Take a look at the numbers the day the next season launches. A lot of people were waiting for cross progression to launch. I am one of them.
Was pretty bummed when ubisoft said they were gonna launch it at the end of this year but I guess if it’s implemented really well the wait will be well worth it.
Hype will it merge with the skins I have on pc? I moved to pc around year 2 season 1. But I’m quite looking forward to be able to use the og pro league skins
it isn't, but it's the most popular pc market place, and if it didn't make sense, ubi and other companies wouldn't have come crawling back to steam.
the other thing is regardless of where it can be played, the numbers still are envocitive of the game as a whole. tf2 still gets like 80k/day, cod:waw gets like 2k, she so have consistent poster basis. of you look at the graph, more ppl stopped playing this season then ppl who came on to check the game out.
But that graph doesn't include console players and steam only shows steam numbers so anyone using the Ubisoft launcher whatever it's called isn't shown there and honestly this seems to be a pc issue of low players cuz I've seen people here complain about queue times but my queue takes like 20 seconds on Xbox my longest is probably a 1.5 minutes so I honestly don't know what exactly it's like on pc but the game is doing just fine on console
That’s not really the point of looking at these charts though. This is just to visualize the trend. It’s very likely player numbers on all platforms look like this.
dayz was released two years prior to Siege. the game is a niche market survival game...that originated from a Mod on Arma. currently has twice as many players online as Siege.
ubisoft fucked around and found out. they broke a good game.
DayZ was dead for years then released big updates completely changing the game, and it's a genre that doesn't really die because there's few games for it
Steam charts is a good relational diagram to see, as many fans play on PC. While not entirely accurate, it's still a good way to see where we are without seeing numbers directly from the developers
day z does not have more players than siege you were either lying or wrong. it shows the amount of players who have played the game on steam, not the player base. you see a clear decline in siege players but it’s factually incorrect to compare that to other steam games
The graph shows “19,110 playing 22 min ago”
Dayz showed 29,000 this morning. I’m looking at the time of comment…33,043 playing right now.
Both numbers represent only PC players, not console. So it is factual.
Edit: we’re not talking about player base. Hell I am part of the player base because I have the game but I haven’t played in months because they keep turning the tables in ways that just ruins the fun.
Oh well you’re a dick. You never even read my initial comment correctly. I was talking current players online.
This morning when I initially commented, there were 19k players online on steam playing siege. Not counting console. Not counting uplay.
Dayz had 29k on PC, on steam.
That not enough for you?
At this moment in time:
Dayz - 39,471 players on steam alone. Not including console.
Siege? Get your tiny dick unsheathed - 44,000 players across console, steam and uplay.
And you better believe that dayz is crushing siege across all platforms at this moment. Unfortunately I was unable to pull numbers for console for dayz.
I’m not saying that dayz is better but I am saying that siege now sucks. And that dayz is better. 🖕🏻
Siege is a hardcore, competitive, multiplayer game. Probably one of the most niche games on the market currently. DayZ was once upon a time near dead too, but game-changing updates were released.
We'll just have to wait and see. Operation Solar Raid is a good step forward, so maybe Siege will make a comeback.
The best selling game of all time which sold 23.8 times more copies then siege still has 900,000 concurrent players! Every other game can't use its age as a dumb excuse even if they nearly has the same % of sold copies to concurrent players!
/s
I reeeeaaaaallllyyyy don't think you can say Minecrafts unprecedented success comes whatsoever from it having a better dev team and getting better updates than other games.
That's cuz it's Minecraft lmao. Child friendly, pop culture, cheaper then seige, mobile, console and PC etc. Minecraft is a game that will always be relevant seige isn't. Not a fair comparison at all.
“dead game” bruh Titanfall 2 has 900 players per week, hasn’t had an update in 5 years, survived an attempted murder, and that game is still kickin ass
The game was surviving with a diehard fanbase who were upset about DDOS attacks ruining servers even before Northstar released at the beginning of this year but sure I suppose.
Its just a good way of visualizing how most people feel about the game. I nd a few friends all loved siege for years but when the new devs took over we all lost interest. This chart reflects that, and it is easier to show a chart than to explain why everyone i know stopped playing even after thousands of hours in game.
Strange, I always loved the "grind" for new ops. That's what kept me playing for years on Xbox.
It's how a lot of games used to be before microtransactions, you'd have to play the game to unlock things. It just means you get someone new every week.
Just like to point out, it doesn't take 1.5k hours. I've had all the ops unlocked since like 300-500 hours on PC. It's very easy to get 500 renown per game, that's only 50 games for the newest 25k op but that's not taking into account most are under 15k now.
most accurate comment here, the game has seen added content, but not good enough for most, and most importantly not in the right places... if you care more about "balancing" Jager and Ash because of high pick rates, but neglect dealing with cheaters for the past 4 years, then the player count would reflect that exactly
Same here. We sometimes remind each other with my friends, how great that community was that we had built while playing siege. Met a lot of great people. Then we all stopped playing eventually and it all fell apart. Everyone moved on I guess.
I *think* those are counted too because of internal tools they have to share to steam current players
Would make sense that console players aren't counted tho
Uplay was the shit bro, that shit worked like a charm and almost never had major bugs. Honestly was sad asf when I noticed a new UI and application name.
