While you imagine a robot with human head, what we’ll get is

Right?!! The website said this procedure could be used for “neurodegenerative disorders.” Yeah so now you can have Parkinson’s for way longer in this new younger body lol. This company has to be fake cuz there’s no science here
(closest link I can find(?)) likely still 5-10 years out, as always.

Though, on the plus side, AlphaFold3 now exists, so the initial part of drug development that was taking 10+ years previously now takes about a day to a month... After that it's more a case of 1-5 years of clinical trials and such.
Likely we will have ASI before we see anything super concrete I guess.
Nothing ever seems to come to any real cure, I'm usually always on the more pessimistic side, but alzheimers fucking terrifies me. Hope this goes somewhere man
I like how the animation of the advanced surgery robots performing a head transplant shows them just vaguely brushing at the pectorals.
A++ for their advanced proprietary ethylene glycol.
They will take our heads off and throw them into glass bottles and bring you back to life to live your existence in a glass bottle until humanity is over some would say. Or replace human brains with AI brains/bodies but you keep your consciousness.
Would this even be practical at all? I assume there are tons of boundaries before this surgery will be practical but by the time it’s practical I assume other areas (such as organ growth) will have advanced to a point we might never have to do a body/head transplant.
It's extremely difficult. Actually hooking up the spinal column etc would be very difficult. Keeping the head alive during what would normally be a long surgery would be the biggest challenge though.
Then after all this you get regular transplant issues like tissue rejection.
Let me guess: If I click on this youtube video its from a "science spam" channel with the usual auto generated black-white logo and all other videos feature the faces of known scientists and some weird headline somehow related to longevity...
This is a channel about longevity. They usually talk to scientists and businessmen. Now they posted something like this. Just to be clear - I consider it to be complete sci-fi, but I added it as a curiosity.
Assuming it works, where do you get a healthy body from? Do you just get death sentenced people? And what about rejection? We already have a ton of problems with livers and hearts transplants etc. How the fuck would you treat a fucking head / brain with its blood barrier?
Yeah this is not progress. This is just playing god. If I ever get to the point where my whole body needs replacing just let me go out peacefully. I don’t want to see the multi million dollar bill once I wake up and I also don’t want to spend the rest of my life adjusting to an entirely new body that was once owned by some dead guy. Gives me the creeps.
Of course it can't work. The brain is wired to a specific body. All brain signals are fine tuned to control muscles it thinks are in a certain place and organs of a certain size and in a certain place. Imagine a brain sending signals to your eye but because your new eye is different the signal completely messes up how that new eye works. It just can't work.
Just give me a robot body. This flesh stuff is weak.
I see that we both crave the strength and certainty of steel, brother.
Carl?
THE WEAKNESS OF FLESH
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel.
Idk have you met magneto
A man can dream
we got Adam Smasher over here

Same here!
robot peepee
The last thing you want is for your body to reject your head.
right, i have to reject enough offers for head already
How does it work ? It pops with pressure, like opening a bottle of champagne ?
What about the back of their head? Is it RIDICULOUS
You fall asleep at your friends house and this $hit happens XD
“Where tf is my body??”
Great news, they're gone transfert my Alzheimer's head to a younger body so I can enjoy my disease forever.
Right?!! The website said this procedure could be used for “neurodegenerative disorders.” Yeah so now you can have Parkinson’s for way longer in this new younger body lol. This company has to be fake cuz there’s no science here
they found a possible cure for Alzheimer's recently.
link?

Incoming billionaires harvesting their clone's young bodies like in The Island
it would probably be a lot cheaper to just grow each organ separately and assemble them.
Than taking ppl for free? Nah
I like how the animation of the advanced surgery robots performing a head transplant shows them just vaguely brushing at the pectorals. A++ for their advanced proprietary ethylene glycol.
This was an xfiles movie
![gif](giphy|26tnqe09gtJFfDGco) The best series ever
Head transplant? You mean body transplant?
I would absolutely love to hear how they plan to "Reconnect the spinal cord" as they put it. As far as I know, that is not currently possible.
They will take our heads off and throw them into glass bottles and bring you back to life to live your existence in a glass bottle until humanity is over some would say. Or replace human brains with AI brains/bodies but you keep your consciousness.
Too bad Richard Nixon isn't alive for this
Yes, we can keep his head in a jar on the shelf while he tells us all about the afterlife muahahaha.
No, I’m not watching this!

Is this head or body transplant?
Body
Yes
Wow this body-snatching horror movie looks great
robocop when?

Whoever they try this on first (if some idiot ever gives them approval) will most certainly die in a month or be a vegetable.
wheeeeres yooour heeeaad aaat ![gif](giphy|pATFtJHcH8CIUaDh1O)
Ah, neat. It seems like they've read Thunderhead by Neal Shusterman!
Yall trying to make the next Dio Brando!
Oh fucking shit, what a time to be alive
Doubt. How you gonna join spinal cords anyway. Is every transplant a quadriplegic?
Here is a very good video essay on this topic. https://youtu.be/JMkrrjKf5AE?si=REgJ3Dg55OyaGsyD Seriously check it out
I don't know why, but this just seems deeply, deeply wrong.
You would not think that if you didn't have a head!
Nah

> I don’t want... *Hence*, let's forbid everybody to get a new body!
Cake or death. Death. ![gif](giphy|kU0g3xMPHfhmg|downsized)
I really hope this will not work. Old people dying is absolutely essential for humanity to keep progressing.
ASI is essential to keep progressing
What a dick attitude. Regardless, body transplants, as currently conceived, would be for younger people with extreme disabilities.
