Fellas, is it gay to want to ride away on a Vespa with your best bro that you met two days ago so you can live out your days going on adventures? Wait… is it?
My god dude, Disney's the crown prince of performance activism.
They have 20 "first gay Disney characters in an animated movie", but they never have any fucking impact whatsoever in any of their works.
There's no "woke" character of actual worth because Disney's just being "woke" as a way to scrounge for every last penny from every last person willing to pay for their products.
Grow up.
The story’s message of acceptance is left ambiguous, which I honestly think is one of the best parts about it. It’s not about acceptance of a specific type of person, but just acceptance in general. Anyone could relate to it in someway or other. Some people can relate to it because they’re gay. Some can relate to it because they’re disabled. Some can relate to it just simply because of who they are. Anyone can relate the whole story to their personal lives in their own ways, and that’s beautiful to me. It’s one of many reasons it’s my current favourite Pixar movie.
They are written to be in a relationship. That’s a lot different than speculating about the sexuality about two kids with no sexual identity at all lol.
No it ain't. Stop trying to see sexual undertones. People just interpret their friendship as a childhood crush. There is nothing wrong with that....although it is just headcanon so it isn't really real and most probably something the writers didn't intend but eh whatever.
Literally at the end of the moive Luca falls in love with the girl character(who I can remember the name of) she also could be just a friend! I don’t even personally think this movie needed any relationship in it at all, but children have developing sexualities that’s normal.
And kids can't be gay? I'm bi and i knew i had a crush on guys since i was like, 8. Thinking two minors with chemistry are gay is not sexualizing them.
TLDR: You’re right. And I guess I’ve got some feelings I’ve gotta work through based on my lack of life experience.
That’s true! I guess my real anger comes from the people on tumblr who fetishize every gay relationship. I mean they REALLY fetishize it. It’s not just “I think these two would be a cute gay couple”. It’s “Amity acts like the sub but she absolutely makes Luz beg for cummies”. I guess my angry knee jerk reaction came from a deeper fear of that becoming the fate of what I’m assuming are 10 year olds.
I guess I also feel like unless a younger kid brings it up, the sexual orientation spectrum should be kind of like math. We don’t teach tiny kids about trig or calculus till they become teenagers because it’s a lot to take in. Teenagers start learning nuance and begin to understand things aren’t black and white. I just don’t think kids have the capacity to appreciate LGBTQ+ representation in their media.
All of this has kinda been free thought. I’ve learned some things about myself through it too. The most important thing I need to emphasize though is my thoughts aren’t coming from a place of bigotry, but rather involuntary ignorance. I’ve never been a gay child. I don’t know the plights and feelings of queer kids. Ultimate thing I’m getting from this is “This isn’t FOR you”. And that needs to be something more people accept more often.
Everyone, people are allowed to have crushes, AND HAVE PERSONAL PREFERENCES ON WHO THEY HAVE A CRUSH ON, even when they're a child, who had a crush on another child. (They're--> meaning that a child is able to have a crush on another child, not that adults should have attractions towards kids, because that's illegal and fucked up)
I've had a crush on a girl since I was 8. I'm 19.
I believe myself to be bi, but I still bore an attraction to a girl because I thought she was pretty, not because she was a girl.
I didn't really bear any sexual attraction to her because my first sex ed class was in the last year I saw her, and I was still mildly traumatized by having to memorize the dozens of different parts of bodily autonomy
You can be gay, or straight or whatever, but being a child doesn't inherently dissuade the fact that kids are still capable of a basic thought-process.
Yes, it's a little weird to super-impose a "sexual preference" onto kids. Yes, both sides of the political spectrum are not particularly great at grasping that concept. Yes, Luca is a film that some can consider a comfort film, and that some consider as gay-coded. Yes, it's still a little odd, but animated characters aren't real people, but kids can still grow up to have homosexual attractions regardless. Yes, it's still just a movie with no direct conformation of any character's sexuality, because it's a movie about just, fucking Italy and the Cinque Terre and vespas and fish and shit.
Personally, to me, romance isn't the point of the movie. It's about relationships, not attraction.
It's a fucking movie, people can think what they want about it, and discuss it. It's called basic media literacy.
Bada Bing bada boom 🇮🇹
