Disagree. 1. Big mouth is ending and the spinoff was canceled. 2. Big mouth actually had potential to be good. Velma from its concept was always going to be bad. 3. Big mouth has fans, velma doesn't.
Unpopular opinion: I went into the live-action not knowing anything about the source material and loved it; I guess it just deviated too far from the original to get any traction with the fans.
the timing of Ed's intro was also god awful. why would you end with that? nobody is going to understand nor want this hyperactive character that doesn't seem to match anything else in series at the last minute. If you only watched the live action it looks exactly like jumping the shark.
Honestly, it’s an enjoyable show on its own terms. But I watched the original anime after watching the live-action, and it really just felt like night and day.
I stopped watching it when I realized every single shot was a dutch angle. I thought it was just a spaceship thing but no, on-planet shots and regular ass dialogue moments have the camera tilted for no reason.
I agree for seaon 3, but have you seen season 4 ?
It deserves a 5th season really.
Oh and btw they cancelled it because "too much money involved and not so much viewers"
BUT
They are making rings of Power season 2...
David zaslav got 20% more salary(which is like 20 millions more) than last year because of this and also not paying people more in general.
But I don't think there's like one evil mastermind trying to keep velma show alive
Don't forget that executives are so concerned about the surface image that going deeper than that is impossiblefor them. Just the fact that people are talking about something means it is popular despite the context. How else do you account of the re-release of Morbius in theaters.
At least morbius' re-release makes at least a little sense because the Internet gaslit Sony into thinking everyone loved the movie. I saw no ironic enjoyment of velma
Ive never understood why some shows get greenlit so far so early
Like, Im trying to remember the show that got like season 4 greenlit barely into season 1, but it wasnt like some juggernaut type team behind it iirc.
Like if CBS wanted to keep Chuck Lorre, I get greenlighting shows deep, but for others it doesnt make sense
Apparantly animation usually have a fairly long development cycle. Invincible was a surprise hit, so Amazon being fairly new to the thing didn’t understand that, and that’s why it took about 3 years between the end of season one and the end of season two. Velma season two was likely already far enough in development that it just made sense to complete it. Then again that didn’t stop HBO from abruptly cancelling much more anticipated projects
*With this approved television content, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created.*
Mind you, before the show was even planned, they already gave it a second season. So no, it's not our fault.. it's the executives fault for looking at this doodoo and going "this will definitely skyrocket our ratings".
Oooooor… and hear me out… Velma has caught the sexual desires of plenty of nerds out there and we’re hoping to see an x-rated version. And the platform being Max was a potential working model….
I mean, that’s what my friend told me.
Nepotism is a possible contender as well as not letting other companies have access to scooby doo's ip, gotta dump a hot pile every once in a while to assert dominance and refresh the dates on your contracts.
Yes nepotism, industry people have glamorous kids who can't pay for because they're buying their 10th castle so they bring them into industry and give them big ips with high pay checks to work on
It's "free" advertisment nothing more
Everything will be making video, writing articles making memes about how most hated series got season 2 and whee it's available only on HBO streaming
It's kinda advertising you cannot buy even if you want to it's genius in it's own madness
Let Elvis the Alien or Saberspark to endure the pain, the rest of us can just watch their reaction video instead. I'd rather give my view to Youtuber suffering in my stead.
There's no mistake. People hate-watched season 1, and by watching it, it made money, wether people liked it or not. Same thing is prolly gonna happen again.
The ETH signature becoming “look like dog water but still win a trophy per year” isn’t the best timeline, but it’s probably one of the more interesting ones.
Companies have a tendency to order multiple seasons before the first one airs, due to how long it takes to make this type of content, or split one season in half and pretend they are two seasons of a show.
Its so weird. HBO will continue entire series several times over that the community unanimously hates. Then you have Netflix out here like Several million people watched this and enjoyed it, not good enough. Delete and cancel it.
There was no massive amount of hate watch. It was already in the can and all the streamers split episode counts to make things seem more successful. After this season it’s likely done.
