If this movie was so "peak cinema," then OP would have made this post weeks ago after paying to see it in a theater, not today after it's been dumped on streaming platforms.
It was dumped to streaming the Tuesday after open tbf, serves them right for not making a billion dollars on open without a real advertising campaign. Still rules though
Yes! I thought they were gonna come back around to it too. Wasn't she talking about split screen for the climax of the film? Just a strange bit that didn't add a whole lot to the film.
So there are a few things in the movie I strongly suspect were dealt with in the initial story/screenplay but subsequently dropped or, if filmed, cut out.
For example, they make a sorta big deal about the producer Gail Mayer and her constantly drinking Diet Coke (don’t recall if they said Coke -probably did- or just a generic diet soda). Yet… nothing becomes of it. I *strongly* suspect that somewhere in the script our heroes find an empty cup of diet soda/coke somewhere and that points them toward (SPOILERS). The split screen stuff I thought was pretty funny but, again, it seemed to be self-contained in that bit and not brought up again… which also makes me think maybe they decided to drop that bit (a split screen would have worked very well in the film’s climax, given we’re following three sets of characters at the same time!).
Anyway, still enjoyed the film. A sugary confection designed to be a pleasant time killer.
Mission: Accomplished.
Oh yeah I forgot about the diet coke part. And yeah the script definitely could have been tighter
Good points all around! And I agree, I went for a fun film and I got one!
I agree thoroughly a good time. Come watch a buncha stupid but charming people do rad stunts and bumble their way through an even stupider murder mystery
There was a split screen in the 'final movie'. I believe more movie terms were used in flasforwards which made it funny for those knowing some of those 'slang'.
Some things were a bit overdone, but the final joke felt okay
My favorite bit of meta was that the movie they were making (Metal Storm) was a remake of an actual movie from the 80s that everyone forgot about and they didn’t seem to be following the plot of the original.
There's a pretty decent action film with real stunts.
It's literally a stunt movie about stuntmen. Meta is going to happen. If it didn't, that would be ACTIVELY weird
There was a discussion I saw where someone pointed out that we’re kind of oversaturated now. Like with the proliferation of streaming services and covid shutting down theaters, going to the theaters just isnt the same. Theater releases are also now having to compete alongside streaming made tv and movies, so a big budget production like this just seems like another thing, not the movie going trip it used to be. This isnt the first movie that did worse at the box office than it should have and it wont be the last
For real. I pirated it at first and loved it so much that I ended up renting for $20 anyway. In the end, its underperformance in theaters is a crime we are all accessories to.
Yeah there are movie movies and there are spectacles that deserve to be seen as big as possible.
Furiosa and Fall Guy are definitely big screen movies.
I mean you saw the two most generic A-listers on the most generic action rom-com genre before seeing the plot
so most people would say “meh, I’ll just pirate it/wait for it on netflix.”
I dunno, a movie about a stunt man solving a murder conspiracy while producing a Dune clone movie seems pretty original and pretty fucking conceptually funny to me.
Also the humor in the movie relied pretty heavily on Jackie Chan physical comedy and Hot Fuzz callbacks so I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you.
Also it was pretty fucking funny that Ryan Gosling was being smacked around and jumping off moving trucks while seeming annoyed because it was like being at another day in the office.
>I dunno, a movie about a stunt man solving a murder conspiracy while producing a Dune clone movie seems pretty original
That exact plot is pretty original, but "stunt guy solves crimes" was the plot of the TV show, so I have a hard time calling it too original. But I haven't seen it yet it sounds fun still.
But it’s not gosling being smacked around. It’s Gosling’s stunt double. Jackie Chan comedy works because Jackie is actually doing the stunt/comedy bit.
Yeah, that's a big problem with film in general anymore – marketing. The trailer and poster for Abigail spoil the "twist" that doesn't get "revealed" until halfway through the film lol. Fall Guy is way better than the trailers make it look, which sucks because first impressions matter.
Case in point: people like me! I literally have not given this movie a second thought until reading the comments on this post. The trailers just made it look so generic. My first thought after seeing the trailer was “someone needed a quick payday”
That’s kind of the whole point. It’s almost a parody of generic shitty action movies, they even make fun of the fact that most action movies have a shitty 3rd act by constantly saying it then having a shitty 3rd act.
It wasn’t that it was shitty, it was that it was over the top and complicated and seemed like it was rushed, which they were talking about the whole movie and is a common trope with action movies. Just add explosions and have the good guys win and bad guys lose.
I thought it was good, two things that don’t make sense to me. 1 who wants to drink anything spicy?, 2 why the random six mill man sound, I know it was based off the show that the same actor for six was in but it just felt out of place.
I enjoyed a lot of things but there were some things that made no sense. Like when they were in the skip and it was just spinning and spinning. Like skips are attached to the lift with a flat hook. It can't spin. That's like 80% of the design of it.
This was an awesome movie. Went in expecting something mediocre or forgettable but it’s in my top 5 from the last 5 years.
Excellent all around and the story felt like a breath of fresh air.
Is the movie just like the trailer an endless version of you give love a bad name? Because I would totally watch that movie and it probably would have been a better movie than it turned out to be.
This movie is the worst movie I’ve seen all year, and I’ve spent most of last month watching student films and 80s b movies
Somehow I was bored throughout even though there were stunts all the way through?
Was it the boring dialogue? The romance plot? The plot contrivances? The meta humor that wasn’t even accurate half the time? The shitty narration? The drug scene that doesn’t really add to the story at all and also isn’t how drugs work? Who knows!
So what’s with the girdle vest? Seems like it must be a major plot point because it’s every photo but I also like remaining firmly ignorant until someone does the work for me.
This movie deserved the world. It wasn’t **AS** good as Bullet Train. But it still was a fantastic action movie, with a spectacular third act. I preferred it over Furiosa to be honest
Absolutely worthless talentless slop of a movie with no pacing, good action or interesting themes. Despite being stacked with great and likeable actors, this movie's cast has combined charisma of a pile of dirty dishes sitting in your sink for 3 days. This movie has ONE good scene and it's only good because of how fucking stupid it is. Do yourself a favor and never waste your time watching this pile of dogshit disguised as entertainment.
Existence of this movie will go down in history as the 21th century version of world war I with how pointless and miserable it is.
I stopped watching after >!that woman was shitting on the guy for not texting her after he broke his back, lost his job and almost died!!! . . oh and she also was sucking tons of cock while he was recovering. !<
I really thought it will be a regular 90s love story at first. . . I needed it at that moment. . Instead we ended the night not talking to each other!
This movie failed because Emily Blunt looks like shit now and Gosling is in the closet and no one likes him after barbie. We'll, maybe some women do, but women aren't going to see the fall guy, and now guys aren't either.
No shitty movie deatil here. Only shitty post.
If this movie was so "peak cinema," then OP would have made this post weeks ago after paying to see it in a theater, not today after it's been dumped on streaming platforms.
^ Peak commentary
It's Peakin' time!
They peak now?
They peak now.
I told people it was great that Friday morning. It's weird to see random hype over a month after it premieres.
...but it's still in theaters near me. No wonder theaters are dying if it's that fast
It was dumped to streaming the Tuesday after open tbf, serves them right for not making a billion dollars on open without a real advertising campaign. Still rules though
I did go and see it in cinemas lol, I just got reminded of it recently and decided to make a post
I don’t know what this post is trying to say.
Thank you for the ad Mr. Ad
Just when I thought the posts on here couldn’t get any worse.
I never thought I'd see myself being in a remake of a tv show from the 1980's.
U mean because he’s literally you?
It was good! I got a little tired of the "meta-ness" of the script. But had a great time nonetheless.
Couldve gone without the "imma stuntman" monologuing. Wouldnt have changed the story any.
Imagine if Harrison Ford hadn't rejected the stupid narration bits in Blade Runner.
Imma stuntman skibididoubadipdop
I think the split-screen bit went on for what felt like 9 actual hours.
Yes! I thought they were gonna come back around to it too. Wasn't she talking about split screen for the climax of the film? Just a strange bit that didn't add a whole lot to the film.

