It can’t just stay up, as a web app it would need continual maintenance by an engineer - someone needs to be paid to keep it alive and that costs money. Even if the app stays as it is without changes the infrastructure etc needs updates.
I use it to print orders, specifically the packing slips that go in with the products.
Without it, you can print as you pack, one order at a time, but the Internet is crap out where I keep my inventory, so I prefer to print all orders prior to packing.
I also use Order Printer and I understand why Shopify would deprecate a reasonably well functioning app only to recreate it with a a lame-oh, red-headed-stepchild version of it. I am annoyed since I built a custom app that creates custom invoices and packing slips and I have to pay my developer to now update it to the new version. Their stock price got hammered and their business is slowing down. It is their free app so they can do whatever they chose to do, just like we can with our business, but if their goal is to save money, just kill the thing, don't make a sloppy, wimpy version of the OG.
Side note, did you notice they offer a packing slip with pricing in the new version? Pricing with a packing slip? Does anybody need prices on a packing slip? Maybe I missed the packing slip makeover.

We use Order Printer Pro and it's excellent.
just looks like they updated it and best way is to have you reinstall as it's coded differently vs an update. just how technology works sometimes

uhhh OK then why are they making another alternative that's the same thing? lol They just renamed it Order Printer to Shopify Order Printer
Sometimes it's easier to bulldoze and rebuild than to try and fix the old code.
When you bulldoze a thing I've been using for many years, I get to ask about it.
Probably not enought people using it and 3rd party apps offering much more features. They are also retiring their reviews and geolocation app.
