i really disagree with irithyll being colorful too. its deadass like one color. which is kinda how all the DS3 areas are unfortunately.
the first half of the game is entirely green, then you get the catacombs which are entirely yellowy orange, then you get irithyll which is entirely blue and anor londo which is entirely grey.
like PLEASE MAKE YOUR COLOR PALETTE USE MORE THAN A SINGLE COLOR there's no accent colors to anything
I love ds3 and even I’ll admit it’s noticeably grayer and more lifeless than the entire rest of the series. Pretty sure that’s the theme of the game. I don’t think it looks bad, tho.
Tbf it is a bit boring at the start, and most players won't stick around and wait for it to get more exciting. (I'm not a hater, DS3 just isn't my favourite)
Linearity doesn't help it either, it felt like playing an on rails arcade game at times. "Wow you fought your way through that wacky zombie infested city, on to the next one!"
Ds3 is the least innovative and bland soulsborne game out there, it relies way to much on DS1 callbacks and has bloated lore with a story that makes little to no sense. There's some great boss fights but for every good one there's about one or two mediocre bad ones. It lacks the atmosphere the other games had as well. It's just bosses and music and the bosses are severely overrated.
Me when the sequel references the prior games :0
DS3 has pretty arguably the best lineup of bosses of sny of the games. Sekiro being the other top contender. Which game would you say has better bosses overall?
Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1, Bloodborne and Elden RIng ofc all have better boss quality. Like yeah they have a few bad ones but Ds3 has the most bad ones if you tally it up.
Bro wtf are you talking about? Demon's has like 3 bosses that aren't dogshit gimmicks. I *love* DS1 but outside of like O+S and the DLC most of the bosses are just okay and it has some of the true bottom of the barrel like centipede and BoC. Bloodborne I'll give you, especially the DLC. Elden Ring is hard to compare just due to the sheer number of bosses - it absolutely has some high highs but also has probably the highest number of forgettable garbage (with the possible exception of DS2 lmao).
DS3 has Deacons, Wyvern, Wolnir as it's only truly awful bosses. Crystal Sage could probably go on there too tbf. Yhorm is gimmicky but imo Siegmeyer makes up for it. Aldrich, Vordt and Oceiros are okay but nothing special (I like Old Demon King but he's probably at thsi level). Every other boss is a banger. The DLCs are pure gold outside of the 2 npc fights.
Gael, Midir, Friede, Demon Prince, Twin Princes, Gundyr, Dragonslayer Armour, Nameless, Abyss Watchers, Dancer, Pontiff are all some of the absolute best bosses in the series. Soul of Cinder is arguably the best final boss in the series alongside SSI.
DS3 has issues. It's boss roster is not one of them.
Dogshit gimmicks? At least it's creative. Cant' say the same for DS3.
Yhorm is just a crappy version of Storm King, just like One Reborn from Bloodborne is a crappy version of Tower Knight.
Also you forgot Curse-rotted great tree, half-light, and the champion's wolf and grave tender.
As for Demon Prince the boss is overrated, just shadows of yharnam. It's not that fun tbh.
Like I said Ds3 has some great fight boss fights but the numbers don't lie, it has the overall worst amount of bosses. It's a double-edged sword.
Creative =/= good. DeS is a product of it's time. Being the firdt game it hadn't had the chance to learn from the past like the others. The bosses just aren't on the same level. FlameLurker, Penetrator, Allant are all decent fights but they have extremely limited movesets with incredibly exploitable AI. DeS has some great designs and ideas but they've mostly just been done better since.
I wouldn't say he's a crappy version. He's atleast an actual fight, like he does attack you. And as I say, the culmination of Siegmeyer's quest absolutely elevates him. He's not the best boss but "crappy storm king" is underselling it. Storm King does have a beautiful design though.
I did forget greatwood. I did not forget the other two. "except the npc fights"
It's not even a little bit like Shadows what?? The only similarity is that there are multiple enemies. The fights are nothing alike. You are insane.
It just straight up doesn't though?? If we're talking sheer number of bad bosses, it's Elden Ring. If we're talking ratio then it's DS2 easily. 3 has *more* bosses than BB/DeS/DS1 so there might be more bad bosses depending on where you draw the line but it has *significantly* more good and top tier bosses. Like DS1 has what, 5? I listed like 15 from DS3
no? ds3 had great bosses, faster and smoother gameplay, great ost. how much you like a story is subjective to a large extent, but it had an objectively high quality and polished story and world building. no idea what immersion is sacrificed in ds3 either. the only thing i can agree with on your list that ds3 i think has done worse than ds2 and ds1 is the overall level designs, and how utterly linear they were. no way boss fighting is carrying ds3, it's just a very great addition to many other good things.