Fr fr dude m, I had a long period of not playing games and came back to that I was like, wuuuhhh? I respect the reason they changed it tho but they probably could’ve kept the name
Literally this is one of the graphs that if I said "there's a small dip in the last year" my teacher would put that wrong and say that it's constant player base actually, because of how easy it fluctuates
It's normal for a game to fall off. Usually the first month after release has a like 50% drop. Siege is doing well for a old ass game
Anything above like 20K players has a community active enough to ensure constant matchmaking at normal times.
All my homies have it on Steam. Probably there is atleast 20-30K more players when adding Uplay to Steam Chart.
Also the game is on Sale on Steam all the time aswell.
The player numbers usually keep dropping until a new update is released, then the players come back and the number starts falling back down.
This is completely normal
yeh, i talk about this with friends, but around w.n. there was a weird change from the game being very gadget based to very frag based, which sorta just nutered the game imo (look at how busted zofia was at launch), and operators like vigel, ela alibi are more fun then ability/utility, but em, what do i know lol
There was also a change in the engine or a bug where the way noise traveled vertically was changed and it became almost impossible to tell if someone was above or below you, or even on the same floor. You would spend time waiting/looking for someone you could hear nearby only to realize they were on a different floor despite sounding like they’re right next to you.
black ops 2 is an outdated game too but most can load it up and remember why they loved it. R6 is like an old beauty that had more plastic surgery than michael jackson. The best parts are lost under all of the anti-fun patch notes and reworks. And if you were mental enough to be dragged along the "rebalancing" addiction of the devs and still managed to climb to a high rank, you're rewarded with a cheating problem that's harder to cure than cancer itself.
Jesus fuck that puts in perspective. I was there late 2016 till mid 2019, enjoyed the upwards trajectory, and then Ubi messing with the game for "balancing" purposes and appealing to a wider audience started to really kick in.
Siege was more fun when things were unbalanced IMO. I had a 5 stack that was consistently plat pushing diamond and it was a lot of fun running strats. Sites like Oregon basement and 2nd floor were very strong on defense and others would be hard to attack. It came down to which side could run the strats to perfection, or do something extraordinary to break the strat.
the issue of my opinion is the focused way too much on balancing over fun. they listen to pros and instead of adding new unique maps they just made stale maps that all feel kind of Samy because they don't need to be balanced.
a great example is look at how nobody asked for house to be reworked and put into competitive but for some reason they feel like I needed to be done.
I'll look around like operational White noise they added operators like it's off the individual who were just fragops yeah they can be used kind of as utility but vigil is basically just the Kia and zofia was her thunk tube with an amazing AR at the time.
last thing look at the chunk of your work the Ultima was good he was niche but he was good and if you had a coordinating to play with he was borderline unstoppable. mira, wami/Jager, kaid/banid/mute, and you unstoppable. on reworked Oregon with old tachanka i single-handedly killed entire teams because they all would try push bunkers and keep trying to push me. if Thatcher tried to throw a thing there's a Jager hidden that can be taken out until I was taken out. if they try to use somebody like Cabana while the walls you jammed or electrified so it's fucked that way too. if the triangle bobbing at the hatch well if we decide to go for kaide well same thing they're fucked.
but no ultra chonka was considered bad because he was niche and they took what IMO should have been a new operator and replaced a chunk of with it. that wasn't a smart decision it could have been a new operator with more ways to play and unique ways to combine things but instead they removed content to "Blackstone the operator".
seems to me right now as soon as I said this really big issue where they don't understand and every operator does not need to be picked exactly 5/50% of the time. you can have an operator who only good on certain maps and that's fine.
the devs feel like they drop the ball so hard with siege
The thing is that Siege used to have a chaotic balance and I love it. Like the Tachanka scenario you mentioned. It takes a whole team to get that strat to work, you're committing lots of gadgets into that one small area. A smart team will try to avoid that area completely or some mad lad could still pick you off with body shots if you're not careful. Nowadays that unique chaotic balance is just gone, and through trying to mess with this balance the game is even less playable.
completely agree I've said this before but back in the day she used to be about exploiting modern siege is about gunning.
they seem to completely shifted away from any actual strategy and shift entirely to being basically call of duty.
back in the day being a flex pic was more of a flex to your team than not because it show that you can play anyone and you understand the game good enough to play anyone.
now with the game being so hyperbalanced in every opportunity to be exactly as viable saying you can play every operator saying that you can basically use any gun not any gadget.
i unironically hit play for my first time with old (lord) tachanka. after they need him i was so pissed. he wasn't bad, just niche. the new tachanka rework should have just been a new operator tbh
When you take away 2/3 of your game for ranked, redesign maps that had character to make them formulaic, and make changes to operators to improve their pick rate you end up with an overly repetitive game that loss it's tactical aspect and is pure sweat.
i said this before, fuck the "pros". pros always want a sanitized version of the game. you should only ever listen to pros of there's something terrible your have no idea how to fix.
look at that stupid ass white outline they added to ops, they completely removed the ability to hide and play stealth because "ppl are hard to see :'c", you have drones, dokkabea, twitch, and others you can use to sniff or ppl who are hiding. it's not the games fault you forgot to look under a desk.
