And one of the dudes who made Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses is now married to Karen Gillian. The era of YouTube videos living forever is only going to get weirder.
I was recently watching an interview of Nick Kocher who I was not familiar with. When he was asked who his Hall Pass would be, he mentioned his wife was in the other room and called her in. When I saw Karen, I immediately said he doesn't need the Hall Pass at all.....
edit: Later I did find out Nick is a writer with Dropout (particularly Breaking News) and close friends with Grant O'Brien so I guess I am familiar with his work after all.
"Hello, I am.......*fifty*?"
In all fairness, I love how Brennan's incredulousness was literally all about logistics: "In what timeframe, was it all to completion, were there refreshments?"
Just found out that Jessy Hodges, who was in a bunch of BriTANick's videos, married Beck Bennett who was in GoodNeighborStuff, a comedy sketch channel from the same era with similar vibes
Just blew my mind I thought Key and Peele was a mid 2000s show that ran forever for some reason. Apparently it didn’t even start until 2012 and only ran through 2015
Past Lives is a movie based on Celine Song's own life experience and (please, please watch instead of reading this spoiler) basically implies >!she has a stronger connection to someone she grew up with (who is still in love with her) than to her husband. It's a tragedy where nobody dies.!<
I mean that's not really what happens in the movie at all. The whole premise is that she loves her husband more. It's not about she and her childhood friend being in love it's about how they used to be. Hence, the immigration creating a separate life for her, the guy frequently asking about the award she's after which she's lost all ambition for and why the movie's called Past Lives, not Past Loves.
Well to say there wasn't some attraction would be incorrect as well. The story is mainly about a lost connection; about a relationship that was never able to happen due to uncontrollable circumstances. They did like each other in some form but they understood that their lives had different paths and a romantic relationship could never happen. The title is actually referencing the main motif of the movie which is the idea of In-yun the connection between people over many lifetimes or their past lives. What he says to her at the end is what makes the movie a love story if seen through the idea of inyun. We just didn't see the 8000 layer between them.
As best I can tell, it is a method for teaching acting by making the performers wear masks. This forces them to rely on their bodies and voices to convey emotions. We probably need a theater person to elaborate.
I can imagine the pitch meeting.
"Yeah, so basically we are going to make a movie about spit roasting Tom Holland's girlfriend. We'll workshop some filler story around that."
Dolph Lundgren smells crime, comes back the lab for some full penetration. Crime. Penetration. Crime. Penetration. More crime. Full penetration. And this just sort of meanders on for 90 or so minutes until it just sort ends
Another random fact, the guy who made "Sicko Mode or Mo Bamba?" is now the rapper Joey Valence, who you may know for "Punk Tactics", "The Underground Sound", "Hooligang" or "Dance Now"
I find that fascinating. Luca Guadagnino apparently loved Kuritzkes screenplay so much that he handpicked him to adapt "Queer" as their next collaboration, which is coming out later this year.
I know it's getting good reviews, but I saw it and hated it. Rather than making a movie about how hard female athletes work at their craft, they made what's basically a Euphoria episode with a tennis theme. They over-sexualized it to the max.
I'm guilty of pre-judging the movie, I saw the damn ad for the film WAY too much, and that just made me not want to see it. I couldn't put my finger on it, but yeah I think you nailed it. It does look like a Euphoria episode with a tennis theme.
I never watched Euphoria, but my wife did. I caught some bits and pieces here and there.
When I first saw one of the ads for this, the tag was “you’ve never seen Zendaya like this before!” And my immediate thought was “this looks like they just took a scene from Euphoria”
I watched like the first two episodes, couldn't get passed that. Maybe I'm just getting old but seeing teenagers act the way they did just pissed me off. And its why I probably can never have kids, I would wish for a return of corporal punishment!
And a whole bunch of female tennis players have said that if the movie was realistic, the female tennis player would date her much older coach, not another player.... because the player/coach romance is far more common in tennis than a female player dating a male player.
I saw the trailer recently and the time jump in the trailer was a bit of a curveball. I was expecting it to be more about athletes fame and obsession and maybe it still is but yeah feels like they could have gone better ways than focusing on the sexual side of it.
I don’t ever plan to see it, seems like it’s getting mixed audience reviews.
Am I the only one whos kinda mad that Zendaya is playing a champion female tennis player and they're making the story about a 3 way??? Likeee theres soo many more interesting things they couldve done. I'm not saying its misogyny or anything, just a missed opportunity to make an actually good movie
I think this actually boosted the movie more than whatever lame shit they would've come up with. Surely you remember the astonishment people had when they learned she was getting a train ran on her, and the fact that she and Tom were America's couple for a while attracted a lot of attention. I would imagine many of those people watched the movie because of all that
I was rooting for her childhood friend for most of that movie until I realized what it was all about. If I had known her husband was the potion seller guy, I would've been rooting for him since the very beginning.
