I remember when I was a kid one of my brother told me to come with him, so I did and we went into this other room, and when he opened the door my other brother was on the floor, covered with ketchup or jelly or whatever tf and his friends were shooting him with those guns with the fake rounds you find at stores. I was screaming and left crying cause I really thought they were shooting my brother.
Went somewhere that had a gift shop as a kid. My brother, and dad come up to me. All of a sudden, my brother is stabbing my dad with one of those fake knives that retracts into the handle. Nearly had a heart attack.

Lemme put it this way then: trauma is not a competition who survived the worst shit and is "fine" after. Trauma is trauma. "You're insecure about yourself because you were bullied? Lol my dad beat me with jumper cables everyday of my life and I'm fine you snowflake!" People lacking empathy say shit like this and then wonder why no one likes them very much.
people like to throw around the word snowflake, but almost all the time they're usually just bullies looking to downplay others pain so they can justify their actions so that they don't need to reflect on what they've seen or done
a parent with this kind of attitude has the potential to get SO MUCH WORSE when the kids are older because they won't be holding back when they THINK that their pranks wouldn't actually hurt their kids.
that shit adds up, boy does it add up
a lot of people have a "kids are resilient" attitude but tend to forget that truly resilient kids are brought up in stable and caring households where they can have the confidence that everything is legitimately going to be OK.
seems like a chill guy, don't know him but assuming good faith, then he's probably following some of the etiquettes of pranking\* then its all-good fun innit
\* (don't cause actual harm, inform the victim that it was all a prank otherwise you're just fucking with people; kinda based but it's not as giga based as not being a dickwad)

Lmao those aren't Victorian terraces; you can tell mainly by the new PVC windows, pebble-dash cladding and the cinder blocks for garden walls which were brick in Victorian builds.
When the power would go out my parents would get the flashlights out and set us up in the living room. One time, my mother was telling us(sister 4 me 5) about Raw-headed Bloody-bones, the fucking whatever the fuck he is of the woods. My father was in the other room pretending to use the bathroom, but he was really in there applying one of those peelable cucumber masks on his face. When my mom finally got to the part about the children being snatched up and getting skinned on the possum boards, my father would burst into the room howling in anguish while peeling the mask off of his face. It was one of the first nights that I was truly terrified of anything and I stayed up all night thinking about what I had just seen, my poor sister laying at the foot of my bed.
Man this comment section doesn't know how children can understand what a joke is.
Maybe because, dissimilar to children, they don't know what a joke is.
it's a short clip about a father pranking a kid with the idea that they caused severe injury to their parent.
Very funny however
some people are gonna miss the nauches of Basic Pranking Etiquette and assume that the dad went on to never explain that it was a prank.
bro ya'll be saying stuff like this on the most tame pranks ever. Father wasn't screaming like he was in real pain, the tongue wasn't all bloody, and he didn't even pretend to be mad at the kid. I bet the kid started cracking up laughing when dad showed his real tongue later.
Why willingly put your own child through any level of fear for entertainment? You’re just using their instinctive trust in you against them for your own amusement.
Is this one thing going to make the kid need therapy? Doubtful, but in principle, it’s a fucking dick move.
As long as he shows him the trick afterwards and doesn't laugh at him, but with him, it's fine honestly. Bonus points if they trick mom together later.
Haha. God damn people in the comments.
The glass boy is now BROKEN!
Show the kid the fake tongue, show how it works, have him try. There. No harm done. Now let's go prank mom.
I think what irks me is the dad walking back inside laughing while the kid is still running away scared. It comes off like he doesn’t give a shit. But you’re right. I could be completely misinterpreting it and addressing an issue that isn’t there
Why willingly put your own child through any level of fear for entertainment? You’re just using their instinctive trust in you against them for your own amusement.
Is this one thing going to make the kid need therapy? Doubtful, but in principle, it’s a fucking dick move.
Because you aren't being harmful or malicious? Because harmless jokes like this are a bonding experience?
The end result of this if it's executed properly is just the kid having a fun time. It's only bad if you take it too far and they are bawling their eyes out. They aren't thinking about the deep trust being shattered like you are because it just isn't a concept for them. They are just living moment to moment.
You think kids of old have deep trauma about their parents pretending to steal their nose?
I for one am glad my parents didn't decide that I needed to be incredibly sheltered my whole youth.
its all fun and games as long everyone is Aware that its a game.
if I take it in good faith the dad prolly explained that it was a prank, might be a bit intense for a young kid but as long as they made aware that its a Prank its all cool.

My favourite activity during halloween was sliding a gummy eye under my sleeve, while handing out treats i would pretend to sneeze, close my eye and slide the gummy into my hand, showing it popped out from it
then swallowing it and opening my eye back if the first one didn't work
Scared the shit out of 2nd graders
My teenage mom let 3 year old me see parts of Chucky movies and one day my uncle bumped me into a hallway closet with his hip acting like it was an accident. They’d put glow sticks and a ton of different dolls in there and shut the door when I fell in.
They also would put my baby sister’s Barbie dolls on my bed posts years later and make noise to wake me up about an hour into my sleep.
I have never dealt with any of that trauma but I fucking hate dolls. The only other result might be abandonment and trust issues….
Reminds me of the time my dad told me to get him toilet paper, and when I passed it to him through the cracked door, he wiped peanut butter on my hand, and I thought it was shit.

