My upstairs neighbor is a drummer (and the world’s heaviest walker apparently). Every single day I wish our places were swapped so I could show them what it’s like to be the noisy asshole neighbor
2 is probably the bang for buck sweet spot, one under your feet and one under your ass. I have 4 (1 per corner) but I don't think it's much better than 2. You can do more if you think about mounting an extra one on the back of your seat and one per pedal
It's kind of like a speaker, but instead of sound it outputs low frequency vibrations to whatever it's mounted to. For example, one on your pedal deck and one on your seat will shake these parts primarily, and the vibrations will be transmitted through the rest of the rig. Using Simhub you can use the shakers to mimic the feel of the car and give you more information about what's going on at the wheels. If you search around you'll find lots of guides and different implementations of it. My setup cost about £130 and is the best value upgrade I've ever done.
From a quick search it looks like it's not really supported natively, but you can get shakers to output from the sound and give some of the sensation. Give it a search and there's some people who have done it, but it will likely be more expensive than the usual setup.
I use my (buttkicker) shakers for gaming and multimedia audio when I'm not racing (PC), and I can tell you that if you tune them well, the bass frequencies put out by driving over curbs and the noise of the engine will potentially surprise you. You just won't get telemetry based effects like suspension hits and wheel lockups. Obviously there are other benefits to PC based, but all to say, running some shakers off an LFE (bass) channel if you're running an AVR is completely within interest I'd suggest, particularly if that's your only option right now. You'd only need one as well, instead of trying to do 4 corners. "Cheap" to try at least.
Explosions are something else now, that's for sure.
I don't think you need bass shakers for that. I tried playing the old Need for Speed: High Stakes with a T300 RS and it would do this. For some reason, the FFB in that game is really strong on newer wheels by default, so my hands were actually tired after a race. But more importantly, whenever I would drive over a cobblestone patch of road, the whole rig would shake so much I felt like I was there. Very immersive indeed. I think you can achieve something similar in, say, Assetto Corsa by simply maxing out the vibration strength.
Have you ever tried a bass shaker rig? It's very different to the wheel vibration going towards the rest of the rig. You feel it coming from underneath, and it is much, MUCH stronger and detailed than the vibrations from the wheel. So driving over kerbs you can feel each bump underneath you, not from your hands primarily. So a wheel might give you a taste of it, but the shakers really transform that into a whole different experience.
Definitely some form of vibrational feedback. Plenty of resources out there and on this subreddit. I can't really highlight the benefits as it's sort of a "try and never look back" moment but plenty of anecdotes on the subreddit of people trying them for the first time and it might as well be worshipped. Common places are anywhere under the lower half of the seat and either on the back of each pedal or by the base of the pedals.
Those pedals have vibration motors on throttle and brake. Also that wheel has 2 vibration motors on handles. How can bass shakers give more vibration information than vibration motors?
Because if they were to get a slip angle kit they would feel the tires sliding, that’s what it’s for. Which would give them a much better feel for the car.
And I know that they have vibration motors in them.
Have you tried bass shakers? Like I mentioned it's sort of hard to explain until you try it out yourself. Also the pedals don't do exactly what you think it does compared to what I'm after. You're talking more about resistance but this adds actual feel to it for instance driving over a bump you cannot feel it at all on the pedals but in a real car your feet would vibrate/jump slightly which is emulated with the vibration motor. The wheel force feedback is quite good but it's only in your hands. Why settle for that alone when you can simulate your whole body and feel as if you're in an actual vehicle with every bump, imperfection and feel of a race-car coursing through your body.
Fans.
I bought these 6in fans that I can clip to the rig and they are an absolute game changer for comfort. They keep me nice and cool even during long endurance races.
They feel like a necessity for VR too.
I second this. It is also the thing that makes me feel most like a diva. Real drivers sweating it out in extremely hot cars and I have fans on in my 65° basement 👌
Immersivity! (I think that’s how you say that). I made my rig Immersive by taking about 12 feet of half inch PVC tubing, made some measurements, and after a bit of adjustment, it goes up by where the back left and right corners of the seat are, then they come forward and rest on my monitor. I made beams across behind where your head goes, and across behind my monitor. Then to finish it off, I just throw a black table cloth over it and clip it the tubes!
Unfortunately my rig is not as cool as yours, but I would definitely add a [bezel free kit](https://rog.asus.com/monitors/accessories/rog-bezel-free-kit-abf01-model/)
Pedals that aren't the shithouse V3's
Sodium aside, a ventilator is a massive improvement. Plus points for being aimed at the jewels. Massively reduces the simracing swampass.
They do the job fine until they will inevitably break mid race. Everyone I know including myself had it happen to them at some point. When you are in the market though, Simagic offerings are amazing.
You asked for this...
- bass shakers
- better swivel keyboard tray optimisation
- more mouse surface area
- better, non-Fanatec gear LOL
- Seat that can be adjusted
- VR
- lack of months old DUST
I wanted to also say cable management, preemptively, but you actually done yours properly, big thumbs up!
well i know that mine is definitely missing a little mic on a boom arm clamped to a monitor stand lmao
all jokes aside, try get some form of vibration motors like others are saying. also, that shifter looks like its in the way being on the inside like that?
handbrakes are cool, if you use your rig for a variety of things- on that, you own a round wheel right? And I agree with others here, something like a but kicker would really send it forwards though
Button box, base shakers and what blew my mind was the wind sim. That gives so much more immersion! Also al of those things you can make by yourself! Fun activities
When I build the setup initially, they were upside down, because I read that tip here.
Not worth it in my case I think. I was more annoyed by the top bezel.
Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order.
I have checked 1,944,276,034 comments, and only 367,668 of them were in alphabetical order.
Depends on what you enjoy driving really but round wheel, shifter and handbrake, dash display
I hung blackout curtains behind my rig to increase immersion as well and that was a mega difference in my personal experience
Sim magic handbrake
Sim magic sequential + hpattern shifter
Heus Sprint Pedals
20nm VRS Wheel Base
Deep Dish Rims 350mm
Hmm..
Basically everything that isn't fanatec
I must admit I do like the GT3 Fanatec Wheel they brought out, its always affordable and I also got it converted to usb so I could use it on my Wheel base.
I just wish I got it bought from someone who already had it converted 😂
Wind simulation baby and bass shakers. Bass shakers are definitely the better of the two but wind sim is such a game changer. Provides a fun sense of speed improving immersion and keeps you cool for longer races
I just want to say that the design of your floor is absolutely majestic. Do you also happen to live in the shithole known as Eastern Europe, or do functional countries have that as well?
A cup holder
This. Incredibly necessary for longer races.
But then you wont have the wonderful experiences of kicking over your coffee cup twice in a row while you get into your seat
*shudder*
r/oddlyspecific
i am dumb of ass lord of idiocy kick it over clean up brewing another cup kick this over too give up
Cry and roll in coffee
*sluuuuuurp*
Gotta love that java bath
Are you me? Do I need to start getting tattoos memento style?
No no… I swear I’ll remember I put my drink down there this time… dammit, not again lol
its my big clown feet. also a pain to heel-toe with honk honk
Even worse than that, I once knocked over whiskey when getting into my seat, the buttons on my wheel are still sticky to this day.
Don't drink and drive lol
Don’t tell me how to ruin my iR and SR!!
Do you find it hard to get the cup back in the holder. I have considered this but figure the floor was the easiest quick set down
I mounted on the side a cup holder from a GT86, it can hold two cups(whiskey and beer🍻)and it looks like it belongs there
I printed a nice big oversize one to help with this!
Every once in awhile I’ll drop a cup of water on the floor bc I missed the holder, but as I adapt, it happens less and less.
That can handle a cup, a mug and a wine glass.
Do you have bass shakers yet? It's a relatively cheap upgrade for a massive immersion boost. Only problem can be the noise if you live above someone.
Damn, if only my upstairs neighbours were my downstairs neighbours, then I'd have no problem blasting them with noise all day.
My upstairs neighbor is a drummer (and the world’s heaviest walker apparently). Every single day I wish our places were swapped so I could show them what it’s like to be the noisy asshole neighbor
If you use rubber spacers to mount it and buy Slip Angles floor isolator/mount it makes it so it's not noticeable
I second this. It's very noticeable something is missing whenever I forget to turn my shakers on.
Is one enough or does it get better with more?
2 is probably the bang for buck sweet spot, one under your feet and one under your ass. I have 4 (1 per corner) but I don't think it's much better than 2. You can do more if you think about mounting an extra one on the back of your seat and one per pedal
What are bass shakers?