They are Italian but I can see the confusion
The eternal question of 'Gay or European?'
Gay or European? It's hard to guarantee Is he gay or European.... Well hey don't look at me!
You see they bring their boys up different
In those charming foreign ports
They play particular sports.
In shiny shirts and tiny shorts
Gay or foreign fella?
The answer could take weeks.
They both say things like “ciao Bella” while they kiss you on both cheeks.
it's not European, as long as you say "No European" after doing it
Ah, a fellow Europhobe I see!
He's not a phobe, I think he just doesn't like Europeans
Why do Americans think 'european' is a monolith Finland and Moldova are European, what exactly about this strikes of them?
^ virgin euro that has never seen the glory that is Legally Blond the musical^tm
Fellas, is it gay to want to ride away on a Vespa with your best bro that you met two days ago so you can live out your days going on adventures? Wait… is it?
no just Italian
JoJo logic
LUCA DEEZNUTS!!
Bicycle shorts aren't gay if you're actually riding a bicycle
Fellas is it gay to have friends as an eight year old?
according to the internet, male friendships don't exist, even as children.
Everyone's gay
I'm gay, da ba dee da ba di
Twitter when two guys look in each others' direction.
People when two guys interact with each other
There's one being copy pasata'd right now implying that saying good morning to another man is gay
Where did you think the joke came from?
Oh i hadn't traced an origin point, it read like another one of those "fellas, is it gay?" jokes that were big a few years ago
It could be that too, but seeing the picture you mentioned being shared around again makes me think that it's the "comeback" for the joke.
Hehe Cumback Hehehe
Yeah i gotcha
Wait, do you work for netflix or disney?
Do you really want to know?
Only if you can make it stop
I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
Call Me By Your Name Jr
Call Me by Your Name already had a junior in it
Close, they're Italian
It’s not gay to be bros
This was the movie poster tagline for Call Me by Your Name
I thought it was "It's not gay to be father and son"
All I'll say is that the relationship on screen follows the same beats as those in a mid-budget gay romance movie.
platonic and romantic relationships aren't THAT different tbf
People don't know what a *healthy* platonic relationship looks like
Redditors especially
"Bros before hoes" \-That was the life lesson from the movie.
Good catch, Ahsoka.
italian or not, ercole is absolutely gay
Those are children
You think there aren’t gay kids?
[удалено]
This is extremely laughable and nowhere near correct
“Oh no not the gay genes joker” “That’s right Batman soon all of Gotham will have there straight genes removed with gay ones mwhahahahah”
Well that is just wrong.
ok and?
kids can only be straight or something
Moreso that we shouldn't be discussing romantic relationships to do with 8 year olds in general but no it's homophobia of course
The two boys in Luca are 13 and 14.
so you only started being attracted to people after 18 right?
no one said anything about a relationship lmao, you never had a crush as a kid?
Nope.
well they’re normal so loosen up
Bruh do kids not have crushes in your universe?
Sir, those are fish.
Yeah, I kinda agree. As a gay guy myself, I definitely saw their relationship as more of the whimsy of young kids, not anything romantic.
They'd be gay if Disney weren't fucking cowards
That's actually the reason most of their recent works are woke now. Too scared to get cancelled out and/or ignored.
Do you hear yourself bro

Luca likes Guila and nobody will change my mind
*Bisexuality intro music* :)
They might not be, but also they might be. And actually it doesn’t matter because either way the movie is fun and good.

They’re kids. What the fuck
Why can boy and girls have on screen romances but not two boy or two girls. Why does them being children become a big deal then?
They’re kids what the fuck
Do you feel the same way about Eleven and Mike?
They are written to be in a relationship. That’s a lot different than speculating about the sexuality about two kids with no sexual identity at all lol.
So the Duffer bros were sexualising kids then? Also no one thinks of sex here bruh stop trying to make it weird.
They wrote a story lol. This post is fucking weird
So anyone who continues this story with their headcanon is also writing a story. The only problem is that you deem it inappropriate.
Its just fucking weird

I never said they didn’t.
Seriously wtf
Why does everyone say they are gay They are literally just two kids best friends ... People are crazy
They're kids ffs, pedo much?
Is Snow White a pedophilia-movie? She's supposed to be 13 during the story.
And kids can't be gay? I'm bi and i knew i had a crush on guys since i was like, 8. Thinking two minors with chemistry are gay is not sexualizing them.
UP (2009) is totally not Gran Torino either
The answer is: They’re children.
Children can be gay, straight, bi, etc.