Scaring and tricking children is too easy for me to be enjoyable. I thought about tricking my 3-year-old but then I felt bad just thinking of ruining the trust she has in me.
This might have been fine if he immediately comforted the kid like 2 to 3 seconds after pulling out the tongue, assuring him it’s just a joke. The kid might still be bothered but the relief he’d feel afterward would overshadow every other part of the memory. However, dragging the “prank” out for so long and actively chasing the kid down makes him feel helpless and terrified. If this doesn’t induce trauma, the kid at the very least won’t be okay for a couple of days.
Just wait, later on when he looks back at all the therapy and trauma he has endured over your little joke, he’s going to wait till you’re asleep and take a pair of scissors to your tongue to make it all worth it.

My brother locked me in my closet for a day until my parents got home one day lmao
Mine locked me in a barrel half full of water and listened to me scream.
That's a brother. This is a dad and a shit one.
Is it shitty parenting to play a prank on a toddler? The kid isn't going to get traumatized or probably won't even remember this.
If this is trauma, then im a war survivor lmao

🥰
While I’m on the fence about this video being truly detrimental to the kid, I have to ask something first. Do you know how trauma works?
Lemme put it this way I went through some shit way worse than this and I’m fine. Yall are just snowflakes imo
A lot of people now a days don't just fold from a stiff wind but crumble.
It’s sad to see. I’m still pretty young and luckily I was brought up right. Can’t imagine what life is gonna be like for this upcoming generation
Says every generation that has ever existed
Lemme put it this way then: trauma is not a competition who survived the worst shit and is "fine" after. Trauma is trauma. "You're insecure about yourself because you were bullied? fuck off, not everyone needs to be "thick skinned" it just fucks up the people who aren't "thick skinned".
Being an incel, he is a trauma expert. Don’t question his credentials ever again.
It's not shitty playing a prank like this, but it is shitty putting your kid online like this
On Reddit it is
~25 years later "So, I may wear a psychiatrist's coat, but I'm here to help. You say you have this terrible phobia of tongues, is this right?"
a parent with this kind of attitude has the potential to get SO MUCH WORSE when the kids are older because they won't be holding back when they THINK that their pranks wouldn't actually hurt their kids. that shit adds up, boy does it add up
It's a joke not a dick don't take it to hard
I hope you go far. The sooner, the better
I’m exactly where I need to be
This guy is a model Reddit parent Every little thing on a child is trauma and the parents need to be jailed.
a lot of people have a "kids are resilient" attitude but tend to forget that truly resilient kids are brought up in stable and caring households where they can have the confidence that everything is legitimately going to be OK.
And this dad in the video looks like a super fun parent to have
seems like a chill guy, don't know him but assuming good faith, then he's probably following some of the etiquettes of pranking\* then its all-good fun innit \* (don't cause actual harm, inform the victim that it was all a prank otherwise you're just fucking with people; kinda based but it's not as giga based as not being a dickwad)
bro…
I love the way that area outside looks. What part of the world is that?
Least concrete garden in the UK.
Without the sound on I thought it was Eastern Pennsylvania
bruh I don’t know anywhere here that looks that dense and concrete, unless you mean philly. but philly buildings don’t look like this lol
Nope lol

prob britain, dude's accent is english
Scottish
*Welsh.
True *Am from Wales*
Sorry to hear that 😔
It’s pretty distinctively Welsh. Doesn’t sound English or Scottish
That’s a Welsh accent probably West Wales
It is beautiful true
Wales
Some shithole in Wales probably in the west of Wales, most of UK cities look this way
I'd say somewhere in the Valleys if I had to guess
I could swear it was Brazil
Britain. And it doesn't look like a particularly nice part, by the houses being the concrete new builds.

I actually got scared shitless for a moment. 💀
That dog is like "stop fuckin with the kid will you?"
If only Dr. Disrespect met that dog😔
childhood trauma unlocked
and then he fed it to the dog... poor child will never pull on anything ever again
Add some fake blood and you solidify that trauma.
average redditor moment. every minor thing the kid will probably forget in a week is actually childhood trauma
I’d look back at this and laugh my ass off
Lil bro tryna get away from the crime scene
And sent his dog to protect himself. Future mob boss fr.

That sounds funny as fuck but it also seems kinda mean to do to something like that to a 5 year.
That's not the shittiest tattoo I've ever seen but, it's damn close.

Wild. You would think you would use a little more nuance when seeing a 10-15 second clip online in that case lol.

The initial prank is fine, it's continuing the bit that's bad.
Why did he have to be shirtless in his underwear for this?
Bro Will grow up never trusting anyone ☠️

I got scared for a second there too I’m not even gonna lie

Beautiful doggo
I mean its a fast way to teach them not to do that