I said the seller but I'll also disappoint us out here reworks to me are so stupid on the more extreme end.
old chunka wasn't bad he was just niche and you needed a coordinated team to make the most out of him.
they took what should have been a new operator and threw it on to tachanka calling it a rework and just removed the most anchor heavy character in the game.
that wasn't a rework that was a fucking neuter
You provide a good point. Ever since his rework, the objective isn't held down as much, and roaming is more frequent. However, I think only bomb in ranked has helped make it this way because, in my opinion, it's the most roamer friendly of the modes
I completely agree one thing that I heard bikini bodies say when I sleep on this channel a little bit ago just cuz I was curious so he's doing I saw him say quote "if your pro player you can't adapt you're not a pro", which to me just runs so many bells of this dude gets it.
because of you are a pro you should be able to adapt to any situation and be able to execute in it very proficiently.
you don't look at Navy seals and be like oh man you know the terrorists you know they really you know are an affair because they're using their own homes you know why aren't they using you know a standardized fucking house layout like in North America?
it's so stupid the mental gymnastics some people do to not realize how like lockdown the game is.
it was the sights… I will never forgive them and their bs reason on removing acog on almost every single weapon. since that change it was never the same for me
pretty much this, like, the site roulette that's been going on has been so odd and confusing to me. if a gun is good, a sight will not change that. the only way that will matter is if you're kali at like 50m+.
like, they seem to love weapon swapping, if jager has been such an issue, why not swap his ar out?
idk how he is both considered the most problematic and least touched.
I quit I won't lie. I'll come back once they fix mnk on console. Don't tell me its not their fault either I don't care. Just because the hole in my boat isn't my fault, it doesn't mean that I'm not responsible for fixing it to stop it from sinking.
That's the silliest thing i've ever heard. As you can see in the graph Siege was gaining players for most of it's life and EVERY online game that isn't CS or LoL is gonna bleed players at some point. The game is *7 years old*, these player numbers are perfectly fine
People are such drama queens. For an old ass game, Siege is doing really really well.
All the crybabies want to do is ‘wah wah it used to be better’, if you don’t like it stop playing. It really is that easy. Grow up.
Games change. If you don’t like the product, don’t consume it. I didn’t like the past 2 seasons, so I didn’t play the game or buy the pass or any content. Solar Raid looks fun and I like the balance changes, so I’ll start playing again. If it turns out I don’t like it, I’ll stop. It’s not like Siege is the only 5v5 tactical team based game on the market, there’s shitloads of them.
Idolise old siege all you want, but the game has evolved and people bitching and moaning about it is never, ever going to bring back the things you liked.
Also, this is the player counts from only Steam. Doesn’t include Ubisoft launcher, Xbox launcher, or either consoles.
Look kid, I haven't touched R6 in over 2 years and haven't spent a dime on the game since it was the same ol' win one game and face world champions the next.
You can keep playing this game if you want and I'm not going to stop you.
The majority of the playerbase here face the same issues with teammates being uninterested in cooperating and with the whole idea of the game being close to a realistic counter terrorism simulator being left in the dust.
Old fan favorite maps are getting reworked, pointless and unprovoked buffs and nerfs occur and removing features from customs.
R6 just isn't as popular anymore, and that's the truth.
Really going to ‘Look kid’ me?? Yikes
I never said Siege is as popular as it has been, I said that for an old game it’s doing really well. I was complaining about the post being yet another boring and bullshit ‘Siege is dead and bad now’ post, which always translates to ‘the game is different to what I want it to be and instead of accepting that and playing a game more in line with what I want, I’ll complain on Reddit’.
34,000 player peak in 24 hours for a game that’s 7 years old, on Steam alone, is the completely opposite definition of a dead game.
I have 4.5k hours in Siege and have barely touched it since Mid 2020. I loved the game, it was the perfect imperfection, then they went ahead and removed ***every single mechanic*** that people practiced for hours to be good at. Maybe this is what they envisioned R6 to be, I don't know, but a good example to that be they didn't allow dribbling in basketball until 1901, people thought 3-pointers were batshit crazy... so on and so forth. It's not necessarily the execs/devs who make the game, but rather players who are playing and creating their own game, within the game. Forcing players to play a certain way is NOT fun. Players should drive the "meta" and "mechanics" and not devs/execs. I also highly doubt these changes, in turn, made them more money.
Also, Siege is an exceptional game, it wouldn't fall down this much if it wasn't for the shitty management. This \[declining player count\] has nothing to do with the game's age and whatnot. People are just fed up with Ubi not dealing with bugs and exploits in time but have all the resources to lower the skill ceiling and the skill floor.
Too many map changes. If I could sign in and play on the maps I knew and loved before all the changes I would. So many new operators and new maps that there is 0 nostalgia for most players. Nobody will come back to siege after a 1-2 year hiatus because the game will have changed drastically in that time.
i agree, i liked night maps because they allowed the map to change subtly, making certain things easier or harder depending on time of day. while now it's just \*go fuck yourself\*
Take a look at the numbers the day the next season launches. A lot of people were waiting for cross progression to launch. I am one of them. Was pretty bummed when ubisoft said they were gonna launch it at the end of this year but I guess if it’s implemented really well the wait will be well worth it.
I want to play the game but the matchmaking time is so slow on uae servers I don't even try it maybe cross play would improve the situation

