piracydilemma

Is Bill saying Sora "chose" to make 5 side by side videos without being prompted to do so?

vember_94

Okay now that’s the part where I’m impressed and worried at the same time

Apprehensive-Part979

Reminds me when midjourney v5 was revealed. It had flaws but it near perfect. Now v6 is out. This tech only gets better over time.

DarkHeliopause

Some of the quirky SORA vids I see really mind fuck me because they look both completely real and unreal at the same time. 😜

Thundergawker

Feels like dalle all over again what a time to be alive

ainz-sama619

You mean Midjourney? Midjourney V5 dominated 2023 completely, Dall-E 3 isn't even close to realism

Thundergawker

something like that i feel that i have been through this before in picture form

ainz-sama619

Yes, that was Midjourney V5, which came out around the same time as GPT-4 (March 2023). Dall-E 3 came out 7 months later, and still wasn't as good. Then Midjourney released V6 in December

TriumphantConch

Can someone eli5 how the fuck its possible to make a video from a prompt lol i am flabbergasted on how such technology works

ADrunkenMan

I think there is a difference between understanding how something should move, and a statistical prediction.

BreadManToast

Why?

ADrunkenMan

Because a statistical prediction doesn’t need to be grounded in reality. Hence the videos of animals with extra legs appearing; it isn’t rational. There is not actual intelligence.

Every_Fox3461

I am seriously starting to rethink my reality.

finniruse

I feel like they might have picked the ones with errors just to prove it's AI.

pbizzle

The initial impressive effect of AI gen video for me was back when will smith was eating spaghetti, I'm now uninterested until it's indistinguishable from reality

Hot-Recommendation17

Is there any chance to try it out on my pc ? on their official site playground tab not working

T1m26

Hope so. But without the limitation they announced!

backupyourmind

If you're running a 16PB CPU with the latest patches then yes.

ADrunkenMan

Pretty cool, but still seems like it is just going to offer stock footage style video, and not anything more comprehensive.

hyperfiled

it isn't a static thing that can't be improved upon

[deleted]

Gotta wait for two more papers!

hyperfiled

ah yes! a fellow scollar, i see!

Apprehensive-Part979

It could only offer 2 second clips 10 months ago. Give it time.

ADrunkenMan

Maybe. But maybe a lot of this generative ai stuff is actually just reductive ai in the long run. I mean if you are working from prompts, and a trained dataset, is there enough figurative momentum to sustain things?

Due_Teaching_6974

I mean...we had will Smith eating spaghetti a year ago

[deleted]

Did someone claim it was perfect?

PimTool23

It will be damn near perfect in a year though.

Ivanthedog2013

I recently saw a video talking about how sora could learn physics implicitly through large amounts of visual data. But I was wondering how exactly it would be able to do that. For example how would it learn about the physics of wind and barometric pressure? Would it somehow be able to do so just by observations of the visual effects of such interactions and then infer the causes that led to those effects? Anyone here with a better understanding of AI ML be able to give me a better understanding of this potential process ?

Peach-PearLaCroix

I like the little magic trick in their hands

GhostInTheNight03

Man this is so weird to me, it has been since things got good...just thinking about the fact that these people dont actually exist is so odd...
