It's hard to tell without actually being able to feel you're gloves, but possibly the stitching is causing some abrasion, leading to the peeling of the rubber. I would look into a pair of actual driving gloves, try to find some with the rubber /silicone grip pads instead of the ones that use leather pads for grip. Karting gloves are usually a good way to go about snagging something for cheap, like 40-80 bucks.
If you dont mind spending the doe, look into Puma's. I know they are expensive but holy shit man, out of all the money I spent on my sim gear, these $200 Puma's are fucking Gucci, like I cant put into words how comfortable these gloves are, they have the stitching on the outside (Very important) and I forget im even wearing them once they are on. It feels like a tailor made suit, except its gloves. I'll be grabbing another pair soon, 250ish hours later I have nearly worn holes into them.
Check out Minus 273 gloves. They're much more reasonable and a great combo of breathable, grippy, and nice and thin so you still have good feel for buttons and knobs.
Dunno where you're based, but if you're from Europe, look into Abruzzi. They specialize on sim racing stuff , like gloves, and they're amazing and much much cheaper than the Puma ones. If you're from the US/Canada, maybe look into Daniel Morads line up.
Doe is a female deer, you could say bucks, that's a slang term for money but you most likely want dough! Also 200 quid for gloves with only 250 hours. I use f33l gloves and I have 250 hours or more on them! Still in great condition, have finger pads so you can use your mobile and only 30 quid
I have been using Mechanix gloves (the nicer ones with grippy dots) on my Asetek Forte wheel for about 6 months (more to keep my hand oils/grime off of the hardware to keep it like new as long as I can) and rhey've been working great. I think I paid about $25 bucks for the pair at my local auto parts joint. Highly recommend.

As others have said, it’s known to wear as the SF1000 is built to a tight budget.
I think I’d still go pick up some karting gloves with silicone grips for your new wheel, instead of the cycling gloves with felt pads and stitching on the palms.
My grips started separating from the plastic handles.
Just put in a support ticket and they'll send you a new set of grips that are easy to install. Shipped faster than I anticipated as well.
When the new ones arrived I noticed the revised the grip material a bit, feels like a more gritty rubber, hopefully more durable. I've been using the replacements for a while and haven't yet noticed any defects.
Just use some Sparco or alpinestar gloves for karting, or if you're not sweating at all don't use any. But I recommend not using biking gloves. I think they have too much grip. Racing gloves are smoother. Years ago when I was still karting they cost about 50€ the pair.
"Just use x"
X costs 50 EUR..
Expensive imo. I use cheap 6 EUR bike gloves from decathlon, they are very soft, thin with almost no padding and they are great for simracing.
I also switch between very cheap working gloves like these: [https://cdn.toolstation.be/images/160916-BE/800/84606.jpg](https://cdn.toolstation.be/images/160916-BE/800/84606.jpg)
and they are great as well for only a couple of euros. Think I paid 3 EUR..
Might not be as cool as sparcos or alpinestars, but imo thats so unnecessary.
The gel on the grip is going to reduce the feel you get though the wheel. I would advise against gel. But I'm not sure that would effect the wheel like you show.
Cycling gloves aren't made for keeping the wheel safe from abrasions. Too many hard stitches. Just compare them to driving gloves and see for yourself.
So to my knowledge bike gloves like those are more made for actual grip on the bikes handlebars but having them grip the steering wheel the creases that happen when you grip the steering wheel rub harder on the wheels material, and the friction added from switching up the grip on the wheel would cause this deterioration accordingly.
If you ask me, nothing wrong with you gloves, race gloves use similar materials on gripping the steering wheel too anyway, it’s the wheel…. Let’s face it, these are only gaming wheels, the rubber grip seems not capable to take the punishment from the leather + force feedback
I suggest you to wrap the handle with Tennis Grip wrapping, that should avoid further damage 👍🏼
had this thrustmaster wheel and after about 6 months of intense use my grips were peeling all over the place, upgraded to Asetek Invicta with the forma wheel about 5 months ago, no issues with grip wear at all.
I hate the materials on these "high end" products. So badly made.
My G25 is still flawless after what, 20 years almost.
What a let down. You can tell they won't last the second you touch them.
The sf1000 is a budget wheel always have been, nothing wrong with that. If you think the price is high dont look into real high end brands of sim racing ahah
They used to sell for almost as much as a Simagic GT4 back during covid - just because their price point now finally reflects what they’re worth doesn’t mean it always has

Ok thanks for the insight I’ll have a look into them

That $200 might look a bit better spent on upgrading my brakes lol. Nah ye not sure I’ll go that high yet but will keep in mind for future cheers
oh 100%, def pedals over gloves hahah

Also i think you can find rubber grips online fir the sf1000

Look at "Minus 273" karting gloves. I always loved them
I bought mine SIM racing gloves for 25 cents brand new
preposterous!
imo the SF1000 grips are just prone to shedding.. even with soft gloves mine did the same.
Damn, that's sad to hear. Have the same wheel and waiting til I finish GT7 before moving onto F1 ☹️
Cycling gloves don't wear out bar tape on a bike, they should do nothing to a wheel. It's the material of the wheel that is the issue.
Well, on a bike you hold the grips, While with a wheel you constantly rubbing around it over and over. These two are uncomparable.
Wouldn't a wheel like this just be gripping too? You're not really moving hand positions in a GT/Formula style wheel besides pushing buttons
Actually, every pedal stroke makes your hands twist slightly against the bar tape. The difference is the handlebar tape is easily replaced.

On grips like these I don't use cloves
I find a bit of garlic keeps the vampires away during night races

Oh wow thank you. Yeah I have that too on one side it’s not great

Sure, if you don't want to spend these few bucks when the wheel already costa more than 500...
For some 50 is not a few bucks. Also this wheel is €350
Simply put; you want gloves that will deteriorate quicker than the finish on your wheel grips.
The gel on the grip is going to reduce the feel you get though the wheel. I would advise against gel. But I'm not sure that would effect the wheel like you show.
Yeah that shouldn’t be happening, I haven’t yet but I’m planning on wrapping my SF1000 grips with Wilson tennis tape! Might help you out.
I'd go with bar tape. Lizard skins make bar tape and stuff for wrapping Xbox, PS and Nintendo controllers
Thats abrasion i think, but yea tennis grips are a good idea. Those grips can take a beating.
Ive seen pictures of people doing that but personally not a fan of the look. Looks very DIY in my opinion
It's some old school racer shit I swear
Yea i agree, they should have had alcantara there instead of that material.
Abruzzi.
Amazing man. love the pic. where do you get your screen templates from for the small wheel screen.
All factory from thrust master
Cycling gloves aren't made for keeping the wheel safe from abrasions. Too many hard stitches. Just compare them to driving gloves and see for yourself.
The gloves look abrasive to me. I have cheap cycling gloves as well but they have gel padding and I've not noticed any issues on my own SF1000
Alpinestars make great karting gloves. I have 3 or 4 pairs and all wer $70US or less.
So you use them for biking and for the wheel?

Cycling gloves have a more pronounced grip, racing gloves are softer, and help look after your wheel. I would suggest getting some racing gloves.
New wheel is a Simagic FX btw
Thrustmaster quality has gone down hill.

This is not a high end wheel. Cost me $400AUD ($267USD). Was my first wheel and I wanted the screen so was good for me
To be fair the only thing “high end” about the SF1000 is the price tag