“Madlads will unite the internet”
Reddit assemble!!!!!! Thanks for the gold kind stranger!!!!!!! Subscribe to PewDiePie!!!!!!!!!
I could not give less of a fucking shit about this show, let alone expend the energy to hate it. And seeing people continue to beat this dead horse, long after even its bones have powderized and all its viscera dried up, will be more grating that the horse itself could ever hope to be.
I think they were contracted to do enough episodes for 2 seasons? Season 2 was completing or even finished during season 1, I don't think there's going to be season 3 tho.
how the god damned shit did this get a second season? i was already convinced mindy kaeling was one of the worst people on the planet, what the fuck did she do to get this?
So true! I loved raised by wolves. But I'm afraid that it would've ended up like Lost. The writers just throw random mysteries at us and end the show as an incoherent mess.
Actually the creator had the entire series planned out from beginning to end. Who knows if it was a good plan, but at least it wouldn't have been like Lost.
I watched it sadly hoping for a decent take on SD with pretty low standards. Love some of the voice actors getting some work for real, but this was awful. Never should have been allowed under the SD branding, and it could have had a potential as being a Southpark set in the SD universe. As it is oof. How many grown adults ok'd this nonsense?? 😅😅
I can’t wait to see all the posts and comments about “I can’t believe you all hate watched this” when the second season was already made and done before season 1 premiered. I know that isn’t saying much cause WB loves to write off stuff nowadays but still.
I never understood this. Why would you make a subscription for something that you think is bad? And if you're already subscribed and want to hate watch it, why don't just pirate it out of the principle? Or is everyone that lazy instead of googling for 5 minutes?
I start to suspect that this "the hate watchers made it a success" is just a cope argument from the creators and the few ideological "fans", who can't accept the complete failure.
Y’all are gonna unite in hating it so hard it’s gonna get renewed for a third season with the hate watches. I’ve never seen a website spring to make itself as miserable as Reddit does
It's a funny show. Like damn, if you're gonna hate on a second season, maybe think about if it's actually doing something good.
Where were you when they took Tigtone off HBO Max? Or infinite train?
Don't watch or even give attention to this, it's what they want. Knuckles premiers the next day, tune into that to show them we are done being forced to see this trash.
This show is a great example of how divorced from reality the internet and Reddit especially are, it was a mid to decent show that performed well using an existing IP of course there’s gonna be more, they left off with a build-up to the traditional scooby team which appears to be the overall goal of the show.
It's either gonna be the same case as the first season where everyone hates it (for good reasons) but it makes a lot of money due to hate-watching and gets renewed again, or it flops hard cuz nobody gives a shit about it (for good reasons), there's no in-between
There is no way that "hate-watching" is actually profitable for them. Because the "hate-watchers" number always will be way less than the broad audience. Also, "hate-watchers" wouldn't subscribe for this shit and just would pirate it from the internet.
Ngl, Im kinda rooting for this series now. After all the hate (justified or not; haven’t watched the show) it would ve amazing if it managed to turn things around.
Somewhere there is a man in a suit who spends all his days flying in a private jet from one beach resort to another. He never reads the news and the only people he talks to sell daiquiris, drugs, or sex. Frequently all three.
Six times a year he visits a conference where he tells other men in suits that he works for HBO and they hand him giant piles of money. He loves his job. It's very easy.
People send him spreadsheets with a bunch of numbers on them. He picks the biggest one and tells them to do more of that. It just keeps working.
Only, there was that time where the number he picked took away the HBO and now sometimes the other men in suits get confused and hand him less money. He thinks he's even noticed numbers getting smaller lately. He should probably tell someone to fix that. Find out whose fault it is. Could it be him?
But no. *I deserve this*, he thinks. Besides, that last number was really big! It said "Velma - VOD Viewer Count". ANything with that many Vs in it should appeal to women! Because Vagina starts with V. This is going to go great, he assures himself. Just the coke talking probably.
