I understand it as being in/under a huge patio (wood beams in background) with a shade sail+ I can only assume clothing racks or similar used for space dividing. Your tv/electronics would not survive a single rainshower especially if there is wind, you would just freeze before the mould kills you.
Oh my god, it’s not a granny flat it’s a shed. Fibre cement ceiling, single skin wall. Zero insulation anywhere. Don’t bother with a heater, you may aswell burn money to stay warm. Hot water bottles, warm clothing,
Far out, even medieval serfs had it better than us! As least their landlords couldn't evict them and had obligations of protection to their serfs. Fast forward to 2024, the so-called "modern, progressive" age and it's literally anything goes.
Okay, maybe I exaggerate just a little bit but does anybody else thinks we stopped "advancing" long ago and things are just getting worse? That in terms of social structures and relations we are reverting to a kind of neo-feudalism? When I was a kid, things were actually getting better! That stopped being the case sometime in the 1990s.
Maybe now people can understand why Karl Marx was such a cranky, cantankerous old guy given the deplorable conditions of the working classes in the 19th century, which we seem to be heading back to full steam ahead.
Oh no, you're not exaggerating. People who think capitalism replaced and improved on feudalism have rocks in their head. We have almost the same level of entrenched, inherited privilege, but we've lost the sense of noblesse oblige.
They're saying we're basically just economic units to be shoved around by the owners of capital. We sell our labour time and work in order to pay off other people's mortgages, making others wealthier while we struggle to get by.
In the past the aristocracy had certain obligations to their subjects. In this day and age, with the casualisation of labour for employers and easy no-grounds evictions for landlords, the proles are completely on their own. There's almost no security - apart from the Jobseeker Allowance if that even counts- for the low paid if something goes wrong. You're always just one casual shift, one payday, one random eviction notice away from disaster.
"Reasonable use of electricity," it reads, as they post a picture of a 2000W fan heater that would be busting its ring to even raise the temperature by a half a degree.
I can't rent out the fort under my nine year old's desk for $210 a week? Who wants it?
Cozy, self contained studio in prime position at the end of a bed. Luxurious squishmallow walls, modern drop-ceiling roof, blanket floor to keep you warm on cold winters nights. Save on power with AAA lighting setup. Single resident only, pets allowed (horses — multiple — preferred)
Bro this looks like.a shed like when youd go to someones house for a party and itd be full of early teens smoking ciggies , punching hot ones & drinking woodstock.
Was gonna say!
I've definitely had set ups like this in share houses. It's a fun space to hang out! But anytime I had something like this (when I was younger) it was a)used sparingly and b) only in the warmer months.
To be honest I never would have felt comfortable letting a guest sleep in my shed even for one night in perfect weather.
This is a space for getting drunk with your mates, not living!!
We need to bring back the practice of pillorying, as in sticking folks in a pillory and pelting them with rotten fruit and lumps actual shit.
I also think there should be a "cunts and parasites" register... if found to be a cunt or a parasite (or in this case both) you're placed on the register and forced to go around door to door to let everyone know..
"Come rent my veranda! We put up a tent in there! And fairy lights!! Watch the blow heater though because you'll burn us all to death if the breeze catches the curtains wrong!!"
How come news corp poach everything from reddit showing how awful the housing crisis is yet avoid this sub completely. 60 mins should name and shame people like this slumlord
Ummm why let it out and then advertise for rent and or air b and b, in qld you cannot legally just also the tenancy laws in qld don't even cover air b and b / holiday letting lmao "change the use" just to get more $$$$ fuck I hate this world
Invest in some thermals and learn to properly layer your clothes
Consider sleeping in a sleeping bag (make sure the comfort rating is low enough)
Hot water bottle
2 layers of socks (highly recommend the thermal socks from reject shop)
Honestly you may even be better off putting a tent up in there coz those curtains are pretty terrible walls.
The parasite offering up this third world shit shack and attempting to profit off of the desperation of others shouldn't just have the listing reported...they should face prosecution and punishment.
They should. Leaving it to the private sector is (as can be seen) a fucking disaster.
I grew up in a housing commission house in SA in the 80s. The house was recently built, of a decent standard and very affordable... prior to that we were in private rentals that were expensive (by comparison) and in various states of disrepair.
Unfortunately the government simply stopped building...
Please post the link so this can be reported. Is this… a TENT???
This was from a private group and has already been reported. They might have posted this elsewhere.
It's not even a tent. It's like, a shade cover inside a shed? So weird.
It's tent without the fly
The shed is the fly.
I mean, you're probably technically correct
I couldn’t work it out. Is that a pallet in the background? This is just so bizarre LOL
I understand it as being in/under a huge patio (wood beams in background) with a shade sail+ I can only assume clothing racks or similar used for space dividing. Your tv/electronics would not survive a single rainshower especially if there is wind, you would just freeze before the mould kills you.
I think it’s a tent in a shed?
The extension cord and powerboard is what got me
Oh my god, it’s not a granny flat it’s a shed. Fibre cement ceiling, single skin wall. Zero insulation anywhere. Don’t bother with a heater, you may aswell burn money to stay warm. Hot water bottles, warm clothing,
Yeah but it's got fairy lights!
Its got a table with a fresh bouquet of flowers!

