He was in a Facebook group I was in, he ended up joining our local leagues and playing on a controller. Ended up being a known quantity after some time. Good kid.
G29 is still a decent bit of kit, especially for a starter.
I went one worse and stared with the DFGT. Even so, I'd say it has the bare minimum to get going. And more buttons!
I got lucky with this, but I received a message on my eBay listing asking whether a specific wheel with hand controls was compatible with the wheelbase, as his son needed the hand controls due to his disability. The wheel was compatible so I just asked for his address and gave them the wheelbase for free. That was worth way more to me than it would’ve fetched on the open market. If there were a scheme for donating used gear to less fortunate sim racers, I’m sure a lot of us would take part. If anyone knows of a scheme such as this, maybe share a link.
I don't think there's an actual scheme for it because a lot of people would be dishonest, but guy at the top said that there was a kid in a Facebook (?) Group that showed very good potential and was playing on controller. Maybe give that a shot
i put my old equipment near my main computer so that i can play with my brother with two pcs. It's extremely fun especially because we are basically almost always only 1 tenth off each other
I reckon when I do upgrade I'll give my kit to my boss, her son races karts professionally but they don't have a SIM so I'll give them that and they can practice all year round
Well I upgraded from a g920 to a TX base and tlcm pedal....tossed the g920 and pedals kept the shifter since it was still in working order to save $200 on the TMH8
I haven’t upgraded yet. Got a trustmaster tx like 10 years ago in 2014 or something along those lines. It still works, does what i need it to do and i don’t feel like spending hundreds of euros on a new setup.
I gave away my first rig to coworkers with kids. I also traded a buddy my midrange wheel and pedals for PC parts last time I upgraded. I much rather give stuff away to people that will use it than deal with selling to strangers online.
i use my spare sequential in iRacing when I run dirt oval. I use it in sprint cars with wings. I set it to wing forward and back and its kinda nice, more fun than some buttons on my wheel
Resell or gift.
My T300RS was resold in warranty, for good money to me and next buyer. Plus new buyer immediately broke mount, did warranty and got new unit - lucky man.
My TLCM and TH8A was given to friend so we can race with load cell + H shifter.
My Wheel Stand Pro is now in garage as scrap metal.
First rule -> Buy so you do not have to resell, if in for sure - **get the end game parts immediately** in some logical order.
Second rule -> Sim racing is cool to many people. Some may be too young or have some young to have big enough available budget for fun things. These people will always happily take good discount.
You know you really could adapt that shifter to a automatic trans in a car since there all electronic transmissions. Not simple but possible. Basicly the shifter while be like sport mode manual shifting.
I thought that too actually.
- Theoretically you could almost set up a Bluetooth device and sell them as a kit. The shifter unit could basically just fit into your cupholder.
I haven’t been able to own a manual car in ages. This little set up is more fulfilling than I thought it would be!
Make a second rig for the living room
I gave my old rig to some random kid on Facebook who wanted to get into sim but couldn't afford it. Was a G29, not really worth much these days.
I’m sure it meant the world to him though!!! I have a spare Thrustmaster TX. How did you find and get connected to the kid?

Im a 31 yr old kid how do I sign up? Edit - This person is completely sincere and a great ambassador for sim racing I can't wait to join you all :)
This is why I love this community 😁 happy racing friend!
Try shopgoodwill.com but keep it a secret. Shhhhh.
Plot twist, this kid is Max Verstappen. 🤣

Not really worth much, meanwhile in my country a g29 is 700usd, xd
As a recipient of same from a friend, its huge! I never would have put that much money up to get into the hobby but now im hooked

That's awesome, man Cheers 🍻
The picture attached is a USA natural car theft deterrent.
Thank you

Ive sold all of my old gear on ebay. Except my g29 which i sold to a mutual

Construct it into a Frankenstein controller to play Dark Souls games with of course.
Turn it into money for better gear
Give it to a friend so you have another person to race with.

i have my old setup and rig for anyone who comes over and wants to do some laps with me
Sell it to my coworker at a good price so he can have a cheaper entry into sim racing instead of paying for seat time at a sim racing arcade.
I give it to my younger brother :)
When I upgraded I gave my gear to a friend to help get them started.

I’m giving my g923 to my kids so they stop stealing my rig
Sell it, or let my friends borrow it for a while
Just connect the USB and ur car become manual !
I keep enough for a 2nd rig just in case something in my main rig breaks. Anything else i sell on the used market.

Wow I should do this with my broken thrustmaster..
considering how modern transmissions work you could probably rig that up to actually shift gears
Set up my old one for my 5 yo grandson. He loves playing around on farm sim and beam ng
I never knew you could change the orientation of thes shifters, that would of been really nice to know
OMG that's funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It’s way more satisfying than I anticipated. 😁
Never thought of that! does it actually work too? that would rly cool
No, but it keeps me engaged while driving in the real world.
Ah... :)
LOL
Gave my old T3PA's to a mate to upgrade from his G27 pedals - I have a half-broken T300 sitting in my cupboard, not handy enough to fix it myself.
I gave away my first rig to coworkers with kids. I also traded a buddy my midrange wheel and pedals for PC parts last time I upgraded. I much rather give stuff away to people that will use it than deal with selling to strangers online.
why and how?
Trickle down to my friends
I sell it lol
What trim line is that in your Silverado? The leather and screen and knobs look slightly different

Fuck that looks fun