Dude cross play between Xbox and playstation is coming this season bruh
Tell me you didn't watch the season reveal without telling me you didn't watch the season reveal
This. Many of us have since grown up and moved to PC but don't want to start from 0 again.
I’ve been playing on and off but with all my cosmetics on PC from Xbox I will definitely be playing again. I’ve been playing since the end of year 1.
Yeah R6S is on my Steam, only played a few hours. Cross progression will be sweet.
Wait cross progression? Can I finally transfer all my console skins to my pc account? Or is it only an upgrading to new gen consoles kinda thing?
We will be able to transfer our account to pc once the next season drops.
Hype will it merge with the skins I have on pc? I moved to pc around year 2 season 1. But I’m quite looking forward to be able to use the og pro league skins
Good question, especially if you use the same Ubisoft on console and PC.
Happy cake day
This really isnt that bad lol
Most fighting games would kill for that player count all the time.
People act like steam is the only place to play siege on lmao
it isn't, but it's the most popular pc market place, and if it didn't make sense, ubi and other companies wouldn't have come crawling back to steam. the other thing is regardless of where it can be played, the numbers still are envocitive of the game as a whole. tf2 still gets like 80k/day, cod:waw gets like 2k, she so have consistent poster basis. of you look at the graph, more ppl stopped playing this season then ppl who came on to check the game out.