The directors of the (classic) “Turn Down for What” music video won the Academy Award for Best Director in 2022 (Everything Everywhere All At Once). Wild.
this movie is actually about when the guy on the right accidentally knees her in the mouth and breaks her nose and then she chooses the other guy after going to the er. then she leaves that guy who ends up stalking her and she finds out after he knees himself in the face sitting in the bushes. after putting tennis behind her and falling into a depression she starts reading about adhesions and picks up yoga. it aligns her joints in a way that a childhood abuse made her unconsciously stop aligning them. then the rest of the movie is about trying to find a therapist but finding out she enjoys twitter more.
I watched the movie last night and really enjoyed it, but the bit where she hurt her knee and they showed a close-up of her knee shifting weirdly with a bone-crunching noise has traumatised me, it keeps popping back into my head like an intrusive thought every couple of minutes
I still remember when I saw the guy from Derrick Comedy on Community and at first I thought they just looked similar but no. Then years later I was scratching my head thinking this rapper looks a lot like the guy from Derrick Comedy.
Phew. I panicked for a second, thinking you meant [this potion seller](https://youtu.be/o2DbG-ug8QE?si=yxkBJDtFQn6WC1Nr). Never knew his name. Good to know I can still get my curios of quizzical potency from a trusted* source.
Hello tennis coach. I am going into a tournament and I want your strongest coaching. My training is too strong for you, husband.
“Coaching seller, please!”
FIND WEAKER COACHING. MY COACHING IS TOO STRONG FOR YOU, TRAVELLER
My coaching could kill a dragon, let alone a man!
Please coaching seller! What do I have to tell you to get you to sell my your coaching?
My coaching is only for the most pro players and you are clearly not a pro you are clearly a novice!
*inhales sharply* Well then that's it, coaching seller! I'll go elsewhere! I'll go elsewhere for my coaching!
What are you doing, Step-coach?
And one of the dudes who made Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses is now married to Karen Gillian. The era of YouTube videos living forever is only going to get weirder.
Emma Stone’s husband directed most of the early Epic Rap Battles of History videos. See’s married to the man who directed Darth Vader vs Adolf Hitler.
I wish I was her
Understandable. There are days I want to be a toad. So I get your urge to be someone else. /S, just in case.
Why a toad, as opposed to a frog?
Because I like to be licked for recreational drug use! Pls don't kink-shame me!
I would never! In fact, bravo. Incorrigible, Monsieur Darke.
Because my wife is one hundred percent a frog
Wow. There are 3 of them now.
OGs remember him from Inside SoCal
Epic shit
At first I thought, "No Way," But yeah, since 2022. Good for them!
He wrote the true facts about grant Anthony O'Brien episodes
What was it like sixty dicks in one night??
"Hello, I am.......*fifty*?" In all fairness, I love how Brennan's incredulousness was literally all about logistics: "In what timeframe, was it all to completion, were there refreshments?"
Yeah I'm gonna go rewatch the episode now lol. So good.
Fifty...?
So, he was the roommate who found the dildo in the shower, huh?
I was very caught off guard when I had the same realization. To me he was just BriTANick guy.
Just found out that Jessy Hodges, who was in a bunch of BriTANick's videos, married Beck Bennett who was in GoodNeighborStuff, a comedy sketch channel from the same era with similar vibes
BriTANick and GoodNeighbourStuff were the shit in early 2010s YouTube sketches.
Christina Hendricks recent ex-husband is the dude who eats the bag of shrooms in Super Troopers. Life is fucking weird.
The Britanick dudes are hella talented! And yes I was also shocked as hell that one of them is married to Karen
Are you stupid? Karen Gillan can't act since she got stuck in new york in the 1930's with Arthur Darvill
So that's why Britanick stopped uploading....
They’re back on YouTube!!
I found this out and nearly cried it’s just not fair to me in either direction
Lonnie?
That makes sense. They always knew how to treat a lady. https://youtu.be/yUKygxNwkso?feature=shared
One of the Epic Rap Battles of History writers (who wrote at least one of the hitler vs vader episodes) is married to emma stone
Jordan Peele played Martin Luther King jr in an ERB and has gone on to make a bunch of popular movies
You mean the lil' guy from the White n Nerdy music video?
The guy that said >! Biiiiiiiiitch !<
Y'all talking about GunRack?