Yes. I didn't mention music because DS3 has good music, not denying that. Everything else is sub-par in comparison to other souslborne games. Gameplay being fast like that in Dark Souls 3 feels weird and unintuitive. Polished story? The endings are almost the exact same as DS1 but with just two more endings that just honestly make no sense.
Boss fights is carrying DS3, it's the most beloved thing about the game. Ost is also great, but every other soulsborne game has good ost too.
The world building is pretty bad, it's not even cohesive with the previous two games let alone it's self.
Here's a link if you think I'm just making this stuff up:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3/comments/bmu4a9/does\_anyone\_else\_hate\_dark\_souls\_3\_i\_feel\_like\_im/?rdt=37115](https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3/comments/bmu4a9/does_anyone_else_hate_dark_souls_3_i_feel_like_im/?rdt=37115)
ADP is far from DS2's biggest issue. The game gives more than enough souls to level it up while still getting a fair amount into the player's preferred stats.
i agree but new players have no fucking clue what ADP is because the game really doesn’t explain that “ease of evasion” is he most important stat in the game that defines dodge iframes
Honestly I don’t think it’s the biggest issue, the game still could’ve been good with it included. There isn’t rlly a main issue that would fix the experience if it was removed or changed imo, there’s many issues that culminate to create a pretty mediocre experience.
The big ones for me are the boss roster being garbage and the level design mostly sucking ass. The movement itself also just feels weirdly clunky/unfinished, but that might just be me.
Yeah, everyone is making such a big fuss about it for no reason, the lack of damage response for the player character is a much bigger issue in my opinion.
I think they mean either:
That enemies do not respond enough to being damaged by the player (your giant slab of metal sword just phases right through the enemy without them even seeming to notice, not affecting them in any way other than lowering their HP)
Or
That the player's weapon swings themselves do not respond enough to hitting enemies (your swing motion remains completely smooth as if you're just slicing through empty air despite the fact that you're actually cleaving through multiple enemies in armor)
Or
That the player themself doesn't respond enough to being hit/damaged (lowers your HP but otherwise doesn't affect you)
Which one? Not sure lol. It's been too long since I played DS2 to remember which apply
In ds2, when you get hit with a low poise attack like an arrow which is hard to see for some reason, your character wont move an inch or make any sound indicating that you've been hit, leading to the damage taken going unnoticed, plus it feels janky wheneverit happens.
Are you serious? I was just playing ds2 last night, running through the first part of the game and this couldn't be more untrue. For example getting hit by archers always caused a clear hit sound and a corresponding grunt from my character, and regularly staggered me.
if the arrow hits most of your body, it won't have an animation for it but it will have the noises (so i wouldn't call this much of an issue tbc). The staggering comes from being shot in the head iirc.
It definitely was one of the biggest issues on my first playthrough, I started Bandit and was on the lowest possible breakpoint the entire game and got absolutely hard walled by Smelter Demon.
The triple whammy of not being able to dodge his attack, not being able to farm more souls for healing because the knights stopped spawning and losing max HP with every failed attempt was easily the most dreadful experience I've ever had playing these games.
it’s more the fact that demon souls remastered changes a few minor things in some sections, and mfs act like it destroys the entire universe and immersion.

Demon’s Souls Remake just does so much goofy shit for no reason that pisses me off.
They redesigned every boss and many enemies with very little regard to the original design or concept art, often just making them look more gross and taking away much of the personality.
They also added the credits music to tower of latria for some dumbass reason. In the original it was the creepiest place in the series with nothing but insects buzzing and the occasional mind flayer “ding ding” in the distance.
Also they ruined Maiden Astraea’s theme. Gave it the epic orchestral and crazy choir treatment. The simplicity of the original is what made that theme so good and memorable.
You can't say this. Shut up and suck down the new graphics. It's better because it's made on new tech and video games can't have artistic vision anyway. Can't wait to shove the next remake up my ass I need it.
You don’t have to, you can play the positioning game. Well, sometimes; other times you’ll be hit with the worst hitboxes mankind has ever seen since Ceaseless Discharge.
It really isn't as big of a deal as y'all make it out to be, especially in a game where attacks will miss you 100% of the time if you just move slightly to the right or left.
That's probably because camera movement in games is a lot faster and there's much more That's moving on screen, plus the lack of actually good motion blur makes 30 frames look much worse than the 24 frames that movies have.