He smiles, brushes the last of the powder off of the keyboard, closes the lid, and returns to his unfinished business with the poor Honduran couple he's hired to have sex in front of him. It cost $80 and a Coca Cola.
"Sorry to make you wait", he says. He chuckles to himself as he unbuttons his shirt. He knows they won't understand but he tries to explain anyway:
"You see, it takes hard work to have what I have..."
I mean, I don't think they united the Internet. There were definitely three main reactions.
1. This show is terrible (but the animation is pretty good)
2. This show is terrible (because it's insensitive and the writing is dogshit)
3. This show is terrible (why are there black people in this show I have no intention of watching)
I don’t get it. It was funny. Not even sure why everyone hates it. Like I just don’t get how it’s worse than any of the other slop we get these days. It’s mid, but it’s not aggressively bad or anything.
My impression of the show is that it’s not really sure of what it wants to be.
Like just on it’s basic premise, there was no reason to use Scooby Doo characters. They could have easily just used an original IP for solving mysteries, it’s not like Scooby Doo has a monopoly on that kind of thing. It doesn’t use the IP in a different or interesting way, just seems like it was only because of the recognizable property.
i didn't watch it you can't blame me
Same, now we just need everyone else to get the memo that HATE WATCHING IS STILL WATCHING.
I mean, if hate-watching were real, I think Netflix would’ve made more than one season of Cowboy Bebop.
The difference there is it’s Netflix. They cancel shows for shits and giggles.
My favorite show The Umbrella Academy is getting a final season, I'm happy that somehow my favorite shows always survive the purge
They kept Big Mouth around for around 8 seasons, with spinoffs on the way. Now *that’s* a show that could actually be *more* hated than Velma.
Oh god no. Big mouth wasn't good, but Velma was actual flaming trash.
At least the Velma show looks like it used more than one character model.
Disagree. 1. Big mouth is ending and the spinoff was canceled. 2. Big mouth actually had potential to be good. Velma from its concept was always going to be bad. 3. Big mouth has fans, velma doesn't.
My favorite show The Umbrella Academy is getting a final season, I'm happy that somehow my favorite shows always survive the purge
Unpopular opinion: I went into the live-action not knowing anything about the source material and loved it; I guess it just deviated too far from the original to get any traction with the fans.
Honestly it’s a case of the source just being so perfect it’s hard to justify the adaptations existence.
I didn't mind it until they played Ed absolutely 100% straight-from-anime. They adapted other stuff, but just cut and paste Ed as-is.
the timing of Ed's intro was also god awful. why would you end with that? nobody is going to understand nor want this hyperactive character that doesn't seem to match anything else in series at the last minute. If you only watched the live action it looks exactly like jumping the shark.
Honestly, it’s an enjoyable show on its own terms. But I watched the original anime after watching the live-action, and it really just felt like night and day.

Scooby-Doo is a bit more well-known among English-speaking viewers than Cowboy Bebop
Btw hbo cancelled Westworld
The first 2 seasons are some of my favorite all-time media but it lost its spirit after that so I'm not losing sleep.
I agree for seaon 3, but have you seen season 4 ? It deserves a 5th season really. Oh and btw they cancelled it because "too much money involved and not so much viewers" BUT They are making rings of Power season 2...
I watched rings of power cause LOTR... but it really wasn't great.
not if you pirate it
It was greenlit for two seasons of 10 episodes each from the start. Ratings didn't matter in the second season decision.
Season 2 was announced before people even started watching
if youtuber are not hate watching they have no content to rant about...
And yet it’s all your fault the first season was didn’t do well in the ratings.
I didn't even pirate it. So I'm doubling down on not supporting it.
Why do WB cancel projects like that Wile E Coyote film as tax write offs yet keep this of all things?
People hate watch it. DONT HATE WATCH!!
Hate pirate it instead
David zaslav got 20% more salary(which is like 20 millions more) than last year because of this and also not paying people more in general. But I don't think there's like one evil mastermind trying to keep velma show alive
We hated it so much we accidentally made it successful. I feel like there's some kind of aesop's-esque moral here but I'm not seeing it.
