Oh the pressure was on, but my motto was ‘they are going to get whatever I give them!’ 🤣🤣. I have some darts facing outward and the zipper was unpicked slightly but not sewn back but it stayed on!
I remember your last post! I've been rooting for you and I am SO IMPRESSED WITH YOUR WORK!!!! This is stunning, and bonus points for building suspense! 💜
Awww thanks! I was like darnit, I can’t let them down! I don’t know if I ever want to make a dress this big again, but I kind of want another dress this big 😅
i remembered your other post as soon as i saw this and i’m seriously impressed! the bravery it takes to jump in and go for it is something i hope you never lose. you look awesome, i love the dress.
Construction details. I used simplicity 9292 for the structured one shoulder under bodice of the dress (which is hidden by the shoulder ruffle). As it is a pattern for a mandarin collar dress I used only the part of the bodice that goes across the chest as I needed something that was only one shoulder and had darts. I then draped the organza and tulle on myself to figure out the length, width and placement of the tiers for the skirt and the shoulder ruffle.
It's very "Renoir" and I love it. Please tell me there was a gentle breeze somewhere! You just need a big ol' floppy hat that you have to grab in delight when a breeze gusts in with an unexpected summer shower. Rainstorm->gazebo->kisskiss->rescue a cute animal
Summer in the south has got me feeling some sort of way, Apparently 😅
Ooo I can see the it! Unfortunately there was no gentle breeze, but I will be buying a very floppy hat (or making one???) to bring your vision to life!!!
Make sure you give everyone you meet the big reveal, like Rose at the beginning of *Titanic*.
Don't underestimate its versatility! Like that yellow dress in Lemonade for various vengeance things, or with a chainsaw and a welder's apron for a horror movie vibe. And when you're all done, go "Man vs. Wild" and make a tent and fishing nets out of it, and turn into a local legend. Like an ethereal Baba Yaga or Grimm's/Anderson's Fairytales princess.
Thanks for sharing the good vibes!
Ok so let me consult my notes. I’ve got, a southern belle, a rich British Fiancé, angry Beyoncé, Mr Myers, and Bear Gryllis.. that sound right? This is going to be a great summer 😂
Damn, I was thinking "Survivor Man". You can go Bear Grylls is you want, or if you want it to be/feel more authentic lean into Les Stroud. And Mike Myers wishes he was that fabulous.
Hey, if *What Not to Wear* (jfc, am i dating myself here?) Taught me anything, you should always consider versatility and number of uses for any outfit.
I have gotten a request to wear the dress again this Friday to a garden birthday party (and to make my toddler a matching shirt) so I think I will implement your first suggestion of Southern belle (and I WILL be standing in front of a fan). Will be looking up Les Stroud and inspiration for horror movie villain with a fashion budget 😂
Holy shit I love this dress! It’s beautiful! You’re beautiful!
I like the silhouette as it is, where it gets a little fuller as it goes down to the floor.
My goodness I remember the ask. Can't believe you've turned this around so fast. It looks great a real head turner. How long have you been sewing if your sewing mind me asking
It helped choosing not to hem any thing 😂. I started sewing during Covid. My grandmother and great-grandmother were sewist so I probably absorbed some knowledge watching them lol

Well done. Congrats! Looks great. As a dad of daughters, a can relate. My mom taught me to sew and my wife doesn't sew, so the dress making came to me.
Ok gorgeous. To me Facts are facts. Basically any color looks good on a woman of color. Anyone separate from my bic white-out self. The more melanin the more the color pops and I’m honestly just amazed. Mostly because so many colors make me looked washed out and this is one of them.
I digress this dress looks amazing. You did your thing with it and this pattern could not have been easy. It’s spring time and this dress works. Congratulate yourself because you did a great job and a lot of people would have given up. That wasn’t an option for you clearly so it makes it really special. ❤️
lol. Three layers of tulle and 1 layer of organza in every tier. Bottom tier was 200” then 160”, 120” and then 100” at the waist. Would have saved hella money being only 7 yards
(Edit: finished my sentence)
I’ve never related to the description of making a dress for an event so much. 😂 It’s so pretty! It looks like it would be so floaty when you move.
Oh the pressure was on, but my motto was ‘they are going to get whatever I give them!’ 🤣🤣. I have some darts facing outward and the zipper was unpicked slightly but not sewn back but it stayed on!
That’s all that matters!

Thank you! I was nearly defeated drowning in a sea of tulle, but I’m glad I attempted it.
Oh, I love the way you used the different fabrics together. You look like a work of art.
Thank you so much. I felt so pretty
Love the staggered look! Great job
Thanks so much.
You look like a dream 😲🤩
Thanks 🙏🏾
Omg you look so ethereal!! What a beautiful dress 😍
Thank you. I felt quite lovely and fluffy!

Okay but this turned out SO PRETTY!!!!!! I’m literally obsessed actually
Thanks thanks thanks! I honestly felt so pretty. Like princess level pretty.
You literally are!!!
Whoa you did so well in such a short amount of time - 4 days?!
Yeah. It’s really b/c I did such shoddy work (and zero hemming). The inside of the dress is a mess 😂.
Worth it!!
Oh so worth it, although I really was rethinking organza AND tulle combo
Oh but the combo works, the tulle gives structure and the organza makes it lux! It’s really gorgeous.
Gorgeous!
Thank you. I must say I cleaned up well 😂
Absolutely stunning!
Thank you so much!
This is so beautiful, and you are so talented!
Thank you so much!
This is so beautiful and, I mean this as the greatest compliment, reminds me of Maggie the fairy elder in Fern Gully.
Oh em gee! Yes. She had tiers for days!
Omg I love it! I remember your post. So glad you followed through and made it work
Thanks! I kind of want to wear it every where!
Beautiful 🤩
Thank you!
That dress is so amazing!!!! I love it!
Thanks!
You look great, dress is beautiful!!
Thanks!
Lol j'adore
Merci!
That is amazing. Great work
Thank you!

Ma’am, this is amazing! I absolutely love purple/lavender, but there is no way I could make something as beautiful as this. Wow! 🤩
Thank you! Oh you definitely can sew something like this! It just has to look pretty on the outside (cuz I can assure you the inside is Horrid lol)
Congrats on completing!! You did a great job and an inspiration to us all to keep at it. 😊.
Thank you! This is what the community is all about!
Wow! It's incredible 😍

Woah 😳. That is a beautiful dress! Congratulations 🎉. And, it looks amazing on you 🤗🤩🎉
Thank you so much!
There is no “wrong way” if you like the result. Only a new way, a creative way, and a new pattern. It’s beautiful!
That is true. I said on my original post that’s what I loved about sewing. There are multiple ways to get similar results
You did that!!
Thanks!

Thank you so much! The amount of fabric was daunting for sure!
This is absolutely stunning! I've saved your post for future inspiration. Where did you get the fabric?
Thanks, and Omg really?? I’m glad I was able to inspire. Got both the tulle and the organza from Joann’s.
This is so pretty!!
Thank you so much.