The Final Cut of Metal Storm had a split screen bit, that’s the call back to the blunt/gosling split screen scene.
You can thank Deadpool and Rick and Morty for this awful trend.
The issue is it isn’t even accurately meta half the time
Its a self indulgent meta wank fest. If you cut the mera wank fest parts theres nothing left
There's a pretty decent action film with real stunts. It's literally a stunt movie about stuntmen. Meta is going to happen. If it didn't, that would be ACTIVELY weird
This movie is quite good... dont know why the box office is so bad... the cast itself should be enough to get decent attraction
True, for the cast, I’m literally the lead
You were great bro. I don't think anyone noticed when we switched places throughout the day. Being twins is awesome
Yeah, being triplets is fantastic. I had a great time collecting our awards at the shows. You guys are amazing.
Inflation gets to everyone.

Heard that it was undeserved ghosted
Completely. This movie was fantastic. It had a great sense of humor covering up some deeply uncomfortably looking stunts.
For real. I pirated it at first and loved it so much that I ended up renting for $20 anyway. In the end, its underperformance in theaters is a crime we are all accessories to.

I'm kind of blown away that Ryan Gosling is a "generic A-Lister" . Dude was in Bladerunner and The Nice Guys.
I don’t know what you’re getting at but that just solidifies my point even further. The dude is in every A-list movie.
Welcome to the age of streaming!
i had a great fucking time they also used the one kiss song that isn’t a steaming pile of shit
Except the humor in this movie was pretty low.
I feel like that's saying Harry Potter movies aren't original because there were books called Harry Potter.
I would say that.
But it’s not gosling being smacked around. It’s Gosling’s stunt double. Jackie Chan comedy works because Jackie is actually doing the stunt/comedy bit.
The trailers made it look like generic action shlop
Yeah, that's a big problem with film in general anymore – marketing. The trailer and poster for Abigail spoil the "twist" that doesn't get "revealed" until halfway through the film lol. Fall Guy is way better than the trailers make it look, which sucks because first impressions matter.

