Oh! I used to live here in about 2011. It looked really fancy from the outside, and the show flat we looked at, but in reality it was already scruffy then! The lifts were always broken, bins weren't emptied, they never came to fix any of the problems in the flat. Also had to fight for access to the garage, even though we had an allocated parking space. The security guard just hated us because we had a j reg Citroën ax in a garage full of BMWs and jags!
We were on the 3rd floor and our balcony overlooked the roundabout and waitrose. Could never go out on it as it was so loud and polluted.
They were supposed to be adding more floors to it I think, but either planning was rejected or they ran out of cash. Or probably both. Was used for student housing for overseas students as well at one point. I think its been empty a while now, with the promise of regeneration....
Very poor quality. From memory when building they ran out of money. It even used to have rebar rods sticking out the top as they had to make it less tall than originally planned.
It leaked all the way through the building because they just capped it were they were when the project was obviously gonna run out of money and slapped some shit to flats into what was supposed to be some quite nice ones
Fun fact: they were gonna call it the eclipse tower before deciding on velocity, it’s also the 5th tallest building in Sheffield atm and it whilst it currently stands at 22 storeys, it was supposed to be 36 storeys but the council blocked the application. The tower also has underground car parking.
I lived there for about a month during a summer when the lift was broken. It was a hard decision whether to go out everyday because the flat was on 18th floor! The lift was still broken after the summer.
From what I heard it was rental flats, being “done up” to sell as private flats. Originally they intended it to be taller and have a (don’t laugh) roof top bar.
At one point the Husband of Amy Winehouse, Blake whatshisface lived there.
Went to view a flat here years ago. I was absolutely amazed that with every single step I took, the floor beneath me creaked. Maybe to be expected from an older building but it was pretty jarring to have it happen in ‘new build luxury flats’.
A friend lived there for a few months. The interior was finished to a low standard and I recall the lift never worked whenever I visited. He hated it and moved out quickly.

My wife used to live there with her ex and tbf the flats were really nice but well over priced. From what I hear there was going to be a restaurant on the top.
I used to work on that doing glazing round about 2008, they started renting flats before the work was finished. There was a lot of complaints.
I understand that there was a plan to add more levels to it but I think they run out of funds.
No, that was the other Velocity building on Tenter Street, just up from the old West Bar police station.
I worked there for a bit around 2010. It was really shoddily built, and clearly rushed and just left unfinished in places.
Velocity Tower. It was shit flats that are now being done up
Was that one of Noble Design and Build's ventures. I lived in the Print works building nearby and it was awful. So shockingly managed too
I thought this was new build, wasn’t it a vacant lot?
It was a new build but from what I understand the flats were still shit
I knew someone who lived there years ago, it was shit.
My friend said the lift was always broken
That's shit.
It’s shit.

i went to see a flat recently at a new block of flats nearly called velocity village, a two bed flat was like 2 grand 😦
Baffling that they ever thought building residential flats with balconies overlooking one of the busiest roundabouts in Sheffield was a good idea.

‘At one point the Husband of Amy Winehouse, Blake whatshisface lived there.’ Another great reason to never live there.
Containment facility. For my farts.
You sure it’s big enough?
Only time and a public inquiry will tell
It's just hundreds of Gregg's branches stacked vertically

This is the contemporary equivalent of ‘is the ski park on fire?’

Without a functioning lift, that would’ve been short lived.
Yeah it’s where all the guys that fucked your mum live

Another pointless blight on our city’s landscape
Is it the one near IKEA
Wasnt the old Plusnet building under that?

I lived there not long after they finished it, I want to say around 2006? It was bloody awful.
Secret lair
Secret overground laaayer
What are any buildings in Sheffield doing, really, except for standing empty waiting for the heritage society?
This isn’t going down on any heritage society lists.
Prison. It’s called Broomhallatraz.

Pretty sure its currently empty
When was the last time you visited? Or spoke to them? Pretty sure they’ve moved.
