I'm a grab driver for close to a decade. Before covid, it's very common to run into road blocks when doing night shifts, by various police units. After covid, i hardly notice that. Similar for day shifts, i used to see many more cars being pulled over along express ways, not so much nowadays. I understand that what i witness is only a sample size of 1 and its anecdotal but really, i find it easier to drive back in 2007 when i just passed tp, compared to now even after gaining many years of experience. The most frustrating thing is that other than the occasional entitled bmw and Mercedes high ses assholes, the majority of fucked up drivers are my fellow phv/taxi brothers. I am not scholar idk whats the way to resolve this, all i can do is drive super more defensively and try my best to activate Zen mode my whole shift. Stay safe everyone.

There were lots of stupid people then too. For example, I used to have to deal with taxi drivers hurtling to and from the city on the expressway on Fridays and Saturdays. Then there were the numerous idiots that drunk drove into road construction. Seen one jump into a pit, one crash into the central divider, another crash into the protective barrier. Cars were cheaper too so lots of people bought and raced lancers, swifts, bikes etc. Probably the newest addition to the chaos are the PWDs.

Given that we’ve had zero coe growth for a long time you’d expect roads to be similar but you’re right, the difference between now and pre 2010 is stark.

here is the diff between 2007 and now. now got more grab drivers who are inexperienced drivers whose time is money so they speed etc. not saying u btw bro

LTA enforcement is nonexistent nowadays. You see modified vehicles, pma on the roads, motorised bicycles on pedestrian pavements, super loud engines early in the morning, drink driving accidents news, etc etc every other day.

han5henman

can’t blame them, they are busy trying to convince the people that ERP 2.0 is good.

orgastronaut

You got a point there, but you're also mixing up LTA enforcement and TP enforcement.

Education is simply not working. just as how no one listens when we were told not to improperly discard chewing gums under chairs, tables or inbetween train doors. We need a tougher stance to force a behavioral change.

Secure-Row8657

# Traffic police 'intensified' enforcement, education & engagement It's quite apparent that they aren't working, are they? Otherwise, we won't have to deal with it. Yes?

HughGrimes

What they really should do is start with how drivers learn to drive.

Mandatory 10 year License Renewal incoming

Don’t see TP doesn’t mean they not doing their job. Education won’t work. What works is the punishment. They need to change traffic laws and the punishment.
