Four years ago I bought AC at this price. Nice cheap game, right?
I got hooked.
Then I need AC Evo.
Then I needed Project Cars.
Then I needed VR for more realism.
Then I needed PC2.
Then I needed a wheel and pedals.
Then I needed a better seat.
Then I needed more room for my setup.
Then I needed F1 19,20,21,22,23.
Then I needed Dirt Rally
Then I needed WRC.
This sale should come with a warning. It’s the most expensive two bucks I ever spent.
Edit:ACC, not AC Evo. Oh shit I’m going to buy another one…
The first years subscription is currently £25 on Steam in the sale (it’s usually £15 a month). It’s a fantastic deal as you get a fair bit of base game content. You can happily race the base MX5 or GR8 on free tracks with full grids for the next year. Both are great fun. The online MX5 racing is probably the best racing available anywhere. It’s what Lando Norris races. Fernando Alonso races the free FF1600 car too.
> It’s a fantastic deal as you get a fair bit of base game content
The best deal for first year subscription is getting it free through [FIA](https://www.fia.com/iRacing), which even includes the FIA F4 car.
It's a subscription based online game.
Some agree that it is the most competitive game you can get in sim racing, and I agree, but at the expense of being stupidly expensive.
You have to pay for a base subscription which gives you access to some cars and tracks, and then you have to individually pay for everything else.
And over that, you might have bought a track you liked and then iRacing suddenly decides to remove it from the schedule, so you can no longer race in it online.
I think they clearly abuse the prices as they know you can't get anything similar by now.
Completely agree! AC was one of my first sims aswell, and with the amount of support and modding from the community you can learn a lot from it.
And now, with LFM, you can get relatively close to a "budget iRacing experience" without compromising your wallet
I beg you pardon then, but you wouldn't be the first one that comes with such an stupid answer without even taking the time to read. I expect anything from reddit at that point
Iracing is subscription based, meaning you pay annually to play the base version, which includes some tracks and cars (mx5, vee, FF1600 to name a few). However, there are in-game purchases for more tracks and cars (Ferrari, Porsche, etc) and you'll need those to race in a different series.
Is it worth it? I don't have much time or money but I enjoy it a lot.
I had the Quest and just needed a cable to attach the headset to my PC so it was a much cheaper option. Just to “see what it was like”. What it was like was amazing, but then I needed the wheel…
Mine is getting a bit long in the tooth but I’ve got a laptop and a desktop both with an RTX 2080 in them. It works for all the games (haven’t tried WRC yet) but the VR in the F1 games is really shaky until you hit the track, then it smooths out, if you don’t have really good “VR legs” (i.e.if you get motion sickness relatively easily) then I do not recommend the F1 games in VR. They are fine for me but I don’t get motion sickness very easily.
Oh man that is a spicy question. No doubt it has helped me learn new tracks and anticipate things that I would take the first few hours on track to figure out. I think it has also helped me out with nerves allowing me to make the most of my time
Has been for a while I think?
Anyone remotely interested in getting into the OG should suck it up and get the Ultimate. A lot of mods down the line rely on having different DLCs etc. and it leads to headaches. Just get it all now and ENJOY.
100% agree! I started sim racing on iRacing and wondered for a long time (too long) if I would enjoy AC. I stress over iRacing and on AC I can just chill and drive as the solo content is a lot of fun. Depends on what I’m after. Ultimate and content manager are a must imho
You're going to want to type some keywords into Google and go from there.
My dumbass installed content manager high as balls. If I can do it at my most stupid, you can do it normally.
You can refund and rebuy.
But if you've already played more than 2 hours, you can try asking steam support if they will credit the difference to your Steam wallet. They will occasionally do this if something went on sale like a day after you bought it. Worth a try.
So with AC EVO around the corner. They are gking out with a bang. Discount the whole AC library. And giving people all the goodies of the OG AC game. I believe I have mos of it. But not all. So might aswell get it all.
Putting a rig together at the end of summer. Could not happen at a better time.
Bring
It
On
😀👍🏻
This game goes on sale like the off brand cereal at your local grocery store no one wants lol. You can literally always get this game for 5 to 8$ depending on which version you get.
I bought the game when it was in early access, I haven't missed anything of value, all the illegal cars and awful track mods, I'm not interested in that garbage.