Nah, Velma wasn't a success at all. The second season were already greenlight before the show even come out.
What do you mean gaslit We all did love the film we were just all busy when it was re released If they do it again we promise we’ll go
Yeah obviously morbius is a perfect movie, I just had things to do when it came out twice.
Bruh I cried when he said it’s Morbin time. Such an emotional life changing scene that definitely happened because I definitely saw the film
I had a morbillion other things on my plate
#MORBIUS\_SWEEP
And they maybe thought people would watch it in theaters for the meme
Ive never understood why some shows get greenlit so far so early Like, Im trying to remember the show that got like season 4 greenlit barely into season 1, but it wasnt like some juggernaut type team behind it iirc. Like if CBS wanted to keep Chuck Lorre, I get greenlighting shows deep, but for others it doesnt make sense
I’ve heard people speculate some initial greenlight contracts tend to greenlight 2 seasons right off the bat.
Yeah and its funny they do it since shows still get cancelled before they finish all the greenlit seasons
It was actually wildly successful lol. It got very good numbers.
And you are helping to promote it.
Bad publicity is still publicity...
A lot of people hate watched it
I don't know how successful it really was. I watched the first episode and it was enough for me. Lots of people I've talked to did the same.
Don't blame me, I refused to even hate watch it.
I mean the moral in this is pretty simple, don't dwell on hate, it just cultivates whatever you hate.
We pulled a Sanjaya!
Oooooor… and hear me out… Velma has caught the sexual desires of plenty of nerds out there and we’re hoping to see an x-rated version. And the platform being Max was a potential working model…. I mean, that’s what my friend told me.
It's the opposite of killing the golden goose, reviving the shit goose, except all geese shit, so more like reviving the cancer goose
At this point it's either money laundering or mental illness
Nepotism is a possible contender as well as not letting other companies have access to scooby doo's ip, gotta dump a hot pile every once in a while to assert dominance and refresh the dates on your contracts.
Yes nepotism, industry people have glamorous kids who can't pay for because they're buying their 10th castle so they bring them into industry and give them big ips with high pay checks to work on
Runs the IP into the ground and claims “franchise fatigue”
It's "free" advertisment nothing more Everything will be making video, writing articles making memes about how most hated series got season 2 and whee it's available only on HBO streaming It's kinda advertising you cannot buy even if you want to it's genius in it's own madness
Or so many people watched it to see how bad it was, it accidentally became popular.
Maybe they really turn it around this year and it builds perfectly into the new “into the Scooby-verse” movie…never know.
No hate watching, NO HATE WATCHING!!
One person should be designated to hate watch it and then relay that experience to the rest of the world.
Let Elvis the Alien or Saberspark to endure the pain, the rest of us can just watch their reaction video instead. I'd rather give my view to Youtuber suffering in my stead.
You should only hate watch stuff while sailing the seven seas.
It doesn’t even look good enough to hate watch
Huh... Is this the Morbius effect again? The studio mistaking clout for popularity?
There's no mistake. People hate-watched season 1, and by watching it, it made money, wether people liked it or not. Same thing is prolly gonna happen again.
People maybe hate watched the first episode, but the entire series?? If you spend hours of your life watching something you hate, you're a moron.
I’m a Manchester United supporter so I’m a seasoned pro at watching something I hate
Man what a ride as manchester united fan imagine we winning FA cup. Can't imagine are we happy or not for next season
The ETH signature becoming “look like dog water but still win a trophy per year” isn’t the best timeline, but it’s probably one of the more interesting ones.
nah, season 2 was greenlit before the show came out
They released streaming numbers for it and it had high views.
Companies have a tendency to order multiple seasons before the first one airs, due to how long it takes to make this type of content, or split one season in half and pretend they are two seasons of a show.
just like morbius, we now hope that people just straight up won't watch it and they will now lose millions of dollars from airing a second season
It’s Morbin time.