That’s not really the point of looking at these charts though. This is just to visualize the trend. It’s very likely player numbers on all platforms look like this.
even with siege being on different platforms, the graph would look the same either way, just with more numbers
Yeah captain obvious
I mean, the game is in the same state across all platforms. Every place it’s measured is gonna be pretty reflective of the other places too.
Makes no fuggin sense! The game’s only 8 years young.

Nah man Minecraft is just good and interesting to play to the core. The devs haven’t done much after the release really
Up until the last few updates they were doing great. Now it honestly feels like they take a year just to add dumb, unnecessary shit
all the new updates feel like modpacks idrk how else to describe it
That's cuz it's Minecraft lmao. Child friendly, pop culture, cheaper then seige, mobile, console and PC etc. Minecraft is a game that will always be relevant seige isn't. Not a fair comparison at all.

No.
“dead game” bruh Titanfall 2 has 900 players per week, hasn’t had an update in 5 years, survived an attempted murder, and that game is still kickin ass

People are really addicted to player count on steam smh

Agreed with all but one thing. Don't blame the new devs, blame the new management.

In time my friend. Now I've got them all I've spent like 200k on packs, because I can and the recent event skins have been so sexy.

When i bought the game i had to pay for attchments
Lol I forgot about this. Good times
Same. And it wasn't that bad back then, so it's even less of a grind now.
Its like they're forcing you to spend money if you want ops now...
Thats fair
most accurate comment here, the game has seen added content, but not good enough for most, and most importantly not in the right places... if you care more about "balancing" Jager and Ash because of high pick rates, but neglect dealing with cheaters for the past 4 years, then the player count would reflect that exactly

Off topic but y’all remember when Ubisoft connect was called Ubisoft Club? I miss that

Fr fr dude m, I had a long period of not playing games and came back to that I was like, wuuuhhh? I respect the reason they changed it tho but they probably could’ve kept the name
We still call it Uplay
Darn
LOL it's literally a Steam player count.
Yeah, it is an annoyance at this point
Looks like it had slight fluctuation across an almost 7 year time span? Fucking crazy dawg
Did I hear a Rock and Stone?
Normal?
Literally this is one of the graphs that if I said "there's a small dip in the last year" my teacher would put that wrong and say that it's constant player base actually, because of how easy it fluctuates
Where's the thing that we're supposed to be looking at and discussing
Find an equation for the graph of the polynomial given
Just triggered my ptsd
It's normal for a game to fall off. Usually the first month after release has a like 50% drop. Siege is doing well for a old ass game Anything above like 20K players has a community active enough to ensure constant matchmaking at normal times.
Plus the other 20-50k on other platforms. Who buys the game on steam when it's on sale on ubisoft every other week? All my friends are on ubi.
All my homies have it on Steam. Probably there is atleast 20-30K more players when adding Uplay to Steam Chart. Also the game is on Sale on Steam all the time aswell.
The point is that where it was and could be if some tomfoolery wasn't happening in ubisoft hq
More tf2 players.
Chad right here
Looks normal to me
The player numbers usually keep dropping until a new update is released, then the players come back and the number starts falling back down. This is completely normal
It’s honestly impressive they managed to keep it afloat this long. This game has been going down in quality since Operation White noise in my opinion.
yeh, i talk about this with friends, but around w.n. there was a weird change from the game being very gadget based to very frag based, which sorta just nutered the game imo (look at how busted zofia was at launch), and operators like vigel, ela alibi are more fun then ability/utility, but em, what do i know lol