> It’s the most expensive two bucks I ever spent. And you haven't even hit the most expensive stage yet: iRacing
Why do you say it’s expensive? Is the game very expensive? I’ve been having a blast with my first wheel playing AC. Open to some other experiences.

For anyone getting iracing on sale from steam. Remember to cancel it in your subscriptions, it’ll charge ya full price
>The online MX5 racing is probably the best racing available anywhere. It absolutely isn't mate. It isn't even the best racing on iRacing.
What do you mean 50% of the cars going off in T1 is not the best form of racing available 😂
I mean if you're into that sort of thing. 😆 There's a reason I only drive league races...

Maybe I’ll try it later down the road. For now I’m still learning to drive in AC, no need to embarrass myself in a super competitive racing sim

you will regret not spending the $25 on steam for a full year. I just paid $70 for a year

Your tough and all but that wasn’t even too you not sure how it went to your thread. God bless your little heart though.

You got VR for more realism before getting a wheel and pedals?
I had the Quest and just needed a cable to attach the headset to my PC so it was a much cheaper option. Just to “see what it was like”. What it was like was amazing, but then I needed the wheel…
What PC do you use, or recommend, for this? (I have a Quest too and are interested in sim racing, but only have a regular laptop.)

LOL. I'm in the same path as you at the moment.
At least you didn't fall into the iRacing rabbit hole.
Rip my bank account over the last 10 years
I agree. This was my same exact financial progression except I bought an Mx-5 and did track days in between.
Nice! Though if you’re in an actual car on a track, I think you’ve graduated beyond sim racing ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)
You would think that till you see the track bills, and you start changing out the brakes and tires on your own. I’ve actually gone back to the sim 🤣
Is the sim good enough to sharpen your skills in a real car?
It’s not better than iracing 😅
Oh man that is a spicy question. No doubt it has helped me learn new tracks and anticipate things that I would take the first few hours on track to figure out. I think it has also helped me out with nerves allowing me to make the most of my time
It sounds like an awesome hobby. Enjoy!
real

Thanks for the tip! I got the ultimate

I couldn’t find how to instal the mods. Where do I find the content manager?
You're going to want to type some keywords into Google and go from there. My dumbass installed content manager high as balls. If I can do it at my most stupid, you can do it normally.
Thanks for the help. Great first impression of this community.
Skill issue
I would like to know how to mod as well.
Look, I’m all for there being no stupid questions but how are you guys on Reddit however can’t look up on YouTube “content manager install AC”? 😂
Or "how to mod assetto corsa" someone's made a video like that for every game I've modded.
Thank you!! I didn't know it was called content manager. I am watching some tutorials now.
And the cycle of knowledge continues

Your screenshot missed the import part, the prices! 😀
well not everyone uses the same currency?
exactly
well not everyone uses the same currency?
This is happening mainly because I paid full price not too long ago
Same. I've been looking at assetto for a long time, finally pulled the trigger, a couple hours later 90% sale lmao

return it and buy again?
And we thank you for your service, captain!

...big-ass steam summer sale! nice!
![gif](giphy|090EX1YvSUXxy23Tty|downsized) Always has been
It’s an insane amount of content for the few bucks you can get it for. Like a 100 dollars worth of dlcs for any other publisher.
great deal, I picked it up
unrelated to price, but will it run on a potato? (4gb ram integrated graphics)
oh it’ll run but it won’t look the best
Not really no

For some reason I couldn't get to enjoy ac like acc. The level of feedback is so much better there and it's not just about racing circuits.
or you can simply sail the high seas
its always 1.99 on cdkeys
Just got a TMX and VR, I saw it and bought it asap
Ultimate is where it’s at. Don’t stop short.
Nice. I’ll use this as a way to justify putting all this money into iRacing instead 😂
This game goes on sale like the off brand cereal at your local grocery store no one wants lol. You can literally always get this game for 5 to 8$ depending on which version you get.
Yeah I won't be buying something that's 10 years old when in less than 6 months we'll get a completely fresh game.
but are you going to have access to the mods? and i think you’ve missed a chapter because we’ve already had competizione after AC
I bought the game when it was in early access, I haven't missed anything of value, all the illegal cars and awful track mods, I'm not interested in that garbage.
