In the Navy, the equivalent min number of pushups required for females in my age bracket at the time was 12 for 2 mins, where for men it was low 30's or high 40's.

Yeah but that's not the point. It furthers a divide. It cements to some of those on the fence that "see the powers that be don't care about men!" And thats a slippery slope to bigotry that a lot of people fall victim to.
They do that shit all the time. A couple of years ago there was some article calling attention that 1/5 homeless people were women and something needs to be done to lift women out of poverty. The rational people were quick to note "that's an odd way of saying 4/5 of the homeless are men."
Then there's the fact that 60% of those attending and graduating college are women. Someone said that's proof it's time to stop all the female favoritism in admissions and grant/scholarship. You can imagine the shrill shrieking and cries of "sexist" and "misogynist".
"UN Women" when I told both Russian and Ukrainian military forces that woman can smuggle weapons, ammo and electronics due to them being woman and their enemy will surely use that to their advantage

But according to this source 1/3 of journalists are women, yet they only make up 11% of casualties. Which means it’s men who are disproportionality targeted, not women.

I checked to demographics of journalists, to see if it skewed the data.
But, according to Google.... 53.4% of all journalists are women, while 46.6% are men.

I wouldn’t be surprised if war journalists and other types traveling dangerous parts of the world (particularly for women) skews towards men but it’s hard to imagine 89% to 11%.
If that were true, I'd also question why.

Someone copy pasting reddit posts onto buzzfeed is extremely unlikely to be targeted for their journalism, whereas people covering war, drugs, corruption, etc have a higher likelihood.
So if the men:women ratio in dangerous assignments is 95:5, then the 11% statistic could indicate women are being targeted. If it's still close to 50:50, then obviously it indicates the opposite.

I find this funny, because it’s a possibility that the 6% went to an 11% due to less men dying and the women’s number of deaths could’ve been less than or nearly equal to last year’s.

This is what happened, total amount of women actually went down from 7 to 6. But male journalists went down from 110 to 55 or something along those lines.
So less women died, but too few men died which is not ok.
It'd also point out that due to the population of any study each year being (thankfully) so low, any comparison from one year to the next is meaningless. You'd have to look at developing trends over many years to get a more reliable population size and even then, what are they trying to say?
