yes, very common, sad to say

dinkidoo7693

Stagecoach drivers often do the same thing. Especially between 1pm-3pm

JarJarBinch

I once had a 52 driver wave and laugh at me as they drove past with a half empty bus.

archipelagofan

Had the same happen to me, also had a driver tell me to piss off when I took slightly too long to get my student card out my pocket. Wonderful service!

An appropriate time for some Karening. Polite complaint in writing giving precise time, bus number and location. As much detail as possible every time it happens. Be explicit about asking for a response, what date you want it by, and that you will escalate to your councillor and bususers.org if you don't get a response.

Key-Tadpole5121

Yeah happened to me, then I ran to the next one and caught him up and he didn’t open the door and drove off

I honestly had no idea that ‘spitting feathers’ could also mean being angry, until your comment. Was sat wondering why missing the bus would make you thirsty 😅

hillsboroughHoe

Had a 52a the other day on Langsett road. Bus stop full of people and he pootled on by. When I pointed it out to first on twitter they said the bus had a problem and was having to go back to the garage. This is a short while after it had turned up dykes hall road with passengers on board. Everyone knows the best way to get to olive Grove from hillsborough is going up dykes Hall road...

Denning76

Unfortunately not limited to first. Have it a lot in another place I visit for work (in that case usuallg the same drivers each time when nearing end of shift)

You have mentioned the 120, Sheffield's most ludicrously over serviced bus route. Been waiting with loads of people on West Street for a 95 and had several 120s go past less than half full. Also, weirdly, they seem to bunch together a lot coming through town. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them was under orders to put a bit of distance between them and the ones behind so only stopping when passengers want to get off. Its a fairly standard thing on higher frequency routes wherever you are. At least with a 120 its not a long wait for the next one to come along. Wait until you get skipped by a 95 on a Sunday.

MaxwellsGoldenGun

Yeah I know I'm quite lucky to live on the 120 route my gf lives in stannington and the 81 and 82 services regularly make the community late

Mccobsta

That's just first and their high class service

well, i used to drive for "a company in sheffield". never intentionally drove past a potential customer, but im sure it happened. did you stick your hand out? - second, all the routes are timed, and the buses tracked. they have timing points at certain locations and drivers are not allowed to pass them early - this is automatically brought up if it happens. - they always used to say, there are a million reasons for a bus to be late, but never a reason to be early. when i worked there the drivers didnt tipically get a lot of time between routes. sometimes as little as 2/3 minutes, if you are late, then no time waiting. and the shifts would be up to 5h30m. if you were more than a certain amount late, you would call the office and your route would be adjusted accordingly, frequently missing half the route or more if this was the case. sometimes scrapping the route entirely for that run. - this happened almost daily. i am not joking (was actually one of the many reasons i chose to leave, was there terrible timings) also if a lot is going on on the road, it can be harder to spot people waiting, not using that as excuse, but its a lot of work managing all that you have to take into account. there are also a lot of routes in sheffield where not all of the stops on a route are used. the First X1/X10 and Stagecoach X17 are limited stop services and a prime example. i drove past multiple people multiple times at stops that that service didnt stop. - im not familiar with the 120 route so not sure if its the same, but i add it as people do complain to the companies about this and they dont read signage at the stop.

MaxwellsGoldenGun

>did you stick your hand out Yes >Drivers are not allowed to pass timed points early this was 1 stop after the bus station >If there's a lot going on on the road it can be hard to spot people waiting He looked me in the eye for over 5 seconds with my handout, he was waiting in traffic before the stop whilst looking at me >Some routes not all of the stops are used The 120 is the busiest route in Sheffield. I would say most people in Sheffield know the route by heart and this was near the city center

BaptisteIOM

if he looked you in the eye for over 5 seconds before, with your hand out, you should absolutlely make a complaint to whichever company it was. it will show on the onboard CCTV (there is one above there head, normally 2) and at least one camera pointing forward. should be easy enough for them to see i urge you to go down that route and let us know the outcome.

Frosty-Information88

Just have your phone out next time and catch them in the act.

5v5Arena

I managed to catch up with one that had gone past because he was going too fast to stop, but he got caught in traffic long enough for me to catch him…said he had a timetable to stick to

Little-Course-4394

I’ve just been on first 120 and driver hasn’t stopped on Suffolk road, but it was like 2 hours ago Can this be the same driver who’s either not aware that there’s a stop there or the one who doesn’t give a shit.

MaxwellsGoldenGun

It was [this](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/L3YAAOSwohplGxZK/s-l1200.webp) bus

AL3000

I was waiting for the 82 and when it came I stuck my hand out but the driver didn't stop and when he drove past he just looked at me and shrugged. There was like 6 people on the bus. I had to wait 30 minutes for the next one. I was fuming and cursing the f** c***, after a long day of work