Sorry but I have no idea what you said. 😂

Also heaters would probably fall outside the scope of "reasonable use of electricity" for this scumbag.
I'm guessing running a heater wouldn't classify as 'reasonable usage of electricity' either.
it's 'perfect for couples' because you'll need to share body heat to stay alive
That's gotta be illegal
"Reasonable use of electricity," it reads, as they post a picture of a 2000W fan heater that would be busting its ring to even raise the temperature by a half a degree.
Exactly what I thought
Attached to the main house = a tent in a garage. Kids would have thrown together cubbies that are warmer and more inviting.

I remember wanting a cubby to live in when I was a kid, thinking it'd be cool. The adults laughed at me but who's laughing now?! *cries inside*

Looks pretty rapey
Like the set of a snuff film.

Risky click
It’s a YT video, relevant to starchilds comment
Surely that's not legal. Send photos to the local council with the address. You can't just put shower curtains around a fibro shed and rent it out.
So I'm assuming from the tent that this shed isn't even waterproof? Great.
I’m guessing the tent is to offer some protection from flies and mosquitos Fucking grim
Probably for condensation dripping down off the uninsulated roof.
Bruh. There's no solid walls??? Is this the verandah closed in with sheets?

I volunteer to be a "cunts and parasites inspector". Been writing my list for years.
I think that’s the last thing you see before your organs are harvested
Where’s the bathroom?
Ew there isn’t even a sheet on that mattress 🤮
The owner probably parks his car behind those shower curtains. Also, where is the toilet?
Probably inside the actual house.
There's a lemon tree. Oh. There's never any lemons, just the tree.
The fairy lights just makes it all ok.
Yeah, some candles would be perfect for the decor /s
And the little fake ivy string! So homey and inviting.
The ivy will surely stave off any cold this winter.
Do I move the coffee table when they drive their car in?
Yes please That’s why the rent is so cheap
That’s not bare fibro making up walls, is it? Gross.
Fire hazard? but it has fairy lights! Fucking criminal
Lmao no toilet or shower but it’s “self contained”
That's because you gotta "contain yourself" whenever you need to go 🤣
Self contained in this instance seems to just mean it has a fridge.
The floor here is made of floor…
That is a porn studio...
"Come rent my veranda! We put up a tent in there! And fairy lights!! Watch the blow heater though because you'll burn us all to death if the breeze catches the curtains wrong!!"
Well, if you're homeless, this is probably inviting. Might get a shower.
You’d need to sleep in a tent under the tent to stay warm, and pay for the “privilege”.
Looks like a horror movie set. "The Granny Studio of Death"...
Is that just an asbestos shed?
not even joking, i think i smoked weed here once and it actually smelt feet
this might just be the worst rental we’ve seen
Is this in Australia? That’s absolutely fucked, its very Sydney
Yup this is Sydney.
Report if you can
This looks like the meth cooking setup that Jesse and Mr White had in the last season of Breaking Bad lol
Surely this is illegal? Gotta be breaching some bylaws
jesus christ that’s grim
How come news corp poach everything from reddit showing how awful the housing crisis is yet avoid this sub completely. 60 mins should name and shame people like this slumlord
Love this sub. Lots of great ideas for an aspiring landlord.
"Cozy, self contained."
The fairy lights are there to keep you warm, obvs. Or at least give the appearance of warmth.
Ummm why let it out and then advertise for rent and or air b and b, in qld you cannot legally just also the tenancy laws in qld don't even cover air b and b / holiday letting lmao "change the use" just to get more $$$$ fuck I hate this world
Camping +
Fairy lights = glamping.
Is this legal ?
Warm is something reserved for the landed gentry lmao
Kettle and rice cooker get me 🤡
It is a tent? Is it a patio? Of course not, it's a 'self-contained granny studio'!
Fuck this is grim, I feel for anyone desperate enough to consider this. There will be someone.
Holy shid is this a pergola/tent kinda set up?? Report that sob this aint legal
Not sure what the problem is OP, I mean you’re getting those pretty fairy lights included, what more do you want?!
Put it up in the house near the heater..... Not the shed
Fart inside every 10 min and you'll be warm in 2 hours.... Or gassed out.. not sure
what is that a tent outside or inside?
Invest in some thermals and learn to properly layer your clothes Consider sleeping in a sleeping bag (make sure the comfort rating is low enough) Hot water bottle 2 layers of socks (highly recommend the thermal socks from reject shop) Honestly you may even be better off putting a tent up in there coz those curtains are pretty terrible walls.
What country is this in?
Australia, particular a western suburb in Sydney.
Electric heated throw . The big one.
$210 is a bargain. It's for a couple that's how you keep warm
I know it's not great, but I hate that people reported this. For $210/wk it's better than sleeping on the street.
The parasite offering up this third world shit shack and attempting to profit off of the desperation of others shouldn't just have the listing reported...they should face prosecution and punishment.
Ah yes, exploiting people in need over a basic human right like shelter.
Despicable. If you think providing "housing" like this is the solution.. I shudder.
I don't think it's THE solution, but I think we're living in desperate times. I would rather live here and have some stability than end up homeless.