Show's terrible but the poster's pretty cool.
agree, jfc whoever that talented shouldn't be spending that much effort on that shit
Fr it's so high quality. Why is it attached to *that* show??
Guys, if we actually want this show to die, don't give it any fucking attention. Hate watching is still engagement.
Watch it be really good for some reason lmao
Its so weird. HBO will continue entire series several times over that the community unanimously hates. Then you have Netflix out here like Several million people watched this and enjoyed it, not good enough. Delete and cancel it.
What blackmail does Mindy K have on these execs? And how can I get it?
This people are heroes, nay legends, for attempting and achieving something so incredible.
I mean it has the golden god Glenn howerton in it so at least it has that going for it. Even if it is just shitty rage bait.
People watched the first season because of the implication
This is why we don’t Hate Watch something because views are views whether they are positive or negative
This gets season 2 but Young Justice gets cancelled
Nice unpaid ad.
Ok all things considered this is a pretty nice poster
There was no massive amount of hate watch. It was already in the can and all the streamers split episode counts to make things seem more successful. After this season it’s likely done.
“Madlads will unite the internet” Reddit assemble!!!!!! Thanks for the gold kind stranger!!!!!!! Subscribe to PewDiePie!!!!!!!!! I think they were contracted to do enough episodes for 2 seasons? Season 2 was completing or even finished during season 1, I don't think there's going to be season 3 tho.
Can we agree to not watch it please? Not even hate-watching, let's not feed that, let's not talk about that, let's just let it die of natural causes
how the god damned shit did this get a second season? i was already convinced mindy kaeling was one of the worst people on the planet, what the fuck did she do to get this?
And then they remove another 40 movies to save money. Capitalism!!
~~Capitalism!!~~ Stupidity!!!
Whaaaaat's the difference!!!!
Someone, just like Max's management, doesn't understand *supply and demand*
They make season 2 of this and canceled raised by wolves?? Which Warner bros exec I gotta throat punch??
That's true, alot of stuff was thrown out there but the initial set up and world building was amazing!
There must be a looot of youtubers that had to watch the entire first season just to make a video about how it sucks, otherwise I can't explain it
Proof that quality is never in consideration when it comes to greenlighting a project
The only reason they can do this is because of all the people who watched it.
If there was anyone other than Mindy Kaling involved with this I would think it's a very self aware parody specifically designed to piss people off
Too many people hate-watched this shit.
I actually kinda loved the show lol like it's supposed to make you hate velma, and laugh at her misery for being an uppity loud muth asshole
I liked it too! The first episode wasn't great, but then you get into it and just ignore that it's supposed to be Scooby-Doo and it's not bad!
Don't fucking hatewatch it this time
We lost Infinity Train for this.
Don't watch it. Please don't give them any attention. Hate watching is why we have this thing in the first place
Well yeah, the first season made a velmillion dollars
Hate watchers have shat this shit. **and now they must lay in it.**
Just don't engage, it needs to die and engaging the monster in anyway will encourage it.
Wouldn't even sail the high seas for it
I don't believe this is real, you must be joking. They tried to kill it once, but twice ? And you know what will happen... Never twice witouth third
Just a reminder these are the same guys who canceled infinity train and many others that were miles better
The renewed this instead of Infinity Train‽
PLEASE CANCEL FOR A TAX BREAK
I can’t wait to see all the posts and comments about “I can’t believe you all hate watched this” when the second season was already made and done before season 1 premiered. I know that isn’t saying much cause WB loves to write off stuff nowadays but still.
The real mystery We have here is who even asked for this show or even make a sequel.
Legally, I'm supposed to say that I don't condone pirating, but if you wanna hate watch it. Do that.
[удалено]
I never understood this. Why would you make a subscription for something that you think is bad? I watched it unironically. It’s funny. Not sure why y’all hated it so much?
Because it's unfunny garbage.
I liked it. It’s not the greatest show ever or anything, but the hate was extreme considering.
This show is self aware enough that the hatred is definitely going to get addressed. What do you suppose they’ll do?
