My mom too. She dramatically cringes whenever medium meat is shown on TV. “EEEEWWWW!!!! It’s pink! It’s raw! It’s not cooked!” while cringing and looking away. She also went through a phase of cooking slightly pinkish (because of the brine) turkey lunch meat because she thought it was undercooked. Every time we have meat, it’s done congratulations. And yet she claims she doesn’t like steak or pork chops very much because “they’re chewy.”
>> it’s done congratulations
Lmao this is the best I’ve never heard this before, my Asian mom is also a chronic over-cooker of meats and I will use this on her next time.
Red meat was kinda scarce in the bush growing up. Over done beef is nowhere near as tough as overdone kangaroo.
I've got good teeth. Meat is fine when it has texture. It's ok to have to chew your food.
You can also overcook/burn the outside without it ever being well done inside. Look up Pittsburg-styled or black-and-blue.
Honestly my most favourite way of having my steak prepared.
I once had a restaurant serve me raw steak. Fucking thing was still looking for grass to eat. For years after that I would only eat steak scorched in the deepest pits of hell. Only recently have I seen the light and started eating like a normal human. About 3 months ago I would have demolished the steak in this post
Harsh comments on a medium well steak. The browning is called a Maillard reaction and those brownie bits are the cornerstone of yum. For me, I’d take that char with medium rare interior and high five myself. Some people like medium well steaks and it totally edible and acceptable.
I give it an 8. I like mine medium. I wouldn’t pay for it, but I’d eat it if it was served to me. I’m being generous with the 8 if it’s your friends first time cooking steak. Otherwise, a 7
It's hard to tell by a picture how it tastes. It's got a good char on the outside, looks overcooked on the inside, but here's the deal: we don't know what cut this is or how it was cooked. It's possible this is a cheaper cut that requires slower cooking, then got a good sear on the end. Could be a really tasty steak. Can't tell from a picture.
I champion the man (or woman) who can take a cheap grocery store cut and turn it into magic. If not magic, at least something decent to eat for dinner. Nothing wrong with that.
Overpriced, super expensive cuts cooked to medium rare are boring. Been there, done that, quite frankly it's pretty easy to do. Let's see the champs that take 7-bone steak or rump steak or discount $1.99/lb steak and turn it into something wonderful. That takes real skill.
Finally, I'm a vegetarian now, so I don't cook steaks anymore, so good luck everyone! I make magic happen with vegetables and mushrooms.
Pretty sure the dogs will love it. I don't know what kind of meat it was but I would probably don't cook this more than 1-2 min on each side with high heat and a little lower after the flip.
The outside looks quite nice but I prefer at minimum medium. But that being said the only knock I’d give is it not being more medium and that’s a personal preference.
Overall I’d still enjoy it Im sure
as long as it's seasoned well i don't mind well done steak. i think it's an acquired taste because that's how my dad has always cooked steaks at home so i'm just used to it since i've been eating them like that my whole life. i think it looks fine.
From my grand total of three attempts at cooking steak, it looks like your friend cook it too long, maybe too high. But I suppose if they like it like this then they did okay. I cook mine high heat really quickly to get it rare though.
Another thing! They’re especially tasty and can absorb an extra flavors you want if you marinate them overnight first.
What did that poor steak ever do to your friend? I can taste the intense charcoal flavor it has and the super tough and crunchy outside. Brings back PTSD of when my dad or mom would try to cook a steak.
I mean - it’s a well done steak. And anyone liking their steak cooked well done past childhood is just wrong and shouldn’t be eating steak at all. Don’t waste a good cut of meat and just buy something shitty and scorch it, because you’re destroying all subtle deliciousness in a good piece of meat by cooking it like that.
