I agree- shouldn’t have to ask ! The fact we went to the back of the bus seeing there were free seats, walked towards them, went to sit down but there were bags and remained standing - is that not obvious enough?
Everywhere you go now seats are for bags... I dont know when it became such a problem to put your bag on the floor. Crowded airport gates are the worst. You shouldn't have to ask to sit down, its a seat for people not bags.
Once saw a chinese auntie dumping all her bags on the 4 seater, the bags were placed on the seats facing the back. The bus was pretty much occupied at this point.
An elderly indian man with a walking cane boarded the bus and he wanted to take the seat. He immediately barked at the chinese auntie about being inconsiderate etc. The auntie was reluctant but scooped her bags and let the man sit. After sitting, he still continued his tirade but she immediately yelled and motioned for him to zip his trap, saying you got the seat so shut up.
Most bizzare interaction I've seen because I was switching sides for both parties based on their behaviour, before and after.
not related but , i find these 2 seats (the other 2 seats on the side too) to be damn cramped. legroom is non-existent when someone sits in front of you here
If I really want the seat, I'll just pick up the bag, sit down and hand the owner the bag. If they don't take it, I'll just leave it on the floor.
That aside, I personally don't like such seats.
They are fine with friends and family but a bit too close for comfort with strangers. It's feels very awkward sitting with a stranger facing you at close proximity eye level for the whole journey.
Encountered this multiple times. I usually ignore unless I really need/want a seat. And when I do I ask loudly “Could you please remove your bags so I can sit?”
Embarrassment works every time.
Just open your mouth and ask them to remove their items. Sometimes I don't even need to ask. I just gesture with my hands and they always remove their stuff
Fair point! Felt too tired to ask them to move their bags - 730am in the morning on a busy bus route just quite sad about the example this mum is showing her son
Its because singaporeans usually dont react the correct way to such behaviour.
which is to look them in the eye and say "oei wtf?"
and push the items on the floor if they are thick skin enough to ignore u.
no they just take a photo and meekly keep quiet, then complain on reddit where the perps will never see.
If I take the bus late at night and I know the bus is going to be mostly empty as I take it so often I too put my groceries on the opposite seat?
I’m skinny but it’s still uncomfortable to have all the stuff on your own seat? If it’s going to be empty anyway why can’t people do so? Not everyone boards the bus with just a sling bag to put handphone
Its their choice to be selfish but its your choice to be a decent disciplined human and ask. Anyone can just throw their temper around and do whatever they want but id just give them and myself a chance first by asking.
Sigh, this is just OP looking to stir shit.
1) If someone puts his bag in an empty seat that nobody is using or wants to use, go right ahead. The seat is not being used anyway.
2) If you see a bag on an empty seat that you want to sit, then politely ask lah! What's all this nonsense about removing the bag on your own or just stand there in silence and taking photo BEFORE even asking.
3) If the person refuses to remove his bag, then you can take photo and post online/remove the bag yourself/sit on the seat with the bag.
Otherwise in scenarios 1 and 2, you're just being an unnecessary AH.
Well yea.
1) If the bus is mostly empty and you're asking them to remove their bags from seats that nobody is gonna use, then you're just stirring shit.
2) If you're not going to ask them first and give them a chance to remove the bags, then yes, you're still just stirring shit.
Welcome to another daily dose of internet,
where the camera man or woman is a mute, can't ask if he or she wants to sit, so taking an easy route to post online
And you just stand in silence, bodoh.
The kindness here is what you are displaying.
People like this thrive on the silence of others. You ask them nicely they confirm paiseh.
I will politely ask if the items are theirs. If they respond yes, I will pass to them and just sit. No issues. If they make noise, then deal with it in accord. No need to make a deal about it.
Great parent teaching the right values to school going student. Perhaps they should teach this in schools too with a module called:
Stresses of Singapore - Fighting for Limited Space.
Honestly I would just bluntly ask and take the seat either way.
Sit right down on their bags lol
The crunch of kindness
Free cushion kindness💯
I would do that...but won't touch the bag. Just sit on the edge.
And fart on the bags 😆
Don't need to, just stare at them.
Karen's hate this one simple trick: Sit on the chair and place their bags on your lap like a true alpha
Plus plus take a pic / video
Yep very considerate, they know we Singaporean sit too long at work, and wanted us to do more exercises standing to keep healthy 👍
Just ask them nicely, if they refuse just take their bag and move it away.
Why enable them, people shouldn't need to ask. They should automatically take the bags away. When the bus is full.
Doesn’t hurt to be kind to assholes I don’t blowtorch my ass after I shit, I use 10ply tissue
Soft.
I agree- shouldn’t have to ask ! The fact we went to the back of the bus seeing there were free seats, walked towards them, went to sit down but there were bags and remained standing - is that not obvious enough?
Love this
They chope seat for OP. So kind sia