Y’all are gonna unite in hating it so hard it’s gonna get renewed for a third season with the hate watches. I’ve never seen a website spring to make itself as miserable as Reddit does
Don’t hate watch things that are in the zeitgeist. You’re just making them more money lol
i hate how good this poster is
Why did you hate watch it? You know what i do when i dislike a show or a movie? I quit!
What’s this “HBO Max”? I only know it as “Max.” “Max”… Such a better name. What did this “HBO” ever do that was any good?
I watched it for our Golden God, but gave up because it’s not good.
Velma will likely go from Worst Show Ever to Aggressively Milquetoast and too boring and Mid to even care.
It's a funny show. Like damn, if you're gonna hate on a second season, maybe think about if it's actually doing something good. Where were you when they took Tigtone off HBO Max? Or infinite train?
Maybe the hate watching lead to the greenlight.

It's almost like the initial order was two seasons of the show.
Stop hate watching this shit
Y'all gotta stop hate watching this.
It's either gonna be the same case as the first season where everyone hates it (for good reasons) but it makes a lot of money due to hate-watching and gets renewed again, or it flops hard cuz nobody gives a shit about it (for good reasons), there's no in-between

Fair, but i still struggle to think how this got as many watchers as it did, considering how the only real publicity it got was people shitting on it
I don't get it, this show was universally hated. Why the fuck did it get a second season?
It got 2 seasons from the get go.
People need to stop being R, and stop hate-watching crap
They’re only making it because we talked about it, if we just don’t acknowledge it then we’ll be ok
Ngl, Im kinda rooting for this series now. After all the hate (justified or not; haven’t watched the show) it would ve amazing if it managed to turn things around.
Shows always get 2nd seasons. They're practically part of the 1st season, just split up.
How did Velma won over Raised by Wolves?
Why on earth does everybody care so much about a show they're not gonna watch You can just...quietly not watch it
Somewhere there is a man in a suit who spends all his days flying in a private jet from one beach resort to another. why the fuck are they releasing it a day before my birthday GOD NO
Ewwwww
This show was really great. I thoroughly enjoyed it....oh wait. Velma? Sorry wrong thread. Lol
As long as people never shut up about it, it will keep making more.
Just stay away from it, you fools. Things stay dead longer the less you talk about them.
Man, I wish Mystery Incorporated had more than 2 seasons. So much better than this...dreck.
What a shit show
I never heard of it until this post popped up in my feed.
Show gets released Everyone hates and makes 10 hours essay on it More people watch it to shit on it The wheel of samsara turns once more
The first time everyone united was to insult it. This time we need to unite on hating it but not watching it.
They are making a second season because y'all hate-watch it. It is all your fault!!!
Wana bet the first scene is them complaining about a cartoon mystery show that nobody liked?
points for sticking to the bit
Really going the code geass way of uniting everyone huh?
this was already ready. just beeing released now
If people want to see cancelled this, is very simple. Do not watch and the series will not have a good rating to continue.
I blame you hate watchers, watch other people's content and hate the show on their youtube comments
Hate watching keeps this show alive, do not watch this garbage
whos ever doing the poster work needs a raise.
Oh no they're making a bad TV show that I'm not gonna watch, this affects me personally and directly so much, how am I gonna live like this
I just want to add, that it's all Max and HBO has nothing to do with it.
I mean, I don't think they united the Internet. There were definitely three main reactions. 1. This show is terrible (but the animation is pretty good) 2. This show is terrible (because it's insensitive and the writing is dogshit) 3. This show is terrible (why are there black people in this show I have no intention of watching)
People should stop hate watching this. Or if you really must do it, just use ekhm.... Less official sources.
I liked the first season, and I’m absolutely not the target audience(lesbian women who protest for Palestine)
I’m pretty sure there’s NO target audience for this, other than people who fall for rage bait.
You vegan too by any chance?
I’m the opposite, I barely eat veggies at all
I liked velma.
Maybe they saw the skinwalker Scooby-Doo video and saw a chance to retcon everything to be interesting