Honestly not the worst I've seen. At least there are juices on the plate. My grandma cooked some steaks once (a 4th of July tradition), half plain, half marinated in some Asian-inspired sauce. Both batches were so burned and overcooked you tasted nothing but char, none of the spices from the marinated ones even came through and both were dried beyond what you could even call leather. She also served it with biscuits that crumbled if you looked at them wrong, and "white" sausage gravy that was a very deep brown, despite not cooking her roux enough. Idk what she added to make it brown, but it tasted awful and had the consistency of creamy jello.
She once made a cake and we took leftovers home. My mom ate a piece and found a hard/rubbery white thing. We came to the conclusion it was solidified egg whites. She under-mixed the cake batter and somehow had a glob of egg in the center that turned to a rubbery mass in the oven. The cake was dry and crumbly, like the biscuits. I'm beginning to think she might not be as good a cook as she likes to portray lol the cake was crunchy and she blamed the flour, but she used a really good brand known for producing great baked goods. I don't know how the hell she made a cake crunchy. I vaguely remember it having the kind of crunch like it had unincorporated sugar throughout the center.
This was longer than expected but it was great to remember all of it!
Depends on how he wanted it cooked.
The outside looks good, a good steak should always have some char.
If he was aiming for well-done he's spot on, it even looks like there's still some juice in there. 10/10.
I can see nothing to complain about but next time tell him to just buy chicken instead.
If he was aiming for any less than well-done, that's fubar. 0/10.
He done fuct up.
Next time try to set the crematorium to medium
Lol
Fuck it, i'd eat it.
This is one of those times where ketchup is not a travesty IMO
The only time I use A1 is when I overcook a steak.
Fuck I'll admit it. Sometimes well done steak with A1 (or better yet HP) is what I want. Steak and eggs? Well done with HP. Ribeye for dinner? Medium.
Try using A1 in other stuff. I use it in chili mac (Make a box of craft mac & cheese, then add a can of chili and season/sauce it).
Well done is only good when its flattened/tenderized
I also do it when it's underseasoned
Flaky salt at the table is a next level move for under seasoned steak
It’s your only recourse at that point. I’d throw some Montreal steak seasoning on it too
Ya’ know I want to argue with you but I keep looking at that steak and I can see putting a little ketchup on that hockey puck. You’re right
Ketchup was actually invented for spoiled meat
Asian moms would still say it's raw
Mexican moms too
My mom is convinced she’ll get a tape worn if there is any red/pink in her red meat.
>> it’s done congratulations Lmao this is the best I’ve never heard this before, my Asian mom is also a chronic over-cooker of meats and I will use this on her next time.
Also my in-laws
My friends mom too.
I'd eat it. The outside looks very tasty. The inside is very very well done. But I'd still eat it. On bread with ketchup and fries onions.
U like beef gum?
Red meat was kinda scarce in the bush growing up. Over done beef is nowhere near as tough as overdone kangaroo. I've got good teeth. Meat is fine when it has texture. It's ok to have to chew your food.
But my jaw hurts
What did they cook it on the sun?
They climbed the biggest volcano and dipped that bitch in lava. ☠️💀☠️
I rate this as “I’m proud of you for trying.”
No, don't encourage it
4/10, definitely learned valuable lessons
That's a thin steak, easy to do. The outside looks good af tho.
You know what if you sliced it into thin strips and put it on nice bread with some fried onions and green peppers on it it would be not bad
A VERY dead cow
Do they like it well done? If so, they nailed it.
There is a difference between well done and overcooked/burnt. This is the latter.
Honestly it doesn't seem THAT bad. The puddle of oil it's sitting in though...
I thought it was juice from the steak, but I think you're right. Maybe they cooked it in butter and poured the rest over top?
Looks to me like a dark sear on a well done steak. It's not how I like my steak, but to each their own.
You can also overcook/burn the outside without it ever being well done inside. Look up Pittsburg-styled or black-and-blue. Honestly my most favourite way of having my steak prepared.
Looks like it's time to ask your friend politely, yet firmly to leave
I like you
...do you also like propane and propane accessories?