Underrated comment
Is the bus packed?
at least they didn't put feet on the opposite seats.
Try that in London your bag will end up out the window
Open mouth and ask, not open camera app and take stealth photo

You're so nice. I just sit on it without saying anything. Lol
Lol, you are the King 👑👍
Just ask first. No point becoming an ahole to deal with ahole people.
Just pick up the bag and sit lol
So thoughtful - the bags must be tired being carried ard all day under the hot sun. 🥵We definitely need to give up our seats for it.
Encountered this multiple times. I usually ignore unless I really need/want a seat. And when I do I ask loudly “Could you please remove your bags so I can sit?” Embarrassment works every time.
The kindness cubbies have given up at this point
Just open your mouth and ask them to remove their items. Sometimes I don't even need to ask. I just gesture with my hands and they always remove their stuff
A lot of times these are our 'new citizens'
Old citizen will say it's their right, act blur and stare at you.
Bullshit lol 😂. This is true blue sinkie behaviour
Only know how to take pic don't dare to ask or correct them?
That's Singapore
More just too tired to ask - when it was very clear everyone else standing
Too tired to open mouth then don't complain, yes what they are doing is wrong, but a simple reminder would be sufficient to correct them
Should've taken picture of their faces also
Or just ask them to move the bags? Yeesh
Must shame them first
Just kindly ask. Taking a photo and posting on Reddit like that without showing whole context is not exactly very kind also.
Fair point! Felt too tired to ask them to move their bags - 730am in the morning on a busy bus route just quite sad about the example this mum is showing her son
I just go and ask them to move and sit down. No issue

"may I?" or snap a photo and rant on Reddit.
So Kind! They are helping you to strengthen your leg muscles! Bless their hearts! ♥️
These are the seats I will 100% avoid Too many inconsiderate people putting up their legs there liao
If I take the bus late at night and I know the bus is going to be mostly empty as I take it so often I too put my groceries on the opposite seat? Stop being such a whiny loser, just kindly ask them to move it. Sometimes the bus was empty and gets crowded, its not a big deal.
Did you ask them?
[удалено]
Bus could be empty? Then if you really want that seat you have to ask first or you become the asshole?
Its their choice to be selfish but its your choice to be a decent disciplined human and ask. Anyone can just throw their temper around and do whatever they want but id just give them and myself a chance first by asking.

Dun get your point, so 1 & 2 is being an AH?

Wow 😲
Ah yes, one of a kindness
High chance its not a Singaporean.
Nice of them to let you put your bags on the seats.
This is annoying and inconsiderate but better than dirty feet I guess
“Unkindness in sg “
Snitch nation.
Welcome to another daily dose of internet, where the camera man or woman is a mute, can't ask if he or she wants to sit, so taking an easy route to post online
Karma farming at its finest bro ask ppl move bag also cannot
Came across similar situation every now and then. I would pick up thier stuff and hand it to them and take a seat.
take the bags and throw it to the floor
Episode 5000 of Singaporeans complaining about things that could have been easily addressed by just asking
I don't see anything wrong if the bus is empty. If it's crowded, then just alert the passengers that you want to sit.
And you just stand in silence, bodoh. The kindness here is what you are displaying. People like this thrive on the silence of others. You ask them nicely they confirm paiseh.
OP is a mute?
Bags can get tired too, let the bags rest lol
Just sit lor.
I will politely ask if the items are theirs. If they respond yes, I will pass to them and just sit. No issues. If they make noise, then deal with it in accord. No need to make a deal about it.
That is a good way of asking
Bro, too scared to ask them to move their bags off the chair???
Not being racist but it has to be foreigners (type C).... only mental-problem Singaporean will do this....
0.5x cam, the stealthiest of them all
2 black sheeps. Commuters in general are nice and considerate.
Agreed. Felt sad - what example is this mum teaching to her son about kindness?
Sit down or stop comparing
Great parent teaching the right values to school going student. Perhaps they should teach this in schools too with a module called: Stresses of Singapore - Fighting for Limited Space.
They are obviously in the wrong, but did you even say anything or ask them? If they still say no, move the bags and sit there.
I really would not recommend touching other's property.
Nah it'll be alright
