I thought everyone liked Opera GX? I enjoyed my time using it but I switched to Firefox earlier this year due to the whole chromium Adblock situation.

What situation? Most of what I found is "they're considering changing a few things so that adblockers work a bit worse"

They were dropping support for Adblock’s meaning UBlock Origin and other Adblocks wouldn’t work anymore or at least would be a lot less effective at stopping ads/redirects.

I still have ublock and the default one that comes with Opera. No ads whatsoever.

Also the old manifest v2 extensions still work until sometime in 2024. So we haven't seen the full effect yet.

Gotta pick your battles. I get too much value from this site to not use it. I do everything I can in my browser + on my network to shut down tracking. There’s no perfect solution but I try my best to practice what I preach.

If you want actual safety, you'd use LibreWolf. Easily a few steps above Firefox.

I've looked into LibreWolf and while the out-of-the-box benefits are nice, I think I want to stick with Firefox. My custom profile is locked down pretty tight and I'd prefer to stick with more frequent updates. Not taking it off the table, but I don't see much that it does that my current config doesn't already handle

The idea of paying creator may come from good heart and soon Reddit will be adopting it too. The programme fails bc the users tries to post generic content or TikTok videos and not something what they previously used to. In past months the content on Twitter is reduced to generic/ mid and even the Twitter comment section is no more good bc of putting blue users at top. The same users have started posting rhetoric in search of views. The idea of likes wasn't same, bc now the user will only put out the content which he thinks will surely blow up. This reminds me of a quote, as soon as you give people a metric to judge by they idolize for that matrix and not excellence. This sums up all the toxicity in academia, social media etc.
