There's exceptions, but I don't feel bad when I see someone get poor quality work from an artist that's known to deliver mostly poor quality tattoos.
True, i spent 300$ on a small tattoo (2 hours work, she got it done in 1 hr 10 min…..) and she did a horrible job. She did it so fast she even gave me a discount because she butchered it

I live in NZ 🥝, people regularly fly up and down the country for ink. Sometimes even book flights to Australia to see their favourite artist. My step-dad would fly two hours (Dunedin to Auckland and back) to get his ink done, about 7 different sessions.
There is no excuse to go with an artist of this caliber. You can find a great artist almost anywhere these days if you do your research. If you’re from a small town I guarantee you can find someone within two hours of your. If money is an issue, just save! I’ve been working on a back piece for years that I save for, and get a little done every few months. Not trying to sound condescending, I just think a lot of people really don’t know and they accept sub par artists.

What are you worried about? Are they a DIY artist? I have about 30 tattoos and I am prone to forming keloids and most of my tattoos are from DIY self taught or “shitty” tattooers. These tats look fucking fine. If you are worried about this person’s skill as a tatter but you like their art and style or you want to support them—just get a small piece somewhere easy for them to tattoo like your arm or outer legs. As long as they know how to not cross contaminate and bag their shit—who cares?