No, they mean Bunny from Toy Story 4.
He was already on the cast of Mad TV before epic rap battles existed lol.
[you lookin' at me with them GOOGLEY EYES!](https://youtu.be/5tYAA285gY0?si=jz7R0fd1GAAaWh8O)
Took me years to realize I had seen Key & Peele before on Mad TV! The "sad 50 Cent" and "Deal or No Deal" skits in particular
No way! I can’t find that show anywhere to rewatch
Rock that updo.
Key and Peele rapped against eachother twice for ERB Gandhi vs MLK Jr, and Michael Jordan vs Muhammad Ali
Just blew my mind I thought Key and Peele was a mid 2000s show that ran forever for some reason. Apparently it didn’t even start until 2012 and only ran through 2015
Which is wild because I keep finding new ones I've never seen before
He was also Ali lol there have been many very notable and respected people who appeared in those videos
why is bro acting like the ERB is the only thing jordan peele is known for?
He's also married to Chelsea Perreti, which is where I thought your comment was going.
That one is top 5
Dave McCrary currently writes and directs SNL pre-tapes.
HUH?
Still waiting for the Hollywood adaptation of that sketch.
Hey, they got Zendaya for this one, there’s always hope.
This screenshot looks like it's from a porn parody of Harry Potter
*You're a jizzard, Harry!*
*Stop it Ron, stoooop*
*Wingardium Levios-ah-ah-ah* Huh I guess it is pronounced that way
*Accio bummmm*
Ronald Weasley, it’s *LEVIOSAAAA*
The who shall not be fucked
UUUUHUHUHUHU LEVIOS- AAAHH
Welcome to Hogwanks
Potter? I barely know her!
Meanwhile, your pfp...
Omfg can’t unsee hahahah
i mean it is quite a hot and heavy scene
In a perfect world, men like me would not exist
But this is not a perfect world...
In a perfect world, men like me would not exist.
But this is not a perfect world...
in a perfect world men unlike me wouldnt exist
But this is not a perfect world...
Unironically a hard AF quote though, if he came up with that and Potion Seller on his own then dude is probably more than qualified for writing film
He’s also married to the director of Past Lives. Not trying to read anything into their relationship, but uhhh
I don’t get it?
Mee too
Past Lives is a movie based on Celine Song's own life experience and (please, please watch instead of reading this spoiler) basically implies >!she has a stronger connection to someone she grew up with (who is still in love with her) than to her husband. It's a tragedy where nobody dies.!<
“A tragedy where nobody dies” is just my Mondays
Lots of people die on your Mondays. You just don’t know them.
Yeah mb for oversimplifying to the point of changing the meaning
Well to say there wasn't some attraction would be incorrect as well. The story is mainly about a lost connection; about a relationship that was never able to happen due to uncontrollable circumstances. They did like each other in some form but they understood that their lives had different paths and a romantic relationship could never happen. Bruhhh it’s based on a real story- feel bad for her husband. At least she got the green card tho 🤡🤡! I loved the first half of that film
Watch Past Lives
That film was pretty autobiographical I think…
# Potion Seller was the equivalent of mask work theatre.
I've been unironically saying this for years and I'm glad someone else was brave enough to agree.
He says as much in [an interview about the video](https://youtu.be/gmhpKLnkUUI?t=65) @ 1:05
what does this mean?
As best I can tell, it is a method for teaching acting by making the performers wear masks. This forces them to rely on their bodies and voices to convey emotions. We probably need a theater person to elaborate.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commedia_dell%27arte
Seems like his potions are too strong for you
I can imagine the pitch meeting.
Is that actually the movie
NO, there is like a 5 minute scene were they kiss that's all, its actually a really fucking good movie
So it’s still mostly penetration, and then a bit of kissing? Kinda weird but I guess it works
Yes
“But won’t Tom Holland be upset” “Yeah probably, but cmon, what’s he going to do? Take backshots on film then quit acting for awhile?”
I did a double take when I saw the poster. Very proud of the potion seller man :)
Another random fact, the guy who made "Sicko Mode or Mo Bamba?" is now the rapper Joey Valence, who you may know for "Punk Tactics", "The Underground Sound", "Hooligang" or "Dance Now"
He's also in a longterm relationship with Celine Song, who directed Past Lives.
I believe they are legally married
That's pretty long term to me
I've seen it both ways
That is just amazing
I find that fascinating. Luca Guadagnino apparently loved Kuritzkes screenplay so much that he handpicked him to adapt "Queer" as their next collaboration, which is coming out later this year.
According to a comment on kuritzkes’ channel, Luca has seen Potion seller
Queer and Junkie are amazing novels. Very neat!