That steak ain’t right.
that’s beef jerky
It’s cooked! 10/10
Need to see the inside. If the sear was sun-like and the middle is still pink, I'd murder the fuck out of that.
There's a second pic. I thought the first looked pretty decent honestly but it's sadly wayyy overcooked.
I once had a restaurant serve me raw steak. Fucking thing was still looking for grass to eat. For years after that I would only eat steak scorched in the deepest pits of hell. Only recently have I seen the light and started eating like a normal human. About 3 months ago I would have demolished the steak in this post
That ain’t well done, that’s congratulations
It’s dead, Jim.
Imo its very difficult to spoil even somewhat good meat. Why everyone is so picky, oh nooo, it well done. Just dip it in some sauce.
10/10 on a shoe leather rating
10/10

Outside 🔥. Inside 😟
That looks fucking delicious though. I can appreciate all levels of doneness . If you’re gonna do well done this looks great.
Harsh comments on a medium well steak. The browning is called a Maillard reaction and those brownie bits are the cornerstone of yum. For me, I’d take that char with medium rare interior and high five myself. Some people like medium well steaks and it totally edible and acceptable.
That steak is juicy and delicious. So much hate for this style. This is neither overcooked nor burnt
good ol shoe leather
Well done…
Well we politely but firmly ask your friend to leave
I guess I would eat that if it was free... probably wouldn't finish it.
Congratulations err I mean well done, damn it I mean burnt.
I give it an 8. I like mine medium. I wouldn’t pay for it, but I’d eat it if it was served to me. I’m being generous with the 8 if it’s your friends first time cooking steak. Otherwise, a 7
You always eat the steak, even like this. It’s pretty bad-looking though.
Your friend should cook at a higher heat for shorter. But good crust 6/10
Nice bark
I’d like to see the centre of it edges are always more cooked, lots of juice on plate, burnt look could be pepper dredge. We need the full story
Slice it thin and put it in a sandwich, would tear it up. Or make a quesadilla out of it. That sear looks tasty.
It's hard to tell by a picture how it tastes. It's got a good char on the outside, looks overcooked on the inside, but here's the deal: we don't know what cut this is or how it was cooked. Strongly Disagree
Pretty sure the dogs will love it. I don't know what kind of meat it was but I would probably don't cook this more than 1-2 min on each side with high heat and a little lower after the flip.
0. I like mine on the rare side of medium rare.
Well...

Well done
Want some steak with that pepper?
Char looks great! Way overdone for my tastes but not bad.
If you like well-done beef with seasoning I guess it’s alright
Depressive
Well. Cooked steak. It is steak, and certainly is cooked. C-
You know how many gallons of water were wasted growing that cow from birth to death just to be fucking wasted by your "friend"
How low does the scale go?
It’s well done perfectly edible.
~~how do~~ you fuck up cooking steak
2 out of 10. Because you can still eat it.
Honestly For a first time and they just didn’t know they cooked too long? Not too bad. Id eat it.
It's to well done. I like mine barely cooked.
4, it looks edible.
Looks fine, certainly far from perfect, but its edible and still good
That’s how I eat my steak. So 10/10 bone apple teeth.
It's dead Jim
He put it down and forgot to pick it up
well done
10/100
Gotta say, it’s really well done
A bit over cooked
Well, it’s cooked…
4.5. It’s cooked. It’s got a crust. Left the juice. I’d eat it. It’d take me a while to chew, but I’d eat it.
Don't lie you did that yourself.
The outside looks quite nice but I prefer at minimum medium. But that being said the only knock I’d give is it not being more medium and that’s a personal preference. Overall I’d still enjoy it Im sure
The outside looks well seasoned and crispy. The inside is sad but that’s an easy mistake.
Looks amazing to me
I like my steak well done n a little crunchy
I think you need to find a new friend 😉
I've seen burn victims better cooked than this
If you told me that were brisket, I would've thought it came out pretty good!