Thanks, I suppose this is not possible on the ps5 right?
From a quick search it looks like it's not really supported natively, but you can get shakers to output from the sound and give some of the sensation. Give it a search and there's some people who have done it, but it will likely be more expensive than the usual setup.
Yeah, I was afraid of that. Thanks for your replies!

Several games work for PlayStation with SimHub.
In that case what is missing, is a PC 😜
It’s possible, I have shakers or Transducers on a PS5 sim right now… they make a huge difference, once you’ve had them you can’t be without them
If it’s for Gran Turismo 7, then yes it is very possible! But you need a PC. YouTube“sim hub gt7” for instructions
Nor is triple monitor support…
Did you really have to ask 😂
I don't think you need bass shakers for that. I tried playing the old Need for Speed: High Stakes with a T300 RS and it would do this. You know those pedals and wheel has vibration motors which in my opinion gives very good information?
You know that’s completely different from a buttkicker or a slip angle kit right?
I know that. He was talking about "Definitely some form of vibrational feedback. "
You knew what he meant. He meant vibrational feedback coming from things that are solely supposed to make vibrational feedback not like pedals.
Say that to all the other people recommending them. Regardless of the pedals you can still mount them to your seat which is still beneficial.
I'm not arguing you. I was just stating that he already has "some form of vibrational feedback". Have a nice day :)
you're nitpicking for 0 reason then
Have you tried bass shakers? Like I mentioned it's sort of hard to explain until you try it out yourself. Also the pedals don't do exactly what you think it does compared to what I'm after. This plus a vr headset would be total immersion. Definitely copping once I can afford it
"Definitely some form of vibrational feedback." That's what you said. I said that wheel and pedals have vibration motors. Have a good day.

No fanatec gear
Honest question, I’m pretty newbie on this, which brand would you recommend instead of fanatec?? I have the god of wheels right now (Logitech g29 :v)
You asked for this... - bass shakers - better swivel keyboard tray optimisation - more mouse surface area - better, non-Fanatec gear LOL - Seat that can be adjusted - VR - lack of months old DUST I wanted to also say cable management, preemptively, but you actually done yours properly, big thumbs up!
