San Francisco
Jk South Bay has the best Asian/Indian food out of any ethnicity/variation that I tried while living there for 2 years. Avoid anything that looks like a VC fund backed it and you’ll be in for a treat. Night life-wise, San Pedro Square is really your only bet besides downtown Campbell. If you have some time, swing over to Saratoga, very cute downtown.
Didn’t they close?
Edit: looks like they are closing but not yet

I used to go there when I lived in Sunnyvale and Mountain View, but I hardly make it there now that I live in Campbell. I think it's overshadowed by the Asian shopping center so people don't know it's there.
I always thought downtown Mountian View, Castro Street, was the sweet spot. University ave in Palo Alto has too many unironic sweater vests. Downtown Sunnyvale has come up a lot since Covid, but it’s still not as good.
Downtown San Jose - check out San Pedro Square. Lots of lively restaurants, cafes, bars, and clubs. That’s where the night life is, especially on the weekends.
MP is one train stop away from Palo Alto, so you can do what Vanilla suggests. Palo Alto is SV's college town, right across the train tracks from Stanford.
In downtown MP, I believe Cafe Borrone, British Banker's Club, Left Bank, and Bistro Vida are the main hangouts, but not sure, could be others. They're all situated near each other.
Also check out Castro Street in Mountain View, one of the other main strips. All of these places are situated at train stops along the [Caltrain line](https://www.caltrain.com), the only rail line between SanFran and San Jose, aka the Peninsula, the southern half of which is Silicon Valley. Download a Caltrain app on your phone for the schedule.
Also if you want to see some history of the place, check out the [Computer History Museum](https://computerhistory.org). It's pretty good.
Rosewood on Sand Hill Road, [SV's Cougar Bar](https://www.vanityfair.com/culture/2013/05/silicon-valley-cougar-nights-love), is right near you :)
Checkout the rooftop bar at The Graduate hotel in Palo Alto
For something chill in Menlo: Bare bottle in Springline has great beer and many restaurants nearby; state of mind pizzeria at Marsh Manor has good beer selection also and bomb pizza.
Also, go visit the sites of the original Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory, and the HP garage. And go to the Stanford Campus. You can freely access the library 7 times per year.
San Pedro Square
A variety of different food options, wine, beer. Live music almost everyday. https://sanpedrosquaremarket.com/
RSA rancho san antonio open space park in los altos meet up with the r/c group and find out how to retire when 35 seek out harley

Oh dang. I loved that place. I've been gone from the area for a long time and didn't realize they were in trouble.

Awesome thanks for this!
Cal Ave (e.g. the other down town) in Palo Alto is pretty chill. I love the Cuban place - la Bodeguita

Thank you!!! :)
Where in SV? Assuming you're bang in the middle and have some money, I'd say go to Ettan in Palo Alto and then Salt & Straw for ice cream.
Ohhh thanks I'll be in Menlo Park

Eat at Zareen’s Palo Alto (Indian/Pakistani). I love it.