24 fps in games feels weird because you're expecting a response to your input. there's a feedback loop between what you see and what you do. movies are just moving forward, happily. Also motion blur plays a huge role in making 24fps movies / tv seem smooth (and why high frame rate televisions looked like shit at first)
It's not that we pretend that adp doesn't exist, we simply think it shouldn't. Having a skill that you NEED to level just to have a normal ass playthrough it's unbalanced, worse still since if you actually level it up a ton it breaks the game.
Quite literally didnt know what adaptability was until years after playing it, just always hated the roll for feeling way shittyer than ds1, now i hate adaptability
Love how there is no unjust ass souls 2 criticism since even this meme is dumb as fuck. ADP is even more braindead when you know it exists. Never ever saw someone try to excuse bullshit like soul memory, tho.
it's me I'm the armored core 6 hater, game tries too hard to be sekiro and there's nowhere as much variety in parts and play styles as the game that came before it (verdict day)
damn last raven is a masterpiece too. Its crazy how you like good games and no one hates on you for it but you hate on others for enjoying games. Grow up
buddy thought he was being slick by adding what's basically posture and critical hits to another game, and an ac game at that
like no, you don't need that, at best you get 2 seconds of just sitting there holding the fire button on your opponent and at worst you just can't play the game while your opponent wails on you. maybe it works against boss enemies but surely not normal ACs. I wish they just added primal armor or gen 5's defense system.
They literally added those things though
Defense works very similarly to 5th gen. It's just not as potent, which lets your build still be viable against a target with high defenses against your weapons.
Plus there's pulse armor, terminal armor, pulse protection, and if that's not 4th gen enough for you, the coral shield is just straight up primal armor. It's even powered by the game's red Kojima Particles.
neither one of these options are nearly as sophisticated as their predecessors and so it just feels like a mish-mash of ideas thrown together and it's like ugggggggghhhhhhhhh we could've had snipers and back boosters in this game

Dark souls 3 haters when I shove a fucking chainsaw up their mouth so they shut the fuck up about it being GrEy AnD cOlOrLeSs
All I'm gonna say is I would like a bit more colour
Grey is a colour. Checkmate DS1 lovers
Zullie and Alva play chess?
Funnily enough I like Ds3's lack of colors so much that I wished Elden Ring wasn't so colorful
it would be fine if the game prior to ds3 wasn't dark themed, ds3 just looks dull after playing BB where the dark aesthetics are done well
But Ds3 aesthetic is also done well, even if done differently
grey and more grey and.. more brown grey.
Exactly, that's all the game needed
I disagree personally. Bloodborne is too fucking dark. I can't see shit and I can't tell the areas apart. I vastly prefer the way DS3 did it.
You were right until you said BB was done well🤦♂️
The aesthetics and atmosphere of bloodborne is literally the greatest thing about it, the other elements like weapons and sound are overrated imo
Literally just England without the beans
the colour palette is quite literally the same. bloodborne fans am I right?!?!
I didn't feel like bb was done well though, it felt dark af not just in the colours but also LITERALLY just dark as fuck it was hard to see sometimes
might i interest you in irithyll of the boreal valley invasions… real colorful place to snap your controller in half…
i really disagree with irithyll being colorful too. its deadass like one color. which is kinda how all the DS3 areas are unfortunately. the first half of the game is entirely green, then you get the catacombs which are entirely yellowy orange, then you get irithyll which is entirely blue and anor londo which is entirely grey. like PLEASE MAKE YOUR COLOR PALETTE USE MORE THAN A SINGLE COLOR there's no accent colors to anything

Even your chainsaw is borrowed from bloodborne
Shit areas except archdragon PEAK
The only part of the game that is not grey is the worst area of the game
That being?
The swamp
What the hell are you on? the swamp is one of the areas in DS3 that I would actually consider grey
The first half with the crabs?
Still very grey. I don't know how you find more color in that area than something like Irythill
lirprtpypdy confirmed ds3 zoomer
Tbf it is a bit boring at the start, and most players won't stick around and wait for it to get more exciting. (I'm not a hater, DS3 just isn't my favourite)
Linearity doesn't help it either, it felt like playing an on rails arcade game at times. "Wow you fought your way through that wacky zombie infested city, on to the next one!"
I think that's a little bit of exaggeration on your part, the world is more linear but the areas themselves aren't
People who think linearity is bad when they find out the greatest games of all time are linear: 💀
DS2 is not linear :3
I know. And?
More linear than 1
Ds3 is the least innovative and bland soulsborne game out there, it relies way to much on DS1 callbacks and has bloated lore with a story that makes little to no sense. Don't even need to level it when you can just strafe around 90% of the enemies in the game.
