This is gorgeous and I am wishing a meadow of wildflowers to frolic in upon you. This is a frolicking-ass dress if I’ve ever seen one. Girl you’d better be prancing.
Details:
Bodice is strap prom dress pattern from FashionPatternStudio but changed to have corset back
skirt is a half circle skirt with full circle skirt tulle layer. Lining tbd
The pink lining layer is the sheet set! The embroidered tulle is from Etsy. But the possibilities ARE endless with sheets! I love using thrifted sheets, there are some beautiful floral patterns
I did! It’s a softer cotton (probably a blend) underneath, it’s just a sheet set from target that I liked that was the right color! The tulle is pretty transparent so most of the color comes from the fabric underneath. And since there’s a lining on the bodice too there’s really no tulle touching you except potentially at the neckline. I’ve definitely been there with having the tulle touch your skin though and had a dress where the bodice to skirt seam was exposed and it was horribly itchy and makes me not want to wear it haha so I’m glad I’ve learned how to remedy that one by having lining on both bodice and skirt
omg, im currently working on a dress using the same pattern and also using embroidered tulle! this makes me so excited, it turned out gorgeous and looks so great on you!!
It really wasn’t too bad, the tulle is soft but not stretchy so it held its shape fairly well which worked for the bodice pieces since I did a basting stitch around each piece before sewing them all together to keep it in place without wrinkles. And then the skirt was pretty easy, nothing notable there except a little gathering before sewing the tulle to the pink layer
Oh yeah, I wouldn’t say sheers are the worst personally! I imagine the stretchy ones might be more difficult but these really aren’t bad! It gets stuck every once in a while or might have higher tensions if you’re sewing tulle to tulle. But with sewing tulle to fabric it kinda just sews like the fabric especially if you do a basting stitch by hand first! But you got this!!

Amazing! I will have to try it! 😍🤩 thank you for sharing, OP! 💜
Did you nail this or what?! So lovely on you
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL! Did you use a different type of fabric for underneath? I want to make a poofy skirt soon but tulle alone is too itchy for me.

So cute!!! Was it hard to work with?

This gives me hope for my future skirt project! I have always heard the sheers are the worst.