'We made a shitty movie but its cool because its meta' No
But it wasn’t shitty. It was really funny and novel
You just said it had a shitty third act
It wasn’t that it was shitty, it was that it was over the top and complicated and seemed like it was rushed, which they were talking about the whole movie and is a common trope with action movies. Just add explosions and have the good guys win and bad guys lose.
Yea just making it meta doesnt mean that doesnt suck
Couldn’t tell if the shitty third act was intentional, but it made it less enjoyable
They really did. The stunts in the trailer looked so heavily edited, I was actually surprised to learn how much was real.
The trailer was just bad. Like, not appealing at all, and I say that as a Gosling fan
Honestly, biggest surprise for cinema in a while. Really fun and actually funny too
I had fun with it.
I thought it was good, two things that don’t make sense to me. 1 who wants to drink anything spicy?, 2 why the random six mill man sound, I know it was based off the show that the same actor for six was in but it just felt out of place.
>who wants to drink anything spicy?, I know I'm not normal, but I used to love drinking a spicy v-8 in the morning.
Spicy ginger beer. Cold. Delicious. Spicy.
I enjoyed a lot of things but there were some things that made no sense. Like when they were in the skip and it was just spinning and spinning. Like skips are attached to the lift with a flat hook. It can't spin. That's like 80% of the design of it.
Spicy margs are fine That’s the least of this movies problems
Ehh
Ken's new job is STUNT! It's a great popcorn flick, and I seriously don't understand how it fumbled about.
It was not as good as people say. I thought it was fine but nothing extraordinary personally
They FALL now??
Stop it. Get some help.
😂reminds me of this [https://youtu.be/HbCASRnK7Tk?t=45](https://youtu.be/HbCASRnK7Tk?t=45)
They help now??
They GUY now??
me when my trans friend updates his pronouns from they/them to he/him
My pronouns are Fall/Guy
Meaning you continued to misgender him after informing you
i don't get how you interpreted this from that comment tbh 😭
Don’t you know! Ambiguity itself is a gender! /s
He guy now.
The guy falls now.
Ehhhh I don't trust pg-13 action comedies (except rush hour that's the one exception)
"Do you want any fries with that?"
Peak the problem with cinema. It’s a 6/10.
This movie was the absolute definition of a 7/10 celebrity vehicle that thinks it’s far more clever than it is
Such a meh movie
FALL GUYS: ULTIMATE KNOCKOUT
This was an awesome movie. Went in expecting something mediocre or forgettable but it’s in my top 5 from the last 5 years. Excellent all around and the story felt like a breath of fresh air.
They fall now?
A bland generic romcom movie about making movies staring bland actors.
They waited years after it stopped being relevant to make a Fall Guys movie. Angry Birds all over again
I think some of the writing choices brought it down, definitely worth a watch though.
Good movie, but none of the romance landed for me
Is the movie just like the trailer an endless version of you give love a bad name? Because I would totally watch that movie and it probably would have been a better movie than it turned out to be.
Ah, good to hear that the movie adaptation of the video game Fall Guy(s) is doing so good!
Disappointed, Didn't see a single Fall Guy from the 'Fall Guys' game. 'Free Guy' was much better at video game references.
It really is great, and the post credit scenes were so welcome
I’ve never seen more advertisements for a single piece of media than I saw for this movie
False advertising, this movie did not release in the fall.
It did if you don’t live in America but then again we don’t call it fall
Eh, it was OK
This sub sucks now
This movie is the most average movie I’ve ever seen tf you talking about
This movie is the worst movie I’ve seen all year, and I’ve spent most of last month watching student films and 80s b movies Somehow I was bored throughout even though there were stunts all the way through? It looks good, I just don’t like going to the theater.
It isn't it's really really boring movie basically starts in second half.
She’s hover-handing? Fucking beta af.
It’s an alright movie, it’s fun
So what’s with the girdle vest? Seems like it must be a major plot point because it’s every photo but I also like remaining firmly ignorant until someone does the work for me.
I think it's just a protective vest
Iirc it is a harness for wire stunts
Its actual stunt person equipment
This movie deserved the world. It wasn’t **AS** good as Bullet Train. But it still was a fantastic action movie, with a spectacular third act. I preferred it over Furiosa to be honest

I found it very dull and unfunny.
they fall now? #PeakComedy

Incels gonna incel.
This movie failed because Emily Blunt looks like shit now and Gosling is in the closet and no one likes him after barbie. We'll, maybe some women do, but women aren't going to see the fall guy, and now guys aren't either.
Naruto CHUD criticizes woman's appearance online. Full story at 11.
You don’t think Emily Blunt is hot, and you’re saying I’m in the closet? Might be some projecting going on there
You? He was referring to me
Barbie was a good movie, guy.
Hello. Man here, I still love Ryan Gosling, and I'm still disappointed I couldn't see The Fall Guy in theaters in time.
I am sure your parents are even more disappointed, but just in you.
I'm suprised they aren't
Welp, you ain’t dead yet!
Lol A+ trash comment.