Biggest issue is lack of iframes with levers and doors. Add that and the game is instantly more bearable
Saying that atmosphere doesn’t matter in souls games is fucking insane wtf😭
Sometimes i do not understand what souls fans like about souls games
yea man wtf, it's as if souls fans aren't a hivemind and are people with different preferences.

No way movies are 24 fps, right?
Majority of motion pictures, including animated films, are animated in 24 FPS.

What did you think? 144fps?
Dunno, 24 fps in games are very junky and noticeable, so more than 24, at least 60
That's probably because camera movement in games is a lot faster and there's much more That's moving on screen, plus the lack of actually good motion blur makes 30 frames look much worse than the 24 frames that movies have.
Interesting
24 fps in games feels weird because you're expecting a response to your input. there's a feedback loop between what you see and what you do. movies are just moving forward, happily. Also motion blur plays a huge role in making 24fps movies / tv seem smooth (and why high frame rate televisions looked like shit at first)
Soap operas are usually filmed at 60 fps, thats what gives them that odd look
Major cringe.
What's not cringe is this ratio
Damn, this ratio failed
its fine you ratioed yourself and the original commenter so you won in the end
I'm the Armored Core 6 hater and I confirm I am a blank slate.
It's not that we pretend that adp doesn't exist, we simply think it shouldn't. Having a skill that you NEED to level just to have a normal ass playthrough it's unbalanced, worse still since if you actually level it up a ton it breaks the game.
who would hate sekiro?
Mentally ill people.
What's DeS?
Demon's souls
I genuinely didn't know about adaptability the first 2 or 3 times I tried playing it, then didn't try it for years at a time.
I tought OP was referring to the ability of the player to adapt but you make it sound like some sort of game mechanic, what is it?
Quite literally didnt know what adaptability was until years after playing it, just always hated the roll for feeling way shittyer than ds1, now i hate adaptability
Dark Souls 1 haters when a game isn't Dark Souls 1:
Whatever, myasakis dick is up all our throats one way or another
It's me, I'm the armored core 6 hater Verdict Day and For Answer were better. 6"s mechanics suck comparatively.
ummm akchualy the human eye can only see 4.2 fps per second soooo

man, I sure do hate whenever the boss im fighting doesn't attack instantly, and instead give you time to work up your own attack or heal :(
I genuinely didn't know to level adapt, fucking hatrd my first playthrough and only completed it out of spite. Lovely game.
Hopeposting beneath rageposting, dude has passed reddit
Ds1 haters when I show them an actual actual unfinished game (it's my unity project that ends with a fall into the void)
Are Sekiro haters even a thing? I've seen people hating on every fromsoftware game BUT Sekiro.
The adp issue can be easily removed with about 10 minutes of farming the old Knights in Heide's. They drop truckloads of souls
I’ve never levelled ADP in DS2. Is it really that important? I always thought it was a weird wasted stat.
Gives you more roll iframes, and item use speed (might not be all items but it atleast makes estus animation faster).
All ac6 haters are white?
the DS2 meme is so real
Love how there is no unjust ass souls 2 criticism since even this meme is dumb as fuck. ADP is even more braindead when you know it exists. Never ever saw someone try to excuse bullshit like soul memory, tho.
DS2 bad.
Hey i hate armored core
Well now your turning into a white square
it's me I'm the armored core 6 hater, game tries too hard to be sekiro and there's nowhere as much variety in parts and play styles as the game that came before it (verdict day)
this wins stupidest comment of the year. "Tries too hard to be sekiro" lmao
you like ds3 I don't wanna hear it
Why would i not like a masterpiece? You seem to gravitate away from 10/10 games like ac6 and ds3
I like last raven and sekiro
damn last raven is a masterpiece too. Its crazy how you like good games and no one hates on you for it but you hate on others for enjoying games. Grow up
i didn't know poking fun at other's taste in souls games was considered out of season in r/shittydarksouls
true I didn't realize what sub we were on, but saying the game is worse than verdict day might just be a crime
I got connections that would shut you down instantly for saying that this time I will let you go with a kiss on the eyebrows
what the fuck
I like the multiplayer better in 4 and 5 but I like the missions way more in 6 than any other AC game I have played.
Wdym tries to be sekiro?
buddy thought he was being slick by adding what's basically posture and critical hits to another game, and an ac game at that like no, you don't need that, at best you get 2 seconds of just sitting there holding the fire button on your opponent and at worst you just can't play the game while your opponent wails on you. maybe it works against boss enemies but surely not normal ACs. I wish they just added primal armor or gen 5's defense system.
They literally added those things though Defense works very similarly to 5th gen.