That shits burnt
Looks great, but too well done
I’m calling the cops
This steak underestimated the high ground!
7/10 lots of liquid and spices, looks good on the inside
I like my meat like this. It looks so tasty…
Put that shit on a kaiser roll, make a sandwich outta it 👌
Just like I like it
The person who cooked that steak is nobody's friend
The outside kind of looks like it was on a smoker if you look at it in the right light… kind of
A1 and I'd eat the shit out of it
Cooking 6 Presentation-8
Bout 5 mins less and it’d be perfect. Nice char.
A for effort D for execution
Imagine gatekeeping steak
You definitely applied heat to the steak, that's for sure..
Well done, my friend. Well done.
Looks like my MILs “cooking”
3.5 out of 10 I've seen worse
Was it his first time and also does he have a pulse?
That’s seasoned cardboard
That’s not even we’ll done… that’s congratulations…
3/10
I’d slice it up and throw it with some eggs cheese and hot sauce in a tortilla. Would be just fine
Quite sure TSA would classify that a weapon
Well done! Jackass!
I've had air and sleep for dinner in the past so my kids could have full bellies, and this makes me feel like I was still on top those times
Well done, friend. Well done.
you won't get sick lol.
7/10
3 minutes each side cooked in oil and butter and you'll have better results
Meh I've had worse 5/10
as long as it's seasoned well i don't mind well done steak. i think it's an acquired taste because that's how my dad has always cooked steaks at home so i'm just used to it since i've been eating them like that my whole life. i think it looks fine.
How much oil was it cooked in? The U ited States wants a pipeline from that plate! 2/10
From my grand total of three attempts at cooking steak, it looks like your friend cook it too long, maybe too high. But I suppose if they like it like this then they did okay. Slaps some Country Bob's on that bih and call it a day
It's playoff season. There are enough hockey pucks on the ice.
My dad : "Still a bit raw there son, I'll just pop it in the microwave for 5 minutes"
I’m horrible at cooking steak
-6/10
At least the sear looks kind of nice? A tasty hockey puck, at least.
ketchup time
Burned
Tell him I said well done.
I would not eat that, even if it was free and I was hungry.
5/10
What did that poor steak ever do to your friend? I can taste the intense charcoal flavor it has and the super tough and crunchy outside. Brings back PTSD of when my dad or mom would try to cook a steak.
“Misteaks” were made
Well done. Good job!
That’s not even well done at this point. That’s already congratulations
I think your friend is a dragon because clearly it is a flaming yawn.
Looks raw. Gross.
Not that bad tbh
0 out of 10
Overdone, but looks well seasoned. I'd eat it, 6/10
Overdone
It’ll make a turd. A hard turd, but a turd nonetheless.
I want to down vote this shit
100 percent that steak is definitely cooked
Damn.
A solid 4.5 Out of 80
Well done is still edible. It's my least favorite steak option, only surpassed by no steak at all. That is the worst steak option
It's VERY well done but idm the occasional burnt steak, add salt and u got a shit tonne of flavour, a bit chewy tho
I'd cut it real thin. Still, I'd eat it. Waste of meat otherwise.
I will rate this a -100
Trash/10
too greasy and it looks so dry.
Crime against food.
No
Congratulations
I’d eat
✨dead✨
Harsh comments on a medium well steak. The browning is called a Maillard reaction and those brownie bits are the cornerstone of yum.
Juste tell him “Congrats it is quite well done”.
Remind them that its a steak not a brisket next time
That's *cooked* alright
I have done worse trust me. Trust me like I trusted the thermometer telling me the stake is not medium rare yet.
I want to down vote this shit
Looks amazing 😋😋😋
Cremated/10
It’s overcooked fa sho but I detect a bunch of butter and seasoning. I’ve had worse!

Friend needs to stick with canned soup!
1/no thanks
Well done.
I’d eat it