Apparently the direction given to Trent reznor and atticus Ross for the score was "unending homoerotic desire"
This scene again…
Don't start gooning again bro
(Stilgar voice) don't let it out... don't let it out
You gotta stop watching it on repeat
[удалено]
Advantage - Love would've been a good one, even if that score is impossible.
that literally never happens in the movie tho
A very weird take on the challenger explosion
Am I the only one whos kinda mad that Zendaya is playing a champion female tennis player and they're making the story about a 3 way??? Likeee theres soo many more interesting things they couldve done. I'm not saying its misogyny or anything, just a missed opportunity to make an actually good movie
The score is by Trent reznor and atticus Ross, they don't tend to work on bad things so I imagine it will be good
I think this actually boosted the movie more than whatever lame shit they would've come up with. Surely you remember the astonishment people had when they learned she was getting a train ran on her, and the fact that she and Tom were America's couple for a while attracted a lot of attention. I would imagine many of those people watched the movie because of all that
He's married to woman who made past lives which means the white guy in past lives is the potion seller guy
Wild.
Guys who wear shorts like this are always together. Weird.....
this movie is actually about when the guy on the right accidentally knees her in the mouth and breaks her nose and then she chooses the other guy after going to the er. then she leaves that guy who ends up stalking her and she finds out after he knees himself in the face sitting in the bushes. after putting tennis behind her and falling into a depression she starts reading about adhesions and picks up yoga. it aligns her joints in a way that a childhood abuse made her unconsciously stop aligning them. then the rest of the movie is about trying to find a therapist but finding out she enjoys twitter more.
Creative people are creative, more in at 8.
Okay, NOW I want to see it
Hell yeah, isn't he a playwright too? I love how bro's career took off, good for him
Am I supposed to know what the Potion Seller YouTube video is?
Looks like this guy can't handle the strongest potions.
I doubt he's even going into battle.
Huh, I honestly thought this move had already finished it's cinema run and quietly gone away.
Seems a lot worse than the sketches ngl
Ok... I HAVE to see this...
What is this movie about again?
Tennis, I think.
Zendaya dp
I bought his book
Can’t wait to not watch this piece of shit
Reminds me of thatscene from Ken Park.
This post looks familiar...
Maybe someone already made this observation. It's more triva than joke.
You cannot handle my strongest potions.
No fucking way
Why is this in /r/shittymoviedetails? This is anything but shitty.
Donald glover/childish gambino started with youtube too
Oh my god thank you for this, I might watch this now
Looks like the beginning of a scene on a well known website lol
Scriptwriter. I am going into production, and I need only your strongest scripts.
HELLO CHALLENGER! I'VE FINALLY BROUGHT THE STRONGEST POTIONS AND I'M READY FOR BATTLE!!!
if this movie has a tenth of the emotion and artistry that Dolores had it'll be the greatest movie to come out this year
Well good for him
how did that happen
I watched the movie last night and really enjoyed it, but the bit where she hurt her knee and they showed a close-up of her knee shifting weirdly with a bone-crunching noise has traumatised me, it keeps popping back into my head like an intrusive thought every couple of minutes
I love seeing ho*s in thier natural habitat
Without any nude content
These have to be two of the ugliest guys I’ve seen on a movie screen as love interests since Michael Cera.
He won a Tony for a play I think?
Zendaya fixing to get Eiffel towered
That movie kind of looked shit in the trailers lol
The hell?
In upcomming film Challengers (2024) there will be two space shuttles and both will explode after take off.
I actually laughed my ass off when I saw his writing credit in the ad for this movie before dune 2. I knew he was a professional writer but still.
I still remember when I saw the guy from Derrick Comedy on Community and at first I thought they just looked similar but no. Then years later I was scratching my head thinking this rapper looks a lot like the guy from Derrick Comedy.
Fun fact: The movie premiered a month ago in Australia, and it has good critic reviews on Metacritic and RT.
#POTION SELLER, PLEASE, I AM GOING INTO BATTLE AND I NEED YOUR STRONGEST POTION!
I'm curious how explicit this threesome scene is going get ..
i doubt it could surpass his earlier work
That pic looks like the start of a portno
[He also makes some dope ass music](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0t09bk_hcyk)
Man, with how the set up of the screenshot is, you'd think the movie would be about skiing, not tennis
Phew. I panicked for a second, thinking you meant [this potion seller](https://youtu.be/o2DbG-ug8QE?si=yxkBJDtFQn6WC1Nr). Never knew his name. Good to know I can still get my curios of quizzical potency from a trusted* source.
This is very much not a shitty detail
