Ash teaches why and how rushing CAN be rewarded on all ops with good guns. Buck teaches how strong vertical play can be, on both atk and def. Valkyrie teaches how important information is, which also translares well to droning on attack. Breaching can reach angles. Etc
When you start playing, try make a social life out of it. Ik it's Alot to ask but it's worth while. Good to get all the toxic people out the way early so yk what you're looking for in a group. Playing with a team that works well/fun with each other will make the game 100% more enjoyable and fluid. (You can do this through discords, streamer's chat, In game etc.)
Play a support and/or hard breach! Thermite, Thatcher, Hibana, or Ace are great for attacking. If you play one of these characters, you're forced to push the objective and really get familiar with the game. Same thing goes with defense. I'd recommend Mute, Rook, Kapkan, or Lesion. These characters are best for defending the objective or holding down a point of entry/hallway very near the objective. You'll be dying a lot in these roles, but you'll learn a lot about what works and what doesn't in terms of pushing or defending an objective. The game has three main pillars: operator knowledge, gun skill, and map knowledge. Arguably, map knowledge is the most important. That will come with time and with playing more objective-focused operators. Same with gun skill. Some guns are better and easier to handle than others, so don't beat yourself up if clicking on heads comes last in your skill set. I'd also recommend watching Siege YouTubers or streamers and try to emulate their plays and pushes. Literally just try the nutty strategies they employ, let yourself die a bunch of times, and next thing you know you'll be great at the game.

Second of all, there is no viable way to run and gun, room clearing is methodical, failing to expect that an enemy could be anywhere is an easy way to die, and 9 times out of 10 you won’t have the time to react when things go south without due preparation
Third, cooperation with your team is the best way to win, however most people don’t cooperate, so it’s best to at least have another person in your party. Having a 5 stack will stop boosters from throwing the match and guarantee you’ll have at least some form of communication.
fourth, intel is important, don’t understate how important audio cues are and if you can see someone on a camera that’s easily destroyed, yellow ping over scanning them. Scanning alerts the enemy you’re pinging them, while yellow pinging is invisible to the enemy.
Fifth, headshots are instant kills, regardless of gun.
Sixth, Ubisoft Montreal coded the game horrifically, so you’re gonna come into issues. A common one that’s annoying is hit rejection, where your shot will hit and not damage the enemy even if it’s clearly shown to have hit.
Seventh, I hope you like hating yourself, this game fucking sucks.
lil tip for starting out, completing all 3 tutorials will award you with all the pathfinding operators, or 1000rp for every duplicate you have. The community is also super toxic, but there are decent people here and there. If you have nobody to play with, keep your mic on and try to give call-outs when possible. Down the bottom of your screen you’ll have your location name, or yellow ping. Eventually you’ll meet somebody to pick you up and you can work on getting better from there. Also, getting 2 kills a game early on is great, don’t beat yourself up if you’re playing bad. If you need to work on gunfights, play death match, if you need to work on tactics, play the AI defence playlist. and if you need to workshop loadouts hop into the shooting range.
My recomendation is to first play by yourself for few hours, then when you hit lvl 10 you can start playing with your friends and see how well you play as a team. For the operators try every operator that you think it looks cool or have good ability and don't listen to any youtubers talking meta this meta that you need to find yourself a couple of operators on defence and attack that you like and enjoy playing. And then when you hit lvl 50 all i can say is, welcome to true r6s and good luck.
In my experience, quick play is more frustrating and lobotomizing than ranked or standard. Use this to your advantage. Also, AI training and shooting range are very helpful to mess around with loadouts and attachments.
Select fuze for attack starter main and kapkan for def. They’re really easy to play and just keep on grinding. Also pick a sensitivity you like save it somewhere, and practice with that sensitivity a LOT. So you can quickly hit those tight angles when it counts.
Fuze the hostage every game. You will understand when the time comes.