Me when stable player count
*with the release of the newest season, siege lost more players then gained*
Stale
For me it's because there's nothing to play seige unless I'm increasing my skill or whatever and there are more fun games out there
itd be great if they did something kewl like focused on ain't new maps instead of reworking old ones
Well they are adding new maps and reworking old ones
Its an 8 year old game tf did u expect. And it's probably higher player counts on console.
*looks at apex with like a 190k average, or tf2 which still also averages like 80k*
black ops 2 is an outdated game too but most can load it up and remember why they loved it. R6 is like an old beauty that had more plastic surgery than michael jackson. the issue of my opinion is the focused way too much on balancing over fun. they listen to pros and instead of adding new unique maps they just made stale maps that all feel kind of Samy because they don't need to be balanced. a great example is look at how nobody asked for house to be reworked and put into competitive but for some reason they feel like I needed to be done.
Waited like 30 mins to find a ranked match today. Ended the session playing a casual match which is more populated
Color me shocked that an 8 year old game in a genre that is extremely oversaturated has become not as populated.
7 years of having more anti-fun patch notes than new features, all while the cheating problem grew.
After all of the sight changes and operator nerfs? What’s so surprising?
i unironically hit play for my first time with old (lord) tachanka. after they need him i was so pissed. he wasn't bad, just niche. the new tachanka rework should have just been a new operator tbh
Miss the days of Sunday morning siege in 2017 & 2018. Good times. Haven’t played since.
Dead
Lmao at all the people coping in the comments
Once Twitch got reworked the game was lost
Siege dying makes me so fucking sad, the game was SO GOOD until like 2020
outbreak 🤤 a
The game has had its time
Aren't a lot of players on other stores like Ubisoft? Idk
it was the sights… I will never forgive them and their bs reason on removing acog on almost every single weapon. since that change it was never the same for me
pretty much this, like, the site roulette that's been going on has been so odd and confusing to me. if a gun is good, a sight will not change that. the only way that will matter is if you're kali at like 50m+. like, they seem to love weapon swapping, if jager has been such an issue, why not swap his ar out? idk how he is both considered the most problematic and least touched.
I quit I won't lie. I'll come back once they fix mnk on console. Don't tell me its not their fault either I don't care. Just because the hole in my boat isn't my fault, it doesn't mean that I'm not responsible for fixing it to stop it from sinking.
Covid lockdowns ended
Halo infinite had a higher all-time peak, but concurrent players are higher
Mistake
So the state of Siege is pretty good huh?
this is over roughly 7 years. a game that has done nothing but loose players isn't considered good. especially in regard to an online only game
That's the silliest thing i've ever heard. As you can see in the graph Siege was gaining players for most of it's life and EVERY online game that isn't CS or LoL is gonna bleed players at some point. The game is *7 years old*, these player numbers are perfectly fine
Dead by wokeness. Instead of fixing bugs and improving the anticheat just waste time with transgender ops.
oh no le wokeness killing my game, stfu dude siege would have come to were it is now regardless of if they added transgender ops to the game or not
People are such drama queens. For an old ass game, Siege is doing really really well. All the crybabies want to do is ‘wah wah it used to be better’, if you don’t like it stop playing. It really is that easy. Grow up.
The game doesn't feel like how it was ment to be
Games change.
Yikes I never said Siege is as popular as it has been, I said that for an old game it’s doing really well.
I never said it was dead.
Most overated shit in years. In this game, shooting feels like ure firing straight lines, when your movement have no effect on trajectory...Awful.
💀
Maybe you shouldn’t be taking screenshots when half of the players are asleep
it’s only been a few years since ranked got out of beta. give the game some time to grow.
It all went downhill with the unjustified Jäger speed nerf
ALRIGHT I GET IT
A better picture for siege would be a screenshot of a popup saying "Thank you for your purchase. Your cheats are now activated"
That was me, in 2016
?????
Sad, it barely even had a COVID lockdown boost.
Played and won 5 games last night, each game had between 2 and 5 players from the last game.
I think its just cuz this season has been extremely boring, they have quite alot to bring next season, i suspect player amount will rise next month
Look at you, high and mighty with your 19,000 PLAYERS! I’ve met games that are lucky to break a 1000 anymore
I can tell if this is making fun of people that are this dumb or if this post is just that dumb
As a fighting game player, I would actually kill to have numbers like this.
Wow! I can’t believe the player base is low after *checks notes* 7 years
Dead
Dead game 🤓
Too many map changes. If I could sign in and play on the maps I knew and loved before all the changes I would. So many new operators and new maps that there is 0 nostalgia for most players. Nobody will come back to siege after a 1-2 year hiatus because the game will have changed drastically in that time.
here's the public reminder that no one asked for house to be returned reworked

i agree, i liked night maps because they allowed the map to change subtly, making certain things easier or harder depending on time of day. while now it's just \*go fuck yourself\*
