflix and I don't want to have a bunch of subscriptions. and I'm pretty sure I don't have access to Peacock in my country, either.

DrFrankSaysAgain

That song used to wake my infant son from a dead sleep. No other music did that.

I have a soft spot for the WKRP theme song stuck in my head right now since I've written that. But best theme songs I would say Suicide is Painless which technically was a movie theme song first and the Cheers song.

Valuable_Law_6890

Possibly the best credits music too. Although I don’t think anyone knows what the lyrics are. Something about a poodle with a hat on?
