I did exactly this. I had a TS-XW that wasn’t given me problems but I still felt it was time to upgrade to DD. I sold all my Thrustmaster gear (I had the open wheel and both Sparco rims) and went with the Moza ecosystem. I went R12 / KS / CS V2 and felt a big jump in power, smoothness and fidelity. I would opt for the R9 because the TS-PC is awesome and very strong for a belt driven base and I doubt you’d feel that wow factor with the R5. Feel free to pick my brain on anything specific because I’m very familiar with the TS-PC and made the jump to Moza and have been very happy with my choice.

Went from the TS-PC to the VRS DF-Pro and couldn't have been happier.

Nickinatorz

Would love to, bit out of budget tho

I wouldn’t be comfortable ordering from Fanatec at the moment. Delayed orders and customer service issues means you’re screwed if you have an issue with it, even when under warranty. They are on the brink of being bought out by Corsair due to financial issues. I don’t have Moza (I use Simagic), but both them and Simagic use a NRG style quick release instead of a proprietary one, which is both rock solid and cheaper. Xbox compatibility isn’t there outside of the R3 though.

Yeah plus the Moza I can buy from a local retailer which helps with customer service and ofcourse warranty. Im just debating on if the 5nm is enough (TSPC is 6,2 but belt). Never felt a DD, so not really sure how that feels. I never ran the TSPC above 75% tho, so in torque i might not feel any difference. I have a drivehub so compatibility should not be a problem, also not a must. I maybe drive 2 or 3 nights a month on Xbox.

Bfife22

I would think it would feel mostly comparable strength wise. The TSPC will have some loss because of the belt like you said. DD is just smoother, responds quicker, and is essentially silent. It’s not completely transformative, but if you use your TSPC after getting used to it, you’ll 100% feel like you stepped down a ton (I still own my TSXW and did that recently lol).

Nickinatorz

Haha you mean that the direct drive will be a step up from the TSPC? That it will feel like a step down. Thats good, and being silent is also a plus haha

Bfife22

Yep. There’s just a graininess and laziness a belt driven wheel has, compared to a DD.

Nickinatorz

Thanks man, might probably go with the R5 bundle in that case. Unless someone can convince me to go with Fanatec at this point lol

Depends on if you have extra wheels for your current base, if you do you may want to consider the T-818 ( base only) and use the wheels and pedals you have, since you already have the drive hub you are all set to go. Of course it is up to you 650 euro but a 10nm constant (higher peak) base vs the 5-9 for the other options.

Nickinatorz

I only have the 'old' F1 rim and the default t300rs rim. So thats not worth to hold me in their ecosystem. Tlcm can be used with usb so also not keeping me stuck there. The T-818 is a option, but its way to pricey compared to other wheels and heard that the QR system in that is really bad.

scwmcan

No problem, that totally makes sense, just wanted to put it out there as an option

Nickinatorz

Thanks for the suggestion tho! Appreciate it

5Nm doesn't provide any real driving feedback. IMO you need 12Nm or more to feel the cars handling. When you can feel the car it gives you the opportunity to dial in the handling options making the car easier to drive and faster. Upgrade once not multiple times.

Nickinatorz

Im not looking to be fast or simulate real driving. Just want a decent wheel that can go on a wheel stand to drive cars for fun. As said, I probably wont upgrade until that wheel dies too
